According to the stages of development, this period is ideal for the millennial generation to build a household. More millennials are deciding to postpone marriage. This study aims to examine working women of the millennial generation who decide to get married. This research used an emergent mixed-method sequential explanatory design. The emergent mixed method is a mixed-method research design that was not decided at the outset. Researchers first conducted quantitative research. Qualitative research was carried out because there were significant findings for further exploration in the quantitative phase. Participants in Study 1 consisted of 123 working mothers, while five working mothers became participants in Study 2. The participants were working wives from the millennial generation undergoing the first 10 years of marriage. The findings of Study 2 were inconsistent with the findings of Study 1, or discordance occurred. Findings from Study 2 were different from the findings obtained in Western countries. Participants used religious values as a guide to maintaining the integrity and longevity of the marriage. Abstract Background Parents play a key role in infant’s development through their interactions and the type of environment they provide to promote active play. The amount of time parents are able to spend with their infant is dependent on their working status, yet few studies have explored parent perception of their infant’s active play by working status. The purpose of this study was to explore parent perception of active play and compare responses between working and stay-at-home parents. Methods Twenty-nine parents participated in this qualitative study by completing a one-time, in-person semi-structured interview based on the Theory of Planned Behavior. Themes were developed and compared based on parental working status using a directed content analysis approach. Results All parents believed active play could have a positive effect on their child’s development through physical, social and emotional, cognitive, and/or language and communication development. However, stay-at-home parents reported a broader impact of active play across these domains; whereas working parents most often referenced active play as impacting infant’s physical development. Social and emotional interactions were the highest reported form of active play among all parents. Additionally, all parents described similar barriers to increasing the time for active play. The most commonly reported barrier for all parents was time or schedule followed by care needs of the infant, environmental concerns, and need for restrictive devices (e.g., car seats). More stay-at-home parents than working parents reported the care needs of the infant as being a barrier. Recommendations for active play were not widely known amongst all parents, with a higher percentage of working parents reporting they would desire advice from a healthcare provider. Conclusions Working status of parents appears to have implications on perceptions of active play which in turn may influence infants’ development. Future studies should objectively assess the impact of parents’ working status on infant development and explore how gender of the parent may serve as a confounding variable.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the postfeminist ideal of "having it all" became more contradictory, as women struggled to juggle work and childcare. This research, using critical discourse analysis, examines how lifestyle and explanatory journalism made sense of this problematic ideal as it became evidently untenable during the pandemic. Here, journalism operates as a discursive structure, obscuring its own complicity in sustaining postfeminist and neoliberal relations around the expectations that surround working mothers. Introduction: The benefits of exclusive breast feeding are well-documented; however, in Indonesia, breast feeding rates fall well below global recommendations. One of the factors contributing to the low breast-feeding rates is the economic need for many mothers to work and workplaces not providing an adequate environment in which to do so. The aim of the research was to explore the meaning of breastfeeding self-efficacy from the working mothers’ perspective. Methods: The methodology is phenomenology; hence, it is qualitative in nature. The study was conducted in an outpatient’s department in a hospital in Surabaya, Indonesia. Participants: 8 working mothers working outside the home 40 hours a week, attend lactation class, Indonesian, children ages 7 months to 2 years, and baby born healthy. Results: There were six main themes identified in the women’s stories that related to self-efficacy and breastfeeding: 1) the source of breastfeeding self-efficacy, 2) the benefits of breastfeeding, 3) another woman's experience, 4) perception of workplace control, 5) estimated ability of self-confidence, and 6) decision of breastfeeding. The participants who decided to breastfeed for at least two years tended to think positively about breastfeeding. Conclusion: The women had realistic expectations of the commitment that breastfeeding entailed even though they were faced with many workplace obstacles.

