Tecoma stans a woody shrubs belonging to the Bignoniaceae family and is commonly known as Pelli Kaner. The present paper shows various pharmacognostic standards such as taxonomy of leaf which shows leaf is found to be simple with the alternate arrangement, serrulate margin with obovate shape, obtuse apex and oblique, rounded base, pinnate venation. Secondly, microscopic characters are determined by cutting its leaf transverse section as well as powder microscopy, these studies provide various information about the arrangement of cell-like xylem, phloem, the upper and lower epidermis. Vein islet and vein termination number etc. Physical and chemical parameters such as total ash, acid insoluble ash, water-soluble ash, moisture content, water-soluble, and extractive value of leaf are calculated. Various chemical reagents are used to identify the chemical nature of leaf extract. Ethanolic extract of leaf is found to be active and 200 and 400 mg when in vivo evaluated for hepatoprotective activity. Ethanolic extract of the leaf also contains total phenolic content of 1.36 ± 0.02 mg/gm of dried extract equivalent to Gallic acid, the total flavonoids content of the extract was evaluated to be 4.41± 0.02 mg/gram and potential antioxidant activity which is comparable to the standards.

Looking at the rapidity the social media has gained ascendancy in the society, coupled with considerable shortage of addressing the health of the social media users, there is a pressing need for employing mechanized systems to help identify individuals at risk. In this study, we investigated potential of people's social media language in order to predict their vulnerability towards the future episode of mental distress. This work aims to (a) explore the most frequent affective expressions used by online users which reflect their mental health condition and (b) develop predictive models to detect users with risk of psychological distress. In this paper, dominant sentiment extraction techniques were employed to quantify the affective expressions and classify and predict the incident of psychological distress. We trained a set of seven supervised machine learning classifiers on logs crowd-sourced from 2500 Indian Social Networking Sites (SNS) users and validated with 3149 tweets collected from Indian Twitter. We test the model on these two different SNS datasets with different scales and ground truth labeling method and discuss the relationship between key factors and mental health. Performance of classifiers is evaluated at all classification thresholds; accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score. and experimental results show a better traction of accuracies ranging from ~ 82 to ~ 99% as compared to the models of relevant existing studies. Thus, this paper presents a mechanized decision support system to detect users' susceptibility towards mental distress and provides several evidences that it can be utilized as an efficient tool to preserve the psychological health of the social media users.

Based upon the pharmacokinetics of mifepristone, we postulated that repeating a dose after its half-life period may potentiate its abortifacient effect. We administered mifepristone (200 mg) on days one and two, and misoprostol on day three (200 or 400 μg, vaginally, six-hourly, upto three doses in 12 h) in 100 women (intervention group). We compared their outcome with that of another 100 women who received the one-dose mifepristone regimen (mifepristone on day one and misoprostol on day three) during the months immediately preceding the study period (historical controls). The mean age, parity and gestation (18 weeks) were similar in the two groups. On day three (before initiating misoprostol), cervix admitted one finger in significantly more women in the intervention group (36 versus 8% in historical controls; p = 0.001). All women aborted successfully in the two groups. The IAI of the intervention group was significantly shorter than the IAI of historical controls (10.45 vs 13.75 h; p = 0.013), and the misoprostol requirement was also significantly lower (mean 434 vs 500 μg among historical controls, p = 0.04). Second-trimester medical abortion using two sequential doses of mifepristone followed by misoprostol reduced the IAI and misoprostol requirement without adding any extra days to the existing regimen. Further randomized studies can assess if the ‘two-dose’ mifepristone regimen is more efficient than the ‘one-dose’ regimen.

