Finansal teknoloji şirketleri, her ne kadar geleneksel bankalar gibi finansal hizmetler alanında faaliyet gösteriyor olsa da oyunun kurallarını ciddi bir biçimde değiştirmektedir. Bu şirketler mevcut finansal hizmetleri, sundukları ürünlerle daha ilgili çekici hale getirmeyi başardılar. Kişisel finansal hizmetler sunarak sektörün sınırlarını genişlettiler. Bu hizmetler büyük bir titizlikle tasarlanmakta olup geleneksel bankaların ürünlerinden daha teknolojik ve ucuz olmakla birlikte kullanıcı dostu ve müşterilerin değişen ihtiyaçlarını karşılama özellikleriyle öne çıkmaktadır. Değişen oyun alanı geleneksel bankaların üzerinde yıkıcı etkiye neden olmaktadır. Dolayısıyla, ilgili tez bankacılığın geleceğini anlama ve sektörün yeni oyuncuları olan finansal teknoloji şirketleri karşısında geleneksel bankalara stratejik yaklaşım sunmayı hedeflemektedir. Son yıllarda finansal teknolojiler üzerine yapılan çalışmaların sayısı gün geçtikçe artmaktadır. Bunlardan bazıları genel finansal teknoloji kavramını ve bu şirketlerin sektöre yönelik gerçekleşen ve olası etkilerini incelemektedir. İlgili tez bu konuları kapsamakla birlikte, diğer çalışmalardan farklı olarak, değişen koşullarda geleneksel bankacılık sisteminin geleceğine ışık tutma amacıyla mevcut durumu stratejik açıdan ele almaktadır. İlgili tezin amacı finansal hizmetler sektöründeki gelişmeler konusunda farkındalık yaratmanın yanında bu gelişmelerin geleneksel bankacılık sistemine yönelik çıktılarını belirlemektir. FinTech start-ups operate in the financial industry nevertheless they are transforming the rules of the game. These companies turned financial services into something more challenging and engaging than the regular lending or payment services. They expanded the industry to offer something new: personalized financial services. These meticulously designed, technological, more affordable than traditional banks, user-friendly, satisfying the customers' needs, and more. These changes have disruptive impacts on traditional banks. Therefore, this thesis aims to assume the future of banking and to generate a strategic approach for the traditional banking system against FinTech start-ups. In recent years, numbers of studies about FinTech are in growing trend day by day. Some of them are relevant to explaining the theory of FinTech and its expanding impact area. This thesis will cover these matters. But, differently, this thesis is also embracing the strategic approaches to the traditional banks against FinTech start-ups. The purpose of this study is not only developing an awareness of new advancements in the financial services but also determining the outputs of these advancements for the traditional banking system conspicuously. 63

Purpose: The miniaturized percutaneous nephrolithotomy (mPNL) can be performed by using a very wide range of different access sheaths (14-22 Fr).It has been well known that tract size is one of the main parameters affecting the complication rates in PNL. We aimed to compare 21 Fr with 16.5 Fr mPNL tract sizes in adult patients. Material and methods: From May 2013 to April 2018, 604 patients with kidney stone underwent mPNL in our department. The study was designed as retrospective and match-pair analysis was the preferred method for the formation of groups. The 21 Fr mPNL cases were matched with 16.5 Fr mPNL cases at a 1:1 ratio, according to the patients' age, gender, body mass index, American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) score, stone characteristics (stone size, opacity and localization) and hydronephrosis. Patients with solitary kidney, renal anomalies, musculoskeletal abnormalities, and pediatric patients (< 18 years old) were excluded from the study. Both groups (21 Fr and 16.5 Fr) were compared in terms of demographics, stone characteristics, operative data and post-operative outcomes. Results: A total of 260 patients were included in the study (130; 21 Fr mPNL group and 130; 16.5 Fr mPNL group). The operation time was significantly shorter in 21 Fr group (21 Fr; 85.2±37.5, 16.5 Fr; 101.7±37.7 minutes, p: 0.001). Complete stone clearance rates were 76.9% and 62.3% in 21 Fr and 16.5 Fr mPNL, respectively (p: 0.01). There was no significant difference between the groups in terms of overall operative and post-operative complications. However, in subgroups analysis, post-operative fever was higher in 16,5 Fr mPNL (4 patients in 16.5 Fr, no patients in 21 Fr group, p: 0.044); steinstrasse, renal colic and post-operative JJ stent requirement rates were higher in 21 Fr mPNL procedure (p: 0.018, p: 0.031 and p: 0.046, respectively). The hospitalization time was significantly higher in 21 Fr (p: 0.01). Conclusions: Although 21 Fr mPNL procedure has advantages such as better success rates and shorter operation time, some post-operative complications (steinstrasse, renal colic, post-operative JJ stent requirement) are against of 21 Fr mPNL when compared with 16.5 Fr mPNL procedure. Further randomized prospective studies with larger patient volume are needed to confirm these results.

