V diplomskem delu sem poskušal kvantitativno, s pomočjo absolutnih vrednosti in razmerij morfometričnih podatkov, opredeliti razlike med triasnimi in zgodnjejurskimi vrstami foraminifer rodu Trocholina ter na ta način podati čim bolj objektiven način razlikovanja med njimi. V ta namen sem uporabil statistične analize, ki so zajemale opisno statistiko, parametrično ter neparametrično Kruskal-Wallisovo analizo variance in t-test. V kvantitativne in statistične analize je bilo vključenih 329 primerkov, ki so predstavljali 17 vrst. S statističnimi analizami se med seboj ni dalo ločiti naslednjih vrst: T. acuta od T. cordevolica in T. gracilis T. conica od T. granosa, T. laevis, T. plagiostoma, T. umbo in T. verrucosa T. cordevolica od T. gracilis T. gracilis od T. turris, T. granosa od T. laevis, T. umbo in T. verrucosa ter T. laevis od T. verrucosa. Statistično neločljive vrste sem poskušal ločiti na podlagi opisov tipskih primerkov. Neločljive so ostale vrste T. conica od T. granosa ter T. plagiostoma in T. granosa od T. laevis in T. umbo, kar nakazuje na možno sinonimiko vrst. In my graduate thesis I tried to define the differences between Triassic and Early Jurassic species of foraminiferal genus Trocholina based on absolute values and ratios and present an objective way of distinguishing between them. For this purpose, different types of statistical analysis were used, which included descriptive statistics, parametric and nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis analysis of variance and t-test. Quantitative and statistical analyzes included 329 specimens representing 17 species. Based on statistical analyzes, some species could not be distinguished from each other. The following species could not be distinguished by statistical analysis: T. acuta from T. cordevolica and T. gracilis T. conica from T. granosa, T. laevis, T. plagiostoma, T. umbo and T. verrucosa T. cordevolica from T. gracilis T. gracilis from T. turris, T. granosa from T. laevis, T. umbo and T. verrucosa and T. laevis from T. verrucosa. I tried to distinguish statistically inseparable species on the basis of descriptions of type specimens. Almost all were distinguished except T. conica from T. granosa and T. plagiostoma and T. granosa from T. laevis and T. umbo, which is an indicator for possible synonymy.

U ovom diplomskom radu istražena su geomorfološka obilježja šireg područja Posušja. U radu su analizirani uvjeti oblikovanja reljefa te morfografska, morfometrijska i morfogenetska obilježja toga područja. U radu su korištene metode opće (hipsometrija, nagib padina, vertikalna raščlanjenost i ekspozicija padina) i specifične (analiza drenažne mreže, raspored i gustoća ponikava i generiranje drenažne mreže) morfometrije. Na istraživanom području zabilježeni su fluvijalni, krški, fluviodenudacijski i antropogeni morfogenetski tipovi reljefa. U radu su analizirana geološka i klimatološka obilježja istraživanog područja. Upotrebom GIS softvera, terenskim radom te geomorfološkom analizom i sintezom izrađene su karte koje daju uvid u geomorfološka obilježja šireg područja Posušja. Rezultati ovoga rada trebaju produbiti spoznaje o geomorfološkim obilježjima i evoluciji reljefa šireg područja Posušja. In this master thesis, the geomorphological features of the wider area of Posušje are investigated. The paper analyzes the conditions of relief formation and morphographic, morphogenetic and morphometric characteristics of the area. The methods of general (hypsometry, slope, vertical relief dissection and slope exposure) and specific (drainage network analysis, distribution and density of sinkholes and drainage network generating) morphometry were used. Fluvial, karst, fluviodenudative and anthropogenic relief types have been recorded in the study area.The paper analyzes the geological and climatological characteristics of investtigated area. Maps that provide insight into the geomorphogical features of the wider area of Posušje were created by using GIS software, through field work and with geomorphological analysis and synthesis. These maps were analyzed in the paper. The results of this paper should deepen the knowledge about the geomorphological features and the evolution of the relief of the wider Posušje area.

