This article lists the officers of the Gannett Center for Media Studies 1987 Leadership Institute. Among the twenty-one faculty members in the areas of mass communication and journalism, the following were selected as officers of the institute: Frank Beaver, chairman of the Department of Communication at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan; Donald Ellis, chairman of the Department of Communication at the University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut; Robert Hoskins, dean of the College of Communication at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas; Paul Nelson, dean of the College of Communication at Ohio University and Charles Self, professor at the School of Communication at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The purpose of the institute is to teach skills needed to assume intellectual, academic and professional leadership roles in the university.