TheEastern Pontide Metallogenic Belt located to the northeast of Turkey hostsimportant massive sulfide mineralizations. In this study, ore mineralogy of theMurgul and Lahanos copper deposits located to the eastern and western ends of theregion is comperatively investigated. The new findings supports the arguments suggestingboth deposits are products of seafloor hydrothermal activity that occurredbetween two different volcanic episodes of the Upper Cretaceous arc volcanismin the region. Murgul deposit highly represents the disseminated and stockworkfeeder channels of such systems, whilst the Lahanos deposit highly representsthe seafloor sulfide mounds characterized by paragenesis with recurrences. Itis thought that the further study of the timing of the main mineralizationsand/or post-mineralization rejuvenation processes via direct radiometric datingof the ore and ore mineral chemistry may help filling the missing parts of theregional metallogenic puzzle., Türkiye’nin kuzeydoğusunda yeralan Doğu Pontid Metalojenik Kuşağı, önemli volkanojenik masif sülfitcevherleşmelerini barındırmaktadır. Otel kavramının tarihi gelişimi incelenerek insan hayatına etkileri incelenmiştir. Otellerin ilk ortaya çıktığı dönemlerde sadece belli amaçlarda kullanıldığı görülmektedir. Daha sonra gelişen ve bir çok amaç için kullanılan Oteller oda sistemine geçilmiştir. Modernleşme süreciyle birlikte değişen ve gelişen Otellerin mimari planlamaları da gelişim göstermiştir. İstanbul kent Otellerinin ilk gelişimi Pera Palace Oteli en güzel örneklerdendir. Modernleşme süreciyle birlikte Otellerin hem dış mimari cephe planları hem de iç mimari tasarım anlamında değişim göstermiştir. Modernleşme süreciyle birlikte insanların Otellerde kalma amaçları artık sadece iş ve ticaret için tek değildi. It is seen that the hotels were only used for certain purposes in the periods when they first appeared. Changing life conditions positively affected the development of the hotels. With the modernization process, both the exterior architectural plans of the hotels and the interior design have changed. With the modernization process, people's purpose in staying in Hotels was no longer the only one for business and trade. In order to keep up with the developing Europe and entertain the tourists, the design of the hotels has been radically changed and modern hotels have started to emerge. In the 21st century, the hotels stand out with their modern architectural lines. Bu tezde, mıknatısla kolaylıkla ayrılıp tekrar tekrar kullanılabilecek, zor reaksiyon şartlarında bile kararlı, verimli ve seçici manyetik nano-ligand-Ru(II) kompleks katalizörlerin elde edilmesi amaçlandı. Fe3O4@SiO2(CH2)3N(CH2PPh2)2 ve Fe3O4@SiO2(CH2)3NHArN(CH2PPh2)2 tipi ligantlar daha önceki yayınımızda kullandığımız metot ile sentezlenmiştir. Bu ligantların Ru(II) ve Ni(II) kompleksleri yeni olarar sentezlenmiş ve SEM, EDX, TEM, FT-IR, TGA ve Elemental Analiz gibi teknikler ile karakterize edilmiştir.Sorbitol, glikozun hidrojenasyonu veya transfer hidrojenasyonu ile elde edilebilen bir şeker alkolüdür. Dünya genelinde, D-glikozun katalitik hidrojenasyonu ile ortalama yılda 700.000 ton civarında üretilmektedir. Birçok unlu mamüllerde, şekerleme ve sakız ürünlerinde kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada elde edilen Ru(II) ve Ni(II) komplekslerinin katalitik özellikleri; D-glikozdan transfer hidrojenasyon reaksiyonu ile D-Sorbitolelde edilmesinde incelendi. Özellikle Ru(II) komplekslerinin % 97 nin üzerinde dönüşüm ve % 90 ın üzerinde seçicilikile çok etkili katalizörler olduğu belirlenmiştir. In this thesis, it was aimedto synthesis of the nano-ligand-Ru(II) complex catalysts which are easily separable as magnetically and repeatedly usable, selective and stable even under severe reaction conditions. Fe3O4@SiO2(CH2)3N(CH2PPh2)2 ve Fe3O4@SiO2(CH2)3NHArN(CH2PPh2)2 type lignads were synthesized according to the our previous published method. The novel Ru(II) and Ni(II) complexes of these ligands were synthesized and charecterized with