Background: Positive psychology is a branch of psychology that focuses on personality strengths and behaviors that allow people to build meaningful and purposeful lives to move beyond survival to flourishing. Aims: The purpose of this research was to determine the effectiveness of positive psychology on the perspective of time and psychological capital of mothers of children with special learning disabilities. Methods: This research was an experimental study with a semi-experimental design and a pre-test-post-test type with a control group. The statistical population of the present study was all the mothers of children with special learning disorders in Tehran. The sample size of the study was considered equal to 30 people using the available random sampling method. The method of data collection included: library and field. In this research, two psychological capital questionnaires by Lutans, Lutans Keely and Lutans Burt (2004) and Zimbardo and Boyd's (1999) time perspective were used as data collection tools. Research data were analyzed using the Statistical Package in Social Sciences, version 21 (SPSS). To describe the data, statistical indicators of mean and standard deviation were used in the pre-test and post-test phases. In order to check the normality of the research variables, the Kalmogorov Smirnov test was used and in order to check the homogeneity of the variances, the Levine test was used. Also, in order to compare the average scores of the two experimental and control groups and the effect of the pre-test scores and other intervening variables on the post-test, covariance analysis was used. Results: The results showed that positive psychology training has a positive and significant effect on the perspective of time and psychological capital of mothers of children with specific learning disabilities. Conclusion: According to the results of the research, it can be said that positive psychology can improve the perspective of time and psychological capital of mothers of children with special learning disorders. The library is one of the contributing factors or a supporting tool in the educational process at schools, ranging from elementary to higher education levels. A school library is any library organized within a school, where it is essential to have books that support and serve as references for students, both to enhance their knowledge and to complete assignments given by their teachers, as books are the repository of knowledge. Therefore, a library fundamentally enhances its existence and students' interest in learning because, with a school library, students can learn independently and in line with the development of Science and Technology. Based on the context above, the author formulated the following problems: (1) Is there an influence of the school library on the mathematics learning achievement of Grade III students in the first trimester at Escola Básica Central Vasco Da Gama Manatuto in the 2014 academic year? and (2) Do students who utilize the library perform better in mathematics than those who do not use the library in Grade III during the first trimester at Escola Básica Central Vasco Da Gama Manatuto in the 2014 academic year? To address these problem formulations, the researcher conducted a population study of 112 and a sample study of 56 students. The prerequisite analysis results showed that the research data were normally distributed and linearly patterned, so the primary analysis used parametric statistics. The statistical test used was simple correlation with a determination coefficient of 36.72%, which means that the contribution of school library utilization to mathematics learning achievement is 36.72%, and the remaining 63.28% is influenced by other factors. The analysis results for the first hypothesis showed that the t-value was greater than the t-table value, or 5.598 > 2.006, indicating a significant influence of school library use on mathematics learning achievement for Grade III students in the first trimester at Escola Básica Central Vasco da Gama Manatuto, in the 2014 academic year. The analysis results for the second hypothesis also showed that the t-value was greater than the t-table value, or 2.91 > 2.007, indicating a difference where students who utilized the school library performed better in mathematics than those who did not utilize the school library in Grade III during the first trimester at Escola Básica Central Vasco da Gama Manatuto, in the 2014 academic year. Based on the research results and data analysis, the author suggests the following: (1) It is hoped that students or learners can maintain and utilize the facilities available in the school library, especially books and other collections deemed very useful to support the teaching and learning process; (2) The government of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, especially the Ministry of Education, should give serious attention to school libraries from kindergarten to higher education levels so that they can help students learn independently; and (3) Librarians should serve visitors, especially students, with a cheerful and open heart. The article reports on the circulating adaptive toy collection at the Palm Harbor Library which aims to help enhance learning of children with special needs through play. It is mentioned that it is the first of its kind in any public library in Florida and has been duplicated in several library systems in the Tampa Bay area. The toys' mechanics and effects on children such as the special lights and textures are also discussed.

