The chemical stability of Nd0.33Zr2(PO4)3 fine-grained ceramics, which can be used for immobilization of rare earth elements (REE) that are part of high-level waste was studied. Single-phase Nd0.33Zr2(PO4)3 submicron powders with the structure of the mineral kosnarite were prepared by colloid-chemical synthesis. Powders were prepared by successive annealing at 600, 800, and 900°C for 6 h at each stage. Nd0.33Zr2(PO4)3 ceramic was Nd0.33Zr2(PO4)3 ceramics was produced using spark plasma sintering method (SPS). The relative density of the ceramic was 89.9%; the average grain size was 5–20 μm. The chemical stability of the ceramic in the static mode at 90°C in distilled water and mineral water, as well as in acidic media (0.1 M HCl) and alkaline media (0.01 M NaOH), was studied. The ceramics have high hydrolytic stability. The influence of the contact medium on the rate and mechanism of Nd leaching from the surface of Nd0.33Zr2(PO4)3 fine-grained ceramic samples was studied. The de Groot-van der Sloot model was used to analyze the resulting leaching rate Ri against time t of experiment. Nd leaching occurs by dissociation of Nd from the ceramic surface in acidic medium, diffusion from the inner layers in alkaline medium and mineral water, and dissolution of the ceramic surface layer in distilled water. Like nanotechnology, translational science is a relatively new and transdisciplinary field. Translational science in occupational safety and health (OSH) focuses on the process of taking scientific knowledge for the protection of workers from the lab to the field (i.e., the worksite/workplace) and back again. Translational science has been conceptualized as having multiple phases of research along a continuum, beyond scientific discovery (T0), to efficacy (T1), to effectiveness (T2), to dissemination and implementation (D&I) (T3), to outcomes and effectiveness research in populations (T4). The translational research process applied to occupational exposure to nanomaterials might involve similar phases. This builds on basic and efficacy research (T0 and T1) in the areas of toxicology, epidemiology, industrial hygiene, medicine and engineering. In T2, research and evidence syntheses and guidance and recommendations to protect workers may be developed and assessed for effectiveness. In T3, emphasis is needed on D&I research to explore the multilevel barriers and facilitators to nanotechnology risk control information/research adoption, use, and sustainment in workplaces. D&I research for nanomaterial exposures should focus on assessing sources of information and evidence to be disseminated /implemented in complex and dynamic workplaces, how policy-makers and employers use this information in diverse contexts to protect workers, how stakeholders inform these critical processes, and what barriers impede and facilitate multilevel decision-making for the protection of nanotechnology workers. The T4 phase focuses on how effective efforts to prevent occupational exposure to nanomaterials along the research continuum contribute to large-scale impact in terms of worker safety, health and wellbeing (T4). Stakeholder input and engagement is critical to all stages of the translational research process. This paper will provide: (1) an illustration of the translational research continuum for occupational exposure to nanomaterials; and (2) a discussion of opportunities for applying D&I science to increase the effectiveness, uptake, integration, sustainability, and impact of interventions to protect the health and wellbeing of workers in the nanotechnology field.