SEM, EDX, TEM, FT-IR, TGA and elemental analysis techniques.D-sorbitol a natural carbonydrate alchol can be synthesized from D-glucose with the catalytic transfer hydrogenation reaction. D-sorbitol is produced about 700.000 tons in the World. It is used in many products such as baked and confectionery and chewing gums. In this study, the catalytic properties of the obtained Ru(II) and Ni(II) complexes were investigated in the catalytic transfer hydrogenation of D-glucose to D-sorbitol reaction. Especially, it was found that Ru(II) complexes were very active catalysts with over 97 % converisons and over 90 % selectivities. 83

Bu tez XVIII. yüzyıl Osmanlı tarihinin önemli simalarından, iki padişaha toplamda üç defa sadrazamlık yapmış Hekimoğlu Ali Paşa'nın siyasî kariyerine, çevresine ve kurduğu paşa kapısına odaklanan bir tarihsel biyografi çalışmasıdır. Devlet, toplum, siyaset ve iktisat ve kültürün şekillendirici unsuru haline gelen, geniş kapı sahibi, bürokratik ve askerî kurumların içinden çıkıp bağımsız olarak kariyerini oluşturmuş, geniş maddi kaynaklara sahip, XVIII. yüzyıla has sadrazamların kapsamlı biyografilerinin yazılması bu yüzyılın Osmanlı tarihinin çerçevesini çizmek için gereklidir. Bu temelde, Hekimoğlu Ali Paşa'nın hayat hikayesiyle, onun toplumsal rolü, saray, bürokrasi, ulema ve askerîye ile olan ilişkisi ve uyguladığı siyasetler konu edilmiş, devrin bu önde gelen simasının gözünden birçok tarihsel mesele teşrih edilmiştir. Aynı zamanda kaynakların mahiyeti itibarıyla erişilmesi güç olan, Paşa'nın şahsiyetine dair bilgi ve çıkarımlar da çalışma boyunca sunulmuştur. Muteber bir aile kökenine sahip olmanın bu yüzyılda siyasî başarı için önemli olduğu vurgulanmış, bu bağlamda Ali Paşa'nın babası, Hekimbaşı Nuh Efendi'nin sıra dışı kariyeri, kimliği ve oğullarına bıraktığı itibar serveti konu edilmiştir. Ali Paşa'nın sadaret, seraskerlik ve valilik dönemlerinde idarî, siyasî ve askerî tasarrufları, muarız ve rakipleri ile mücadelesi, bir kere kaybettiği sadaret mührünü iki kere daha geri alabilmesi, adem-i merkeziyetçiliğin öne çıktığı bir dönemde, merkeziyetçi bir idare tavrını tatbik edebilmesi bu biyografik anlatının ana hatlarını teşkil eder. This thesis is a historical biography that focuses on the political career, environment and the household of Hekimoglu Ali Pasha, one of the important figures of the Ottoman eighteenth century history who served as grand vizier for two sultans three times in total. Writing comprehensive biographies of grand viziers of the eighteenth century Ottoman Empire is a necessity to draw a historical framework of the century, as some of these viziers are primary elements in shaping the state, society, politics, economy and culture; and although they have emerged from bureaucratic and military institutions their careers were formed independent from these institutions. On this basis, Hekimoglu Ali Pasha's life story, his social role, his relationship with the palace, bureaucracy, the ulama and the military, and his policies were discussed and also many historical issues were examined through the eyes of this prominent figure of the period. At the same time, information and inferences about the personality of Pasha, which are difficult to obtain due to the nature of the sources are presented throughout the study. It was emphasized that having an esteemed family origin is important for political success in this century, and in this context, the father of Ali Pasha, chief physician of the court Nuh Efendi, his extraordinary career, identity and the legacy he left to his sons were studied. This seventy-year life, which started as a silahşor in the Enderun, presents valuable data about the Anatolian geography in the context of the nomad census; the politics of the empire and the course of the wars in the Eastern front in the context of the Iranian Wars, 1722-1746. The essentials of this biographic narrative are the Ali Pasha's administrative, political and military actions during the times of his grand viziership, governorships and supreme military