Within the current panorama of science evaluation, the limitations of citation indexes to study the social sciences and humanities have been the subject of wide debate. To resolve this situation, different products have been created for use in national contexts, since they cover certain aspects not contained in more international indices. An example is the In-RECS family, where an indicator such as the impact factor of Eugene Garfield is defined, but its contribution lies in the ability to evaluate research in Spain by obtaining citation indicators. This paper thus highlights the need to create new products for research evaluation in general, but particularly in the social sciences and humanities. The context in which different alternatives arise and are developed to evaluate existing journals is presented, along with Dialnet Metrics, a citation index developed by the Dialnet Foundation in collaboration with the EC3 Group and dozens of Spanish universities. Based on an analysis of the citations of source journals from different subject areas, Dialnet Metrics provides indicators to evaluate the research impact at different levels. This bibliometric product enables contextualized analysis at the micro (researchers), meso (journals), and macro (areas and universities) levels. A new evaluation and self-evaluation tool designed to measure the degree of visibility of the information literacy (infolit) services of Spanish academic libraries according to their websites is presented, together with the results of its application between October 2019 and February 2020. Building on the state of the art established by international organizations and the most prominent scholars in the field, the Metrics for Library Information Literacy (MeLIL) questionnaire also incorporates emerging problems in contemporary information literacy such as mobile learning, fake news, data literacy, transparency, and open science, among others. MeLIL is made up of six criteria and 38 indicators. After a pilot project with eight libraries to validate the questionnaire, the content of the websites on information literacy programs of the 78 Spanish academic libraries was analyzed. The results confirm the validity and transferability of the instrument to measure the level of development of infolit in Spanish academic libraries according to their websites. In this work the strategic plans of Spanish university libraries are studied, specifically, 47 publicly owned libraries. The essential part of the study has focused on analyzing allusions to communication in order to proceed to a comparative analysis between the different texts and check the aspects of organizational communication management that they reflect. Of the libraries analyzed, 28 use strategic plans, of which 85.7% address communication-related aspects. The most accurate and detailed information is in the actions (or strategies) and in some of the objectives. Se analizan las obras del siglo XVIII de la colección del Fondo Antiguo Digital de Biblioteca de la Universidad de Sevilla para localizar las partes elaboradas con papeles decorados, con la finalidad de clasificarlos y describirlos según las propuestas de la literatura especializada. Para ello, se recuperan los registros incluidos en el repositorio de la colección digital, se visualizan las reproducciones digitales de las obras, se identifican las partes con papeles decorados y se describen siguiendo el modelo de clasificación de papeles decorados, previamente elaborado, inspirado en los trabajos del profesor Carpallo Bautista. El modelo está formado por 6 técnicas y sus variantes. Dentro de los más de 6.700 ejemplares del siglo XVIII de la colección del Fondo Antiguo Digital, 511 incluyen papeles decorados en sus encuadernaciones.

The eighteenth century books from the collection of the old digital library of the Library University Seville are analyzed to locate the parts made with decorated papers, in order to classify and describe them according to the proposals of specialized literature. For this, the records included in the repository of the digital collection are recovered, the digital reproductions of the books are visualized, the parts with decorated papers are identified and described following the decorated papers classification model, previously elaborated, based on the research of Professor Carpallo Bautista. The model is made up of 6 techniques and their variants. Of the more than 6.700 records from the 18th century in the collection of the digital ancient collection, 511 include decorated papers in their bindings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The level of involvement that the 53 state public libraries and the 76 university libraries of Spain have with their multicultural and functional diversity groups is analyzed. For that, their service charters and their web sites were checked for explicit mentions of special services and resources for the aforementioned groups. As a main result, we obtain that both multiculturalism and people with functional diversity are underrepresented in the service charters of both types of libraries, with percentages of less than 5 % for multiculturalism and 35 % for functional diversity, and although these results are higher in the web sites of both library types, with percentages of less than 29 % for the multicultural community and 45 % for people with functional diversity, we cannot conclude favorably, since we consider it important to promote social awareness about the positive values of multiculturalism and functional diversity from the 100 % of public and university libraries. This work describes the management of interlibrary loans (PI) of the Córdoba University Libraries Agreement. The objectives to determine the level of use of the service, the percentage of documents obtained over the total number of requests made, the application of satisfaction surveys, the use of promotion / dissemination systems, the typology of users who use the service, the type of documents they request, the way libraries receive requests, the shipping methods used and the costs associated with the service were establised. It was also sought to identify the strengths and weaknesses regarding logistics and service management, the level of satisfaction with management software and the level of knowledge regarding IP regulations. A descriptive exploratory study with a quantitative approach was established. The design was cross-sectional framed in a field study whose units of analysis were the librarians in charge of the IP service and the directors of the ABUC member libraries. It was concluded that the greatest strength of the service is in access to other collections, which allows expanding the bibliographic heritage available to users. The major weaknesses of the interlibrary loan service were related to the problems related to the Cor-pib software and the sending and receiving of documents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