Background: COVID-19 is a major public health emergency wreaking havoc on public health, happiness, and liberty of travel, as well as the worldwide economy. Scientists from all over the world are working to develop treatments and vaccines; the WHO has given emergency approval to eight vaccines from around the world. However, it is also seen that the efficiency of vaccines is not up to the mark in different age groups. COVID-19 symptoms come in many different shapes and sizes, so it’s important to learn about them as soon as possible so that medical attention and management can be easier. Method: The GitHub Data Repository-made COVID-19 patient data is available on the internet, which is used in this investigation. We have used the association rule mining method to look for common patterns in a targeted class or segment and then look at the symptoms based on them. Result: The result is that this study involves individuals with a median age of 52 years old. Few frequent symptoms like respiratory failure (1%), septic shock (1.4%), respiratory distress syndrome (1.8%), diarrhoea (1.8%), nausea (2%), sputum (3%), headache (5%), sore throat (8%), pneumonia (8%), weakness (7%), malaise/body pain (11%), cough (37%), fever (67%) and remaining diseases like myocardial infarction, cardiac failure, and renal illness (less than 1%) were present. If a patient had chronic disease, respiratory failure, and pneumonia, there was a higher risk of death; if a patient had a combination of chronic disease, respiratory failure, and pneumonia, respiratory failure in the age range of 45 to 84 years there was a higher risk of death. Patients having chronic conditions like pneumonia or renal disease symptoms that died as a result of the corona virus had more serious indication patterns than those without chronic diseases.

Objective In older adults with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), the overall outcome is still dismal and long-term data on survival are scarce, particularly outside of clinical trials. Here, we assess characteristics, prognostic factors and long-term survival in patients ≥60 years who were treated for AML at our center over the past 17 years. Methods 590 older adults with newly diagnosed AML were characterized according to Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) score, Charlson comorbidity index (CCI), European LeukemiaNet (ELN) risk, type of therapy, serum ferritin (SF) and further baseline characteristics. Survival analysis was performed accordingly. Results Median age was 68 years and most patients were in good general condition. Median follow-up was 55.8 months. Of all patients, 66% received intensive chemotherapy (IC) +/− allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). The remaining cohort received palliative chemotherapy (PC, 26%) or best supportive care only (BSC, 8%). Enrollment rate for interventional clinical trials was 26%. 5-year overall survival (OS) and relapse-free survival (RFS) were 18% (median 12.5 months) and 11,5% (median 10.0 months). Long-term survival was independently influenced by ECOG score, ELN risk group, baseline SF, previous myocardial infarction, and choice of therapy, but not consistently by age or CCI. Considering therapeutic subgroups, the contribution of particular parameters in predicting OS was most compelling in IC patients, but less consistent with PC or BSC. Conclusion Our results provide thorough insights into prognostication within therapeutic subgroups and emphasize the need for more detailed prognostic algorithms and routine geriatric assessment in the treatment of older adults with AML.

Background Condylar guidance can be determined using the clinical and radiographic methods. The present study was conducted to determine condylar guidance using the protrusive interocclusal wax method, panoramic radiographs, and lateral cephalogram. Aims The aim of the study was to compare the correlation between sagittal condylar guidance with protrusive interocclusal method, panoramic radiographs, and lateral cephalogram. Materials and methods The present study was conducted on 82 dentulous subjects (males 41, females 41). In all subjects, interocclusal registration values and condylar guidance values were measured using panoramic radiographs and lateral cephalograms. Results The mean ± SD protrusive interocclusal registration value on the left side was 34.01 ± 1.2 mm and 34.08 ± 1.4 mm on the right side. The panoramic radiographs showed 35.12 ± 1.6 mm on the left side and 35.16 ± 1.7 mm on the right side. The mean ± SD protrusive interocclusal registration values on the left side was 34.01 ± 1.2 mm on the left side and 34.08 ± 1.4 mm on the right side. Lateral cephalogram showed 34.35 ± 1.3 mm on the left side and 34.67 ± 1.6 mm on the right side. Along with it, other methods such as panoramic radiographs and lateral cephalogram may also be used for recording condylar guidance. Clinical significance Lateral cephalogram and panoramic radiographs may be reliable in determining condylar guidance, which can be used in orthodontic treatment planning.

The circular economy (CE) paradigm fosters to rethink and redesign the manufacturing process, usage and disposal pattern of products and services in an economy. In the past few years, CE has gained tremendous momentum in terms of research and implementation. Apart from the widening horizon of CE across the globe, numerous practitioners, policy-makers and academicians have explored the scope to incorporate various sectors of industries and businesses within the CE model. Evidently, a primary mechanism or system is required to facilitate the transition to CE. With an aim to understand this mechanism, the article analyzes, through a systematic literature review, the implementation of circular practices across the European Union (EU) member states based on a framework of circular strategies, nutrient cycles, ReSOLVE framework and circular business models. Further, the implementation of CE action plan proposed in 2015 for the EU region, has facilitated circular practices in numerous industries, owing to government policies and regulations. Additionally, it has helped in building the required infrastructure, while providing a technological push for augmenting sustainable growth in the region. Based on the analysis, it is inferred that recycling has been the most widely used circular strategy for looping back materials into the system. Waste management, electrical and electronic equipment industries and construction industries are a pioneer in CE implementation. Also, macro level initiatives by governments and/or regional administrative bodies predominate CE's implementation in the EU. A further transition to CE can be facilitated by government policies, infrastructure and technological availability, awareness, stakeholder collaboration and supply-chain integration.