Factor V, encoded by the F5 gene, is a procoagulant blood clotting factor that increases the production of thrombin, the central enzyme that converts fibrinogen to fibrin, which leads to the formation of a blood clot. The F5 gene is localized to 1q24.2 chromosome and consists of 25 exons. There are various mutations in the F5 gene that lead to resistance of activated protein C (APC) (elimination of the APС cleavage site in factor V and factor Va), which can lead to arterial and venous thrombosis. The aim of the present study was to analyze variants of the F5 gene in patients diagnosed with coronary atherosclerosis without acute coronary syndrome with stable functional class II–IV angina pectoris, confirmed by coronary angiography data, using the method of whole exome sequencing. Material and methods. The study was conducted in the framework of the Program of joint research work IIPM — branch of the ICG SB RAS and the FSBI «Research Institute of Circulation Pathology named after E.N. Meshalkin» Ministry of Health of Russian Federation. The study included 30 men aged 40–70 years with coronary angiography-­verified coronary atherosclerosis, without ACS, with stable angina pectoris of the II–IV FC. Patients were admitted for coronary bypass surgery, and endarteriaectomy from the coronary artery (s) was performed during the operation according to intraoperative indications. Whole exome sequencing (SureSelectXT Human All Exon v.6+UTR) was carried out on an Illumina NextSeq 500 instrument (USA). Results. In 30 patients, 29 single-­nucleotide variants were found in the F5 gene. In patients with coronary atherosclerosis, rs9332701 of the F5 gene is 3.33 times more common, and rs6027 is 1.67 times more common than in the population. And rs184663825 was found in 3.33% of cases, while its occurrence in the population is 0.05%. For variants rs6034 and rs144979314, a possible damaging effect on the protein product is shown. Conclusion. The single-­nucleotide variants rs9332701, rs6027, rs184663825, rs6034, rs144979314 of the F5 gene are of interest for inclusion in the genetic panels for the analysis of risk factors for the development of acute coronary syndrome.

Abstract—The possibility of low-temperature in situ synthesis of (Ti, W)C using plasma-chemical WC nanopowders and industrial micron TiC powders is demonstrated. Sintering/synthesis of WC–(25, 50, and 75) wt % TiC is carried out by electric pulsed ("spark") plasma sintering (SPS) by heating powders in a vacuum at a rate of 50°C/min to a temperature of more than 1200°C under conditions of applying a stress of 70 MPa. It is established that the synthesis proceeds most efficiently in nanopowders with an addition of 50 and 75 wt % TiC. It is shown that the joint use of plasma-chemical synthesis of nanopowders and SPS makes it possible to obtain fine-grained (with a grain size of less than 1 μm) samples with increased density and satisfactory mechanical properties (Vickers hardness is 17–18 GPa, and minimum Palmquist crack resistance coefficient is ~3 MPa m1/2). Classifications of methods for analyzing the structure of painting canvas, and fabrics in the textile industry are constructed within the framework of the ontology for the subject area of attribution and restoration of paintings. The limited variety of practically applied methods in painting by x-ray analysis, and the perspective of the method of analyzing the texture of the canvas in reflected rays under directed lighting are noted.

The article represents a description of the individual features of the arterial network of the elbow joint and comparing results of the investigation with data of Russian and foreign anatomical schools of the USA, Canada, India and Great Britain. The investigation of the arterial network of the elbow joint of two male and two female dead bodies was implemented on the basis of the Anatomy Table. The screenshots was taken after extracting the arteries of this area. The graphic figures allowed to identify individual features of the arterial network of the elbow joint.

Research subject. The Mississippi Valley type deposits make up about a third of the global balance of lead and zinc reserves, resources and production. Additionally, silver, antimony, arsenic, barium, bismuth, cadmium, cobalt, gallium, indium, mercury, molybdenum, nickel and thallium can be present in the ores of these deposits. In the North-East of Russia, the Mississippi Valley type of deposits is poorly represented. In this work, we investigate the deposits of the Sardana ore cluster of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and individual deposits of the Magadan region. Materials and methods. The article discusses the results of previous scientific research and new data on the geochemical features, isotopic composition of ores and geological and structural conditions for the formation of the Sardana cluster deposit. In addition, the potential for identifying stratiform lead-zinc deposits is associated with favourable geodynamic conditions in the region, as well as with the refinement and adaptation of the forecast-search model of MVT deposits for the North-East of Russia. Results. The mineralogical and geochemical features of the rocks and ores of the Sardana cluster deposits, the morphology of ore bodies, their zoning elements, as well as isotopic ratios indicate that the ores are likely to be of the Mississippi Valley type with the onset of ore deposition at early diagenetic and catagenetic stages. The distribution of rare elements indicates a significant role of superimposed metamorphism of the host carbonate-terrigenous strata in the deposition of the ores of producing stages. Conclusion. The potential possibility of increasing the mineral and raw material base of lead and zinc is associated with the identification of sedimentary basins with a stagnant anoxic regime of carbonate accumulation in the immediate vicinity of the development areas of rift complexes, as well as with the presence of other critically important forecast-search signs. In addition to the well-known Killakh metallogenic zone, Tuora-Sis and Orulgan metallogenic taxa located in the north of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) with known stratiform manifestations of lead and zinc belong to such areas.