O relato de experiência consiste em texto que descreve as ações pioneiras do sistema de bibliotecas universitárias do Estado do Piauí (PI), a partir da instalação da primeira universidade pública federal, Universidade Federal do Piauí (UFPI), instituída em 21 de novembro de 1968, com a fusão das faculdades isoladas de Medicina, Odontologia, Filosofia, Direito e Administração e suas respectivas coleções bibliográficas, iniciando as atividades em janeiro de 1973, Campus Universitário Petrônio Portela, Teresina – PI. O relato centra-se na instalação e no desenvolvimento dos primeiros 11 anos de gestão da Biblioteca Central (BC) / UFPI, hoje, Biblioteca Comunitária Jornalista Carlos Castello Branco (BCCCB), que comemora 25 anos de existência. A motivação mor que justifica tal relato é preservar a memória da Instituição e de suas bibliotecas, além de motivar experiências similares. Isto porque, inevitavelmente, a história da BC / UFPI entrelaça-se com a trajetória da instituição à qual está ela atrelada e do próprio Estado, haja vista que conduz ao universo das bibliotecas e de suas instituições federais de ensino superior. De forma similar, mescla-se com a história da equipe dos anos iniciais, pondo em xeque o poder de resiliência da gestora pioneira, autora do relato, à frente da BC entre 1972 e 1981. Em termos estruturais, a priori, explanação sobre o status quo das bibliotecas universitárias para enfatizar o modus operandi da BC, à época, rumo à atuação da BCCCB, que constitui, nos dias atuais, um marco no âmago da sociedade piauiense, como biblioteca comunitária a serviço da população.

Na contemporaneidade, os repositórios institucionais possibilitam a reunião, armazenamento, tratamento, preservação e visibilidade dos recursos informacionais produzidos no âmbito acadêmico. Neste contexto, o objetivo da pesquisa foi investigar a representação temática da informação documental em repositórios institucionais no contexto de bibliotecas universitárias, por meio de entrevista semiestruturada de diagnóstico organizacional com gestores e bibliotecários catalogadores-indexadores dos repositórios institucionais da USP, UNESP e UNICAMP, com coleta de documentação. A sistematização da análise comparada no universo de repositórios institucionais investigado revela a necessidade de adequação destes sistemas de recuperação da informação no que tange à representação temática realizada pelo bibliotecário catalogador-indexador. Como considerações finais, salienta-se a importância da qualidade da representação temática dos recursos informacionais em repositórios institucionais, possibilitando a adequada recuperação por assuntos pela comunidade acadêmica.

O novo cenário que estamos vivenciando tem nos chamado a repensar o papel da biblioteca como suporte educacional à universidade, pois, em uma sociedade organizada em torno das Tecnologias Digitais e Informacionais e Comunicacionais, ela deve desenvolver serviços e produtos informacionais online para atender as necessidades informacionais da comunidade usuária interna e externa, visto que as Bibliotecas Universitárias (BU) na sociedade conectada são fundamentais para a produção do conhecimento científico e também para suprir as lacunas dos sujeitos diante do universo informacional. Este novo cenário tem obrigado o fechamento das bibliotecas no Brasil nas Instituições Federais de Ensino Superior, no entanto, muitas delas vem se reinventando no oferecimento de serviços e produtos informacionais online. Este artigo trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa de natureza básica utilizando o método exploratório e descritivo, com revisão bibliográfica referente à temática de inovação nas bibliotecas universitárias. O resultado de pesquisa foi coletado nos websites das bibliotecas da região norte do Brasil. O levantamento dos dados permitiu um melhor entendimento da forma como as BU da região do Brasil estão atendendo as necessidades informacionais de seus usuários no período de pandemia da COVID-19. Apesar de algumas das BUs não estarem desenvolvendo ações voltadas para a capacitação de sua comunidade acadêmica, ainda há aquelas que vem apoiando as atividades acadêmicas através de atitudes inovadoras na sociedade contemporânea, como a oferta de serviços e produtos informacionais de forma diversificada.