Local climate in an area is significantly affected by the extent of urbanization. The microclimatic parameters such as wind speed (W), relative humidity (RH) and temperature (T) are affected due to modifications in natural surfaces and land use. With increasing interest in urban microclimate research, factors such as energy conversation, environmental sustainability, and urban design with thermal comfort are researched extensively. The current study attempts to model T, W and RH in an urban landscape of Nagpur City by solving the microclimate governing equations using python and ArcGIS. Purpose: Stabilization of the transcription factor NRF2 through genomic alterations in KEAP1 and NFE2L2 occurs in a quarter of patients with lung adenocarcinoma and a third of patients with lung squamous cell carcinoma. In lung adenocarcinoma, KEAP1 loss often co-occurs with STK11 loss and KRAS-activating alterations. Despite its prevalence, the impact of NRF2 activation on tumor progression and patient outcomes is not fully defined. Experimental Design: We model NRF2 activation, STK11 loss, and KRAS activation in vivo using novel genetically engineered mouse models. Furthermore, we derive a NRF2 activation signature from human non–small cell lung tumors that we use to dissect how these genomic events impact outcomes and immune contexture of participants in the OAK and IMpower131 immunotherapy trials. Results: Our in vivo data reveal roles for NRF2 activation in (i) promoting rapid-onset, multifocal intrabronchiolar carcinomas, leading to lethal pulmonary dysfunction, and (ii) decreasing elevated redox stress in KRAS-mutant, STK11-null tumors. In patients with nonsquamous tumors, the NRF2 signature is negatively prognostic independently of STK11 loss. Patients with lung squamous cell carcinoma with low NRF2 signature survive longer when receiving anti–PD-L1 treatment. Conclusions: Our in vivo modeling establishes NRF2 activation as a critical oncogenic driver, cooperating with STK11 loss and KRAS activation to promote aggressive lung adenocarcinoma. In patients, oncogenic events alter the tumor immune contexture, possibly having an impact on treatment responses. Importantly, patients with NRF2-activated nonsquamous or squamous tumors have poor prognosis and show limited response to anti–PD-L1 treatment.

A series of triazole-based compounds was synthesized using a click chemistry approach and evaluated for the inhibition of α-synuclein (α-syn) fibrillogenesis and its disaggregation. Compounds Tr3, Tr7, Tr12, Tr15, and Tr16 exhibited good effect in inhibiting α-syn fibrillogenesis confirmed by Thioflavin-T assay and fluorescence microscopy and α-syn disaggregation confirmed by fluorescence microscopy. Molecular docking was used to understand the plausible mechanism of the test compounds for inhibiting the α-syn fibrillogenesis and to verify the in vitro results. Compounds Tr3, Tr7, Tr12, Tr15 and Tr16 showed good binding interactions with the essential amino acid residues of α-syn. The compounds which were found to be good inhibitors or disaggregators had no toxic effects on the SH-SY5Y cell line. These compounds have the potential to be developed as therapeutic interventions against synucleinopathies including Parkinson's disease and Lewy body dementia.

Acebutolol hydrochloride (AH), a beta blocker is generally used in the cure of cardiovascular disorders. We have examined the interaction between AH and human serum albumin (HSA) employing UV–vis, fluorescence quenching, circular dichroism (CD), isothermal titration calorimetry and molecular docking methods. Tryptophan fluorescence intensity of HSA was strongly quenched by AH and the binding constants (Kb) were determined by fluorescence quenching indicating high affinity of AH for HSA. The negative ΔG° value for binding indicated that HSA-AH interaction was a spontaneous process. Existence of hydrophobic interactions, and hydrogen bonds were indicated from the calorimetric analysis, thus facilitating the binding of AH with HSA. Secondary structure changes were confirmed from far-UV CD studies. Further, molecular docking studies revealed AH binds with HSA, in the binding site located in Sudlow Site I of subdomain IIA of HSA. This work provides a useful experimental strategy for investigating the interactions of beta blocker AH with HSA, thus helping the activity and drug binding mechanism.