commanderships; his struggles with opponents, his ability to take back twice the seal of grand viziership and his ability to apply a centralized administrative attitude in a period when decentralization came to the fore. The actions of Pasha, both during his grand vizierate periods and especially during the governorships of Bosnia, Egypt and Trabzon, had a widespread impact throughout the eighteenth century. Known with epithets such as Şeyhülvüzerâ and Nizamülmülk in his lifetime Ali Pasha had a remarkable wealth to support his political power and a wide cultural environment which had expanded through his personal involvement and thus he should be regarded as one of the most important personalities to understand and make sense of the Ottoman eighteenth century. The biography of Ali Pasha is a historical description of the age of powerful pashas who shaped the Ottoman politics. 821

Amaç: Simülasyon eğitimi, simülasyon teknolojisinin animasyonlar, mankenler ve eğitim materyalleri eşliğinde, öğrencilere pratik yaptırarak, becerilerini artırmaya yönelik yapılan çalışmalar bütünüdür.Kardiyopulmoner resüsitasyon (KPR) kardiyak arrest geçiren hastalara uygulanan temel ve ileri yaşamsal destekler bütünüdür.Bu çalışmada, KPR eğitimi ve acil tıp stajı almamış 6. sınıf tıp fakültesi öğrencilerine, mankenler eşliğinde KPR simülasyon eğitimi verip, eğitim öncesi ve eğitim sonrası çoktan seçmeli test uygulamak suretiyle simülasyon eğitiminin etkinliğini değerlendirmeyi amaçladık. Gereçler ve Yöntem: Çalışma bir yıl boyunca devam etti ve her çalışmagrubuna on kişilik Acil Tıp stajı alan altıncı sınıf tıp öğrencisi alındı. Çalışmadapretest posttest modeli kullanıldı. Çalışmamız simülasyon merkezinde yapıldı veöğrencilere simülasyon mankenleri eşliğinde KPR eğitimi verildi. Eğitimden önceöğrencilere 10 soruluk pretest; eğitimden 2 ay sonra ise öğrencilere postest uyguladıkve sonuçları değerlendirdik. Soruların iç tutarlılığı Cochrane-Q analizi iledeğerlendirildi. Diğer tüm analizler inceleme sonrası karşılaştırılacak şekildeplanlanmıştır. Tüm analizler Med-Calc versiyon 14.5 ile yapıldı.Bulgular: Çalışmaya dahil edilme kriterlerini karşılayan toplam 119 öğrenci çalışmaya dahil edildi. Çalışmaya alınan öğrencilerin 59'u (% 49.6) erkek, 60'ı (%50.4) ise kadındı.Öğrencilerin; Temel kardiyak yaşam desteği (TKYD) ve ileri kardiyak yaşam desteği (IKYD) sorularının tamamını içeren 10 soruluk pretestte puan ortalaması 100 puan (IKA-interkuartil aralık) üzerinden 70 (80,100), postestte ise puan ortalaması 90 (80,100) olarak tespit edildi (p

In this study, mainly silicate and some sulfide micro-inclusions hosted in magnesiochromites of chromitites from Orhaneli Ophiolite Complex and Harmancik Peridotites in northwestern Turkey are studied. Existence of randomly distributed anhedral (globular), selectively oriented lamellar/needle-shaped silicate micro-inclusions and several other cubic/octahedral inclusions hosted in magnesiochromites are noted along with Ir-group platinum-group element (IPGE) bearing phases and base metal sulfides (BMS). The microscopic observations, Raman, electron dispersive and wavelength dispersive spectrometry data have shown that the randomly distributed anhedral (globular) silicate inclusions mainly consist of forsterite and diopside. Selectively oriented lamellar/needle-shaped silicate micro-inclusions are determined as diopsides. Some of the cubic/octahedral inclusions are identified as (cubic) Mg-silicates, while some other inclusions are identified as euhedral to subhedral clinopyroxene and Na-K-Ca and Mg bearing silicates. An important amount of the studied cubic/octa-hedral inclusions are identified as negative crystals of cubic/octahedral form (some in form of trigonal or macle crystals). The oriented lamellae/needles of diopside are found both in the Orhaneli and Harmancik chromitites. Cubic/octahedral Mg-silicates and negative crystals are only detected in a multi-textured chromitite sample (with dunitic-orbicular, semi-massive and massive textures), which lacks the oriented