Urban form and neighborhood design played a crucial role in shaping the physical landscape of cities and municipalities. This paper focusedonthe improvement of urban form and neighborhood design that enhanced the accessibility and sustainability of government services, ultimately contributed to the development of a modern and smarter city or municipality. The study centered on the municipality of Tuba in Benguet, characterized as a peri-urban area nestled within the mountainous topography of Cordillera. The community faces challenges in accessing government centers due to its periphery being intersected by three major road thoroughfares. With the objectives of identifying barriers among the community in accessing different government services and finding appropriate approach to enhance the said barriers. This study addressed these issues and provided a more intelligent and accessible government, a qualitative approach was employed. This involved group discussions and personal interviews that identified community problems. This research identified the Multi-Nodal Urban Form outlined in the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) of Tuba and this urban form was integrated into a modernization program which incorporated Information and Communication Technology (ICT) concepts through 15-minutes city approach. The program focused on the development of a One-Stop-Shop service, strategically establish in the identified growth nodes of the municipality. The Four urban barangays--Población, Tadiangan, Camp 3, and Camp 4--were identified as Major Growth Centers in accordance with the CLUP and Philippine Statistics Authority data. These growth centers exhibited diverse economic modes capable of sustaining the identified nodes. A centralized ICT-equipped One-Stop-Shop Government Service Facility was established to servethese growth centers, fostering accessibility and efficiency in government services throughout the municipality sustaining 15-minutes city approach in its development. This study examines the socio-spatial transformations of Djelfa, Algeria in the contexts of its urbanization from 1990 to 2024, focusing on the transition from extended to nuclear family structures and from monocentric to polycentric urban forms. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, including interviews, questionnaires, observations, and data analysis with 200 participants, the research outlines the adaptation of housing and urban space to meet the needs of Djelfa's growing population. Key findings highlight a dramatic demographic shift marked by a 75.6% increase in population, a reduction in average household size from 6.3 to 4.1, and a 150% surge in the number of households. This demographic expansion has spurred extensive urban expansion, effectively doubling the built-up area and necessitating the development of sub-centres of the city to mitigate pressure on the primary city center (CC). This evolution underscores Djelfa's progression towards a polycentric urban model, reflecting broader urban space decentralization and diversification trends to improve accessibility and reduce congestion. The study contributes to the understanding of complex effects that urbanization has on social and spatial structures in the Global South, highlighting the critical interplay between demographic shifts, urban planning, and social restructuring. Advocating for strategic, inclusive urban planning and policymaking, the research underscores the importance of addressing the diverse needs of rapidly urbanizing populations, offering invaluable insights into sustainable urban management practices applicable to similar urban scenarios worldwide. The emergence of autonomous vehicles (AVs) is expected to significantly reshape urban mobility and travel behavior patterns. AVs have the potential to offer higher levels of convenience, safety, and accessibility while enabling users to spend their trip time on more efficient and productive tasks such as working or even relaxing. This transformation in the short- to mid-term could result in changes in the public's sensitivity and perception toward enduring longer travel times and consequently, in mid- to long-term, it could influence the willingness to reconsider their residential locations. Therefore, the objective of this study is to enhance the understanding of the potential effects of AVs on travel behavior and land use through the examination of stated preference queries. To achieve this objective, various multinomial logit models toward AVs adoption and residential relocation were estimated by employing a dataset from Istanbul, Türkiye, as an example of megacity in a developing country. While the study findings revealed a set of potential adoption barriers for AVs, they also indicated a notable propensity for adopting these vehicles. Furthermore, concerning individuals' willingness to reconsider their residential locations due to the emergence of AVs, a considerable positive attitude was evident, albeit guarded. This attitude suggests that individuals' decisions are still evolving and can be guided toward the desired future through well-timed and well-suited policies. The outcomes of the study can serve as valuable input for policymakers as well as transportation and urban planners, offering insights into the potential impacts of AVs on urban mobility and form. Often urban compactness indexes ignore the variegated intensity of urban development in their focus on the configuration. In this article, I propose an extension to the index of moment of inertia (IMI) as a compactness measure that can account for multiple ordinal classes representing development intensity. I demonstrate this index for developed areas for each county in the contiguous United States. These counties have a range of development configurations and intensity compositions. I show that for this data set, ignoring the multiple class composition and only focusing on the configuration overestimates the urban compactness in almost all instances. The Kowloon Peninsula, an urban area of Hong Kong, might be one of the most studied cities in terms of urban climate in the world. Both annual mean urban air temperature and humidity have been on the rise following the continual increase in the