Delirious mania has been described as a state of acute excitement, fluctuating sensorium, affective and catatonic symptoms. Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) despite being an effective treatment modality in such cases, has been under-utilised during pregnancy, mainly due to safety concerns. Here, we report the effectiveness of ECT in acute management of delirious mania in a 24 weeks pregnant woman who also tested COVID-19 positive during hospitalisation. Patient presented with three weeks history of acute manic excitement with period of altered sensorium and catatonic symptoms with no response to trials of two antipsychotic agents. After organic causes ruled out, patient was planned for ECT while ongoing antipsychotic was continued. After the first ECT session, patient tested positive for COVID-19, though asymptomatic and had to be shifted to COVID-19 isolation facility. Complete resolution of psychiatric symptoms occurred after fifth ECT. All five ECT sessions, including those in COVID-19 isolation facility were carried out under supervision of a multidisciplinary team. None of the ECT sessions had any major adverse event. Symptom remission sustained even following ECT discontinuation. No neonatal or maternal adverse effects observed after an uneventful delivery at 35 weeks. Both mother and child continued to maintain well in follow-up period of one year on oral olanzapine. In this unusual concurrent presentation of mania, delirium and catatonic symptoms during second trimester pregnancy, we highlighted the effectiveness and safety of ECT as a viable treatment modality. Additionally, management challenges posed by patient testing COVID-19 positive and then, administering ECT in COVID-19 isolation facility using personal protective equipment by multidisciplinary team has been highlighted.

Background: Kids and teenagers are more prone to oral diseases. Poor oral health has a significant impact on oral well-being–associated quality of life. Thus, we performed an investigation to examine the outcome of oral health status on the quality of life of children and adolescents in Indian population, by using the Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14). Materials and Methods: A total of 100 children, ranging between 1 and 19 years of age who attended Indian hospitals from November 2016 to October 2019, were included in the study. The DMFT Index (Decayed, Missing, and Filled Teeth) and OHIP-14 were used as data collection tools. Association of the total OHIP-14 score and seven subscales associated with it was evaluated using Spearman’s correlations. Results: The results showed statistically noteworthy association between the toothbrushing regularity, number of dental appointments, history of oral trauma, smoking, and subdomains of OHIP-14 (P < 0.05) Conclusion: Dental and oral health of an individual has a great impact on their quality of life.

Environmental factors like ionizing radiation induced generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) cause macromolecular damage under physiological conditions. Proteins are the potential targets of ROS induced oxidative damage because of their abundance and their critical functions in the biological systems. The present study investigates the protective potential of ethyl pyruvate (EP) against ionizing radiation induced oxidative damage of bovine serum albumin (BSA) using spectroscopic, biochemical and SDS-PAGE techniques. Spectroscopic data shows that EP prevents the build up of protein damage markers like bityrosine formation and oxidation of tryptophan. Protein melting studies shows that the melting temperature (Tm) of the irradiated protein does not change significantly in the presence of EP. Biochemical assays indicate that ionizing radiation causes the generation of carbonyls and malondialdehyde and the loss of thiol content in proteins that is prevented by EP. The SDS-PAGE profile of gamma irradiated BSA shows the radioprotective effect of EP. These results indicate the radiation induced oxidative and molecular changes in the protein and that the EP protected the BSA from these modifications. Therefore, these results imply that EP has a good antiradical property and hence it can be proposed as a good radioprotective agent.

The paper investigates the potential of circular economy of authorized e-waste collectors, dismantlers, and recyclers of Maharashtra. The study determines the drivers and barriers associated with e-waste collection in the region. Furthermore, it explores the handling techniques including dismantling, recycling, and scrap disposal. This is done through a case study of a recycling company based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. A questionnaire-based survey is used to study e-waste processing units. The qualitative analysis of the questionnaire shows that lack of awareness of environmental impact is the greatest constraint in the collection of e-waste and data security is the most crucial driver for enhancing the collection of e-waste. The case study reveals that the quantity and type of e-waste are more important than the distance between the processing unit and the collection point. It discloses that the primary factor for building trust between e-waste collectors and waste holders is data security.