O advento da internet proporcionou a conectividade que promoveu uma queda das barreiras, principalmente na comunicação. A sociedade está em rede e a interação é fator preponderante e, principalmente, as unidades de informação devem estar presentes e se adequarem ao ambiente digital. O marketing digital se apresenta como uma estratégia para o sucesso e propõe o uso de métricas para aferir a participação da organização neste ambiente. Este artigo tem o objetivo de analisar a utilização do twitter do Sistema de Bibliotecas da Universidade Federal de Sergipe (SIBIUFS) como estratégia de marketing digital. A investigação tem caráter exploratório e descritivo, com abordagem quali-quantitativa e os instrumentos utilizados para coleta dos dados foram um questionário estruturado em formulário eletrônico, enviado através de e-mail ao gestor da rede social e um formulário construído para análise das postagens da mídia twitter do SIBIUFS realizadas no ano de 2018, através da aplicação das métricas de audiência e engajamento. Mediante análise dos dados coletados concluiu-se que a atuação do SIBIUFS na utilização de estratégias de marketing digital nas redes sociais, ainda é tímida e demanda a criação de uma politica que regulamente todas as práticas de marketing implementadas na unidade, e assim contribuir para o crescimento do grau de interação de seus usuários, possibilitar a disseminação e o compartilhamento de informações, além de promover o ambiente da biblioteca.

Con el objetivo de mejorar el servicio de acceso a los documentos se describen dos acciones, una enmarcada dentro del proceso de mejora continua del sistema de gestión de la calidad mediante el proyecto de simplificación de criterios del sistema de clasificación de libros y la otra, en el marco del proceso de innovación por medio del desarrollo de un GPS bibliográfico. Ambas se orientan a minimizar la dificultad de los usuarios para ubicar el material bibliográfico en el sistema de estanterí­as abiertas de la Biblioteca “Jean Sonet sj” de la Universidad Católica de Córdoba, situación que ha sido detectada desde que la biblioteca se mudó al nuevo edificio y ofreció esta nueva forma de acceso a los materiales. Luego de la ejecución de las acciones mencionadas, se ha observado una menor incidencia de consultas en el sector de atención al público sobre la ubicación de los documentos; a su vez, la valoración de los usuarios de este servicio fue altamente positiva.

En el presente trabajo se exploró el contenido y el estilo del mensaje en los reglamentos de las bibliotecas de las universidades públicas y privadas de la provincia de Córdoba (Argentina), buscando conocer la estructura que presentan y los aspectos normativos que incluyen. Se trabajó con los reglamentos publicados en sus páginas web analizando aspectos que contemplan, estructura del contenido, estilo de redacción y pertinencia de sentencias y mensajes, partiendo de la percepción de que los vocablos elegidos tienden a señalar restricciones y limitaciones con un tono negativo. Se observó diversidad en los estilos y se corroboró el uso de expresiones negativas en un alto porcentaje. Respecto de la estructura temática se detectó una diferenciación arbitraria que la muestra como unidades independientes que no siempre presentan la coherencia y la cohesión necesarias. No se determinó con certeza el fundamento primario sobre el que basan la elaboración de los reglamentos, sin embargo, se pudieron señalar algunas razones a partir del tipo de mandatos que establecen: ordenar la tarea del bibliotecario, orientar al usuario sobre los recursos disponibles, indicar su utilización adecuada para lograr el uso equitativo, eficiente y democrático o encuadrarse dentro de reglas estrictas. Queda planteada así­ la necesidad de investigar los fundamentos de la elaboración de estos reglamentos que, junto con los hallazgos presentados, parecen ser causales del desconocimiento y dificultad de aplicación. Finalmente, fue posible elaborar una serie de recomendaciones sobre su confección.

Objetivo: evaluar los servicios que prestan las bibliotecas universitarias en la ciudad de Medellín, contrastándolos por sexo y tipo de universidad. Método: se utilizó un estudio descriptivo, comparativo, exploratorio de tipo multidimensional, con preguntas de tipo cerrado, en escala dicótoma (de acuerdo, en desacuerdo) y multimodal (bueno, regular y malo). Se empleó análisis multivariado de varianza (MANOVA) con contraste canónico de tipo ortogonal, análisis factorial y análisis descriptivo exploratorio de tipo unidimensional. Resultados: las bibliotecas universitarias privadas cuentan con mayor tecnología en equipos computacionales y en servicios de conexión a internet, mientras las estatales poseen mejor material bibliográfico y atención al usuario, lo que permite un mejor desarrollo investigativo por parte de los estudiantes. En general, la percepción de los sexos es muy similar en lo referente al servicio que presta la biblioteca; la mayor diferencia se detectó en lo relacionado al aspecto ambiental, donde el sexo femenino tiene mejor concepto. Discusión y Conclusiones: en general, el concepto de los estudiantes con respecto a las bibliotecas universitarias, fue bueno, donde al 78% de ellos señaló que les gusta visitar la biblioteca.