diopside lamellae/needles. Although no other ultra-high-pressure (ITHP) phases are found, the existence of oriented diopside lamellae/needles in the Orhaneli and Harmancik chromitites are interpreted as the first in-situ evidence of ITHP conditions and possibly their deep mantle recycling history. It may be speculated that the occurrence of micro-lamellae/needles of diopside in the Orhaneli chromitites within the cumulate dunites result from entrapment of recycled relics of ITHP chromitites within the upwelling primordial melts that replenished the evolved magmas ponding in the MTZ. A step-by-step textural interpretation of the multi-textured Harmancik chromitite sample also suggested at least two stages of chromite formation, the former represented with the tightly packed nodular chromite nuclei within the dunitic orhicules, and the latter with surrounding semi-massive to massive (tightly packed) chromitites. The former stage can clearly he traced to be finally incorporated within the latter. The cubic/octahedral Mg-silicates and negative crystals are both seen within the first stage chromitite nuclei of the dunitic orhicules and the second stage surrounding chromitite. Occurrences of these inclusions are also questioned for a possible link between the textural evolution of chromitite and the UHP processes, and possibilities for finding a field (macroscopic) evidence for discriminating-UHP chromitites. Due to some conflicting findings, it is concluded that more data are needed for reaching a final decision.

Mühendislik yapılarında güvenli ve ekonomik tasarımlar yapmak büyük bir önem teşkil etmektedir. Zemin mekaniği ve geoteknik mühendisliğinde de özellikle taşıma gücü yetersiz ve oturma potansiyeli bulunan zeminlerde temel sisteminin seçimi hem güvenlik hem de ekonomi bakımından önemli bir rol oynamaktadır. Temellerin boyutlandırılmasında; zeminde toptan göçmeye karşı yeterli bir güvenlik ile taşıma gücüne sahip olması ve yük nedeniyle zeminde meydana gelecek oturmaların yapının hasar görmesine yol açmayacak sınırlar içinde kalması, şartları birlikte sağlanmalıdır. Yapı zemin etkileşimi incelendiğinde kabuk temeller düz temellere göre taşıma gücü ve oturmalar açısından daha iyi davranış göstermektedir. Betonarme kabuklar, diğer boyutları ile mukayese edildiklerinde çok küçük kalınlığa sahip olan, üç boyutlu eğrisel veya katlanmış plaklardan oluşan yapı elemanlarıdır. 1950'li yıllardan sonra kullanılmaya başlanan betonarme kabuk temeller, özellikle ağır üstyapı yüklerinin taşıma gücü yetersiz zeminlere aktarılmasında daha iyi performans gösterdiğinden birçok araştırmacı tarafından araştırma konusu olmuştur. Sayısal ve deneysel olarak gerçekleştirilen çalışmalar doğrultusunda kabuk temellerin geoteknik açıdan avantajları gösterilmiştir. Yapılan uygulamalar, yumuşak zemin üzerine oturan kabuk temellerin düz temellere göre daha ekonomik olduğunu da göstermiştir. Temellerde yaygın olarak kemerli, dairesel, üçgen şeklinde, konik, hiperbolik paraboloit, silindirik, küresel kubbe, piramit şeklinde, kare ve şerit tipinde kabuklar kullanılmaktadır. Günümüzde başta Meksika ve Hindistan olmak üzere, Rusya, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri, Fransa ve Kenya'da yapılarda betonarme kabuk temel sistemleri uygulanmıştır. Bilhassa yumuşak gevşek derin alüvyon zeminlere sahip Meksika şehrinde ve Ganj nehri deltasında yer alan Kalküta şehri ve civarında çok sayıda başarılı uygulamalar mevcuttur. Kabuk temel sistemleri yumuşak zeminlerde diğer alternatiflere göre (radye, kazıklı sistem, zemin iyileştirmesi vb.) önemli ekonomik kazançlar sağlamakta ve ilerde uygulamaların diğer ülkelerde de yaygınlaşması beklenmektedir. Hindistan'da konik ve hiperbolik paraboloit tip kabuk temellerin dizaynı ve inşaatı için standart 1980 yılında yayınlanmıştır. Kabuk temellerin taşıma gücü ve oturmalar açısından değerlendirilmesi genellikle düz temeller ile karşılaştırılarak yapılmaktadır. Kabuk temellerin altında taban basıncı dağılımı, zemin içerisinde gerilme yayılışı ve taşıma gücüne esas