Proteins of the RNF183 (RING finger 183) family proteins have been reported to be of great importance in tumor the initiation and progression. However, the biological role and regulatory mechanism of RNF183 in non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) development and progression are poorly defined. Hence, lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) cell proliferation, cell apoptosis and cell cycle were measured using Cell Counting Kit-8 and flow cytometry analysis, respectively. The correlation between RNF183 and SHP2 (Src homology-2 domain-containing protein tyrosine phosphatase) was measured using coimmunoprecipitation and ubiquitination analysis in vitro. Tumor growth of NSCLC cells in vivo was measured using the nude mouse xenograft model. In this study, we verify that elevated RNF183 expression in tumor tissues of LUAD, origin from the TCGA, GEPIA, TIMER, and UALCAN database. RNF183 regulates apoptosis and cell cycle in vitro and tumor growth in vivo by activating the STAT3 pathway through ubiquitination of SHP2, a negative feedback regulator of the STAT3 pathway. Taken together, our results demonstrate that RNF183 regulates proliferation, apoptosis, and cell cycle in LUAD cells via modulation of SHP2/STAT3 signaling, suggesting the potential for targeting the RNF183-SHP2/STAT3 pathway for use in LUAD treatment.

During cementing operations involving cement slurry contamination, problems often occur due to the inaccurate calculation of the space fluid volume. This study, based on the turbulent dispersion theory, developed a minimum volume calculation model of spacer fluid to prevent cement slurry contamination. This model was used to analyze influence factors and practical calculations. The results indicated that the minimum volume of spacer fluid increase with the eccentricity of casing and injection rate and decrease with the density of cement slurry. Additionally, the better rheological properties of the cement slurry and spacer fluid would increase the volume of the spacer fluid. Furthermore, this model fitted actual field data better than other heat calculation models. Keywords: Cementing, Spacer fluid, Mixing volume, Dispersion coefficient

Archery is a fine-motor-skill sport, in which success results from multiple factors including a fine neuromuscular tuning. The present study hypothesised that lower trapezius specific training can improve archers’ performance with concomitant changes in muscle activity and shoulder kinematics. We conducted a prospective study in a university archery team. Athletes were classified into exercise and control groups. A supervised lower trapezius muscle training program was performed for 12 weeks in the exercise group. The exercise program focused on a lower trapezius-centred muscular training. Performance in a simulated game was recorded as the primary outcome, and shoulder muscle strength, kinematics, and surface electromyography were measured and analysed. In the exercise group, the average score of the simulation game increased from 628 to 639 after the training regimens (maximum score was 720), while there were no such increases in the control group. The lower trapezius muscle strength increased from 8 to 9 kgf after training regimens and shoulder horizontal abductor also increased from 81 to 93 body weight% for the exercise group. The upper/lower trapezius ratio decreased from 2.2 to 1.1 after training. The lower trapezius exercise training regimen could effectively improve the performance of an archer with a simultaneous increase in shoulder horizontal abductor and lower trapezius muscle strength.

Gram-negative Aeromonas bacteria is known to contaminate aquaculture products and retains the ability to infect wide range of host including fishes, shrimps and humans. This study is designed to evaluate the presence of Aeromonas in healthy loaches (Misgurnus anguillicaudatus) collected from the markets in Hainan and Guangdong provinces of China. Based on the molecular sequencing and phylogenetic analysis with single 16S rRNA and concatenated genes (gyrA and ropD), 104 isolates were identified as Aeromonas species followed by further classification to A. veronii (83.65%), A. jandaei (9.62%), A. hydrophila (3.85%) and A. allosaccharophila (2.88%). More than half of the isolates displayed hemolytic activity of 87.5% and were able to form moderate biofilm (78.26%). Fourteen antibiotics from ten representative classes were screened that demonstrated complete resistance to ampicillin, 89.4% and 68.3% to lincomycin and nalidixic acid. Moreover, a notable detection and prevalence was found in screening of ten virulence-related and nine resistance genes. To our knowledge, it is the first report of its kind demonstrating potential threat of the commercial loaches carrying Aeromonas to human health. These findings will assist professionals working in clinical settings to optimize their prescription accordingly and researchers to access the impacts of Aeromonas resistance on human health.ImportanceThis study demonstrates high infection rate of loaches by Aeromonas spp. in Hainan and Guangdong provinces of China.The most prevalent species was Aeromonas veronii.Most of the isolates displayed hemolytic activity and formed moderate biofilm.Multiple virulence genes, resistance genes and multi-antibiotic resistance were detected.Aeromonads risks should be considered in loach industry.