Los objetivos de este artículo son cuatro: analizar las principales diferencias en torno a las dimensiones mejor valoradas de tres estudios sobre satisfacción de personas usuarias basados en LibQUAL+® llevados a cabo en bibliotecas universitarias de España, Argentina y Chile; analizar las diferencias atendiendo a la variable de género (hombres y muje­res); determinar si las diferencias en cuanto a género son estadísticamente significativas; y discutir y reflexionar sobre los resultados hallados en el ámbito concreto de las bibliotecas como reflejo de la realidad social en general. Los resultados per­miten concluir que en España las personas usuarias están menos satisfechas con la dimensión de la biblioteca como espacio, mientras que en Latinoamericana se percibe menor grado de satisfacción también con el control de la información. El mayor grado de satisfacción en todos los estudios se da en el valor afectivo del servicio. Las mujeres en España muestran menor satisfacción y mayor exigencia que los hombres en el valor afectivo del servicio. Además, se hallaron diferencias estadísti­camente significativas en el análisis de las medias por género. En la discusión se ponen en relación los resultados hallados con la literatura existente, definiendo los paradigmas posibles de la biblioteca informativa frente al de la social-creadora y la percepción de la satisfacción por géneros según el contexto social en que se hallan las bibliotecas. La limitación principal del artículo es que se basa en tres estudios concretos; y su principal valor y originalidad, que puede considerarse como punto de partida para futuras investigaciones sobre la cuestión de género en lo que a bibliotecas y los servicios que ofrecen se refiere.

A Biblioteconomia e a Ciência da Informação são dois campos que possuem intrínseca relação entre si, principalmente no Brasil. Contudo, apesar das convergências, essas áreas surgiram em períodos históricos diferentes e com objetivos de atender demandas bem específicas. Atualmente, percebe-se que a Biblioteconomia está mais centrada em questões relacionadas com responsabilidade social e democratização da educação, enquanto a Ciência da Informação foca seus esforços em pesquisas relacionadas à compreensão da informação enquanto fenômeno em diferentes contextos. Dentre estes, interessa a este artigo, a informação estratégica e profissional, dentro de organizações. Entre esses dois enfoques, está a biblioteca universitária, que ocupa um papel de destaque tanto na área da educação como na de planejamento estratégico de um país. Por isso, o propósito deste artigo é analisar as contribuições dos dois campos para a gestão de bibliotecas universitárias na atualidade. Por meio da revisão de literatura, conclui-se que as duas áreas fornecem insumos complementares que propiciam aos gestores dessas unidades criarem um ambiente e serviços que atendam de forma mais satisfatória seus usuários. A Biblioteconomia traz contribuições tanto na parte técnica quanto humanística para as bibliotecas universitárias, enquanto a Ciência da Informação contribui com questões relacionadas a instabilidade da sociedade atual, que demanda constantes redefinições dos serviços prestados.

Este artigo apresenta parte dos resultados de uma pesquisa de mestrado profissional e tem como objetivos descrever e mapear as etapas da digitalização da coleção Cadernos UFS: Geografia/ História existentes no Setor de Periódicos da biblioteca Central da Universidade Federal de Sergipe (UFS) e a sua implementação no repositório institucional para domínio público. Neste sentido, trata-se de uma pesquisa do tipo descritiva, qualitativa, que apresenta um estudo de caso estruturado a partir de um projeto de intervenção que consistiu na digitalização de cinquenta artigos contidos na coleção Cadernos UFS: Geografia / História, produzidos no período de 1995 até 2010. Como metodologia, o processo passou por quatro etapas, iniciando pela descrição dos procedimentos de digitalização documental, pela escolha dos metadados, pela implantação dos dados digitalizados no repositório institucional e, por fim, pela divulgação e publicidade das revistas. Dentre os resultados obtidos, os de maior representatividade foram: a recuperação da informação científica contida nos Cadernos UFS, o aumento da visibilidade dos periódicos pela comunidade acadêmica e a informação científica em acesso livre. Conclui-se que é possível viabilizar o acesso aberto ao conhecimento e, concomitantemente, preservar a integridade do documento e a memória institucional, auxiliando no processo educacional, na mediação e disseminação da informação e na formação cognitiva de novos e melhores sujeitos informacionais.

