The effect of realistic inflow conditions and low reflective outflow conditions will be analysed and discussed. Supersonic channel flow case and distorsion of the flow by mean of adverse pressure gradient will be further considered.

Internationale.; International audience; La modélisation de la turbulence est un élément essentiel de la prédiction de la qualité de l'air en vallée alpine, en particulier en situation stablement stratifiée. Des SGE à haute résolution sont effectuées avec le code de calcul Meso-NH. On évalue l'effet des conditions aux limites, refroidissement et rugosité en paroi, sur le comportement turbulent de l'écoulement catabatique généré le long d'une pente modèle. La prise en compte du transport et du mélange de scalaire est envisagée.

Internationale.; International audience; L'objet de l'étude présente est de déterminer et d'analyser les différentes échelles de temps caractéristiques de l'écoulement turbulent décollé au dessus d'un cylindre à section carrée, et d'en étudier la dépendance au nombre de Reynolds. Le nombre de Reynolds de l'écoulement varie dans la gamme Re=50 à Re=200,000. La mise en oeuvre d'outils de Simulation des Grandes Echelles de la turbulence (SGE) à nombre de Reynolds intermédiaire et de techniques d'Anémométrie LASER Doppler (LDA) à nombre de Reynolds élevé a permis de caractériser les structures cohérentes présentes dans la couche cisaillée décollée et dans le sillage du cylindre. Au delà de Re=1,000, la signature des structures de type Von Karman (VK) et Kelvin-Helmholtz (KH) est présente simultanément dans le signal de vitesse. On étudie la combinaison de leurs fréquences caractéristiques à l'aide de transformée en ondelettes.

Electrons trapped in field emission resonances (FERs) in front of a Ag(100) surface covered with ultrathin NaCl islands are probed by scanning tunneling spectroscopy. The eigenstates in the potential well formed between the tip and the sample are calculated within a one-dimensional model. This approach permits to locally determine a work function reduction of 1.3 eV in going from the bare substrate to NaCl islands of up to 3 ML. Spatial mapping of the FERs across a NaCl island edge at typical distances of 1 nm from the surface yields a lateral resolution for the surface potential changes of 1 nm.

The energy gap Delta of superconducting Pb islands grown on Si(111) was probed in situ between 5 and 60 monolayers by low-temperature scanning tunneling spectroscopy. Delta was found to decrease from its bulk value as a function of inverse island thickness. Corresponding T-c values, estimated using bulk gap-to-T-c ratio, are in quantitative agreement with ex situ magnetic susceptibility measurements, however, in strong contrast to previous scanning probe results. Layer-dependent ab initio density functional calculations for freestanding Pb films show that the electron-phonon coupling constant, determining T-c, decreases with diminishing film thickness.

Using low-temperature scanning tunneling spectroscopy at 5 and 50 K, we studied the linewidth of unoccupied quantum-well states in ultrathin Pb islands, grown on Si(111) on two different Pb/Si interfaces. A quantitative analysis of the differential conductance spectra allowed us to determine the electron-electron (e-e), electron-phonon (e-ph) and the interface and defect contributions to the lifetime. Layer-dependent ab initio calculations of the e-ph linewidth contribution are in excellent agreement with the data. Importantly, the sum of the calculated e-e and e-ph lifetime broadening follows the experimentally observed quadratic energy dependence.
