The optimization work of a newly proposed 20-in. photomultiplier tube based on dynode and microchannel plates (Dynode-MCP-PMT) are conducted in this paper. Three-dimensional models are developed in CST STUDIO SUITE to systematically investigate the effects of the size and bias voltage of the two focusing electrodes, dynode and the glass envelop handle based on the Finite Integral Technique and Monte Carlo method. Considering the prevalence of cyberbullying, the current study explores the factors associated with its perpetration. Using self-determination theory, the association of parental psychological control (PPC) with cyberbullying perpetration was examined. To explore this influencing mechanism further, psychological reactance (PRt) and materialism were examined as two mediators in this relationship. Moreover, according to the diathesis-stress model and cognitive model of resilience, psychological resilience (PRl) was examined as a moderator in the direct and indirect link between PPC and cyberbullying perpetration. To test our expectations, 804 adolescents ( M = 13.12, SD = 1.16) participated in the current study using a cross-sectional design and multiple questionnaires, namely, the Chinese version of the Parental Control Questionnaire, Revised Cyber Bullying Inventory, Hong Psychological Reactance Scale, Material Values Scale for Children, and Resilience Scale for Chinese Adolescents. Correlation analysis indicated that PPC, PRt, materialism, and cyberbullying perpetration were significantly and positively correlated, and were significantly and negatively related to PRl. Moderated mediation analysis revealed that PRt and materialism played multiple mediating roles in the relationship between PPC and cyberbullying perpetration. Multiple mediation analysis indicated that PRl weakened the direct associations of PPC, PRt, and materialism with cyberbullying perpetration, further alleviating the indirect and direct associations of PPC with cyberbullying perpetration, supporting the moderated mediation model. Specifically, adolescents high in PPC were more likely to have stronger PRt and materialistic values, which further triggered cyberbullying perpetration. PRl can protect adolescents high in PPC from cyberbullying perpetration via weakening the direct and indirect associations of PPC with cyberbullying.

Background: Colony stimulating factor 1 receptor (CSF-1R) is a single channel III transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) and plays an important role in immune regulation and the development of various cancer types. The expression of CSF-1R in colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) and its prognostic value remain incompletely understood. Therefore, we aim to explore the prognostic value of CSF-1R in COAD and its relationship with tumor immunity., Methods: CSF-1R expression in a COAD cohort containing 103 patients was examined using immunohistochemistry (IHC). The relationship between CSF-1R expression and clinicopathological parameters and prognosis was evaluated. Dual immunofluorescence staining was conducted to determine the localization of CSF-1R in COAD tissues. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis were performed to evaluate independent prognostic factors. Transcriptomic profiles of CSF-1R high and CSF-1R low tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) were investigated. Gene enrichment analysis was used to explore the signal pathways related to CSF-1R. In addition, the relationship between CSF-1R in tumor microenvironment (TME) and tumor immunity was also studied., Results: IHC analysis showed that CSF-1R was overexpressed in COAD, and higher expression was associated with shorter overall survival (OS). Immunofluorescence staining showed that CSF-1R was co-localized with macrophage marker CD68. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that CSF-1R was an independent prognostic factor for COAD. The results of gene enrichment analysis showed that CSF-1R was involved in tumor immune response and regulation of TME. The current study sought to examine whether parental phubbing was significantly related to adolescents' cyberbullying perpetration and if moral disengagement mediated this relationship. We further examined whether online disinhibition moderated the direct and indirect relationships between parental phubbing and adolescents' cyberbullying perpetration. The participants included 2,407 adolescents from seven middle schools in China who completed the questionnaires regarding their experience with parental phubbing, moral disengagement, cyberbullying perpetration, and online disinhibition. Results indicated that adolescents with a high level of parental phubbing were likely to cyberbully others. Moral disengagement significantly mediated the relationship between parental phubbing and adolescents' cyberbullying perpetration. Furthermore, online disinhibition moderated the indirect relationship between parental phubbing and adolescents' cyberbullying perpetration. Specifically, the paths from parental phubbing to moral disengagement and from moral disengagement to cyberbullying perpetration became strengthened when adolescents experienced high levels of online disinhibition.