Velike urušne ponikve su zatvorene krške depresije koje se ističu među okolnim depresijama zbog svojih iznimnih dimenzija i strmih, stjenovitih padina te nastaju podrivanjem podzemnih tokova duž tektonski nestabilnih zona. Na temelju digitalnog modela reljefa rezolucije 5 × 5 m istražene su opće morfometrijske karakteristika reljefa Markovog polja u Lici i Imotskog polja te prostorna rasprostranjenost i karakteristike urušnih ponikvi na tim područjima. Cilj rada bio je odrediti odnose između morfometrijskih pokazatelja, litoloških i strukturnih značajki prostora te napraviti sintezu svih analiziranih podataka kako bi se razumio utjecaj reljefa i geološke građe na raspored velikih urušnih ponikva odabranih područja. Uočena je povezanost većih nagiba padina i veće vertikalne raščlanjenosti reljefa padina urušnih ponikava od okolnog reljefa. Iz odnosa volumena i površine ponikava mogu se podijeliti u tri grupe prema starosti; mlade, zrele i stare. Urušne se ponikve nalaze u rasjednim zonama, uz veće pukotine i na litološkim granicama. Large-volume collapse dolines are enclosed karst depressions that stand out among the surrounding depressions due to their exceptional dimensions and steep, rocky slopes, and are a result of undermining by subsurface flow along tectonically unstable zones. The general morphometric characteristics of the relief of Markovo polje in Lika and Imotski polje, as well as the spatial distribution and characteristics of collapse dolines in these areas were investigated using a 5 x 5 m resolution digital elevation model. Research aim of this thesis was to determine the relationship between morphometric parameters, lithological and structural characteristics of the area and to make a synthesis of all the analysed parameters in order to understand the influence of relief and geological structure on the distribution of large collapse dolines in the selected areas. The connection between steeper slopes and greater vertical relief dissection of the collapse doline slopes from the surrounding relief was observed. From the relation between volume and surface area, collapse dolines can be divided into three groups according to age; young, mature and old. Collapse dolines are located in fault zones, near larger cracks and lithological boundaries

Riječni galebovi su gnjezdarice, preletnice i zimovalice u Hrvatskoj. Brojniji su tijekom zime u Hrvatskoj, gdje ih se može vidjeti uz cijelu jadransku obalu, na vodenim površinama na kontinentu te na odlagalištima otpada. Nemaju spolni dimorfizam te se spolovi ne mogu vizualno raspoznati. Cilj je istraživanja dobiti uvid u vjernost području zimovanja riječnih galebova ulovljenih na odlagalištu otpada Prudinec. Analizirao sam pet različitih morfometrijskih funkcija za određivanje spola iz literature te sam u daljnjim analizama odabrao jednu koja je najviše odgovarala mom setu uzoraka izmjerenih riječnih galebova. Prikupio sam podatke o nalazima svih izmjerenih riječnih galebova u razdoblju od 2010. do 2021. godine te izdvojio nalaze iz zimskih mjeseci. Omjeri spolova tijekom zimskih mjeseci (od studenog do ožujka) ukazuju da se tijekom siječnja na području Zagreba nalazi relativno najveći broj ženki naspram mužjaka. Omjeri broja nalaza riječnih galebova u Zagrebu i ukupni broj nalaza tijekom zimskih mjeseci za sve spolne i starosne kategorije ukazuju da galebovi, koje sam prstenovao i izmjerio kao odrasle ženke, imaju tendenciju veće vjernosti zimovalištu u Zagrebu, nego sve ostale kategorije. Black-headed gulls are breeding, flyovers and wintering species in Croatia. They are most numerous in Croatia during winter, where they can be seen acrossthe Adriatic coast, on water bodies inland and on rubbish tips. They do not have a pronouce sexual dimorphism and they cannot be sexed visually. The aim of this thesis is to get an insight in the wintering site fidelity of Black-headed gulls caught on the rubbish tip Prudinec. I analyzed five different functions from literature and for determining the sex I selected the one that fits the most for my set of data of measured Black-headed gulls. I gathered the data recoveries of measured gulls from the period of 2010 to 2021 and I extracted only the recoveries during the winter months. The proportions of the sexes during the winter months (from November to March) imply that during January, in the area of the city Zagreb there is a larger proportion of females compared to males. The proportion of the number of recoveries in Zagreb and all of the recoveries throughout the winter months for all sex and age categories imply that gulls I ringed as adult females have a tendency to be more faithful to their wintering site of the city of Zagreb than all other categories.