Se analiza el grado de conocimiento e implantación de la tecnología Big Data y sus características principales en las bibliotecas universitarias españolas inscritas en REBIUN con el objetivo de observar si estas instituciones se encuentran capacitadas para la utilización y aprovechamiento de las ventajas del tratamiento masivo de datos. Los datos son obtenidos mediante un cuestionario cuya respuesta proviene de fuentes internas de las bibliotecas, a partir de los cuales se establecen una serie de conclusiones junto a unas propuestas de mejora y líneas de trabajo futuras que permitan la correcta implantación, uso y aprovechamiento del Big Data en la oferta de servicios y funciones de las bibliotecas universitarias españolas.

É papel do profissional Bibliotecário ir além da reflexão do que é Responsabilidade Social (RS), vivenciando sua prática de forma efetiva no dia a dia de suas atividades. Sob esse olhar, o principal objetivo deste trabalho é relatar a experiência de uma biblioteca universitária no interior do Estado de Pernambuco na promoção de ações dessa natureza. O recorte aponta 10 anos de práticas de Responsabilidade social pelos bibliotecários da Biblioteca do Centro Acadêmico de Vitória (CAV) da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. No estudo, são apresentados projetos de criação de bibliotecas para comunidade, de cursos de incentivo pré-vestibular, inclusão sociodigital, sustentabilidade e uso das mídias sociais como instrumento de inserção social. Neste contexto, desenvolver ações de Responsabilidade social tem sido uma prática voluntária e contínua dos bibliotecários do CAV, pois ao promoverem o bem-estar de seu público devolvem à sociedade um pouco daquilo que está sendo investido.

La acreditación de las universidades en Ecuador ha favorecido la aplicación de indicadores a las bibliotecas universitarias. El objetivo de esta investigación es conocer el estado de los servicios digitales de las bibliotecas universitarias ecuatorianas, con el fin de obtener información relevante para la puesta en marcha de procesos institucionales de evaluación en un futuro. Para conocer datos objetivos, se envió una encuesta a los directores de cincuenta y seis bibliotecas; a través de la cual se obtienen resultados sobre los servicios digitales implantados y reflexiones sobre aspectos transversales de la gestión de bibliotecas universitarias y la política bibliotecaria del país.

In a context marked by the accelerated technological development and by the cons¬tant generation, renewal and obsolescence of knowledge, library institutions require the permanent analysis of their environment to carry out their current and future functions in a relevant and quality manner. Based on researches carried out by the Consejo Nacional para Asuntos Bibliotecarios A. C. [Na¬tional Council for Library Affairs A. C.] (CONPAB - IES) 2015, and on the analysis of current literature that refers to the future of the university library in the world, this article analyzes the situation and prospective of the library systems affiliated with the Council, in order to provide a model of the educational, technological, locative and economic chan¬ges that libraries have gone through and, therefore, to induce reflection for the implementation of strategies that allow the library institution to position itself effectively in its current and future environment.

Academic libraries exist within the context of their specific institutions and share with these broader political, social and policy environments. The effects of technological innovation have been rapid, significant and well-documented; consequently, libraries have responded positively to these changes in the way people read, communicate and research by providing digital content and renewing spaces to support their users' new work and information needs. The article includes some contributions and studies that demonstrate the value of the cadademic library for its institutions and users, as well as the most relevant future trends in this context

A pesquisa tem por objetivo o estudo da implantação e das perspectivas de uso das mídias sociais por bibliotecas universitárias do Brasil, Estados Unidos e Inglaterra. Visa analisar os desafios e possibilidades na utilização dessas tecnologias para a realização das atividades nas bibliotecas, comparando as práticas de interação social com os usuários. Os procedimentos metodológicos se caracterizam pela análise e descrição dos perfis de nove bibliotecas na rede social Facebook, sendo três delas situadas nos Estados Unidos da América, três no Brasil e três na Inglaterra. Trata-se de um estudo de natureza descritiva com amostras não probabilísticas e por conveniência, com o uso dos métodos comparativo e indutivo por pesquisa de campo e a coleta de dados quanti-qualitativa por observação. Os resultados foram obtidos através de análise descritiva a partir de buscas aplicadas nas mídias sociais, identificando por meio de critérios estabelecidos, as informações e os conteúdos disponibilizados nessas plataformas. Conclui que a implantação dessas ferramentas em bibliotecas universitárias traz benefícios para suas atividades, mas requer planejamento e monitoramento constantes em prol da melhoria eficiente e eficaz na prestação de produtos e serviços, bem como no atendimento aos usuários mediante as possibilidades de comunicação e interação oferecidas por essas plataformas.