Background: Cognitive dysfunction is one of the main symptoms of neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). As an important cognitive function, working memory (WM) has rarely been systematically analyzed in NF1 by isolating the particular domain of WM, and existing data involving WM in adult patients with NF1 are insufficient. This study aimed to investigate the characteristics of different types of WM in NF1 from the perspective of the adult population. Method: We comprehensively analyzed WM in both verbal and visuospatial WM domains by using the N-back task (including the verbal N-back task and the visuospatial N-back task) in 31 adults with NF1 and 34 healthy controls matched for age, gender, education levels, and general cognitive status. The accuracy and reaction times (RTs) in the N-back task were entered into mixed-design ANOVA. Results: Compared with healthy controls, adults with NF1 presented significantly lower mean accuracy and longer RTs in the visuospatial N-back task. However, no significant difference was found between the NF1 group and healthy controls in the verbal N-back task. Conclusions: The present study suggested that adults with NF1 might have deficits in visuospatial WM. We did not find evidence for verbal WM deficits in adult patients with NF1. With the development of Internet technology, cyberbullying has become a serious social issue and public concern in modern society. Based on the general aggression model and an evolutionary psychological perspective, the present study aimed to examine (a) whether student-student relationship would be significantly related to cyberbullying, (b) whether materialism would mediate the link between student-student relationship and cyberbullying, (c) whether boys would be more likely to engage in cyberbullying than girls, and (d) whether there would be gender differences among the links between student-student relationship and cyberbullying. The research hypotheses were tested among 712 Chinese middle school students ( M age = 13.66 years, SD = 1.36; 50% of the participants were boys) with a moderated mediation model. The results showed that student-student relationship was negatively related to cyberbullying, with their link mediated by materialism. Furthermore, boys were more likely to engage in cyberbullying than girls. Moderated mediation analyses indicated that gender moderated the path between materialism and cyberbullying, with the effect being significant only among the male participants. Gender did not moderate the link between student-student relationship and materialism, and between student-student relationship and cyberbullying. This study highlighted the importance of uncovering the links between adolescents' offline interpersonal relationships and cyberbullying, as well as the benefits of applying the evolutionary psychological perspective to study cyberbullying.

A growing body of research has pinpointed the consequences as well as mechanisms of phubbing. However, few studies have explored the relationship between peer phubbing and social networking site addiction. Based on the self-determination theory, the exclusion theory of anxiety, the social compensation model, and the reserve capacity model, the present study examined whether peer phubbing was positively related to social networking site addiction among undergraduates, whether social anxiety mediated the relationship, and whether this mediating process was moderated by family financial difficulty. Our theoretical model was tested using the data collected from 1,401 Chinese undergraduates ( M age = 18.83 years, standard deviation = 0.93). The participants completed anonymous questionnaires that assessed their peer phubbing, social anxiety, social networking site addiction, and family financial difficulty. The correlation analysis indicated that peer phubbing was positively associated with social networking site addiction. The testing for moderated mediation further revealed that social anxiety partially mediated the association between peer phubbing and social networking site addiction, with family financial difficulty moderating the first stage. To be specific, the indirect association between peer phubbing and social networking site addiction via social anxiety was stronger for undergraduates in high family financial difficulty. Objective: Although bilateral vestibular schwannomas (VSs) in individual NF2 patients have the same NF2 gene mutation, they often show different growth patterns. We attempted to identify factors associated with this growth pattern inconsistency., Patients and Methods: Cranial MR images of 120 untreated VSs in 60 NF2 patients were carefully reviewed for their growth rates. Growth pattern analysis was performed on 68 VSs in 34 NF2 patients followed up for more than three years with at least three cranial MR scans., Results: Patient age and tumor volume were significantly associated with NF2 VS absolute growth rates (p < 0.05). Bilateral VS growth patterns in individual NF2 patients were the same in 18 (52.9 %) and different in 16 (47.1 %) patients. Patients with consistent bilateral growth patterns were significantly younger than the inconsistent patients (21.8 ± 5.8 years vs. 30.8 ± 13.1 years, p = 0.014). The bilateral VS volume consistency rates were significantly higher in patients with consistent growth patterns than in patients with inconsistent growth patterns (10/18 vs. 3/16, p = 0.028)., Conclusions: Patient age and volume consistency are the clinical risk factors for bilateral NF2 VS growth pattern inconsistencies. Bilateral VSs in young NF2 patients tend to have the same growth patterns. Objective: The incidence of and risk factors for intra- and postoperative cerebrospinal fluid (poCSF) leak in patients who underwent endoscopic surgery for pituitary adenoma were investigated in this retrospective study. Methods: A total of 216 consecutive patients operated on by a single neurosurgical team were included. Logistic regression was applied to identify risk factors for intraoperative CSF (ioCSF) and poCSF leaks, and the outcome and management of ioCSF and poCSF leaks were analyzed. Results: Sixty-five patients (30.1%) experienced ioCSF leak, of whom 10 developed poCSF leak. Three of 151 patients developed poCSF leak without obvious ioCSF leak. Multiple regression analysis revealed that tumor with lobular or irregular contour and gonadotrophic-positive staining increased the risk of ioCSF leak; additionally, nonfunctional tumor ( p  = 0.058) and preoperative gonadotrophic hormone abnormalities ( p  = 0.08) tended to increase this risk. The presence of ioCSF leak and preoperative visual impairment were predictors for poCSF leak. Tumor with Knosp grades 3-4 and a higher grade of ioCSF leak could increase the risk of poCSF leak. Tailored pedicled vascularized nasoseptal flaps (NSFs) preparation before tumor removal greatly decreased the rate of poCSF leak with ioCSF leak and the overall leak rate. Three prophylactic lumbar drains (LDs) were performed in patients with grade 3 ioCSF leak, none of whom developed poCSF leak. Conclusions: Lobular or irregular tumor contour and gonadotrophic-positive staining were associated with a high risk of ioCSF leak, while ioCSF leak and preoperative visual impairment were associated with poCSF leak. NSF preparation, preventive sellar reconstruction and LD use could likely decrease the rate of poCSF leak.

