A 6-month-old Afshari male lamb was examined on a semi-intensive farm due to anorexia and neurologic signs, including head tilt, circling, bilateral positive menace response and stupor. The sheep was slaughtered and necropsied. After routine parasitology and histopathology procedures, the occurrence of cerebral hydatidosis was confirmed. This study represents the first report of cerebral hydatidosis in sheep and suggests that cerebral hydatid cysts should be considered possible etiological agents for neurological syndromes in sheep. The studied hydatid cyst was sequenced for the COX1 partial gene and submitted as a new strain to the NCBI GenBank with the accession number OR984434.1 and name Jabbasi1. The sequence of this isolate was also compared with other sequences in GenBank using a phylogenetic tree. On the basis of phylogenetic analysis, our strain was classified as a G1 strain and showed high homology to other G1 strains reported from Iran, Iraq and so forth., (© 2024 The Author(s). Background: Among the large animals, the heart of sheep is functionally and structurally very similar to the human heart. In research, sheep are used as an animal model to study the process of cardiac disease pathogenesis and treatment. Therefore, determining the normal values of the heart structures of sheep with echocardiography is of particular emphasis. The purpose of the present research is to define the normal echocardiography values of heart in Iranian Shall breed sheep., Materials and Methods: In 20 healthy Iranian Shall male sheep weighing 30-35 kg and aged 4-6 months, standing echocardiography was done from the right parasternal approach concentrated on the 3rd to 5th intercostal spaces by 2.5-5 MHz phased array transducer in the longitudinal and transverse views by B-mode, M-mode and Doppler systems. In M-mode echocardiographic, the parameters of interventricular septal, left ventricular internal diameter, left ventricular free wall, right ventricular free wall and right ventricular internal diameter in diastole and systole as well as end point septal separation, ejection fraction (EF) slope, aortic root diameter, left atrial appendage, left atrial diameter/aortic valve diameter, left ventricular ejection time, fractional shortening, end-diastolic volume, end-systolic volume, EF, stroke volume and cardiac output and in pulsed-wave spectral Doppler echocardiographic, the parameters of mitral valve maximum velocity (V max ), mitral valve mean velocity (V mean ), mitral valve maximum pressure gradient (PG max ), mitral valve mean pressure gradient (PG mean ), mitral valve velocity time integral (VTI), mitral valve E-wave (MV-E), MV-E pressure gradient, mitral valve A-wave (MV-A), MV-A pressure gradient, aortic V max , aortic valve V mean , aortic valve PG max , aortic valve PG mean , aortic valve VTI, left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT)-V max , LVOT-V mean were measured., Results: All the sheep in this study were healthy and had no signs of heart disease. In this study, the parameters of M-mode and spectral Doppler echocardiographic were assessed and recognized in Iranian Shall sheep. The results demonstrated the parameters of echocardiographic could be dependably determined in Shall sheep which, established normal reference values for these parameters and left ventricular function indices in healthy Shall sheep. These results can be beneficial in appropriate imagination, recognition and measuring cardiac structures., Conclusion: This study can be exerted as a reference for the assessment and diagnosis of heart diseases in sheep medicine and human cardiovascular research in sheep experimental models., (© 2024 The Author(s). Background: Bridging the translational gap between research evidence and health policy in state legislatures requires understanding the institutional barriers and facilitators to non-partisan research evidence use. Previous studies have identified individual-level barriers and facilitators to research evidence use, but limited perspectives exist on institutional factors within legislatures that influence non-partisan research evidence use in health policymaking., Objective: We describe the perspectives of California state legislators and legislative staff on institutional barriers and facilitators of non-partisan research evidence use in health policymaking and explore potential solutions for enhancing use., Design: Case study design involving qualitative interviews., Participants: We interviewed 24 California state legislators, legislative office staff, and legislative research staff., Approach: Semi-structured recorded interviews were conducted in person or by phone to identify opportunities for enhancing non-partisan research evidence use within state legislatures. We conducted thematic analyses of interview transcripts to identify (1) when research evidence is used during the policymaking process, (2) barriers and facilitators operating at the institutional level, and (3) potential solutions for enhancing evidence use., Results: Institutional barriers to non-partisan research evidence use in health policymaking were grouped into three themes: institutional policies, practices, and priorities. Interviews also revealed institutional-level facilitators of research evidence use, including (1) access and capacity to engage with research evidence, and (2) perceived credibility of research evidence. The most widely supported institutional-level solution for enhancing evidence-based health policymaking in state legislatures involved establishing independent, impartial research entities to provide legislators with trusted evidence to inform decision-making., Conclusions: Potential institutional-level changes within state legislatures may enhance evidence use in health policymaking, leading to improved health outcomes and lower healthcare costs for states., (© 2023. Introduction The goal of this study was to see how people who had been diagnosed with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) responded to respiratory function training and rehabilitation (RFTR) nursing. Methodology A total of 122 patients (five to 12 years of age) diagnosed with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) and refractory Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (RMPP) using enzyme-linked immunoassay and PCR were included in this study. These patients were hospitalized at a tertiary care hospital from February 2022 to December 2022. Upon admission, they were assigned a numerical identifier based on the order of admission. Subsequently, they were randomly allocated into two equal groups: the observation (OG) and the control (CG), with each group consisting of 61 patients. Nano-acupoint sticking (NAS) therapy along with respiratory function training and rehabilitation (RFTR) nursing interventions were implemented for patients in the OG. Results The observed disparities in forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC), and the ratio of FEV1 to FVC among the patients did not exhibit significant disparity prior to the commencement of treatment (p values of 0.700, 0.105, and 0.829, respectively). There was no significant difference observed in the range of inflammation in the right lung (p=0.523). Inflammation in the left lung and fluid volume in both lungs are statistically different in both groups (p values of 0.001 and 0.000, respectively). The patients in the observation group exhibited a shorter duration of cough and sputum, disappearance of lung sounds, and length of hospital stays (LOS) compared to the other groups, with statistical significance (p<0.05). Conclusion Nano-acupoint sticking (NAS) therapy with respiratory function training and rehabilitation (RFTR) in nursing practice has shown enhanced rehabilitation outcomes for individuals diagnosed with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP).