An umpolung 1,4-addition of aryl iodides to enals promoted by cooperative (terpy)Pd/NHC catalysis was developed that generates various bioactive β,β-diaryl propanoate derivatives. This system is not only the first reported palladium-catalyzed arylation of NHC-bound homoenolates but also expands the scope of NHC-induced umpolung transformations. A diverse array of functional groups such as esters, nitriles, alcohols, and heterocycles are tolerated under the mild conditions. This method also circumvents the use of moisture-sensitive organometallic reagents.

In this paper, we focus on the interaction behavior associated with a generalized (2+1)-dimensional Hirota bilinear equation. With symbolic computation, two types of interaction solutions including lump-kink and lump-soliton ones are derived through mixing two positive quadratic functions with an exponential function, or two positive quadratic functions with a hyperbolic cosine function in the bilinear equation. The completely non-elastic interaction between a lump and a stripe is presented, which shows the lump is drowned or shallowed by the stripe. The interaction between lump and soliton is also given, where the lump moves from one branch to the other branch of the soliton. These phenomena exhibit the dynamics of nonlinear waves and the solutions are useful for the study on interaction behavior of nonlinear waves in shallow water, plasma, nonlinear optics and Bose–Einstein condensates.

In this paper, a general propagation lattice Boltzmann model for a variable-coefficient compound Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers (vc-cKdVB) equation is investigated through selecting equilibrium distribution function and adding a compensation function, which can provide some more realistic models than their constant-coefficient counterparts in fluids or plasmas. Chapman–Enskog analysis shows that the vc-gKdVB equation can be recovered correctly from the present model. Numerical simulations in different situations of this equation are conducted, including the propagation and interaction of the bell-type, kink-type and periodic-depression solitons and the evolution of the shock-wave solutions. It is found that the numerical results match well with the analytical solutions, which demonstrates that the current lattice Boltzmann model is a satisfactory and efficient algorithm. In addition, it is also shown the present model could be more stable and more accurate than the standard lattice Bhatnagar–Gross–Krook model through adjusting the two free parameters introduced into the propagation step.

Food grains constitute a vital part of the daily diet of the population worldwide, and are generally considered as safe products with high storage stability due to their low moisture contents. However, post-harvest losses (PHL) caused by insects, fungi, food-borne pathogens, and undesirable enzymes remain a major concern for the grain industry. Thermal treatments are commonly used to reduce the PHL of grains and their products without any chemical residues. Among which, radio frequency (RF) technology has been regarded as a promising alternative to traditional heating methods for improving safety and quality of food grains due to its fast, volumetric, and deep penetration heating characteristics. This review provided comprehensive information about principles of RF technology and its main applications including disinfestation, pasteurization, enzyme inactivation, drying, and roasting for processing food grains and their products. The methods to improve the RF heating uniformity and effects of RF heating on product quality were also reviewed. Finally, the current problems and recommendations for future work related to RF processing of grains and their products were discussed. This review would improve the understanding of RF heating for food grains and their products and promote the application of RF technology in the food grain industry.

Membrane-embedded pyrophosphatase (M-PPase) hydrolyzes pyrophosphate to drive ion (H+ and/or Na+) translocation. We determined crystal structures and functions of Vigna radiata M-PPase (VrH+-PPase), the VrH+-PPase-2Pi complex and mutants at hydrophobic gate (residue L555) and exit channel (residues T228 and E225). Ion pore diameters along the translocation pathway of three VrH+-PPases complexes (Pi-, 2Pi- and imidodiphosphate-bound states) present a unique wave-like profile, with different pore diameters at the hydrophobic gate and exit channel, indicating that the ligands induced pore size alterations. The 2Pi-bound state with the largest pore diameter might mimic the hydrophobic gate open. In mutant structures, ordered waters detected at the hydrophobic gate among VrH+-PPase imply the possibility of solvation, and numerous waters at the exit channel might signify an open channel. A salt-bridge, E225-R562 is at the way out of the exit channel of VrH+-PPase; E225A mutant makes the interaction eliminated and reveals a decreased pumping ability. E225-R562 might act as a latch to regulate proton release. A water wire from the ion gate (R-D-K-E) through the hydrophobic gate and into the exit channel may reflect the path of proton transfer.