Background: Mothers who work as nurses are one of the vulnerable groups and are at risk of imbalance of roles in work and family due to multiple roles. The dual role requires working mothers to carry out their duties as mothers and wives at home, while at work can carry out duties as nurses. This is a stressor for mothers who work as nurses in adapting to their roles. This condition can reduce family well-being by decreasing the relationship of family structure, the ability of the role and function of the mother in the family, and the ability to prevent family vulnerability. Interventions that can be carried out to improve the family well-being are Mindfulness STOP (Stop, Take a Breath, Observed, Proceed). Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of mindfulness on family well-being in mothers who work as nurses at X Hospital Semarang. Method: The design of this study was a quasi-experiment pre-post test with a control group, involving 52 respondents obtained by purposive sampling technique based on the results of inclusion criteria screening, consisting of 26 respondents in the intervention group (given Mindfulness exercises) and 26 respondents in the control group (without treatment). Mindfulness STOP is given for 4 sessions totaling 4 meetings in 1 month. Data analysis used Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. Results: The results of this study are mindfulness effect on improving family well-being in the intervention group of mothers who work as nurses with a p-value of 0.000. Conclusion: The conclusion of this research is mindfulness can improve family well-being in mothers who work as nurses. Mindfulness is recommended as an intervention to improve employee well-being, especially in carrying out roles in the family and as a basis for further research

In many countries, the rate of women's participation in labor keeps increasing from time to time because of their educational level and economic condition. This condition leads to some changes concerning the gender roles in a family. However, it does not change the division of household tasks between husband and wife. Women are still considered responsible for doing most of the household tasks. This topic is often presented as the central theme in some literary works, particularly novels. This research examines three different novels, Opening Belle, I Don't Know How She Does It, and The Balance Project, by analyzing the inequality in dividing household tasks faced by the working mothers in the novels. This research uses a qualitative method consisting of description, reduction, and selection stages. The analysis results show that the working mothers still do most household tasks, while their husbands do not help them much. Although they can pay someone to help them do the tasks, however, the help is not as good as expected. They still have to struggle in combining household tasks and work, which eventually makes them feel exhausted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Balancing work-life and routines of daily life gets complex when a child is chronically ill. Aim: This study aimed to examine the QOL of working and non-working mothers caring for children with a chronic illness in Jordan and determine predictors of QOL of working mothers. Design: Descriptive comparative cross-sectional design. Method: Data from 164 mothers who cared for a child with a chronic disease were collected. The World Health Organization Quality of Life – BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) was used to collect the data on physical, psychological, social relationships, and environment domains. Results: The quality of life of working mothers was significantly lower than those of non-working mothers on all domains of WHOQOL-BREF. Mother's working status, monthly income, evaluation of their own health explained 41% of the variance. Social, family and employer support may help them overcome the challenges of caring for a child with a chronic illness and maintain good QOL.

Background: The role of mental health is crucial in maintaining the dynamism and productivity of any given society. In contemporary times, a significant proportion of the workforce is comprised of women and mothers. Working in healthcare facilities, where exposure to pathogenic agents is an everyday nuisance, can have detrimental effects on mothers' stress and anxiety levels. Furthermore, such exposure can also endanger the health of both the family and society. Conversely, the employment of mothers could positively impact their social well-being. The primary objective of this study is to assess and compare the stress, anxiety, and social well-being scores of mothers employed in healthcare facilities and stay-at-home mothers during the COVID pandemic., Materials and Methods: This study is a cross-sectional analysis of 246 mothers, equally divided into two groups: Mothers who work in health centers and stay-at-home mothers (123 individuals in each group). The study was conducted from 2021 to 2022, a multistage sampling method was utilized and two questionnaires were administered: The DASS 21 (21 questions) and the social well-being questionnaire (48 questions). The data were analyzed using SPSS 18, and descriptive and analytical tests (Independent Samples T-Test, Mann-Whitney) were employed., Results: The mean age was 35.7 ± 7.1 for working mothers and 34.3 ± 6.3 for stay-at-home mothers. The average stress score for employed mothers was 5.72 ± 4.7, and for stay-at-home mothers, it was 7.16 ± 4.3, which indicates a statistically significant difference in stress levels between the two groups ( P = 0.04). However, the two groups had no significant difference in the mean anxiety score ( P = 0.08). The mean score for social well-being was 165.5 ± 18.4 for working mothers and 162.17 ± 21.2 for stay-at-home mothers. This difference was not statistically significant ( P = 0.18). Except for the social acceptance dimension ( P = 0.003), no statistically significant differences were observed in the social well-being dimension between the two groups., Conclusion: The social acceptance of working mothers appears to be greater than that of stay-at-home mothers. Employment of mothers can have different consequences and effects on their children. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of Iranian mothers' employment on their children's mental health. This study was a systematic review and 4 international electronic databases- Scopus ،Science direct, PubMed, & google scholar and 4 domestic databases- Magiran, Ensani, Noormags, & SID during 2000-2020 were searched using a comprehensive search strategy with determinesd keywords. As a result of this search, 261 articles retrieved. According to a PRISMA method and use of an inclusion and exclusion criteria, 11 research papers were selected to entry of the research. The findings of the research were mixed. Some findings suggest that maternal employment increases the development of externalized and internalized disorders in children and weakens the parent-child relationship. On the other hand, some findings have shown that maternal a comprehensive model of the impact of mother's employment on Iranian children's employment has a positive effect on the child's mental health. Also, some studies have not reported a difference in the mental health of children with working and non-working mothers. Given the different and mixed results of research, it seems that many factors besides mother's employment affect children's mental health that without considering them in the analysis, we can not provide mental health. So, it could be concluded that the mediating role of some variables including mother’s satisfaction with her job, job schedule of mother, the stress level of mothers in work place, the age of the child, father’s participation in parenting, etc. that can be investigated in future research. Considering the unique challenges that women experience following childbirth, we examined the impact of working from home (WFH) on their post-delivery organizational commitment. Drawing on the norm of reciprocity, we hypothesized a direct relationship between WFH and organizational commitment, and indirect relationships through the mediating roles of occupational stress and job satisfaction. Results showed that WFH positively impacts a working mother's post-delivery continuous and value commitment to the organization. Job satisfaction was found to mediate the relationship between WFH and continuous and value commitment, while occupational stress mediated the relationship between WFH and value commitment. The recent reform of child care policy is to give priority to double-income households in the use of childcare facilities. This study analyzed the effect of the use of childcare facilities on the employment of married women under the on-going reform. Using the data from the 19th and 21st wave of the Korean Labor and Income Study, the marginal treatment effect (MTE) analysis method was used to eliminate the selection bias in which the sub-population targeted for policy is determined according to the priority when childcare demand exceeds supply. The study finds that the employment effect of married women who use childcare facilities does not differ statistically from the employment effect of married women who do not use childcare facilities. Objective: Mothers returning to work can be an obstacle to breastfeeding. In this study, the socio-demographic characteristics of the mothers and families who returned to work in the first year after birth were investigated and it was aimed to determine the effect of the timing of mothers’ re-employment on breastfeeding. Material and Methods: The study is a cross-sectional study, with retrospective cohort features for evaluation of some data. It was conducted at Bakırköy Dr. Sadi Konuk Research and Training Hospital, Well-Child Clinic. Results: There was no statistically significant difference between the mothers who started to work in the first year after birth and those who did not in terms of breastfeeding. Mothers who started to work before sixth months have higher rates of cessation of breastfeeding in the first year than mothers who started to work after 6th month. The ratio of breastfeeding up to 1 year of age in the second child was found to be higher than that of the first child. Mothers working in public sector were found to have higher rates of return to work in the first year after birth compared to those working in the private sector. Conclusion: It has been demonstrated that mothers returning to work in the first year after birth have similar breastfeeding continuity as non-working mothers. Mothers who returned to work within the first 6 months after birth were found to have shorter breastfeeding period. Early starting to work in the first 6 months after birth seems to be serious risk on lengthy breastfeeding. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the present study we aimed to investigate the role of social support, particularly emotional support, on work-family conflict (WFC) and employment-related guilt among employed mothers. Achieving an optimal work-family balance is difficult, especially for employed mothers with young children. Previous research has found support to be a key factor in helping to alleviate conflict. However, determining which types of support are most beneficial is an important issue to be investigated. Using path analysis, we examined the effect of three sources of social support—emotional spousal support, emotional supervisory support, and instrumental spousal support—on WFC and employment-related guilt. Voluntary domestic support, paid domestic support, and number of children were control variables. Data were collected from 201 employed Turkish mothers who have at least one child below the age of 10. Participants were between 25 and 47 years-old (M = 33.6, SD = 4.4). Spousal and supervisory emotional support were significant predictors of WFC for employed mothers. Moreover, supervisory support was a significant predictor of employment-related guilt. Objectives: Existing studies of fathers' involvement in childcare have focused on its impact on children's psychosocial development and the facilitation of family functions, like marital relationships. In this study, we investigated the factors that determine paternal childcare in Japan, particularly focusing on work-related hours and environment, separately, according to mothers' employment status., Methods: We used data from the Longitudinal Survey of Newborns in the 21st Century (2010 cohort) conducted in Japan. We restricted the sample to 27 783 participants with working fathers and analyzed how paternal work-related factors affect fathers' childcare involvement by mothers' employment status using an ordered logistic regression model., Results: In the model adjusting for all covariates, the odds ratio (OR) of spending less time with children on weekdays was higher: for fathers who worked 50 and more hours per week compared with those who worked 40-49 hours per week (OR = 1.95, 95% CI: 1.72-2.20 for 50-59 hours), for fathers whose commuting hours were longer than those commuting less than 0.5 hours per day (OR = 2.93, 95% CI: 2.34-3.69 for 1.5 or more hours), for larger workplace employee sizes than for 5-99 employee sizes (OR = 1.56, 95% CI: 1.38-1.77 for 500 or more employees). The associations between these paternal work-related variables and paternal hours spent with the children on weekdays were almost the same if the mothers were working or not working., Conclusions: Regardless of whether the mother is working, fathers' work environment factors, such as working hours, play a key role in their involvement in childcare., (© The Author(s) [2024]. Introduction: Working mothers can influence the nutritional status of their children. Nutritional status is a condition that is influenced by the intake of nutrients in food needed by the body. Nutritional status is very important for the process of growth and development in children. The nutritional status of a toddler is influenced by several factors such as parenting. Method: The research design used an analytical observation with a cross-sectional approach. Samples were taken using a simple random sampling technique obtained as many as 40 respondents in the mother group, where they all worked as shellfish peelers. The instruments of this study were the Feeding Pattern questionnaire and Nutrition Status assessment using the Anthropometry observation sheet. The data was analysed using the Spearman Rho test. Results: The results showed that there was a relationship between feeding, the parent working as a shellfish peeler and the nutritional status of the child. The Spearman Rho test results were ρ = 0,000 (ρ <0.05). Discussion: The implication of this research is that there is a relationship between the parenting style of the mother working as a shellfish peeler on the nutritional status of the toddler. It is expected that the research respondents can improve the provision of feeding by paying attention to the nutritional needs of their toddlers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The research aims at identifying the family and organizational obstacles facing the working mother in the governmental sector, and disclose the appropriate methods to confront them. The researchutilized the social survey method, and applied to a sample of (360) female teachers in the government high schools for girls in Jeddah, and the questionnaire was adopted as a data collection tool,The results indicated that one of the most important family obstacles that limit the professional performance of working mothers in governmental schools is the need to leave children in unsafe conditions, and that the most prominent organizational obstacles that limit the professional performance of working mothers in governmental schools is the lack of nursery rooms in school buildings, The most important proposals to overcome family obstacles is to sensitize couples to human rights, and for the most important proposals for organizational obstacles is to provide special nursery for the children of female employees at the workplace. The dominant approach on the social construction of motherhood is the cult of domesticity that limits the lives of women to the private sphere. This ideology has been synthesized by different ideologies and transformed into an ideology of intensive motherhood. The fact that the employment rates of mothers with children aged 0-14 years doubled by the OECD average in the last fifty years is an indicator of the transformation of the intensive motherhood ideology that advocates full-time motherhood, as well. In this study, this transformation was evaluated by examining the ideologies effecting the construction of motherhood and OECD data. Evidences show that the basis of aforementioned transformation is the legal arrangements that allow the harmonization of working life with motherhood and the expansion of childcare services. The evaluation results indicate that the intensive ideology of motherhood that influenced many societies in the past years was eroded and developed towards a new balance of motherhood and working life. Objective: To assess the level of knowledge and to explore out the perceptions of expecting and lactating women about Exclusive breastfeeding attending Ayub Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad. Study Design: A Mixed Method Study. Place and Duration of Study: Ayub Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad, from Jul 2018 to Dec 2018. Material and Methods: The study