building volume and continual reduction in the average wind speed in the urban canopy layer. The observed urban warming and humidifying phenomena are a direct result of the city form (i.e., the city shape and size), including the building height and density. The Urban Heat Island phenomenon (UHI), characterized by elevated temperatures in urban areas compared to their rural surroundings, is highly exacerbated by urbanization and climate change. Understanding the complex relationship between UHI effect and urban form is crucial for effective urban planning and climate mitigation strategies. This paper examines the multifaceted connection between UHIs and urban forms, exploring various methods used to study this relationship. Through a review of the existing literature, we analyze the influence of various urban characteristics on the intensity and spatial distribution of UHIs. Furthermore, we discuss the key methods and technologies, such as remote sensing and modeling, used in advancing our understanding of UHI–urban form interactions. This study then delves into the literature on UHIs within the specific context of Morocco, identifying research gaps and emphasizing the need for more comprehensive research to address them. By translating study findings into actionable urban solutions, this paper suggests contextual mitigation strategies based on the research outcomes. Finally, by synthesizing current research findings and methodologies, this paper seeks to provide insights into the complexities of UHI dynamics and their implications for climate resilience, highlighting the potential of research for forging sustainable and climate-conscious planning strategies in Morocco and across the broader MENA region. With an increasingly urbanized world, there is an urgent need to examine how cities may evolve and achieve sustainability. This paper systematically looks at the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and the Poyang Lake Region (PLR) in China to examine the spatial processes for insights into cities and urbanization, balancing the environmental and socio‐economic dimensions. A total of 226 805 cells are analyzed to unveil the relationship between sustainability changes in 2015–2019 period and urban form indicators, considering sociodemographic variables, geographical features, and city size as control variables. Two tree‐based machine learning models (Random Forest and XGBoost) are developed. This study provides evidence that a monocentric urban form and a high share of small activity clusters are not good for sustainability. For each urban form indicator, there is a non‐linear relationship with sustainability. The results of the machine learning models reconfirm the sustainability benefits of having a strong second activity cluster comparable to the largest one. When planning cities, some forms of land use buffering are desirable. There is also support for developing relatively large activity nodes and promoting compactness in urban form. Modern economies are characterised by increasing globalisation, e-commerce, and a growing number of logistics facilities. Despite insightful research on the changing locational patterns of logistics facilities epitomised by logistics sprawl, there is a lack of literature analysing changes in the urban form of areas that accommodate warehousing clusters. The paper, therefore, aims to analyse changes in the urban form of zones that accommodate warehousing clusters in the City of Cape Town municipality. The study was based on three main types of secondary data: georeferenced 1:50 000 topographical maps from 1942 to 2010, current and historical spatial planning policy applicable to the City of Cape Town, and historical literature on the spatial economic characteristics of the zones that accommodate warehousing clusters. The topographical maps were loaded onto ArcGIS 3.10, after which large buildings were traced to ascertain changes in the urban form of the warehousing cluster areas over the respective decades. The study found that changes in the urban form of the contemporary warehousing cluster areas were linked to the growth of industrial zones and the transport infrastructure. However, the spatial policy for the time under consideration, although cementing the growth of industrial zones in the municipality, did not explicitly consider the placement of warehousing facilities. In light of the findings, the City of Cape Town municipality is urged to anticipate and plan for the growth of warehousing relative to the industrial zones and transport infrastructure. To ensure efficient and sustainable land utilisation, derelict industrial buildings in accessible areas could be redeveloped to accommodate warehousing facilities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Despite the increasing number of flood studies, the interrelationships between urban form indices (UFIs) and flood resilience (FR) have received little attention and hold miscellaneous perspectives. Consequentially, this study identifies how UFIs at various spatial scales affect FR by synthesizing article findings and proposing insights for future research. Scientometric analysis has been used to analyze the gathered peer-reviewed articles from nine research engines without time restrictions. One hundred and eighteen relevant articles were included and thoroughly investigated using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol. Our findings indicate that divergent and dialectical perspectives about the efficacy of UFIs are due to multiple disciplines, methodologies, and different case study contexts. The included studies were classified according to urban scale as macro (citywide), meso (districts), micro (block), and multi-scalar analysis by 80.5%, 6.8%, 10.2%, and 2.4%, respectively. Furthermore, the included studies were categorized based on analysis type into realistic case studies, literature reviews, modeling, and hybrid analysis, with 74.6%, 7.6%, 14.4%, and 3.4%, respectively. At the macroscale, city density and spatial distribution degree have the most significant effect on FR. At the same time, mixed uses, connectivity, coverage ratio, block arrangements, and street characteristics are on the meso and micro scales. Further studies on the trade-offs and