kırılma mekanizmaları düz temellere göre farklıdır. Kabuk temellerin taşıma gücü düz temele göre daha büyüktür. Aynı şiddetteki yük altında kabuk temelin oturma miktarı geleneksel temele nazaran daha az olacaktır. Önemli farklılıkların nedeni ise temelin geometrisi ve rijitliği ile açılanabilir. Ayrıca kabuk temeller yatay yüklere karşı düz temellere göre daha yüksek bir direnç gösterirler ve böylece kabuk temellerin deprem bölgelerinde daha iyi bir performans göstereceği söylenebilir. Düz temel sistemlerinde sadece eğilme momenti ile yük aktarılırken, kabuk temellerde eğilmeye ek olarak ortalama yüzeyleri içinde oluşan eksenel normal kuvvetler ve kayma kuvvetleri ile de yük aktarılmaktadır. Bu şekilde çok daha büyük açıklıkların güvenle geçilmesi mümkün olmaktadır. Kabuk temel kullanılarak sadece dayanım açısından değil, aynı zamanda rijitlik açısından da daha uygun davranış gösteren temel sistemleri oluşturulabilmektedir. Bu tez çalışmasında genel olarak düz temellere alternatif olmak üzere farklı tipteki kabuk temeller ele alınmıştır. Temellerde kullanılabilecek farklı kabuk türleri sınıflandırılmış ve başarılı uygulamalara örnekler verilmiştir. Geoteknik ve yapısal açıdan kabuk temeller incelenmiş, bununla birlikte model temeller oluşturulup sonlu elamanlar yöntemiyle hesap yapan PLAXIS paket programıyla analizler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Yapılan çalışmalar sonucunda, oluşturulan model temellerin düz temele göre taşıma gücü ve oturmalar açısından üstünlük sağladığı gösterilmiştir. Bu tez çalışmasındaki hedef; temel tasarımlarında kullanımda olan düz temellere alternatif olacak betonarme kabuk temel uygulamalarının tanıtılmasıdır. Betonarme kabuk temeller sayesinde üst zyapı yüklerinin fazla olduğu mühendislik yapılarında, temel zemindeki oturmalar azaltılmış olacaktır. Bununla birlikte taşıma gücü daha yüksek temeller tasarlanacaktır. Bu geoteknik avantajların yanında da ekonomik anlamda tasarruf sağlanmış olacaktır. To make safe and economical designs in engineering constructions is considerable significant. In soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering; especially soils with low bearing capacity and soils with settlement potential, the choice of the foundation system plays an important role both in terms of safety and economy. Foundations are the nonvisible section of engineering structures. However, they are the most important part of structrues. Theirs function is to transfer the load of the structure to the soil. A properly designed foundation transfers the load throughout the soil without overstressing the soil. However, geotechnical and structural engineers who design foundations must evaluate the two conditions together. These conditions are as follows: •Foundations must possess sufficient bearing capacity to safety against shear failure in soil. •Amount of settlement attached to structurel load must be within allowable limits as so not produce cracks and damage to a building. Shell foundations perform better in terms of bearing capacity and settlements compared to flat foundations when examined geotechnical behaviour in terms of the soil–structure interaction beneath the foundations. Shells are outstanding performers about to transfer the load of the structure to the soil. Their main advantage is closely related to their lightweight nature since, by definition, they are thin–wall structures requiring reduced quantities of concrete material in their construction. Consequently, the American Concrete Institute has defined a thin shell according to ACI 318–19 as: `A three–dimensional spatial structure made up of one or more curved slabs or folded plates whose thicknesses are small compared to their other dimensions. Thin shells are characterized by their three–dimensional load–carrying behavior, which is determined by the geometry of their forms, by the manner in which they are supported, and by the nature of the applied load.