Abstract: A measurement of the time-integrated CP asymmetry in the Cabibbo-suppressed decay D0→K−K+ is performed using pp collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1, collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The flavour of the charm meson at production is determined from the charge of the pion in D⁎+→D0π+ and D⁎−→D‾0π− decays. The time-integrated CP asymmetry ACP(K−K+) is obtained assuming negligible CP violation in charm mixing and in Cabibbo-favoured D0→K−π+, D+→K−π+π+ and D+→K‾0π+ decays used as calibration channels. It is found to be ACP(K−K+)=(0.14±0.15 (stat)±0.10 (syst))%. A combination of this result with previous LHCb measurements yields ACP(K−K+)=(0.04±0.12 (stat)±0.10 (syst))%,ACP(π−π+)=(0.07±0.14 (stat)±0.11 (syst))%. These are the most precise measurements from a single experiment. The result for ACP(K−K+) is the most precise determination of a time-integrated CP asymmetry in the charm sector to date, and neither measurement shows evidence of CP asymmetry.

Abstract: The production of tt‾, W+bb‾ and W+cc‾ is studied in the forward region of proton–proton collisions collected at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.98±0.02 fb−1. The W bosons are reconstructed in the decays W→ℓν, where ℓ denotes muon or electron, while the b and c quarks are reconstructed as jets. All measured cross-sections are in agreement with next-to-leading-order Standard Model predictions.

Differences in the behaviour of matter and antimatter have been observed in K and B meson decays, but not yet in any baryon decay. Such differences are associated with the non-invariance of fundamental interactions under the combined charge-conjugation and parity transformations, known as CP violation. Here, using data from the LHCb experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, we search for CP-violating asymmetries in the decay angle distributions of Λb0 baryons decaying to pπ- π+ π- and pπ-K+K- final states. These four-body hadronic decays are a promising place to search for sources of CP violation both within and beyond the standard model of particle physics. We find evidence for CP violation in Λb0 to pπ- π+ π- decays with a statistical significance corresponding to 3.3 standard deviations including systematic uncertainties. This represents the first evidence for CP violation in the baryon sector.

Abstract: A search for the rare two-body charmless baryonic decay B+→ pΛ¯ is performed with pp collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1, collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. An excess of B+→pΛ¯ candidates with respect to background expectations is seen with a statistical significance of 4.1 standard deviations, and constitutes the first evidence for this decay. Abstract: A search for a long-lived scalar particle χ is performed, looking for the decay B+→K+χ with χ→μ+μ- in pp collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb-1, collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of s=7 and 8 TeV. This new scalar particle, predicted by hidden sector models, is assumed to have a narrow width. The signal would manifest itself as an excess in the dimuon invariant mass distribution over the Standard Model background. No significant excess is observed in the accessible ranges of mass 250

Abstract: Using proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb^{-1}, recorded by the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, the B_{c}^{+}→D^{0}K^{+} decay is observed with a statistical significance of 5.1 standard deviations. By normalizing to B^{+}→D[over ¯]^{0}π^{+} decays, a measurement of the branching fraction multiplied by the production rates for B_{c}^{+} relative to B^{+} mesons in the LHCb acceptance is obtained, R_{D^{0}K}=(f_{c}/f_{u})×B(B_{c}^{+}→D^{0}K^{+})=(9.3_{-2.5}^{+2.8}±0.6)×10^{-7}, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This decay is expected to proceed predominantly through weak annihilation and penguin amplitudes, and is the first B_{c}^{+} decay of this nature to be observed.

Abstract: A measurement of the phase difference between the short- and long-distance contributions to the [Formula: see text] decay is performed by analysing the dimuon mass distribution. The analysis is based on pp collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3[Formula: see text] collected by the LHCb experiment in 2011 and 2012. The long-distance contribution to the [Formula: see text] decay is modelled as a sum of relativistic Breit-Wigner amplitudes representing different vector meson resonances decaying to muon pairs, each with their own magnitude and phase. The measured phases of the [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] resonances are such that the interference with the short-distance component in dimuon mass regions far from their pole masses is small. In addition, constraints are placed on the Wilson coefficients, [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], and the branching fraction of the short-distance component is measured.

Abstract: Measurements of charm mixing and CP violation parameters from the decay-time-dependent ratio of D0→K+π- to D0→K-π+ decay rates and the charge-conjugate ratio are reported. The analysis uses B-→D∗+μ-X, and charge-conjugate decays, where D∗+→D0π+, and D0→Kπ±. The pp collision data are recorded by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies s=7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb-1. The data are analyzed under three hypotheses: (i) mixing assuming CP symmetry, (ii) mixing assuming no direct CP violation in the Cabibbo-favored or doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay amplitudes, and (iii) mixing allowing either direct CP violation and/or CP violation in the superpositions of flavor eigenstates defining the mass eigenstates. The data are also combined with those from a previous LHCb study of D0→Kπ decays from a disjoint set of D∗+ candidates produced directly in pp collisions. In all cases, the data are consistent with the hypothesis of CP symmetry.