The article is devoted to the problems of sports development as one of the key means of popularizing a healthy lifestyle among the population in the context of sustainable development. General scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalization) and specific scientific methods (sociological and historical) were used during the research. The article presents the results of a survey of people who live in Yekaterinburg and are over the age of 18 (N=118, 2023) regarding sports and a healthy lifestyle. Special attention is paid to sports and its impact on national identity and economic development of the state. The role of the state in the development of sports and physical culture is also analyzed. The problems that negatively affect the development of sports and, as a result, its use as a means of spreading a healthy lifestyle are highlighted. It is concluded that the solution of the accumulated problems in the field of sports is possible only thanks to the joint efforts of the state, business community and population.

Modification of bitumen with polymers is an effective way to improve its properties. Despite the sufficiently widespread use of this method, currently there are practically no appropriate methods of this process calculation. Moreover, there are almost no the models to determine the size of formed polymer particles in modified bitumen of non-traditional polymer modifiers. The paper gives a mathematical description of the secondary polyethylene terephthalate particles formation in bitumen during the process of its modification. In terms of the stochastic approach, we obtained the analytical expressions for the differential distribution function of polymer particles in size, as well as the average size, surface, and volume. According to the research, increasing the rotation speed of the stirring mechanism leads to a decrease of the average particle size of the polymer. We use free software wxMaxima to perform the calculations.

Aim. To assess the long-term outcomes of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and their association with calcification biomarkers.Material and methods. The study included 129 men (mean age, 61,5±7,5 years) with coronary atherosclerosis who were admitted for CABG surgery. Patients were divided into 2 groups: with favorable and unfavorable (death, myocardial infarction, stroke, surgery) 5-year prognosis after surgery. Before the surgery, the blood concentrations of calcification biomarkers (osteoprotegerin, osteopontin, osteonectin and osteocalcin) were determined in all patients.Results. Long-term outcomes of myocardial revascularization were studied in 92 patients (71%). An unfavorable long-term 5-year period was identified in 28 men (30,4%). In men with an unfavorable 5-year prognosis, the blood osteocalcin level before CABG was 1,2 times higher than in men with a favorable one. Multivariate linear regression showed that the risk of a 5-year unfavorable prognosis for coronary atherosclerosis after myocardial revascularization was associated with the blood osteocalcin concentration, determined before CABG (B=0,018, R2=0,285, p=0,008).Conclusion. The data obtained indicate the relevance of continuing studies on osteocalcin, including with respect to its contribution to coronary atherosclerosis and calcification.

The features of spark plasma sintering of submicron Al2O3 powders with different contents (0, 0.5, 1.5, 5 vol %) of β-SiC nanoparticles have been studied. The microstructure and hardness of Al2O3 + 5 vol % SiC ceramics obtained by sintering Al2O3 powders with β-SiC particles of various types (nanoparticles, submicron particles, fibers) have been studied. Sintering was carried out at heating rates (Vh) from 10 to 700°C/min. The sintering process of Al2O3 + SiC ceramics with low heating rates (Vh= 10–50°C/min) has a complex three-stage character, with a flat area in the temperature range of 1200–1300°C. At high heating rates (Vh> 250°C/min), the usual three-stage character of sintering is observed. The analysis of temperature dependences of compaction was carried out using the Young–Cutler model; it was found that the kinetics of powder sintering is limited by the intensity of grain boundary diffusion. It is shown that the dependence of the hardness of Al2O3 + SiC ceramics on Vh has a nonmonotonic character, with a maximum. In the case of pure alumina, an increase in Vh leads to a monotonic decrease in hardness. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