commonality between UFIs, FR, and overall urban resilience are required to shape climate-adaptive, sustainable communities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: Analyzing urban form patterns and their differentiation from a multi-dimensional and large-scale perspective is the basis for studies of urban patterns, processes and effects, but the subject remains a great challenge. Methods: We construct a multi⁃dimensional characterization system of urban form by integrating urban physical space and social space perspectives, which include indices on land use, building distribution, transport network, population distribution and urban function distribution. We further propose a pattern identification method based on principal component analysis and clustering algorithm. Results: Taking 2 475 natural cities in China, the United States, and Europe as examples, we identify six major urban morphological patterns which include high-density (HD), high-aggregation with low-density (HALD), low-aggregation with low-density (LALD), multi-center with high-concentration (MCHC), multi-center with high-mixed (MCHM) and multi-center with low-mixed (MCLM). Chinese cities are mostly HD cities and MCHC cities, and the distribution of patterns has a significant difference between northwest and southeast areas. In the United States, there are mostly HALD cities, LALD cities and MCLM cities, while showing difference between east and west areas. The cities in Europe are mostly MCHM cities with a few other types of cities along the western and southern coastlines. Conclusions: Multi⁃dimensional characterization can classify cities into categories in a comprehensive, refined and reasonable way, and urban form patterns can provide support for cross-regional urban comparison studies, urban pattern and process effects, and urban simulation. It is proven a powerful tool to reduce carbon emissions by regulating urban land use structure. To leverage this tool, land-use carbon emission intensity (LUCEI) is the critical indicator to bridge carbon emissions effects of natural and human activities to land use structure. Current studies try to established the carbon emission allocation framework of "carbon emission inventory - land use category" and use it to estimate the LUCEI. However, none of the frameworks work at multiple spatial scales: the total carbon emissions and the land use category at different territorial levels do not conform with each other, impeding the synergetic effects of the low-carbon planning at different territorial levels. This study establishes a new framework of carbon emission estimation and allocation for the three territorial levels of municipality, city proper, and district and conducts a case study on Hinggan Prefecture. With the new framework, the carbon emission intensity of the entire land use category is being systematically differentiated, enabling the clarification of the linkages between LUCEI and the characteristics of energy structure, industrial structure, and urban forms of cities. The comparison of LUCEI of residential and transportation land between cities identifies the characteristics of urban form that are apt to high carbon emissions. The biggest contribution of the framework established in this study provides a technical tool to introduce carbon emission quantification into the territorial and spatial planning system. It may help deepen the understanding about the spatial pattern of carbon emissions and support a more refined estimation and comparison of the carbon effects of land use planning schemes. This study focuses on the streets and spatial networks of the historic urban area in Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, China, by mainly investigating the evolution of their geometric and topological characteristics. It draws on the theories and methods of urban morphology and space syntax, combines the digital historical maps at different times, and uses methods such as historical map spatial interpretation, geographic information system (GIS), sDNA tools, and urban morphological parameter analysis to explore and sort out the evolutionary process of the street and alley network in Changsha from the early modern period to the present. The paper constructs a parameter system for analyzing the street and alley network of historic urban areas from a geometric and topological perspective. It introduces the indicators of road density, road orientation, intersection density, and approaches such as closeness, betweenness, and intelligibility in space syntax into the parameter analysis framework of street and alley network morphology and spatial characteristics evolution. By comparing the changes in various parameters at different spatial scales, the process of the spatial order evolution of the street and alley network in the historic urban area is analyzed, and the evolutionary rules of the various periods' morphological characteristics are extracted. While the relationship between local housing prices and the urban form and distribution of urban functional zones in a single city is well-discussed, the conclusion is usually sensitive to a particular city context, and cross-city comparative study is limited. This study attempts to examine the influences of urban form and urban functional zone distribution on housing prices within and between cities after controlling the city-wide socio-economic and demographic differences. Based on multiple open-source big data, such as points-of-interest (POI) and historical housing transaction data, the hierarchical linear model is utilized to compare the housing market of 10 extra-large cities in China. Results indicate that the urban form and the urban functional zone distribution significantly influence housing prices after the socio-economic and demographic differences are controlled. For inter-city comparison, an urban form with high compactness, low centrality, low polycentricity, high density, and low dissimilarity in housing development is related to lower city-level housing prices. Considering resilience within the components of urban form can aid in the planning of disaster-prone cities and enable them to become more resilient. Although prior research has explored resilience and urban form, the