was carried out by using non-probability convenience sampling on 354 women who visited Gynaecology and Obstetrics department of Ayub Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad. Quantitative data was collected by using a semi structured questionnaire developed with the help of literature review whereas the qualitative data was collected by using a qualitative interview guide. Frequencies and percentages were computed and chi-square was used to find associations between socio-demographic status of women and their knowledge and perceptions about exclusive breastfeeding. In-depth interviews were conducted to explore the perceptions of women about exclusive breastfeeding. Age, Education, Area of residence, Family income and Parity are Independent variables while Knowledge and Perceptions about exclusive breastfeeding are the dependent variables. Results: The ages of respondent women ranged from <20 years to 50 years with the majority belonging to the 31–40 years age group (46%, n=165). Most (63%, n=225) of the children‟s age was 0 – 6 months, Majority (41%, n=145) of the women‟s qualification was matriculation. Majority (68%, n=244) of the women were multiparous and more than a half were unemployed (62%, n=222). Also the major portion of sample belonged to the rural areas. The sample predominantly belonged to middle and low-income group with a moderate level of education. Only 35% (n=124) of the women had good knowledge about the feed of a newborn up to 6 months of age. More than half (56%, n=200) of the women think that Ghutti is the best way to start feeding a newborn. About 48% (n=171) of the respondent women were able to define exclusive breastfeeding correctly. Conclusion: There is need for large scale health enlightenment of members of the public on EBF and its benefits to the infant, mother and society at large. The content of antenatal health talks with respect to EBF and it understanding by women requires evaluation. There is also the need for periodic refresher training of community health workers on the practice of EBF and strategies introduced for regular monitoring and evaluation of the practice. The figure of the astronaut mother in sf represents a site of confluence between the seemingly incompatible cultural ideals and archetypes of the astronaut and the mother. These two identities are perceived to exist on opposite ends of the continuum between traditional binary conceptions of science and nature, masculinity and femininity, rationality and irrationality, detachment and attachment, technology and biology, and of course – space and the Earth. Contemporary sf stories struggle to merge these identities without breaking the mother in the process of making her an astronaut. In order to explore the complexities of the astronaut-mother figure, this article provides a close reading of four female astronaut characters in sf whose motherhood stories are constructed in strikingly similar ways: Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) in James Cameron's special edition of Aliens (1992), Dr Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) in Alfonso Cuarón's Gravity (2013), Dr Molly Woods (Halle Berry) in the television series Extant (2014–15) and Ava Hamilton (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) in The Cloverfield Paradox (2018). Each of these narratives features a female protagonist who goes to space, whose job is the impetus for her space journey, and whose backstory features a dead child. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective To assess and compare knowledge, attitude, and prac- tice of underfive children stimulation of working and nonworking mothers and to determine the correlation between knowledge, at- titude, practice of stimulation and mothers’ ages, educational level, number of children, and number of underfive children. Methods A cross-sectional study was performed in PT. Indofood Sukses Makmur, Tanjung Morawa, Medan from October 2002 un- til November 2002. Respondents were female workers having underfive children assigned as working mothers and wives of male workers (with similar inclusion criteria) assigned as nonworking mothers. Selected respondents were interviewed using a struc- tured questionnaire. Sample size for each group was 58. Knowl- edge, attitude, and practice of stimulation were classified as good, less, and poor. Results There were 131 mothers interviewed. There were no sig- nificant differences in the ages, educational level, number of chil- dren, and number of underfive children. Good knowledge of stimu- lation of the working and nonworking mothers were 64.6% and 97%, respectively; good attitude toward stimulation were 95.4% and 27.3%, respectively, while good practice of stimulation were 58.5% and 22.7%, respectively. These differences were statisti- cally significant. Conclusion There were significant differences in knowledge, atti- tude, and practice of underfive children stimulation between work- ing and nonworking mothers. The knowledge of stimulation of the working mothers was worse than that of the nonworking mothers and the attitude and practice of the working mothers were better than those of the nonworking mothers

Islam is a perfect religion. A religion which is always honor a woman. In Islam there is no prohibition of a woman to work for a living, as long as follow the terms and conditions according to Islam. Ustad Felix Siauw once twote some statement which was associated with working mothers in his Twitter on 28 May 2013. The amount of the tweet is 25, but the spotlight later evolved into the conversation is tweet #22. It became viral since a working mother wrote an open letter to comment the tweet #22 . This article discusses the phenomenon of public response from various backgrounds and religions to the #22 tweet, and also comments and reasons of ustad Felix Siauw write that tweet.