Background: Pits and Fissures are recognized as being highly susceptible to caries. Pit and fissure sealants are one of the best methods of preventing caries as it occludes the fissures and pits from the accumulation of plaque and cariogenic microflora. There are different methods of cleaning and preparing occlusal pits and fissures for preventing caries which helps in alleviating oral health status of paediatric population. Aim: The aim of the present study was to evaluate and compare the microleakage of pit and fissure sealants after using five different preparation techniques, namely: A) Conventional technique using pumice prophylaxis, B) enameloplasty with round carbide bur, C) enameloplasty with fissurotomy bur, D) air polisher, and E) air abrasion. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted on 50 caries-free premolars extracted for orthodontic purpose. These teeth were randomly assigned to five groups, 10 teeth in each for receiving fissure sealant after different surface preparation; thermocycling and sectioning of samples were performed and microleakage was assessed under a stereomicroscope after methylene blue dye immersion. Results: The results of air abrasion groups were significantly superior with “0” microleakage when compared to all other groups followed by round bur, fissurotomy bur, air polisher and pumice prophylaxis. Conclusion: To improve the marginal adaptation of the sealants, minimally invasive methods are the most favoured methods of occlusal preparation. This study promises to show positive results for fissure sealants which are likely to play an important role in caries prevention and techniques that are intended to protect caries susceptible surfaces.

As the assessment of the economic, environmental, institutional, and social sustainability of wastewater treatment systems may have several conceivable goals and intended recipients, there are numerous different approaches. This paper surveys certain aspects of sustainability assessment that may be of interest to the planners of wastewater treatment systems. Here, the key criteria assess the system’s costs and financing, including its affordability for the users, the environmental impact, the benefits for health and hygiene, the cultural acceptance of the system and its recycled products, the technical functioning, and the administrative, political, and legal framework for its construction and operation. A multi-criteria approach may then be used to analyze possible trade-offs and identify the most suitable system for a certain location.

Vildagliptin (VDG)is a frontier drug for diabetes mellitus. It is prescribed both in the monotherapy as well as in an amalgamation with other antidiabetic drugs. Drug-serum protein binding is an essential parameter which influences ADME properties of the drug. In current study, binding of VDG with serum protein (bovine serum albumin: BSA) was investigated using multi-spectroscopic techniques. A computational approach was also employed to identify the binding affinity of VDG with BSA at both Sudlow I and II sites. An enzyme activity assay specific for esterase was also investigated to know the post-binding consequences of VDG with BSA. Fluorescence spectra of BSA samples treated with VDG shows static quenching with binding parameters for VDG-BSA complex show single class of equivalent binding stoichiometry(n = 1.331) and binding constant 1.1 x 104M−1 at 298.15 K. The binding constant indicates important role of non-polar interactions in the binding process. Fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) analysis of VDG absorption spectra and emission spectrum of BSA confirmed no significant resonance in energy transfer. Synchronous fluorescence of BSA after binding with VDG show maximum changes in emission intensity at tryptophan (Trp) residues. Post binding with VDG, BSA conformation changes as suggested by circular dichorism (CD) spectra of BSA and this lead to enhanced protein stability as indicated by a thermal melting curve of BSA. Biohythane, the blending of biohydrogen—biomethane with hydrogen concentration ranging in between 10% and 30% (v/v). It can be generated via utilizing various organic substrates through two-stage sequential anaerobic stages, that is, the dark fermentation step followed by the anaerobic digestion step, for biohydrogen and biomethane production, respectively, for viable biohythane production from waste organics. In comparison to the conventional biogas, biohythane is advantageous owing to its eco-benign, greater bio-energy recovery, and smaller fermentation duration. However, the conversion of organic waste to biohythane is presently at the bench scale and requires the bioprocess study and further scaling up to industrial level are obligatory. Besides, this chapter brought for forefronting the biochemical reactions, thermodynamics involved, production process, various organic waste feedstocks, two-stage sequential anaerobic stages, of biohythane production. Finally, the energy aspects techno-economic, current challenges and future perspectives for further scaling up of the process have been discussed.