Wheat germ (WG) is a nutritional valuable by-product of wheat milling. However, presences of high lipase (LA) activity and high content of unsaturated fatty acids induce rapid lipid rancidity in WG during storage. The aim of this study was to inactivate LA activity and improve the lipid stability of WG using radio-frequency (RF) heating treatment. Meanwhile, the color, functional, structure and antioxidant properties of WG samples stabilized by effective RF and conventional steaming treatments were also compared. Results indicated that WG stabilized by RF heating to 100 °C with holding for 15 min in hot air or heating to 110 °C with holding for 5 min could effectively inactivate LA activity to 18.2% or 22.5% of their original values. Under these conditions, the WG can be maintained with the acceptable oil quality for >90 d at controlled room condition in zip-lock PE bags. The color values and water/oil absorption capacity of WG were improved by RF stabilization treatments, but the protein solubility (PS) and foaming properties were reduced. RF stabilized WG also showed comparable emulsifying properties, total phenolic content (TPC) and antioxidant capacity (AC) to those of control. Compared with steam treatments, RF stabilized samples exhibited a brighter color, higher PS, TPC, or AC, better foaming/emulsifying properties, and clearer outline presence with intact starch granules in microstructure. RF treatments could be a promising stabilization method and improve some physiochemical properties of WG, which are important for industrial applications.

In this paper, we study arc-transitive Cayley graphs on non-abelian simple groups with soluble stabilizers and valency seven. Let Γ be such a Cayley graph on a non-abelian simple group T . It is proved that either Γ is a normal Cayley graph or Γ is S -arc-transitive, with ( S , T ) = ( A n , A n − 1 ) and n = 7 , 21 , 63 or 84; and, for each of these four values of n , there really exist some arc-transitive 7-valent non-normal Cayley graphs on A n − 1 and specific examples are constructed.

An exopolysaccharide (EPS)-producing strain of YB-2 isolated from mango juice was identified as Leuconostoc pseudomesenteroides. The molecular weight (Mw) of this EPS was 7.67×105 Da. Gas chromatography (GC) analysis confirmed the presence of only glucose monomers. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra displayed the glucan nature of the EPS with 96.8% α-(1→6) and 3.2% branching α-(1→3) linkages. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed smooth surfaces and compact structure. The water solubility index (WSI) and water-holding capacity (WHC) of dextran were 97.48±2.46% and 287.51±7.93%, respectively. The rheological analysis of dextran elucidated a non-Newtonian pseudoplastic behavior. The dextran revealed an inhibitory activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus with minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of 2.0 mg/mL and 3.0 mg/mL, respectively.

We classify tetravalent G-half-arc-transitive graphs Γ of order p2q2, where G ⩽ Aut Γ and p, q are distinct odd primes. This result involves a subclass of tetravalent half-arc-transitive graphs of cube-free order.

Detailed characterization of the permeability and vascular volume of brain tumor vasculature can provide essential insights into tumor physiology. In this study, we evaluated the consistency of measurements in tumor blood volume and examined the feasibility of using ultrasmall superparamagnetic iron oxide (USPIO) versus gadolinium-diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid (Gd-DTPA) as contrast agents for MR perfusion imaging of brain gliomas in C6 Rats. Eighteen rats were intracerebrally implanted with C6 glioma cells, randomly divided into two groups and examined by 3.0T perfusion MR imaging with Gd-DTPA and USPIO. Tumor relative cerebral blood volume (rCBV) and relative maximum signal reduction ratio (rSRRmax) were created based on analysis of MR perfusion images. The mean values for rCBV were 2.09 and 1.57 in the USPIO and the Gd-DTPA groups, respectively, and rSRRmax values were 1.92 and 1.02 in the USPIO and the Gd-DTPA groups, respectively, showing signifi cant differences in both rCBV and rSRRmax between the USPIO and the Gd-DTPA groups (P < 0.05). The results showed that early vascular leakage occurred with gadolinium rather than USPIO in perfusion assessment, revealing that USPIO was useful in perfusion MR imaging for the assessment of tumor vasculature.

Background Climate change is an important factor driving vegetation changes in arid areas. Identifying the sensitivity of vegetation to climate variability is crucial for developing sustainable ecosystem management strategies. The Irtysh River is located in the westerly partition of China, and its vegetation cover is more sensitive to climate change. However, previous studies rarely studied the changes in the vegetation coverage of the Irtysh River and its sensitivity to climate factors from a spatiotemporal perspective. Methods We adopted a vegetation sensitivity index based on remote sensing datasets of high temporal resolution to study the sensitivity of vegetation to climatic factors in the Irtysh River basin, then reveal the driving mechanism of vegetation cover change. Results The results show that 88.09% of vegetated pixels show an increasing trend in vegetation coverage, and the sensitivity of vegetation to climate change presents spatial heterogeneity. Sensitivity of vegetation increases with the increase of coverage. Temperate steppe in the northern mountain and herbaceous swamp and broadleaf forest in the river valley, where the normalized difference vegetation index is the highest, show the strongest sensitivity, while the desert steppe in the northern plain, where the NDVI is the lowest, shows the strongest memory effect (or the strongest resilience). Relatively, the northern part of this area is more affected by a combination of precipitation and temperature, while the southern plains dominated by desert steppe are more sensitive to precipitation. The central river valley dominated by herbaceous swamp is more sensitive to temperature-vegetation dryness index. This study underscores that the sensitivity of vegetation cover to climate change is spatially differentiated at the regional scale.