This research explains the differences and ambiguities of the UAE Maritime Zones Laws with the International Convention on the Law of the Sea by comparing the UAE's 1993 Maritime Zones Law and other maritime laws of this state with the provisions of the 1982 International Convention on the Law of the Sea. The current research was fundamental-applicative in terms of purpose and descriptive-analytical in terms of nature and method. The data collection has been done with the library research and the available documents. The maritime laws of the UAE, the text of the Convention on the International Law of the Sea, the statements of the United Arab Emirates based on the documents of the United Nations have been studied and reviewed. The findings of the research showed that most of the UAE laws were derived from the text and content of the convention. The UAE Maritime Law on how to draw straight baselines and in Articles (2) (Application of the law of internal waters for islands that are 12 miles apart), (5) (exceptions mentioned for innocent passage); (7) (expansion of the territorial sea in the exclusive economic zone); (10) (security jurisdiction in the contiguous zone), and (26) (imprisonment punish for violation of the provisions in maritime zones) of the Maritime Zones Act of 1993 are different from the Convention or are ambiguous and disputed by states. The way the UAE's baselines are drawn has an important impact on the maritime jurisdiction of opposite and adjacent states, including Iran. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Despite the relevance and prevalence of research that produced knowledge about stigmatised groups and communities throughout the 1980s and 1990s, in the United States, studies that investigated the relationship between HIV/AIDS, intersectional stigma, and health-illness status among groups considered hegemonic are incipient—i.e., heterosexual, and white groups, who did not suffer stigma due to sexuality and race/colour, for example. In this study, such a gap is examined in order to observe the effects of stigma in non-exposed communities. Additionally, the article (i) explores the formation of a pioneering group of caregivers in New York City, the Mothers of Patients with AIDS (MPWA), created in 1986; and (ii) analyses narratives about health disease from a collective care agenda established by middle-aged and elderly mothers dealing with the challenges and needs of adult children and people with moderate and high degrees of dependence. This study is part of a larger project that investigated the emergence of non-profit organisations and gerontology care groups in the context of the HIV-AIDS epidemic in New York in the 1980s and 1990s. Documentary research was developed in the Florence Rush collection, made available by the Arthur and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library at Harvard University’s Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. The selected materials bring together qualitative empirical sources from reports, personal histories, and interviews conducted by Florence Rush and other mothers, social workers, and health professionals. As the results attest, the narratives produced by Florence Rush’s interlocutors during the AIDS health crisis make it possible to understand how social and cultural dynamics of recognising the disease did not result in autonomous, individual, and objective processes for exposing the pathological state. The strategic use of the term “cancer” instead of “AIDS” as an umbrella definition, and one less demarcated by aspects involving gender and sexual behaviour, evidenced the sociality of the illness. Conclusions show how negative representations were associated with AIDS—perceived as harmful, immoral, or deviant behaviours — and produced new meanings and demands among patients who feared stigmatising classifications in the midst of sexual panic until the commercial availability of the antiretroviral cocktail in 1997. This institutional case study analyses 1723 sources referenced in five PhD theses awarded at Alphacrucis University College between 2017 and 2021. The purpose was to demonstrate that the library's collection development policy is successfully guiding purchasing decisions in order to provide students with the resources they need to complete their research at high levels. Sources were extracted from each thesis and grouped according to type. Library holdings were then checked, revealing that, overall, 70.2% of all cited sources were available from the AC library collection. This research aims to explain and analyze Indonesia's decision to buy the Dassault Rafale fighter aircraft from France in 2022. It is known that Indonesia will retire its old F-5 Tiger fighter aircraft and its outdated technology. Indonesia's purchase of Dassault Rafale fighter aircraft to increase air defense capabilities, strengthen bilateral cooperation and increase national military capabilities. Several options for Indonesia to choose which fighter aircraft to buy, namely Gripen from Sweden, Eurofighter from Austria, Dassault Rafale from France, and Sukhoi Su-35 from Russia. The theory used in this research is Rational Choice. This study used descriptive qualitative method. In this research, data collection techniques were carried out by collecting data through available literature and library materials, mass media, print media, electronic media, books, journals and related articles, as well as other open sources. The results of this research show that Indonesia's decision to buy the Dassault Rafale fighter aircraft from France was based on two considerations, namely economic considerations where maintenance costs are low, technology transfer, and the potential to increase the national defense industry, increasing independence in the production and maintenance of military defense equipment and political considerations, namely diplomatic relations, regional security and national strategic interests. One of the cloud-based solutions introduced in the university library is changing catalog management to be accessible, scalable, and resource-efficient. The following abstract debate discusses how the influence of cloud technologies has changed the catalog management system/CMS features of academic libraries regarding resource management, user access, and practice performance improvements. Cloud-based catalog management systems put libraries more squarely in control, with flexibility and adaptability, over their gargantuan collections. Compared with traditional, locally stored systems, cloud-based CMS is much more capable of handling growing digital and physical collections and ensuring that library resources are always available to users of the same libraries. This expansibility feature is vital for university libraries, which receive new materials constantly and have to keep track of large and complex collections. The vital benefit of cloud-based systems is that they will increase ease of access tremendously. This will further enable students, teachers, and academics to view library libraries from anywhere on any device-brilliantly making libraries open and end-users accessible. Better usability will mean users can locate materials fast and retrieve them a whole lot easier and enhance the experience for academic study and learning. Cloud-based stock management makes operations highly streamlined. Automation of upkeep and updating