The Jean Monnet Network ‘EU-China Legal and Judicial Cooperation’ (EUPLANT) investigates the interactions between the Chinese and the EuropeanUnion (EU) legal and judicial systems and promotes excellence in teaching and research on EU-China legal and judicial cooperation. Through a set of research, policy and outreach activities, EUPLANT creates new avenues for enhanced academic and policy cooperation between the EU and China and engenders a better understanding of each other’s legal systems. In this report, academic experts from the network and beyond look into some of the key overarching themes of the network relating to the prospects and challenges for the internationalisation of EU law in EU-China relations as well as EU-China judicial cooperation. It includes a set of policy recommendations targeting policy makers and other stakeholders that have an interest in the deepening of EU-China legal and judicial cooperation.

Microalgae cultivation on tannery wastewater (TWW) has been examined in some studies as a possible biological application to reduce contamination load and discharge effluents safely. However, Growth aspects, different tolerate strains and enriching the medium were not well investigated. In our study we applied Scenedesmus sp., Chlorella variabilis and Chlorella sorokiniana with different TWW concentrations. C. sorokiniana and C. variabilis cell density, chlorophyll, and sugar content grew substantially as compared to control. C.sorokiniana biomass and total lipids folded three and two times in 25% and 40% TWW, respectively as compared to control. Scenedesmus sp. showed longer lag phase and lower performance compared to the other two strains. Kelp waste extract (KWE) was added to balance the nutrients supply for C. sorokiniana, of which growth and effluents indicators were then greatly promoted in all concentrations. As the lag phase was shortened from 8 to 4 days in 60% concentration, subsequently, chlorophyll, carbohydrates, biomass and total lipids appreciated by 184%, 400%, 162% and 135%, respectively. Furthermore, the COD and ammonium removals improved by 51% and 45%, respectively. These outcomes emphasize the suitability of using TWW for microalgae cultivation with the suitable concentration while adding kelp waste extract for further enhancement.

Macro- and micro-mechanics viscoelastic model for composite solid propellant was proposed. The adhesive energy has an important influence on the behavior of composite solid propellant. It was shown that as the adhesive energy increases, the strength of propellant increases. Meanwhile, the mechanical response of HTPB/AP interface is modeled by the bilinear cohesive zone model describing the debonding process. According to the cohesive zone model, one-side AP tester and sandwich apparatus were designed to determine the value of adhesive energy between the binder and AP, respectively. Based on the sandwich apparatus, the energy per unit area of completely interfacial debonding without MAPO is equal to 14 J/m2, and lower limit of adhesive energy per unit area of completely interfacial debonding with MAPO is determined. According to the test result of one-side AP and the numerical simulation of macro- and micro-mechanics viscoelastic algorithm, it can conclude that the failure mode of HTPB/AP in composite solid propellant is the similarly interfacial debonding, instead of fully interfacial debonding.

A new species of Lucanidae is described from Tibet, China, Lucanus shulini sp. nov. (Coleoptera: Lucanidae: Lucaninae). Significant morphological characters of the new species are illustrated by color plates., Un nouveau Lucanidae est décrit du Tibet, Chine : Lucanus shulini n. sp. (Coleoptera: Lucanidae: Lucaninae). Ses caractéristiquesmorphologiques sont représentées et comparées à celles de l’espèce la plus proche : Lucanus liupengyui Huang & Chen, 2017.