Abstract: A search for the non-resonant decays Bs0 → μ+μ−μ+μ− and B0 → μ+μ−μ+μ− is presented. The measurement is performed using the full Run 1 data set collected in proton-proton collisions by the LHCb experiment at the LHC. The data correspond to integrated luminosities of 1 and 2 fb−1 collected at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, respectively. No signal is observed and upper limits on the branching fractions of the non-resonant decays at 95% confidence level are determined to beℬ(Bs0→μ+μ−μ+μ−)

Abstract: A search for the B^{0}→K^{+}K^{-} decay is performed using pp-collision data collected by LHCb. The data set corresponds to integrated luminosities of 1.0 and 2.0 fb^{-1} at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, respectively. This decay is observed for the first time, with a significance of more than 5 standard deviations. The analysis also results in an improved measurement of the branching fraction for the B_{s}^{0}→π^{+}π^{-} decay. The measured branching fractions are B(B^{0}→K^{+}K^{-})=(7.80±1.27±0.81±0.21)×10^{-8} and B(B_{s}^{0}→π^{+}π^{-})=(6.91±0.54±0.63±0.19±0.40)×10^{-7}. The first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, the third is due to the uncertainty on the B^{0}→K^{+}π^{-} branching fraction used as a normalization. For the B_{s}^{0} mode, the fourth accounts for the uncertainty on the ratio of the probabilities for b quarks to hadronize into B_{s}^{0} and B^{0} mesons.

Abstract: A search for the decays Bc+→J/ψD(∗)0K+ and Bc+→J/ψD(∗)+K∗0 is performed with data collected at the LHCb experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb-1. The decays Bc+→J/ψD0K+ and Bc+→J/ψD∗0K+ are observed for the first time, while first evidence is reported for the Bc+→J/ψD∗+K∗0 and Bc+→J/ψD+K∗0 decays. The branching fractions of these decays are determined relative to the Bc+→J/ψπ+ decay. The Bc+ mass is measured, using the J/ψD0K+ final state, to be 6274.28±1.40(stat)±0.32(syst) MeV/c2. This is the most precise single measurement of the Bc+ mass to date.

No evidence is found for the decays, and upper limits at 90% confidence level are determined to be B(B+→K+K+π−)

Abstract: A search is made for the highly-suppressed B meson decays B+→K+K+π− and B+→π+π+K− using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1 collected by the LHCb experiment in proton–proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. No evidence is found for the decays, and upper limits at 90% confidence level are determined to be B(B+→K+K+π−)

Abstract: The decays [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] are observed for the first time using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb[Formula: see text], collected by the LHCb experiment in proton-proton collisions at the centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8[Formula: see text]. The branching fractions relative to that of [Formula: see text] are measured to be [Formula: see text]where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.

Abstract: The first full amplitude analysis of B^{+}→J/ψϕK^{+} with J/ψ→μ^{+}μ^{-}, ϕ→K^{+}K^{-} decays is performed with a data sample of 3 fb^{-1} of pp collision data collected at sqrt[s]=7 and 8 TeV with the LHCb detector. The data cannot be described by a model that contains only excited kaon states decaying into ϕK^{+}, and four J/ψϕ structures are observed, each with significance over 5 standard deviations. The quantum numbers of these structures are determined with significance of at least 4 standard deviations. The lightest has mass consistent with, but width much larger than, previous measurements of the claimed X(4140) state.

Abstract: The polarization of photons produced in radiative B_{s}^{0} decays is studied for the first time. The data are recorded by the LHCb experiment in pp collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb^{-1} at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. A time-dependent analysis of the B_{s}^{0}→ϕγ decay rate is conducted to determine the parameter A^{Δ}, which is related to the ratio of right- over left-handed photon polarization amplitudes in b→sγ transitions. A value of A^{Δ}=-0.98_{-0.52}^{+0.46}_{-0.20}^{+0.23} is measured. This result is consistent with the standard model prediction within 2 standard deviations.

Abstract: The decays [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] are observed for the first time using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb[Formula: see text], collected by the LHCb experiment in proton-proton collisions at the centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8[Formula: see text]. The branching fractions relative to that of [Formula: see text] are measured to be [Formula: see text]where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.