Clustering is a process of dividing the research objects into different classes and has become an important statistical analysis technique in data mining; K-means clustering algorithm is widely used because of its excellent speed and high efficiency. However, the traditional K-means algorithm always falls into the partial optimized problem due to the random selection of the initial clustering centers, which makes the accuracy of clustering affected. In response to the problem, this paper proposes an improved K-means algorithm based on beetle antennae search. The improved algorithm uses BAS to optimize the initial clustering centers so that the clustering results can be more accurate. The simulation results show that compared with the traditional K-means algorithm, the improved algorithm improves both in efficiency and accuracy. are already defined on the style sheet, as illustrated by the portions given in this document.

Background. The Traditional Chinese Medicine NiuBeiXiaoHe (NBXH) is a valid antituberculosis (TB) prescription from the experience of clinical practice. However, the mechanism of NBXH extracts’ immunotherapy has been poorly understood. Herein, the immunotherapeutic efficacy and the differentially expressed (DE) genes of NBXH extracts were evaluated and identified in BALB/c mice. Methods. The total RNA was extracted from peripheral blood mononuclear cells, and the DE genes were identified by gene chip. The enrichment and signaling pathway analyses were performed using Gene Ontology (GO) and KEGG database. Results. It was shown that the treatment of NBXH extracts (high dose) significantly reduced mycobacteria loads and histopathological lesions in mice infected by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and resulted in 3,454 DE upregulated genes and 3,594 downregulated DE genes. Furthermore, NBXH extracts killed mycobacteria by inhibiting the supply of necessary ingredients for their growth and proliferation. They restored the disordered immune microenvironments by up- or downregulating immune and inflammation-related pathways. Conclusions. Taken together, NBXH extracts not only efficiently decreased the mycobacteria loads but also balanced the immune disorders in mice. These new findings provide a fresh perspective for elucidating the immunotherapeutic mechanism of NBXH extracts and pointed out the direction for improving the treatment efficacy of NBXH extracts.

A highly stereoselective umpolung 1,4-addition of vinyl bromides to enals is enabled by NHC/palladium cooperative catalysis, generating various valuable γ,δ-unsaturated carbonyl derivatives in excellent yields (up to 90%). A detailed mechanism investigation indicates the NHC act as both organocatalyst and ligand for palladium during this system.

This study aimed to explore the impact of different acquisition times on the evaluation of liver function levels in chronic hepatitis B using Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced T1 positioning technology under 3.0 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). A total of 146 patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) were classified into four groups as follows: chronic hepatitis B without liver cirrhosis (CH, 22 cases), liver cirrhosis with Child–Pugh classification A (LCA 63 cases), Child–Pugh B (LCB 47 cases) and Child–Pugh C (LCC 14 cases). Normal liver function (NLF) group was composed of 23 persons who had healthy liver and no medical histories of hepatitis. T1 mapping images were performed before and after administration of Gd-EOB-DPTA using Look-Locker sequence. Changes in T1 relaxation time (T1rt), the reduction rate of T1 relaxation time (ΔT1) and the increase in T1 relaxation rate (ΔR1) of liver over time (at 5, 10, 15 and 20 min) were investigated and compared among all five groups using a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient (r) was used to show the correlations of these parameters in different liver function groups. In the NLF, CH, LCA and LCB groups, postT1 gradually decreased, while the ΔT1 and ΔR1 gradually increased with time. The parameters were compared between different liver function levels at the same time point, and the differences were statistically significant except for NLF-CH, NLF-LCA and CH-LCA. There was no significant difference in the area under the ROC curve of other parameters at 10, 15 and 20 min. At each time point, no correlation was found between preT1rt and the degrees of liver function. PostT1rt was positively correlated with liver function classification, while ΔT1 and ΔR1 were negatively correlated with liver function classification. Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced T1 mapping magnetic resonance imaging is beneficial to assess liver function. Using the Gd-EOB-DTPA to enhance T1 mapping imaging to assess liver function can shorten the observation time of the hepatobiliary period and 10 min after enhancement may be the best time point.