` Reinforced concrete shell footings have been used since 1950s and have been subject to much research, especially due to the heavy superstructure loads perform better in transporting them to the soils with low bearing capacity. Numerical and experimental studies have shown the advantages of shell foundations in terms of geotechnical. Experiments have shown that shell foundations sitting on soft soils are more economical than flat foundations. Shells which arched, circular, triangular, conical, hyperbolic paraboloid, cylindrical, spherical dome, pyramid, square and strip type are used commonly shell foundations of structure. Nowadays, reinforced concrete shell systems are being used in Russia and also the United States, France and Kenya, mainly in Mexico and India. There are numerous successful shell foundation applications in and around the city of Calcutta, particularly in the Mexican city with soft loose deeper alluvial soils and under the Ganges River. Reinforced concrete shell systems are benefit economically on soft soils compared to other alternatives (raft, pile system, soil improvement etc.). Therefore, reinforced concrete shell systems are expected to spread in different countries. The standard for the design and construction of conical and hyperbolic paraboloid shell foundations in India was published in 1980. The performance of shell foundations in terms of bearing capacity and settlements is usually done with comparing it with the performance of flat foundations. The bearing capacity of the shell foundation which has the same dimensions in plan as the flat foundation is greater. The settlement of shell foundations is less than flat foundations under the same load. The reasons for main differences can be listed below: •Rigidity of the foundation •Contact pressure distribution •Soil stress distribution •Failure surfaces of soil under footings •Shell–soil contact surfaces •Geometry of the foundation. In addition, the shells exhibit a higher resistance to horizontal loads than the flat foundations due to rigidity of the foundation and large shell–soil contact surfaces, so that the shells will perform better in earthquake zones. The load transfer in the flat foundations is done with bending moment only. On the other hand, in the case of shell foundation systems, the axial normal forces and shear forces that occur in the average surfaces in addition to bending do the load transfer. In this way, it is possible to obtain ideal solution for large spans. By using the shell foundations, it is possible to form foundation systems, which are more suitable not only in terms of strength but also in terms of rigidity. This thesis introduces shell foundations in general and different types shell foundations in particular as an alternative to the conventional plain foundation. The different types of shells that may be employed in foundations are introduced with their geometry and applications under different situations. Shell foundations can be used as combined or isolated footing. This study explains a study on the geotechnical behavior of shell foundations using a nonlinear finite element analysis with a finite element code, PLAXIS. For the analysis of the finite elements under the static loads of the shell foundations, five different models, one of them flat foundation, were created and loose, medium–dense and dense sands were used. Numerical data obtained from analyzes are presented graphically and comparative evaluations are made. However, the shell efficiency factors and the settlement factors, which express the bearing capacity and settlement differences between the shell and the flat foundation, were calculated. The shell foundation is found to have a better load carrying capacity compared with the conventional flat foundation, which has the same dimensions in plan. It was also the settlements for shell foundations were less as compared to those under flat foundations. From the observations it is evident that the shell footings exhibit a higher load carrying capacity and good settlement characteristics as compared to those of its flat counterparts and thus shows to show that shell foundation could be considered as an economical alternative to conventional flat foundation. The aim of this thesis study; is an introduction to the foundations applications of reinforced concrete shells which will be an alternative to flat foundations used in their foundation designs. Thanks to the reinforced concrete shell foundation, settlements in the soil will be reduced in engineering structures where the superstructure loads are high. Furthermore, the higher the bearing capacity will be designed. In addition to these geotechnical advantages, economical savings will be achieved. 117