Abstract: Two new algorithms for use in the analysis of [Formula: see text] collision are developed to identify the flavour of [Formula: see text] mesons at production using pions and protons from the hadronization process. The algorithms are optimized and calibrated on data, using [Formula: see text] decays from [Formula: see text] collision data collected by LHCb at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV . The tagging power of the new pion algorithm is 60% greater than the previously available one; the algorithm using protons to identify the flavour of a [Formula: see text] meson is the first of its kind.

Abstract: A measurement of the phase difference between the short- and long-distance contributions to the [Formula: see text] decay is performed by analysing the dimuon mass distribution. The analysis is based on pp collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3[Formula: see text] collected by the LHCb experiment in 2011 and 2012. The long-distance contribution to the [Formula: see text] decay is modelled as a sum of relativistic Breit-Wigner amplitudes representing different vector meson resonances decaying to muon pairs, each with their own magnitude and phase. The measured phases of the [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] resonances are such that the interference with the short-distance component in dimuon mass regions far from their pole masses is small. In addition, constraints are placed on the Wilson coefficients, [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], and the branching fraction of the short-distance component is measured.

Abstract: A search for CP violation in D±→η′π± and Ds±→η′π± decays is performed using proton–proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1, recorded by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The measured CP-violating charge asymmetries are ACP(D±→η′π±)=(−0.61±0.72±0.53±0.12)% and ACP(Ds±→η′π±)=(−0.82±0.36±0.22±0.27)%, where the first uncertainties are statistical, the second systematic, and the third are the uncertainties on the ACP(D±→KS0π±) and ACP(Ds±→ϕπ±) measurements used for calibration. The results represent the most precise measurements of these asymmetries to date.

Abstract: The CP violation observables S and C in the decay channel B^{0}→D^{+}D^{-} are determined from a sample of proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, collected by the LHCb experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb^{-1}. The observable S describes CP violation in the interference between mixing and the decay amplitude, and C parametrizes direct CP violation in the decay. The following values are obtained from a flavor-tagged, decay-time-dependent analysis: S=-0.54_{-0.16}^{+0.17}(stat)±0.05(syst), C=0.26_{-0.17}^{+0.18}(stat)±0.02(syst). These values provide evidence for CP violation at a significance level of 4.0 standard deviations. The phase shift due to higher-order standard model corrections is constrained to a small value of Δϕ=-0.16_{-0.21}^{+0.19} rad.

Abstract: A search is presented for massive long-lived particles, in the 20-60 [Formula: see text] mass range with lifetimes between 5 and 100 [Formula: see text]. The dataset used corresponds to 0.62[Formula: see text] of proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb detector at [Formula: see text]. The particles are assumed to be pair-produced by the decay of a Higgs-like boson with mass between 80 and 140 [Formula: see text]. No excess above the background expectation is observed and limits are set on the production cross-section as a function of the long-lived particle mass and lifetime and of the Higgs-like boson mass.

Abstract: Measurements of the differential branching fraction and angular moments of the decay B0 → K+π−μ+μ− in the K+π− invariant mass range 1330 < m(K+π−) < 1530 MeV/c2 are presented. Proton-proton collision data are used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1 collected by the LHCb experiment. Differential branching fraction measurements are reported in five bins of the invariant mass squared of the dimuon system, q2, between 0.1 and 8.0 GeV2/c4. For the first time, an angular analysis sensitive to the S-, P- and D-wave contributions of this rare decay is performed. The set of 40 normalised angular moments describing the decay is presented for the q2 range 1.1-6.0 GeV2/c4.

Abstract: Measurements of the differential branching fraction and angular moments of the decay B0 → K+π−μ+μ− in the K+π− invariant mass range 1330 < m(K+π−) < 1530 MeV/c2 are presented. Proton-proton collision data are used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1 collected by the LHCb experiment. Differential branching fraction measurements are reported in five bins of the invariant mass squared of the dimuon system, q2, between 0.1 and 8.0 GeV2/c4. For the first time, an angular analysis sensitive to the S-, P- and D-wave contributions of this rare decay is performed. The set of 40 normalised angular moments describing the decay is presented for the q2 range 1.1-6.0 GeV2/c4.

