This article presents a fragment of a new comparative dictionary "A comparative dictionary of names of expansive action in Russian and Bulgarian languages". Main features of the new web-based comparative dictionary are placed, the principles of its formation are shown, primary links between the word-matches are classified. The principal difference between translation dictionaries and the model of double comparison is also shown. The classification scheme of the pages is proposed. New concepts and keywords have been introduced. The real prototype of the dictionary with a few key pages is published. The broad debate about the possibility of this prototype to become a version of Russian-Bulgarian comparative dictionary of a new generation is available., Comment: Bulgarian Rusistics; Vol. 1 (2010)

RSC is an essential chromatin remodeling factor that is required for the control of several processes including transcription, repair and replication. The ability of RSC to relocate centrally positioned mononucleosomes at the end of nucleosomal DNA is firmly established, but the data on RSC action on oligo-nucleosomal templates remains still scarce. By using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) imaging, we have quantitatively studied the RSC- induced mobilization of positioned di- and trinucleosomes as well as the directionality of mobilization on mononucleosomal template labeled at one end with streptavidin. AFM imaging showed only a limited set of distinct configurational states for the remodeling products. No stepwise or preferred directionality of the nucleosome motion was observed. Analysis of the corresponding reaction pathways allows deciphering the mechanistic features of RSC-induced nucleosome relocation. The final outcome of RSC remodeling of oligosome templates is the packing of the nucleosomes at the edge of the template, providing large stretches of DNA depleted of nucleosomes. This feature of RSC may be used by the cell to overcome the barrier imposed by the presence of nucleosomes.

Standard DNA melting curves record the separation of the two strands versus temperature, but they do not provide any information on the location of the opening. We introduce an experimental method which adds a new dimension to the melting curves of short DNA sequences by allowing us to record the degree of opening in several positions along the molecule all at once. This adds the spatial dimension to the melting curves and allows a precise investigation of the role of the base-pair sequence on the fluctuations and denaturation of the DNA double helix. We illustrate the power of the method by investigating the influence of an AT rich region on the fluctuations of neighboring domains., Comment: to be published in Europhysics Letters

Chromatin organization and dynamics is studied in this work at scales ranging from single nucleosome to nucleosomal array by using a unique combination of biochemical assays, single molecule imaging technique and numerical modeling. We demonstrate that a subtle modification in the nucleosome structure induced by the histone variant H2A.Bbd drastically modifies the higher order organization of the nucleosomal arrays. Importantly, as directly visualized by AFM, conventional H2A nucleosomal arrays exhibit specific local organization, in contrast to H2A.Bbd arrays, which show "beads on a string" structure. The combination of systematic image analysis and theoretical modeling allows a quantitative description relating the observed gross structural changes of the arrays to their local organization. Our results strongly suggest that higher-order organization of H1-free nucleosomal arrays is mainly determined by the fluctuation properties of individual nucleosomes. Moreover, numerical simulations suggest the existence of attractive interactions between nucleosomes to provide the degree of compaction observed for conventional chromatin fibers., Comment: Biophys J. in press