Isı yalıtımı, kapalı mekanların iç sıcaklıklarını istenilen düzeyde tutabilmek, dış iklim koşullarına karşı yapılan ısıtma-soğutma işlemlerinde enerji tasarrufu sağlamak, çevre sorunlarını çözmek ve hava kirliliğini azaltmak için yapılarda alınan her türlü önlemler bütünüdür. Isı yalıtımı; aynı zamanda yapıyı dış etkilerden koruyarak ömrünü uzatmakta ve yapı fiziği şartları da yerine getirildiği için işletme maliyetlerini düşürmektedir. Bu tez kapsamında, ülkemizde TS EN 998-1 standardına uygun olarak üretildiği beyan edilen ısı yalıtım harçlarının başta ısı iletkenlik katsayısı ve basınç dayanımı olmak üzere bu standartta belirtilen diğer kriterlere uygunluklarının araştırılması ve bulguların beyan değerleriyle karşılaştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda beş farklı yerli firmaya ait ısı yalıtım sıvalarından sıva harcı numuneleri üretilmiştir. Üretilen numunelerin taze haldeyken kıvam tayini, taze birim hacim kütle, hava içeriği tayini ve sertleşmiş haldeyken kuru birim hacim kütle, basınç ve eğilme dayanımları, kılcal su emme ve ısı iletkenlik katsayısı değerleri elde edilmiştir. Ek olarak, geleneksel ve ısı yalıtım sıvalarının enerji kaybı hesapları ve tasarruf oranları belirlenmiştir.Elde edilen veriler değerlendirildiğinde yalıtım sıvalarının önemli bir kısmının firma beyan değerlerini sağlamadığı gözlemlenmiştir. Bu nedenle firmalara onay verilirken daha sık kontrol yapılmalı ve denetlemeler artırılmalıdır. Bu sayede, firmaların pazarladığı ürünlerin kalitesi artırılacak enerji tasarrufu sağlayan yeni nesil çevreci ürünler kullanıcıya ulaştırılacaktır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Isı yalıtım sıvası, teknik özellikler, uygunluk değerlendirmesi Thermal insulation is all the measures taken in order to keep indoor temperatures at desired levels, to save energy in heating-cooling processes against external climatic conditions, to solve environmental problems and to reduce air pollution. Thermal insulation; at the same time it protects against external influences and extends the life span and reduces the operating costs as the building physics conditions are fulfilled. Within the scope of this thesis, it is aimed to investigate the conformity of declared heat insulation mortars according to TS EN 998-1 standard to other criteria specified in this standard, especially heat conductivity coefficient and compressive strength, and to compare the findings with declared values. For this purpose, plaster mortar samples were produced from the heat insulation facilities belonging to five different domestic companies. Fresh unit consistency, fresh unit volume mass, air content determination and dry unit volume mass, pressure and bending strength, capillary water absorption and thermal conductivity coefficient values of fresh samples were obtained. In addition, energy loss calculations and savings rates of traditional and thermal insulation plants have been determined.When the obtained data were evaluated, it was observed that a significant part of the isolation plants did not satisfy the firm declaration values. Therefore, more frequent checks should be made and audits should be increased when the firm is approved. In this way, the next generation of energy-saving products that will increase the quality of the products marketed by the companies will be delivered to the users.Keywords: Thermal insulation plaster, technical specifications, conformity assessment 120