aspects of urban form that can enhance natural disaster resilience remain relatively underexplored. Thus, this study aims to identify these aspects and explore research opportunities in the development of resilience concepts in urban form that have been previously studied by researchers. This study employs the systematic review method, which includes bibliometric analysis and a full-text review of the identified literature. The results show that plots, open spaces, buildings, and streets are the main variables in developing a resilient urban form. Additionally, the street network within the urban form is emphasized in emergency disaster planning. Most current research describes resilience in terms of the ability to withstand and adapt by restoring and operating systems as they were before the disaster occurred. Recommendations for future research include focusing on long-term resilience in urban form by implementing new operational methods in cities to achieve transformative adaptation. Another opportunity is to conduct research in locations with unique characteristics in developing countries, especially areas that have previously experienced significant natural disasters. Lasem City, a charming trading town nestled on the north coast of Central Java, Indonesia, is currently experiencing a surge in tourist popularity. This surge is attributed to the city's rich historical legacy, which adds an intriguing layer to the allure of this vibrant destination. To comprehend the distinctive attributes of this city, it is essential to conduct a morphological overview, delving into the formation and evolution of the urban landscape throughout history. The physical identity of the city shaped by geographical location, historical events, and local culture, serves as a conceptual framework for deciphering its unique character. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the impact of tourism on the morphology of Lasem, from the Hindu Majapahit era to the post-independence period in Indonesia. Exploring both positive and negative influences, the study meticulously obtained spatial and historical data through a combination of field observations, analysis of historical maps, and insightful interviews. The discernible growth pattern of tourism in Lasem was adeptly shown through content analysis and triangulation. The results showed a surge of tourism in post-independence Lasem, particularly gaining momentum after the 2000sl. Furthermore, an indelible mark on the city was left by the influx of Chinese cultural influences brought by immigrants establishing elite settlements. Economic dynamics further catalyzed a shift in land function, transforming former spaces into thriving commercial hubs. The dynamics of Lasem as a historic city experienced a profound transformation directly influenced by tourism. This elucidates a compelling interrelationship between the morphology of historic cities in Indonesia, the burgeoning tourism sector, and the nuanced field of heritage management. Morphological structures of urban streets in Baghdad have been deciphered by using practical methodologies inclusive of data collection, digitization, and identification processes. This paper uses street pattern morphological analysis in a typical Middle Eastern city, in this case, Baghdad, from organic configurations to modern metropolitan sprawl. It is based on historical maps and satellite images, supported by field surveys. Six distinct street patterns have been identified that have influenced the formation of Baghdad’s urban development and continuity, focusing attention on the ancient city configuration and current planning principles. Of great interest is the fact that there are calls for the retention of the urbanism historical fabric in the cities with new growth at the same time there are calls for methodologies that are responsive to the sociocultural energy characteristic of the cities in the Middle East. This study adds to the general body of literature on urban morphology and further provides detailed insight into the morphology of streets in Baghdad and other similar towns. The research, therefore, shows evidence of the need for recognizing street morphology roles in the form and function of urban landscapes and will advocate for environments reflective of historical context in line with the needs that modern urban life requires. Results will demonstrate how streets change based on influences from culture and socio-economic factors. They conclude that streets developed in the light of cumulative processes, directions, and scales of development. This research is taken up to comprehend urban morphology leading towards sustainable and culturally responsive designs.

Carbon emissions from transportation account for an increasing proportion of total carbon emissions, and daily travel carbon emissions are an essential part of carbon emissions from transportation. Urban form influences the transportation network layout, so the degree of influence of urban transportation development on daily travel carbon emissions varies according to urban form. This paper uses panel data from 254 prefecture-level cities in China from 2006 to 2019 to explore the impact of urban transportation development on daily travel carbon emissions based on the moderating effect of urban form. The results show that urban transportation development plays a pivotal role in significantly reducing daily travel carbon emissions. The urban form further amplifies the impact of carbon emission reductions. Specifically, polycentric urban structures enable residents to meet their daily travel needs through short-distance trips, thereby alleviating traffic congestion. The impact of urban transportation development on daily travel carbon emission intensity exhibits heterogeneity. In both low-carbon pilot cities and large cities, urban transportation development markedly decreases daily travel carbon emission intensity. Additionally, it is observed that cities with lower economic development levels exhibit more pronounced effects in carbon emission reduction compared to their more economically developed counterparts. This paper provides empirical support for rational planning of urban transportation systems and low-carbon development of daily travel.