La educación, como principio de formación integral, adquiere una relevancia y una función primordiales en el ciberespacio, por ello se analizan los modelos pedagógicos para el aprendizaje en los entornos web y las implicaciones del acceso abierto en educación. Asimismo, se argumenta la función decidida que tiene y puede tener la biblioteca universitaria, que se ha transformado en centros de recursos de aprendizaje e investigación (CRAI), para ser un factor decisivo en el nuevo modelo educativo. Las competencias en información para el aprendizaje y la investigación se convierten en las competencias digitales que deben ser adquiridas, para que los estudiantes de educación superior desarrollen experiencias de aprendizaje exitosas en los nuevos ambientes y entornos de aprendizaje. Por ello, bibliotecarios y docentes requieren contar con indicadores que enuncien desde el modelo de competencia los resultados de aprendizaje que deben ser desarrollados para ser considerados competentes en el uso de la información.

With the aim of improving the document access service, two actions are described, one framed within the process of continuous improvement of the quality management system through the project to simplify the classification of the racks and the other, within the framework of the innovation process through the development of a bibliographic GPS. Both are aimed at minimizing the difficulty for users to locate bibliographic material in the open shelving system of the Jean Sonet sj Library at the Catholic University of Córdoba, a situation that has been detected since the library moved to the new building by offering direct access to the shelves. A er the execution of the aforementioned actions, a lower incidence of consultations in the public service sector on the location of documents has been observed; in turn, the evaluation of the users of this service was highly positive. The present article explores the content and style of the message from the regulations of the public and private university libraries of the province of Córdoba (Argentina). The aim was to know the structure and the normative aspects that include. The regulations were studied from their web pages considering aspects, content structure, writing style and relevance of messages. This investigation started with the perception that the words and sentences chosen tended to indicate restrictions and limitations with a negative tone. Diversity on styles was observed and the use of negative expressions was corroborated in high percentages. Regarding the thematic structure, an arbitrary differentiation was detected that shows it as independent units that do not always have the necessary coherence and cohesion. The primary basis on which they base the elaboration of the regulations was not determined with certainty, however some reasons could be pointed out from the type of mandates they establish: order the librarian #s task; guide the library users on the available resources, indicate their proper use to achieve equitable, efficient and democratic use or fit within strict rules. In this way, the need to investigate the fundamentals of the elaboration of these regulations is raised, which, together with the findings presented, seem to be the cause of ignorance and difficulty of application. The emergence of new online media over the last decade has enabled the creation of innovative models focused on discovering mixed financing formulas, new information proposals, and the defense of democratic values, resulting in more plural and reader-oriented journalism. However, unlike in the past with newspapers, this new digital press currently plays little role in universities. To determine the causes of this low prominence of digital newspapers in university libraries, we study the presence of the ten most widely read digital native newspapers in Spain (El español, El confidencial, Ok diario, Economía digital, Eldiario.es, Huffington post, Periodista digital, Publico.es, Vozpópuli, and Libertad digital) according to the reference metrics of the Comscore digital audiences in the 260 educational centers included in the Web Ranking of Universities produced by the Cybermetrics Lab of the Institute of Public Goods and Policies (IPP) of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). The results show that only seven universities (Autonomous University of Barcelona, University of Granada, University of Seville, University of the Basque Country, Carlos III University of Madrid, Camilo José Cela University, and Pontifical University of Salamanca) provide professors and students with access to current and retrospective content of all these media practically since their foundation. The Covid-19 pandemic has brought about notable changes in our society, including new forms of relationships and work. It has especially affected the professions related to the health system, which includes health science librarians, who are responsible for providing up-to-date and high-quality information to health workers on the front line of this fight. This article presents the work of a group of professionals working in Spanish health science libraries (#AyudaBiblioteca), organized to collaborate and provide a better response to the information needs resulting from Covid-19. It has 90 participants, mainly from hospital libraries, as well as from research organizations, scientific societies, professional associations, ministries, universities, health technology evaluation agencies, and independent professionals. WhatsApp has been used as a means of communication, and Google Drive as a document repository. Resources are displayed on a public website, and search strategies are deposited in Diigo. Twitter is used with the hashtags #AyudaBiblioteca and #COVID19 as an external means of communication to receive and disseminate information. This collaboration has allowed us to join forces in the search for and coordinate collection of reliable, evidence-based, proven, and high-quality information, demonstrating the benefits of teleworking and online collaboration. The benefits of open science and how it improves research are also reflected upon. Spanish university libraries have had to adapt their services to the