U ovom su diplomskom radu analizirana morfološka i morfometrijska obilježja čeljusti i škrga za dvije vrste iz uzgoja, i to za oradu, Sparus aurata i lubina, Dicentrarchus labrax. Ukupna dužina tijela svih analiziranih jedinki vrste S. aurata se nalazila u rasponu od 22,5 do 29,5 cm, s prosječnom dužinom od 26,20 ± 1,77 cm. Ukupna dužina tijela svih analiziranih jedinki vrste D. labrax je bila u rasponu od 22,5 do 34,5 cm, s prosječnom dužinom od 30,75 ± 2,70 cm. Zubi orade i lubina su smješteni na gornjoj i donjoj čeljusti. Zubi orade su u pravilu okrugli i tupi, a zubi lubina šiljasti. Njihova veličina (opseg i površina kod oradi i dužina kod lubina) je u linearnom odnosu s dužinom ribe. Škržni listići orade bili su resaste strukture, dok su škržni nastavci bili mali i vidljivi samo na prvom škržnom luku. Škrge lubina također imaju škržne listiće resaste strukture te se škržni nastavci također vide samo na prvom škržnom luku, ali su za razliku od onih kod orade puno veći. Prosječna dužina donjeg dijela škržnih lukova je bila veća od dužine gornjeg dijela škržnih lukova i za lubina i za komarču. Navedene dužine su bile u linearnom odnosu s dužinom ribe. In this thesis, we analysed the morphological and morphometric characteristics of jaws and gills for two species from the aquaculture, namely for the sea bream, Sparus aurata and the sea bass, Dicentrarchus labrax. The total body length of all analysed S. aurata individuals ranged from 22.5 to 29.5 cm, with an average length of 26.20 ± 1.77 cm. The total body length of all analysed D. labrax individuals ranged from 22.5 to 34.5 cm, with an average length of 30.75 ± 2.70 cm. The sea bream and the sea bass teeth are located on the upper and lower jaws. The sea bream teeth are usually round and blunt, while the sea bass teeth are pointed. Their size (area and perimeter in the sea bream and length in the sea bass) is in a linear relationship with the length of the fish. Gill filaments of the sea bream had fringed structures, while gill rakers were small and visible only on the first gill arch. The gills of the sea bass also have fringed structured gill filaments and the gill rakers are also visible only on the first gill arch, but unlike those of the sea bream they are much larger. The average length of the lower part of the gill arches was greater than the length of the upper part of the gill arches for both sea bass and sea bream. The mentioned lengths were in a linear relationship with the length of the fish.

The European snake-eyed skink (Ablepharus kitaibelii) is the smallest lizard in Croatia and one of the smallest lizards in Europe. Its total body length reaches a maximum of 13 cm while their weight is between 0.7 and 1.5 grams. In Croatia, the European snake-eyed skink is limited to a very small area in the Papuk Nature Park and to several localities in the town of Ilok and its surroundings. On Papuk, the species is limited to the slopes of the Turjak-Mališćak-Pliš peaks, above Velika. In 2019, the species was recorded at a new site, Stinice. The main goal of this research is to confirm the presence of species of the European snake-eyed skink in Stinice, Papuk and to determine stability and survival of this population. In addition to individual sampling of morphometric and ecological parameters, transects were determined to assess the relative number and density of the population. Additionally, data collected during this research were compared with the data from previous studies on Turjak in order to determine population trend. During this research altogether 34 individuals were caught (32 adult and two juveniles) and their morphometric data were taken and five body indices calculated. As well, ecological data (soil and air temperature, sun/shadow), tail condition and behaviour were recorded. The population on Stinice corresponds to subspecies A. k. fitzingers based on morphometric characteristics and represents another subpopulation on Papuk. In 64.71% of individuals caught, the tail was in the regeneration process which confirms high predation pressure on this population. Furthermore, we observed for the first time an individual of European mantis (Mantis religiosa) to feed on European snake-eyed skink carcass. Comparison of individuals from newly discovered population from Stinice showed larger head proportions compared to individuals from Turjak. Monitoring was carried out in the field using the method of line transects. In total three line transects were set and two researchers were always checking them simultaneously. Altogether 40 individuals were recorded during transect search. The analysis of data collected on linear transects during monitoring showed population density of the European snake-eyed skink in Stinice to be six individuals per hectare. Comparing with the population density of the European snake-eyed skink on Turjak, which is 97 individuals per hectare, it can be concluded that the population of the European snake-eyed skink on Stinice has a lower density and lower relative number than the population on Turjak. This research has also shown that population from Stinice does not stand such high antropogenic pressure, since there are no hiking trails in the vicinity. This, together with the fact that allochthonous black pine (Pinus nigra) is not present in Stinice, reduces its chance of forest fire.