lightens the workload. This heavy load of library staff has been reduces, and this precious team will currently think more in scale with large projects and user support. Run advanced analytics tools that create reports, assisting librarians to gain a lot from patterns of resource use, including user behavioral patterns and the nature of allocation. There is a need for novel chemical matter for phenotypic and target-based screens to find starting points for drug discovery programmes in neglected infectious diseases and non-hormonal contraceptives that disproportionately affect Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). In some disease areas multiple screens of corporate and other libraries have been carried out, giving rise to some valuable starting points and leading to preclinical candidates. Whilst in other disease areas, little screening has been carried out. Much screening against pathogens has been conducted phenotypically as there are few robustly validated protein targets. However, many of the active compound series identified share the same molecular targets. To address the need for new chemical material, in this article we describe the design of a new library, designed for screening in drug discovery programmes for neglected infectious diseases. The compounds have been selected from the Enamine REAL (REadily AccessibLe) library, a virtual library which contains approximately 4.5 billion molecules. The molecules theoretically can be synthesized quickly using commercially available intermediates and building blocks. The vast majority of these have not been prepared before, so this is a source of novel compounds. In this paper we describe the design of a diverse library of 30,000 compounds from this collection (graphical abstract). The new library will be made available to laboratories working in neglected infectious diseases, subject to a review process. Author summary: Screening of diverse compound libraries is a powerful way to find chemical start points for drug discovery programmes. There is a lack of such chemical libraries available for neglected infectious diseases and other neglected areas such as non-hormonal contraception. The aim was to develop a library of diverse chemical matter unlikely to have been screened in these disease areas. The compounds were selected from the REAL (REadily AccessibLe) Enamine library, a virtual library of 4.5 billion compounds. The methodology for selection of the compounds is described, along with a detailed analysis of the physicochemical properties of the compounds and comparison to other libraries that we have assembled. This shows that the library contains hit/lead-like compounds suitable as chemical start points, and whilst it covers a similar space to some other libraries, the material within the library is mainly different to other libraries. As libraries, archives, and museums make unique digital collections openly available via digital library platforms, they expose these resources to users who may wish to cite them. Often several URLs are available for a single digital object, depending on which route a user took to find it, but the chosen citation URL should be the one most likely to persist over time. Catalyzed by recent digital collections migration initiatives at Indiana University Libraries, this study investigates the prevalence of persistent URLs for digital objects at peer institutions and examines the ways their platforms instruct users to cite them. This study reviewed institutional websites from the Digital Library Federation's (DLF) published list of 195 members and identified representative digital objects from unique digital collections navigable from each institution's main web page in order to determine persistent URL formats and citation options. Findings indicate an equal split between offering and not offering discernible persistent URLs with four major methods used: Handle, DOI, ARK, and PURL. Significant variation in labeling persistent URLs and inclusion in item-specific citations uncovered areas where the user experience could be improved for more reliable citation of these unique resources. 'Collections as data' has become a core activity for libraries in recent years: it is important that we make collections available in machine-readable formats to enable and encourage computational research. However, while this is a necessary output, discussion around the processes and workflows required to turn collections into data, and to make collections data available openly, are just as valuable. With libraries increasingly becoming producers of their own collections - presenting data from digitisation and digital production tools as part of datasets, for example - and making collections available at scale through mass-digitisation programmes, the trustworthiness of our processes comes into question. In a world of big data, often of unclear origins, how can libraries be transparent about the ways in which collections are turned into data, how do we ensure that biases in our collections are recognised and not amplified, and how do we make these datasets available openly for reuse? This paper presents a case study of work underway at the National Library of Scotland to present collections as data in an open and transparent way - from establishing a new Digital Scholarship Service, to workflows and online presentation of datasets. It considers the changes to existing processes needed to produce the Data Foundry, the National Library of Scotland's open data delivery platform, and explores the practical challenges of presenting collections as data online in an open, transparent and coherent manner. This article from the Oregon Historical Quarterly discusses the work of photographer Al Monner, who documented mid-twentieth-century Oregon life through his job as a photojournalist for the Oregon Journal and the Oregonian. Monner's photographs captured a wide range of subjects, including local politics, festivities, and national news events. One notable photograph from 1946 features Floyd W. Osgood and his spaniel dog, Musical Sue, who was trained to play tunes on a musical instrument made from milk bottles. Monner's extensive collection of photographs, which includes over 40,000 images, is now held in the OHS research library, with a selection of over 3,600 photographs available digitally on OHS Digital Collections. The author partnered with the Harrison County Library System (HCLS) to create a multilevel program plan for expanding