ABSTRACT Rationale Aims and Objectives Method Results Conclusion This service evaluation details the process of introducing Single Session Therapy (SST) with families to a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service in the United Kingdom. SST is a model of short‐term psychotherapy intervention which can be applied to family contexts to provide timely mental health support.This service evaluation had two objectives: (1) Review the existing evidence base and literature for SST. (2) Evaluate the implementation of a new SST treatment pathway in CAMHS, including patient experiences and satisfaction with the service.SQUIRE Guidelines are used to report on this new knowledge of healthcare. This evaluation used qualitative methods to evaluate the impact of the new service. The team also used existing frameworks within the Trust, namely discharge data, which is collected routinely as part of service evaluation.This evaluation suggests positive support for this model, and that many families appreciate and value the opportunity to build on strengths and work toward their goals as families. This project outcome appears to support some of Talmon's (1990) findings that the most commonly attended number of sessions is one, and that of those who attended only one session, many perceived the session as useful. Waiting times for our service are extremely long. The pace and structure around goals and solutions could feel both galvanising, as some reported, but others felt it was an insufficient response to the severity of their difficulties.More high‐quality research is needed before judgments can be made around the cost‐effectiveness or efficacy of SST over existing approaches in the United Kingdom. While implementing SST should not be used to justify reduction in existing interventions, it offers a positive additional service for young people experiencing mental health difficulties and their families. This study compares the environmental impacts of a lithium‐ion battery (LiB), utilizing a lithium iron phosphate cathode, with a solid‐state battery (SSB) based on a Li6.4La3Zr1.4Ta0.6O12 garnet‐structured electrolyte. It uses a hybrid life cycle assessment (LCA), according to two functional units, delivery of 50 MJ of electrical energy and kg of battery, to expand the system boundary. The results of the process LCA indicate that the environmental impact of LiBs is lower than SSBs across most environmental impact categories. Conversely, the input–output upstream global warming potential (GWP) of the LiBs, calculated by hybrid LCA, is higher than that of the SSBs. Sensitivity analysis shows that the SSB cycle life must increase from 100 to 2800 to achieve a GWP impact lower than that of LiBs and therefore outperform LiBs in this environmental impact category. The study, therefore, demonstrates that research into SSBs must be accelerated to achieve a functional and safe battery technology with a reduced impact on the environment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Work has been carried out screening hydrometallurgical resins for application in the valorization of industrially produced jarosite. Of the seven resins tested, anion exchange resins performed poorly for valuable metal recovery. Purolite S950+ and S957, along with a strong acid resin, show good extraction properties, but are selective for Fe3+over the other (divalent) metals. Purolite S930+ (iminodiacetic acid-functionalized resin) demonstrates selectivity for Cu2+over Fe3+, but poor selectivity for Ni2+, Zn2+, and Co2+. Dowex M4195 (bispicolylamine-functionalized resin) demonstrates promise for extracting metals of value away from a mixed metal pregnant liquor solution (PLS). Dispatchable power sources are crucial for electricity system stability and security of supply. Currently, the United Kingdom uses small-scale (<50 MWe) gas turbines to provide this function. To ensure we reach Net-Zero emissions by 2050, these small-scale dispatchable generators will require CO 2 abatement; however, limited studies focus on these forms of power generation. In this work, we use process models developed in our previous studies, to calculate the levelised cost of electricity (LCOE) for a small-scale gas turbine equipped with Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). The results show that the inclusion of CCS for these dispatchable generators increases the LCOE from 172 £/MWh to 514 £/MWh, almost tripling the cost of electricity. This is due to economies of scale and the low capacity factor. As these generators operate for less than 20% of the year, the levelised cost is drastically higher than other forms of low-carbon power. Dispatchable power is usually more expensive due to the small plant size and transient operation, and including CCS exacerbates this issue. Future work should focus on alternative forms of CO 2 capture (designed specifically for small-scale gas turbines) and different dispatchable power generation, i.e., hydrogen and energy storage. Carbon capture and storage (CCS) will be a critical component of a portfolio of low-carbon energy technologies required to combat climate change ( IEA-GHG, 2013 ). As such, an extensive transportation infrastructure will be required to transport captured CO 2 from different sources to the available sinks. Several studies in the literature suggest that shared oversized pipeline networks may be the most efficient long term option compared to single source to sink pipelines, based on increased CCS deployment over the years and therefore increased CO 2 flowrate to the transport network. However, what is neglected in this vision is that the deployment of intermittent renewable energy tends to displace thermal power generation. This directly reduces the amount of fossil fuel burned, CO 2 produced, captured and transported through the network. This paper presents an optimisation methodology to “right-size” CO 2 transport infrastructure, explicitly accounting for the transient flow of CO 2 arising from the co-deployment of intermittent renewable energy generators. By application of this methodology, we demonstrate that capital cost reductions of up to 28% are possible relative to a business-as-usual design case. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
