Introduction and Objective: Music has been closely linked to medicine since ancient times, and has brought numerous benefits to the health of patients. Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) undergoing hemodialysis (HD) generally have a health-related quality of life (HRQL) lower than the reference values ​​of the general population. The objective of the present study is to verify if the intervention of classical music live and "in situ" during the treatment of HD has effects on the HRQoL of the patients., Materials and Methods: A prospective, group-randomized intervention study of 4 weeks' duration was carried out in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis. Descriptive variables are included for data analysis: age, sex, months in treatment, Kt/V, hemoglobinand albumin. Result variable: HRQL, measured with the Kidney Diseasse health questionnaire Quality of life (KDQOL-SF) before and after the musical intervention., Results: Patients participated in 2 groups, the intervention group and the control group. The analysis of the results shows that the intervention group improved their quality of life compared to the initial measurement. The difference between the pre and post time of the intervention group with respect to the control group increased the mean score (pm) in all the scales significantly, except in the Work situation, Sexual function and Social support scales. The most important results were given on the Symptoms/problems scale with an increase of 15.78 (p < 0.001) pm; in scale Effects of kidney disease with an increase of 14.96 (p < 0.001) pm; in scale Burden of kidney disease with an increase of 16.36 (p < 0.001) pm; on the Dream scale with an increase of 14.78 (p < 0.001) pm; on the Vitality scale with an increase of 25.46 (p < 0.001) pm; on the Emotional well-being scale with an increase of 29.57 (p < 0.001) pm; on the Pain scale with an increase of 41.92 (p < 0.001) pm and on the General Health scale with an increase of 23.39 (p < 0.001) pm., Conclusion: Intervention with live music and on-site while receiving hemodialysis treatment improves self-perceived HRQL in patients with chronic kidney disease., (Copyright © 2021 Sociedad Española de Nefrología. Sirtuin 3 (SIRT3) is one of the seven mammalian sirtuin homologs of the yeast Sir2 gene that has emerged as an important player in the regulation of energy metabolism in peripheral tissues. However, its role in the hypothalamus has not been explored. Herein, we show that the genetic inhibition of SIRT3 in the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus (ARC) induced a negative energy balance and improvement of several metabolic parameters. These effects are specific for POMC neurons, because ablation of SIRT3 in POMC, but not in AgRP neurons, decreased body weight and adiposity, increased energy expenditure and brown adipose tissue (BAT) activity, and induced browning in white adipose tissue (WAT). Notably, the depletion of SIRT3 in POMC neurons caused these effects in male mice fed a chow diet but failed to affect energy balance in males fed a high fat diet and females under both type of diets. Membrane-bound proteases play a key role in biology by degrading matrix proteins or shedding adhesion receptors. MT1-MMP metalloproteinase is critical during cancer invasion, angiogenesis, and development. MT1-MMP activity is strictly regulated by internalization, recycling, autoprocessing but also through its incorporation into tetraspanin-enriched microdomains (TEMs), into invadopodia, or by its secretion on extracellular vesicles (EVs). We identified a juxtamembrane positively charged cluster responsible for the interaction of MT1-MMP with ERM (ezrin/radixin/moesin) cytoskeletal connectors in breast carcinoma cells. Linkage to ERMs regulates MT1-MMP subcellular distribution and internalization, but not its incorporation into extracellular vesicles. MT1-MMP association to ERMs and insertion into TEMs are independent phenomena, so that mutation of the ERM-binding motif in the cytoplasmic region of MT1-MMP does not preclude its association with the tetraspanin CD151, but impairs the accumulation and coalescence of CD151/MT1-MMP complexes at actin-rich structures. Conversely, gene deletion of CD151 does not impact on MT1-MMP colocalization with ERM molecules. At the plasma membrane MT1-MMP autoprocessing is severely dependent on ERM association and seems to be the dominant regulator of the enzyme collagenolytic activity.