Understanding the melting of short DNA sequences probes DNA at the scale of the genetic code and raises questions which are very different from those posed by very long sequences, which have been extensively studied. We investigate this problem by combining experiments and theory. A new experimental method allows us to make a mapping of the opening of the guanines along the sequence as a function of temperature. The results indicate that non-local effects may be important in DNA because an AT-rich region is able to influence the opening of a base pair which is about 10 base pairs away. An earlier mesoscopic model of DNA is modified to correctly describe the time scales associated to the opening of individual base pairs well below melting, and to properly take into account the sequence. Using this model to analyze some characteristic sequences for which detailed experimental data on the melting is available [Montrichok et al. 2003 Europhys. Lett. {\bf 62} 452], we show that we have to introduce non-local effects of AT-rich regions to get acceptable results. This brings a second indication that the influence of these highly fluctuating regions of DNA on their neighborhood can extend to some distance., Comment: To be published in J. Phys. We propose a new model for description of electrons beam dynamics in Free Electron Laser (FEL) undulator, based on the method of linear time-dependent invariants of quantum-mechanical charge particle. The magnetic field has periodic structure along the undulator. For this problem, described by time-dependent quadratic Hamiltonian, we obtain exact solution. The time-evolutions of the tree quantum fluctuations: covariance cov(q,p), var(q) and var(p) for the charge particle in this case are also determined. This research will help to optimize the FEL undulator: for example, using a 2.5 GeV linear electron accelerator it will be possible to emit radiation at 1.5 nm and shorter length. This method could be applicable also to any device with periodic structure of applied field (e.g. Tokamak, cyclic accelerators) for the case of charge non-relativistic quantum particles., Comment: 6 pages, 1 figure. There is a growing body of work on sorting and selection in models other than the unit-cost comparison model. This work is the first treatment of a natural stochastic variant of the problem where the cost of comparing two elements is a random variable. Each cost is chosen independently and is known to the algorithm. In particular we consider the following three models: each cost is chosen uniformly in the range $[0,1]$, each cost is 0 with some probability $p$ and 1 otherwise, or each cost is 1 with probability $p$ and infinite otherwise. We present lower and upper bounds (optimal in most cases) for these problems. We obtain our upper bounds by carefully designing algorithms to ensure that the costs incurred at various stages are independent and using properties of random partial orders when appropriate.

A muon telescope based on 8 water cherenkov detectors was mounted at Basic Environmental Observatory - Moussala - Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy - Bulgarian Academy of Science. The telescope will be used for continuous measuring the intensity of the muon component of cosmic rays, exploring its variations and possible correlations with environment parameters. During the runs of the PS 179 experiment at LEAR of CERN, we photographed an event of antiproton-Ne absorption, with a complete pi+ -> mu+ ->e+ chain. From the vertex of the reaction a very slow energy pi+ was emitted. The pi+ decays into a mu+ and subsequently the mu+ decays into a positron. At the first decay vertex a muon neutrino was emitted and at the second decay vertex an electron neutrino and a muon antineutrino. Measuring the pion and muon tracks and applying the momentum and energy conservation and using a classical statistical interval estimator, we obtained an experimental upper limit for the muon neutrino mass: m_nu < 2.2 MeV at a 90% confidence level. The experimental results on some centrality depending characteristics of hadron-nuclear and nuclear-nuclear interactions at high energies demonstrate the regime changes. The studies realized in INRNE (Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy) particulary in cosmic rays detection and construction of Muonic Cerenkov Telescope in University of Blagoevgrad [1] shows the need to develop a theoretical model based on observed phenomenon and to refine it for the detection system optimisation. The effect was introduced in EGS4 code system. The first simulations were consecrated to different geometry of water tank in total reflection. The model was compared with experimental data realised with gamma source using the telescope. A simple atmospheric model is introduced in EGS4. The experimental results on the relation between the processes of total disintegration of nuclei (or the cases with central collisions) and the critical phenomena which can occur in the region of high degree of nuclear disintegration or of collision centrality are discussed., Comment: 8 pages and 13 figuers

The experimental results on the behaviour of the characteristics of secondary particles depending on the disintegration degree of nuclei are used to determine the region of central collisions. It was therefore possible that : - the correlation between the prosesses of total disintegration of nuclei and the central collisions of nuclei had been shown; - the existence of the regime change points in the behaviour of the considered characteristics of secondary particles depending on the disintegration degree of nuclei had been observed in the other earlier experiments as well. The number of all protons in 12CC-interactions at the momentum of 4.2 A GeV/c obtained from the 2-m propane bubble chamber exposed at the Dubna machine is considered as a disintegration degree of nuclei. The experimental results demonstrate that there are cases corresponding to the critical phenomena among the events with the central collisions of nuclei. For 12CC-interaction the behaviour of the number of the events, depending on Q also depends on the number of fragments and has a two-steps form. This result could be explained by the existence of nuclear clusters. The experimental results on the relation between the number of events, the angular distributions of protons and full number of protons are presented for 12CC-interactions at the momentum of 4.2 A GeV/c. The influence of nuclear fragmentation process on the results is also considered.