library services to the growing number of homeless people who seek refuge in the library’s facilities. The research for this program plan involved evaluating existing library resources such as collections, programming, and available staff resources; identifying the best practices for providing services to people experiencing homelessness; identifying staff perceptions of working with the homeless; and identifying potential partners for expanded service offerings. The author used document analysis to research data on the library system (IMLS 2021 and reviewed library policy to identify barriers to providing service for the homeless. The author applied qualitative and humanistic research methods involving personal narratives (scenarios) provided through two separate one-on-one interviews with the library director to discuss the library system in general, and one one-on-one interview with six library staff working in the three libraries with the highest use by people experiencing homelessness. Aim of the study: The current updated meta-analysis aimed to explore the effects of vitamin D supplementation on various parameters in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), using the latest trials available. Material and methods: PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library were screened for the collection of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that compared the efficacy of additional vitamin D vs. the placebo group on NAFLD patients in the last 5 years. Trials included were focused on the assessment of anthropometric and biochemical indices. Results: Our results revealed that additional vitamin D greatly increased serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D), and decreased the low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) levels. However, no significant differences were found in terms of triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), c-glutamyltransferase, fasting blood glucose (FBG), homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) and Ca2+ levels between the supplementation of vitamin D and placebo. Conclusions: The present study demonstrated the advantageous impact of supplementary vitamin D on the levels of 25(OH)D and LDL-C in NAFLD patients. However, the results failed to provide evidence for the superiority of additional vitamin D in relation to the concentrations of serum ALP, AST, TC, Ca, ?-glutamyl transferase (GGT), TC, FBG, IR and HDL-C. Shadow libraries, also known as "pirate libraries", are online collections of copyrighted publications that have been made available for free without the permission of the copyright holders. They have gradually become key players of scientific knowledge dissemination, despite their illegality in most countries of the world. Many publishers and scientist-editors decry such libraries for their copyright infringement and loss of publication usage information, while some scholars and institutions support them, sometimes in a roundabout way, for their role in reducing inequalities of access to knowledge, particularly in low-income countries. Although there is a wealth of literature on shadow libraries, none of this have focused on its potential role in knowledge dissemination, through the open access movement. Here we analyze how shadow libraries can affect researchers' citation practices, highlighting some counter-intuitive findings about their impact on the Open Access Citation Advantage (OACA). Based on a large randomized sample, this study first shows that OA publications, including those in fully OA journals, receive more citations than their subscription-based counterparts. However, the OACA has slightly decreased over the seven last years. The introduction of a distinction between those accessible or not via the Sci-hub platform among subscription-based suggest that the generalization of its use cancels the positive effect of OA publishing. The results show that publications in fully OA journals are victims of the success of Sci-hub. Thus, paradoxically, although Sci-hub may seem to facilitate access to scientific knowledge, it negatively affects the OA movement as a whole, by reducing the comparative advantage of OA publications in terms of visibility for researchers. The democratization of the use of Sci-hub may therefore lead to a vicious cycle, hindering efforts to develop full OA strategies without proposing a credible and sustainable alternative model for the dissemination of scientific knowledge. This article seeks to understand the current state of the field of special collections library administration in the United States. Using a dataset gathered through publicly available information about special collections directors from the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), Independent Research Libraries Association (IRLA), and the Oberlin Group institutional members, the authors explore the educational backgrounds of directors, the types of positions they held prior to taking on their current roles, and the effect of gender on leadership advancement. The Michigan State University Libraries (MSUL) digital repository contains numerous collections of openly available material. Since 2016, the digital repository has been using Faceted Application of Subject Terminology (FAST) subject headings as its primary subject vocabulary in order to streamline faceting, display, and search. The MSUL FAST use case presents some challenges that are not addressed by existing MARC-focused FAST tools. This paper will outline the MSUL digital repository team's justification for including FAST headings in the digital repository as well as workflows for adding FAST headings to Metadata Object Description Schema (MODS) metadata, their maintenance, and utilization for discovery. This article provides a retrospective overview of the discussion of Arnold Dolmetsch, his family, students and friends in Early Music since its first issue in 1973. It connects these cases with a broad range of other literature, suggests the need to rethink and recontextualize the lifetime of Arnold Dolmetsch and considers the significance of archival materials in the Jeanne-Marie Dolmetsch Collection newly available at Cambridge University Library (Ms. Add. 10371). In particular, it demonstrates the largely overlooked intercultural dimension of the Dolmetsch family's contribution to the early music revival, highlighting their interactions with people and music cultures from beyond western Europe.