The spatial configuration of urban areas impacts environmental sustainability, social equity, and economic and social resilience. This study examines the intricate relationship between spatial arrangements and the planning and design of BREEAM Outstanding projects in London, UK. It analyses the relationship between urban morphology and the effectiveness of sustainable building practices and contributes to the broader objectives of urban sustainability. This research focuses on London, UK—a city renowned for its complex urban fabric and architectural heterogeneity—using a multi-case study approach to dissect the elements that facilitate the development of BREEAM Outstanding projects. This study analyses key spatial characteristics such as land use diversity, subway network analysis, and street network analysis using betweenness centrality of edges and node degrees. These factors are considered due to their impact on energy performance, carbon emissions, and social sustainability metrics. Furthermore, this research explores how urban design strategies, such as enhanced walkability and mixed-use development, reinforce the success of BREEAM-certified Outstanding-rated projects. The findings of this investigation reveal a correlation between urban environments and the development of BREEAM Outstanding-rated projects in London. By aligning the spatial organisation of urban form with BREEAM principles, urban planners, policymakers, and architects can facilitate the creation of cities that are environmentally sustainable, socially inclusive, and economically prosperous. The research offers substantive insights and actionable recommendations for future urban development, advocating for a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to sustainable city planning and design. The spatial arrangement of urban form impacts the planning and design of BREEAM Outstanding projects. Findings from current and future research will be used to investigate the connections between spatial arrangement and various categories in BREEAM and how they can influence future sustainable urban environments to set a benchmark for sustainability for contributing to a more equitable urban future.

During the past two decades, Hue city has undergone significant changes in its economic development, leading to a rapid transformation of its land-use and land-cover (LULC) patterns. This study used remote sensing data and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyze changes in the land-use and land-cover in Hue city, providing essential insights for the city’s future development. This research examines indicators such as area and land-cover changes, urban development trends, and the morphology of urban areas during the period from 2000 to 2020, with assessments conducted at ten-year intervals. The results showed that built-up and forest land have increased, while agricultural and unused land have decreased over time. By 2020, the urban area had expanded by more than 60% in the north and northeast directions. Hue city developed through infilling and edge expansion of existing urban areas, while some regions primarily expanded into outlying sections in the east and south by constructing high-end residential areas on former paddy rice fields. These findings yield valuable policy implications that extend beyond the case study of Hue city, offering insights for other cities to pursue inclusive and prosperous futures.

This study adopts both quantitative and qualitative methods to analyse pedestrian movement along Istanbul’s Istiklal Street. The aim is to uncover the complex relationship between pedestrian dynamics and urban design elements, emphasizing spatial and temporal factors. The findings indicate that movement patterns are influenced by different sections of the street based on design, utility, and pedestrian attributes. The study identifies collective behavioural trends shaped by the physical environment, land use and interpersonal interactions. The research highlights the need for a comprehensive three-dimensional approach that is critical for guiding pedestrian-centred and human-scale urban design decisions, considering social-spatial, function-design, and quantitative-qualitative aspects. Exploring the factors that affect energy supply and demand is the basis of solving energy problems. And the influence of urban form has brought widespread concern. However, the complex role of urban form indicators is not clear, and the influence mechanism of urban form on overall energy consumption and energy supply capacity needs further discussion. This study analyzes the energy security situation of 11 districts in Nanjing from 1995 to 2017 and explores the effect of inter-index interaction of urban form on energy footprint and carrying capacity. The results show that the direct and indirect effects of water area and urban and rural areas on energy footprint are in opposite directions. Specifically, the urban area with good connectivity and a regular shape is conducive to alleviating the negative effect of the increase. Besides, the effect of the population density on carrying capacity was significant. Combined with the change of land resources, it implies the important role of reasonable land reclamation in improving the capacity to meet increasing demand. This research provides an abstract representation of neighborhoods, accounting for the actors involved in the process of their formation and transformation as local entities embedded in a complex yet specific configuration of historical, social, structural, and political contexts. The analysis uses a conceptual framework combining Assemblage Theory and Actor–Network Theory to examine how both human and non-human actors or agents interact and consequently exert an impact on three different neighborhoods in Limassol, Cyprus. The methodology combines both qualitative as well as