This paper rethinks geographical approaches to children's play in the Global North. One narrowly conceived strand of past research considered the erosion of outdoor free play, but overlooked children's views of alternative play environments (e.g., out‐of‐school activities). A separate thread examined the feminisation of employment and growth in childcare, but investigations into children's play in care‐based environments are rare, and explorations of their ability to balance different play landscapes are lacking. This paper builds on insights from both lines of research, and challenges their deficiencies, to map out a more broadly conceived geography of play. Drawing on rigorous quantitative and qualitative research with middle‐ and working‐class parents and children, the paper examines the socially differentiated reconciliation of neighbourhood, extra‐curricular and care‐based play in contemporary British childhoods. The analysis highlights stark class differences in the balance between these play environments. Middle‐class children's elective engagement in extra‐curricular activities results in reduced outdoor free play, but they have little control over the total time they play in care environments. Working‐class children have greater experience of playing out, but are underscheduled as they have less than desired access to play in structured activities and wraparound care. In conclusion, the paper argues that geographers must: (1) move beyond the romanticisation of free play and recognise children's right to participate in a diversity of playful spaces; (2) embrace an intergenerational approach which recognises that play is not a matter for children alone – adults can facilitate as well as limit play, but reliance on women's unpaid labour makes play a feminist issue; and (3) uncover play's role in social reproduction as wider inequalities emerge in, and are reproduced through, children's landscapes of play in times of austerity, whether as here in terms of class, or along other axes of social differentiation or location. Exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) is very crucial for the health of infant as well as mother. However, the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding is very low especially among working mother. Since the prevalence of EBF might be influenced by the level of knowledge on EBF, researcher comes to critical thinking to conduct this study to evaluate level of knowledge on EBF among working mother. A cross sectional design study was carried out to determine knowledge level on exclusive breastfeeding among working mother, and its relationship with demographic data in Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM). A total 283 respondents were recruited to participate in this study. The respondents' knowledge level on exclusive breastfeeding was identified using Kim & Chapman (2013) Questionnaire on Knowledge and Practice about Exclusive Breastfeeding. The result showed that majority of the respondents (56.9%) had high knowledge on exclusive breastfeeding. For demographic data, factors such as age, level of education, and family income had shown a significant association (p < 0.05) with level of knowledge on exclusive breastfeeding. In conclusion, the level of knowledge of EBF was identified among working mother, yet it has been influenced by mother's sociodemographic background. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed to analyze the influence of adolescent characteristics and family characteristics on mother-adolescent interactions and analyzing the influence of adolescent characteristics, family characteristics, and mother-adolescent interactions on adolescent emotional intelligence in adolescent with working mother. This research was conducted in Ciampea, Bogor Regency that chosen purposively with consideration as rural area and location of home industry. The design of this research is cross-sectional study. Samples are adolescents with working mothers, from four selected junior high schools. Total samples were 160, consist of 80 mothers and adolescents that selected purposively. In the first regression model, it was found that effortful control (dimension of adolescent temperament) has a significant positive effect on mother-adolescent interaction. Meanwhile, negative affectivity (dimension of adolescent temperament) has a significant negative effect on mother-adolescent interaction. Furthermore, in the second regression model found that mother-adolescent interaction (adolescent version) has a significant positive effect on adolescent emotional intelligence.