Abstract: A study of Bc+→K+K-π+ decays is performed for the first time using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb-1 collected by the LHCb experiment in pp collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. Evidence for the decay Bc+→χc0(→K+K-)π+ is reported with a significance of 4.0 standard deviations, giving σ(Bc+)σ(B+)×B(Bc+→χc0π+)=(9.8-3.0+3.4(stat)±0.8(syst))×10-6. Here B denotes a branching fraction while σ(Bc+) and σ(B+) are the production cross sections for Bc+ and B+ mesons. An indication of bc weak annihilation is found for the region m(K-π+)

Abstract: Two-particle angular correlations are studied in proton-lead collisions at a nucleon–nucleon centre-of-mass energy of sNN=5 TeV, collected with the LHCb detector at the LHC. The analysis is based on data recorded in two beam configurations, in which either the direction of the proton or that of the lead ion is analysed. The correlations are measured in the laboratory system as a function of relative pseudorapidity, Δη, and relative azimuthal angle, Δϕ, for events in different classes of event activity and for different bins of particle transverse momentum. In high-activity events a long-range correlation on the near side, Δϕ≈0, is observed in the pseudorapidity range 2.0

Abstract: Using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1, collected by the LHCb experiment in pp collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, the effective lifetime in the Bs0→J/ψη decay mode, τeff, is measured to beτeff=1.479±0.034 (stat)±0.011 (syst) ps. Assuming CP conservation, τeff corresponds to the lifetime of the light Bs0 mass eigenstate. This is the first measurement of the effective lifetime in this decay mode.

Abstract: A measurement of the differential branching fraction of the decay B0 → K∗(892)0μ+μ− is presented together with a determination of the S-wave fraction of the K+π− system in the decay B0 → K+π−μ+μ−. The analysis is based on pp-collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1 collected with the LHCb experiment. The measurements are made in bins of the invariant mass squared of the dimuon system, q2. Precise theoretical predictions for the differential branching fraction of B0 → K∗(892)0μ+μ− decays are available for the q2 region 1.1 < q2< 6.0 GeV2/c4. In this q2 region, for the K+π− invariant mass range 796 < mKπ< 996 MeV/c2, the S-wave fraction of the K+π− system in B0 → K+π−μ+μ− decays is found to be FS=0.101±0.017(stat)±0.009(syst), and the differential branching fraction of B0 → K∗(892)0μ+μ− decays is determined to be dℬ/dq2=(0.392−0.019+0.020(stat)±0.010(syst)±0.027(norm))×10−7c4/GeV2. The differential branching fraction measurements presented are the most precise to date and are found to be in agreement with Standard Model predictions.

Abstract: Using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1, collected by the LHCb experiment in pp collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, the effective lifetime in the Bs0→J/ψη decay mode, τeff, is measured to beτeff=1.479±0.034 (stat)±0.011 (syst) ps. Assuming CP conservation, τeff corresponds to the lifetime of the light Bs0 mass eigenstate. This is the first measurement of the effective lifetime in this decay mode.

Abstract: The B_{s}^{0}π^{±} invariant mass distribution is investigated in order to search for possible exotic meson states. The analysis is based on a data sample recorded with the LHCb detector corresponding to 3 fb^{-1} of pp collision data at sqrt[s]=7 and 8 TeV. No significant excess is found, and upper limits are set on the production rate of the claimed X(5568) state within the LHCb acceptance. Upper limits are also set as a function of the mass and width of a possible exotic meson decaying to the B_{s}^{0}π^{±} final state. The same limits also apply to a possible exotic meson decaying through the chain B_{s}^{*0}π^{±}, B_{s}^{*0}→B_{s}^{0}γ where the photon is excluded from the reconstructed decays.

Abstract: A measurement of the cross-section for W → eν production in pp collisions is presented using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2 fb−1 collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of √s=8 TeV. The electrons are required to have more than 20 GeV of transverse momentum and to lie between 2.00 and 4.25 in pseudorapidity. The inclusive W production cross-sections, where the W decays to eν, are measured to be (Formula presented.) where the first uncertainties are statistical, the second are systematic, the third are due to the knowledge of the LHC beam energy and the fourth are due to the luminosity determination. Differential cross-sections as a function of the electron pseudorapidity are measured. The W+/W− cross-section ratio and production charge asymmetry are also reported. Results are compared with theoretical predictions at next-to-next-to-leading order in perturbative quantum chromodynamics. Finally, in a precise test of lepton universality, the ratio of W boson branching fractions is determined to be B(W → eν)=B(W → µν) = 1:020 ± 0:002 ± 0:019 where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.[Figure not available: see fulltext.]

Abstract: Measurements of CP observables in B±→DK± and B±→Dπ± decays are presented where the D meson is reconstructed in the final states K±π∓, π±K∓, K+K−, π+π−, K±π∓π+π−, π±K∓π+π− and π+π−π+π−. This analysis uses a sample of charged B mesons from pp collisions collected by the LHCb experiment in 2011 and 2012, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1. Various CP-violating effects are reported and together these measurements provide important input for the determination of the unitarity triangle angle γ. The analysis of the four-pion D decay mode is the first of its kind.