quantitative approaches. The tools used include space syntax, land use, and building typology, descriptive statistics of social factors, a photographic survey, observation of the built environment's expressive features, and archival research of press articles. The findings reveal the extent to which global factors, such as colonialism and the mobility of wealthy populations from former Soviet countries, have an impact on the social makeup and expressive features of the environment, while local factors, such as block size and housing typology, have a strong impact on the use of public space. Examining the relationship between the built environment and older adults' walking behavior is of critical importance for the development of aging-friendly cities and communities. Previous studies, however, have paid limited attention to the non-linear and synergistic effects of built environment factors. To this end, based on multi-source data such as the Travel Characteristic Survey of Hong Kong and Google Street View imagery, this study integrates two advanced machine learning models—light gradient-boosting machine (LightGBM) and SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP)—to analyze the non-linear and synergistic effects of various built environment factors on older adults' walking time. The results show that the effect of the built environment is largely non-linear. Critical built environment factors include access to recreational facilities and land-use mix. Access to metro and parks, however, plays a marginal role in affecting older adults' walking. Urban areas and green spaces are significant atmospheric carbon sources and sinks. Spatial planning is crucial for improving the urban carbon budget. However, there are many uncertainties due to the diversity and complexity of the effects of urban and green space forms on the carbon budget. As a result, the role of urban areas and green spaces in emission reduction and carbon sink increases remains ambiguous. We use a landscape sustainability framework and systematically review the literature from 2002 to 2022 to elucidate the interaction between urban and green space forms and the carbon budget. We focus on regional and landscape scales. Nine landscape planning indicators affecting urban area carbon emissions, four indicators affecting green space carbon sinks, and three indicators affecting the urban–green space ecotonal relationship and the carbon budget are derived. We analyze the causes of the differences between the studies and discuss the influences of the indicators on emission reduction, carbon sink increases, and sustainable development. We summarize the design and research of urban and green spaces and the urban–green space ecotone and provide suggestions for carbon emission reduction, carbon sink increases, and research directions for future studies. Sweden had the most liberal lockdown policies in Europe during the Covid-19 pandemic. Relying on individual responsibility and behavioural nudges, their effectiveness was questioned from the perspective of others who responded with legal restrictions on behaviour. In this study, using mobile phone data, we therefore examine daily spatial mobilities in Stockholm to understand how they changed during the pandemic from their pre-pandemic baseline given this background. The analysis demonstrates: that mobilities did indeed change but with some variations according to (a) the residential social composition of places and (b) their locations within the city; that the changes were long lasting; and that the average fall in spatial mobility across the whole was not caused by everybody moving less but instead by more people joining the group of those who stayed close to home. It showed, furthermore, that there were seasonal differences in spatial behaviour as well as those associated with major religious or national festivals. The analysis indicates the value of mobile phone data for spatially fine-grained mobility research but also shows its weaknesses, namely the lack of personal information on important covariates such as age, gender, and education. Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has placed neighborhood parks as a key asset in mitigating the negative implications of extended lockdowns, when parks turned into a sanctuary for residents. With increased scholarly work focusing on developing pots-pandemic neighborhoods, providing access to community parks via efficient routes, is central to such debate. Network connectivity provides a comprehensive assessment of the efficiency of network systems. Methods: A total of 16 samples, from the city of Abu-Dhabi, have been selected to study their network connectivity, with regard to accessing parks. Three distance-based connectivity measures are used: the pedestrian route directness (PRD), the count of redundant routes Redundancy Count (RC), and the route redundancy index (RI). The samples reflect different street's typologies and their urban form attributes are quantified. Results and Discussion: Connectivity analyses results are interrupted with regard to the quantified physical attributes. Findings indicate that gridded, and semi- gridded layouts provide more direct routes to parks, but less route's redundancy. Conversely, interlocked, and fragmented networks, when having sufficient intersection densities, have less direct routes but more redundancy. The inclusion of alleyways proved to alter typologies into gridded ones and improve both route directness and redundancy. The majority of the selected samples reported sufficient levels of route directness. The current design and planning guidelines, implemented by the Department of Transport and Municipalities are overly descriptive with regard to how neighborhood parks are accessed; therefore, the study's methodology provides a possible more evidence-based approach to policy development.