Objective: NF2 patients can develop new meningiomas throughout their lifetime. Little is known about the clinical features of newly developed NF2 meningiomas. In this study, we analyzed newly developed NF2 meningiomas in a large patient population., Patients and Methods: Among 452 NF2 patients, the location patterns of 81 pediatric and 939 adult NF2 meningiomas were compared to find the predominant locations of newly developed meningiomas in adulthood. The clinical features of 39 newly developed meningiomas in 24 NF2 patients were summarized. Clinical risk factors of NF2 meningioma growth rates were analyzed., Results: Pediatric patients had significantly more intracranial meningiomas than adult patients at the skull base (except for the petrosal region) (p < 0.0063). Adult patients had significantly more cranial meningiomas than pediatric patients at the parasagittal, parafalcine (middle & posterior), and frontal/parietal/cerebellar convex surfaces (p < 0.0063). Newly developed NF2 meningiomas in adults tended to occur at different locations than the locations of NF2 meningiomas in pediatric patients. New meningiomas could develop at various ages. Ninety-five NF2 patients were imaged and followed up for at least one year. Twenty-four patients (25.3 %) developed 39 new meningiomas during the follow-up period. They usually had initial meningiomas when new meningiomas occurred. The number of newly developed meningiomas per patient and the petrosal location were significantly associated with both the absolute and relative annual growth rates (p < 0.05)., Conclusions: The number of newly developed NF2 meningiomas seems to be a clinical marker of NF2 disease severity. In adults, new NF2 meningiomas tend to occur in patients with initial meningiomas. Surgical treatment of vestibular schwannoma (VS) in patients with neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) along with functional preservation of cranial nerves is challenging. The aim of this study was to analyze the outcomes of hearing and facial nerve function in patients with NF2 who underwent large-size VS (> 2 cm) surgery. From 2006 to 2016, one hundred and forty NF2 patients were included with 149 large-size VS resections using retrosigmoid approach. Hearing function was classified according to the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) criteria. Preoperative and one-year postoperative facial nerve function were both assessed using the House-Brackmann (H-B) grading scale. A multivariate logistic regression was performed to identify preoperative predictors for facial function outcomes. No operative death we noted. Total tumor removal was achieved in 82.6% of the operated VSs. The anatomical integrity of the facial nerve was preserved in 67.8% of surgeries. Good facial nerve function (H-B Grades I-III) was maintained in 49.6% of patients at 12 months after surgery. Tumor size larger than 3 cm and preoperative facial weakness related with worse outcome of facial nerve function (P < 0.001; for both). Hearing preservation surgeries were attempted in 31 ears. Class B or C hearing according to the AAO-HNS criteria was maintained in 7 ears (22.5%), and measurable hearing was maintained 11 ears (35.5%). It is challenging to maintain hearing and facial nerve function in NF2 patients with large VSs. Early surgical intervention is an appropriate choice to decrease the risk of neurological functions deficit.

Objective: To study the pathologic characteristics and prognosis in different subtypes of adult medulloblastoma (MB)., Methods: The clinical information, imaging findings and pathologic characteristics of 151 cases of adult medulloblastomas were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed by chi-square test. The survival data were assessed using the Kaplan-Meier method., Results: Amongst the 151 MB cases studied, there were 73 cases of classic MB, 36 cases of desmoplastic/nodular MB, 39 cases of anaplastic MB and 3 cases of large cell MB. The primary tumors were more frequently located in cerebral hemisphere in desmoplastic/nodular MB than in other subtypes (P=0.000).On the other hand, large cell/anaplastic MB were associated with more frequently local recurrence and distant metastasis (P=0.003). The post-operative overall survival time ranged from 6 to 150 months, with median survival being (103.3±5.7) months (95%CI, 92.52 to 115.09). The median survival of classic MB, desmoplastic/nodular MB and large cell/anaplastic MB was (110.7±7.8) months, (125.5±7.6) months and (57.6±7.6) months, respectively. The differences were statistically significant (P=0.000)., Conclusions: The three variants of MB show different biologic behavior. Large cell/anaplastic MB represents an independent poor prognostic indicator in adults.