virtual environment after the classroom-based teaching lockdown in March 2020 due to Covid-19. Given the possibility of a greater virtual dimension of learning and teaching during the next academic year, these library services should be improved. This paper analyzes how university libraries are strengthening their support for online learning and are progressively being integrated into the virtual campus, as well as the actions that are necessary to enhance these services and the main difficulties perceived by their librarians. For this purpose, a sample of professionals from university libraries was interviewed, and the research literature on this subject was also reviewed to identify the main international experiences that can be considered as benchmarks for improving virtual library services. Both the research literature and the librarians interviewed agree on two aspects: the need to increase collaboration with other university departments and the wide scope for improvement in the integration of the library into online learning, which is currently limited. Indexing has variables that involve users, the organization, and the conceptual analysis and translation procedure itself, with the use of documentary languages and for that reason the indexing policy becomes an essential discussion for this activity, starting from the premise of standardizing the indexing process that occurs from the stages of subject analysis and translation of terms. The research aims to investigate the elements of indexing policy in university libraries in healthcare area of an integrated library system at Brazilian Federal University. The methodological path is characterized as exploratory with a case study based on the qualitative analysis of questionnaires applied with four catalogers from four sectoral libraries in the health area. In the results analysis, some elements of the indexing policy in common between the sectoral libraries have been identified, however, those elements have appeared without a standardization, reinforcing that there is no effective dialogue between these libraries. It is concluded that the absence of an indexing policy in the sectoral healthcare libraries cause a non-systematization of indexing procedures and the reflection on this activity for the representation of information, reinforcing the need to elaborate an indexing policy. The content available on the Web and in digital media has fundamentally changed the dynamics of the operation and management of the library's mission, which in turn is leading to a shift in the professional responsibilities and skills of librarians, and the potential for training is appreciated as a major resource at a time when the library's mission and the librarian's role are being questioned. Thus, a librarian, more than a manager of books, videos and digital files, should be considered a key member of his/her community and of the relations with his/her environment, focusing his/her work on advice and learning, on transversal skills, due to his/her experience in the knowledge of methodologies, flows and channels of information; aspects that are of essential value in the new learning and research environment, especially in the higher education environment. The article systematizes the participation of the university library and the librarian as a stakeholder, and trusted partner in the new higher learning ecosystem through the tasks of training, advising and literacy in information skills of students and researchers in their institution. It is analyzed the degree of knowledge and implementation of Big Data technology and its main characteristics in the Spanish university libraries registered in REBIUN, with the objective of observing if these institutions are qualified for the use of the advantages of the massive data processing. The data is obtained by means of a questionnaire, whose response comes from internal sources of the libraries, from which a series of conclusions are established together with proposals for improvement and future lines of work that allow the correct implementation, use and exploitation of the Big Data in the offer of services and functions of the Spanish university libraries. The advent of the internet provided connectivity that brought down barriers, especially in communication. Society is in a network, and interaction is a major factor; in this context, information units must be present and adapted to the digital environment. Digital marketing presents itself as a strategy for success and proposes the use of metrics to measure the organization's participation in this environment. This article aims to analyze the use of twitter from the Library System of the Federal University of Sergipe (SIBIUFS) as a digital marketing strategy. The investigation is characterized as exploratory and descriptive, with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The instruments used for data collection were a questionnaire structured in an electronic form, sent via email to the social network manager, and a form built to analyze SIBIUFS' posts on twitter in 2018, through the application of audience and engagement metrics. Through the analysis of the data collected, it was concluded that SIBIUFS' performance in the use of digital marketing strategies in social networks is still timid and demands the creation of a policy that regulates all marketing practices implemented in the unit and, thus, contribute to the increase of the degree of user interaction, enabling the dissemination and sharing of information, in addition to promoting the library environment. In present times, the institutional repositories enable the gathering, storage, treatment, preservation and visibility of informational resources produced in the academic field. The objective of the research was to investigate the thematic representation of documentary information in institutional repositories in the context of academic libraries, by means of the application of organizational diagnostic interviews as a qualitative methodology with the managers of the institutional repositories and catalogers-indexers librarians from USP, UNESP and UNICAMP, with documentation collection. The systematize of the comparative analysis of the universe of institutional repositories investigated revealed the need for institutional repositories adequacy in the thematic representation performed by the cataloguer-indexer librarian. As closing remarks, the importance of the quality of thematic representation of informational resources in institutional repositories is emphasized, enabling the appropriate retrieval by subjects by the academic community. Introduction: The new scenario that we are experiencing has called us to rethink the role of the library as an educational support for the university, because, in a society organized around Digital and Informational and Communication Technologies, it must develop digital services and products to meet the needs of information from the internal and external user community, since the University Libraries (BU) in the connected society are fundamental for the production of scientific knowledge and also to fill the gaps of the subjects in the face of the dissemination of knowledge. This new scenario has forced the closure of libraries in Brazil, especially in the Federal Institutions of Higher Education, however, many of them have been reinventing themselves in offering services and information products online, despite the challenges imposed, they are adapting to the changes that occurred in the over time. Method: This article is a qualitative research of a basic nature using the exploratory and descriptive method, with a bibliographic review on the theme of innovation in university libraries. The research result was collected on the websites of libraries in the northern region of Brazil. The survey of the data allowed a better understanding of the way in which BUs in the region of Brazil are meeting the information needs of their users during the pandemic period of COVID-19. Conclusion: Although some of the BUs are not developing actions aimed at training their academic community, there are still those that have been supporting academic activities through innovative attitudes in contemporary society, such as offering information services and products in a diversified way. Librarianship and Information Science are two fields that have intrinsic relation between each other, mainly in Brazil. However, in spite of the convergences, these areas arose in different historical periods and with objectives to meet very specific demands. Currently, it is noticed that Librarianship is more focused on issues related to social responsibility and democratization of education, while Information Science focuses its efforts on research in order to understand information as a phenomenon in different contexts. Among these, this article is interesting, in the strategic and professional information, usually within organizations. Between these two approaches is the university library, which occupies a prominent role in the area of education as well as strategic planning of a country. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to analyze the contributions of the two fields for the management of university libraries today. Through the literature review, it is concluded that the two areas provide complementary inputs that allow the mana$gers of these units to create an environment and services that meet the needs of their users in a more satisfactorily way. Librarianship brings both technical and humanistic contributions to university libraries, while Information Science contributes to issues related to the instability of today's society, which demands constant redefinition of the services provided. This article presents part of the results of a professional master's research and aims to describe and map the steps of the scanning of the Cadernos UFS: Geografia/ History collection in the Setor de Periódicos da biblioteca Central da Universidade Federal de Sergipe (UFS) and its implementation in the repository for public domain. In the methodology was adopted research of the descriptive, qualitative type, that presents a case study from an intervention project that consisted in the digitalization of fifty articles contained in the collection Cadernos UFS: Geografia/History, produced in the period from 1995 to 2010. The process went through four stages, beginning with a description of the documentary digitization procedures, the choice of metadata, the implementation of the digitized data in the institutional repository and, finally, the publicity and publicity of the journals. Among the results obtained, the most representative were: the retrieval of the scientific information contained in the Cadernos UFS, the increase of the visibility of the journals by the academic community and the scientific information in open access. It is concluded that it is possible to provide open access to knowledge and, at the same time, to preserve the integrity of the document and institutional memory, assisting in the educational process, mediation and dissemination of information and in the cognitive training of new and better information subjects. Twenty ways in which libraries can be embedded into online learning are compiled and systematized based on professional literature. The goal is to create a list for libraries that are considering such integration. The purpose of this work is to check if the libraries of the universities of Madrid and Catalonia offer the use of some of their spaces as a library service. The information of the websites of the libraries is studied and a questionnaire is sent to the libraries that do not have this information. The analyzed aspects are: quantity and variety of spaces, use or not use of the websites to promote the offer of this type of services, location of this information on the websites and content provided. Among the results of the analysis of the 30 universities studied, it has been proven, for example, that 23 universities offer some of their library spaces as a service, of which 20 indicate it on the websites of the libraries; that the variety of spaces offered includes 26 different types, highlighting for their greater presence the space available for group work (21 universities), individual and / or silence work spaces (12 universities) or computer spaces (10 universities), etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