Докторска дисертација представља таксономску студију тестатних амеба Источне Херцеговине базирану искључиво на резултатима сопствених истраживања с обзиром да на овом подручју тестатне амебе до сада нису проучаване, те не постоје историјске музејске колекције. На подручју Источне Херцеговине регистровано је 40 врста тестатних амеба које су сврстане у 10 фамилија и један род без јасног места у класификационом систему. Сви регистровани таксони тестатних амеба су нови за фауну Босне и Херцеговине. Укупно је анализирано 24.549 јединки, од чега су 23.242 јединке припадале групи тестатних амеба са лобоподијама (супергрупа Amoebozoa), а 1307 јединки је припадало групи тестатних амеба са филоподијама (супергрупа Cercozoa). Најзначајнији резултат ове дисертације је опис пет нових врста за науку које припадају родовимаCentropyxis, Heleopera и Nebela. Морфотип означен као C. cf. aerophila се од врсте C. aerophila разликује по томе што се на крају љуштурице не налази пар крупних честица кварца,а и љуштурица је нешто дужа (46‒81 μm код врсте C. aerophila према 67‒ 88 μm код врсте C. cf. aerophila). Морфотип означен као C. cf. platystoma значајно се пре свега морфолошки разликује од врсте C. platystoma, те је закључено да се ради о неописаној врсти.У оквиру рода Heleopera описан је нови морфотип сличан врсти H. rosea који представља нову врсту за науку. Морфометријске разлике су релативне, тј. нису строго дискриминаторне, те се морају комбиновати са морфолошким разликама које су такође тешко yочљиве. Наиме, поред разлике у боји љуштурице, најбољи дискриминаторни морфолошки карактер је општи облик љуштурице. Љуштурице врсте H. rosea су робусног облика, док су љуштурице врсте Heleopera cf. rosea знатно елегантније ‒ уже су и имају облије ивице. Највеће морфометријске разлике у индексним карактерима су забележене за однос ширине и дужине љуштурице и однос ширине апертуре и ширине љуштурице.Морфотип Nebela cf. collaris се од врсте N. collaris јасно разликује пре свега морфолошки и еколошки, а морфометријски веома мало. Naime, pored razlike u boji ljušturice, najbolji diskriminatorni morfološki karakter je opšti oblik ljušturice. LJušturice vrste H. rosea su robusnog oblika, dok su ljušturice vrste Heleopera cf. rosea znatno elegantnije ‒ uže su i imaju oblije ivice. Najveće morfometrijske razlike u indeksnim karakterima su zabeležene za odnos širine i dužine ljušturice i odnos širine aperture i širine ljušturice.Morfotip Nebela cf. collaris se od vrste N. collaris jasno razlikuje pre svega morfološki i ekološki, a morfometrijski veoma malo. Naime, najvažnija morfološka odlika koja morfotip N. cf. collaris razdvaja od vrste N. collaris su talasaste ivice ljušturice, a ekološka razlika se javlja u smislu da vrsta N. collaris naseljava zelene mahovine dok morfotip N. cf. collaris naseljava sfagnumske mahovine. Morfotip N. cf. tincta var. major se od morfotipa N. cf. collaris razlikuje pre svega po jasno izraženom suženju u delu blizu aperture, tj. izraženom vratu. Takođe, morfotip N. cf. tincta var. major nikada nema talasaste ivice ljušturice,dok se kod jedinki morfotipa N. cf. collaris ova karakteristika često jasno uočava., The PhD thesis is a taxonomic study of testate amoebae from East Herzegovina based exclusively on the results of our own research, given that testate amoebae have not been studied in this region so far, and there are no historical museum collections. In the region of East Herzegovina,40 testate amoeba species have been registered, which are classified into 10 families and one genus without a clear place in the classification system. All registered testate amoeba taxa are new to the fauna of Bosnia and Herzegovina. A total of 24,549 individuals belonged to the group of testate amoebae with lobopodia (supergroup Amoebozoa), and 1307 individuals belonged to the group of testate amoebae with filopodia (supergroup Cercozoa). The most significant results of this PhD thesis are the descriptions of five new species for science belonging to the genera Centropyxis, Heleopera, and Nebela. The morphotype Centropyxis cf. aerophila differs from C. aerophila in that there is no large quartz particles at the shell end, and the shell is slightly longer (46‒81 μm in C. aerophila versus 67‒88 μm in C. cf. aerophila). The morphotype C. cf. platystoma differs significantly morphologically from C. platystoma, so it was concluded that it is an undescribed species. Within the genus Heleopera a new morphotype similar to H. rosea has been described, representing a new species for science. Morphometric differences are relative, i.e. they are not strictly discriminatory, and must be combined with morphological differences that are difficult to detect. Namely, in addition to the difference in the color of the shell, the best discriminatory morphological character is the general shell shape. Shells of H. rosea are red and robust in shape, while shells of H. cf. rosea are volet and much more elegant ‒ they are narrower and have rounded edges. The largest morphometric differences in the index characters were observed for shell width/shell length ratio and aperture width/shell width ratio. The morphotype Nebela cf. collaris clearly differs from N. collaris primarily morphologically and ecologically, but morphometrically very little. Namely, the most important morphological character that N. cf. collaris separates from N. collaris are the wavy edges of the shell, and the ecological difference occurs in the sense that N. collaris inhabits green mosses while N. cf. collaris inhabits Sphagnum mosses. The morphotype N. cf. tincta var. major from the morphotype N. cf. collaris differs primarily by a clearly pronounced narrowing in the part near the aperture, i.e. pronounced neck. Also, the morphotype N. cf. tincta var. major never has a wavy edge of the shell, while in N. cf. collaris this feature is often clearly observed.

Morfotip označen kao C. cf. platystoma značajno se pre svega morfološki razlikuje od vrste C. platystoma, te je zaključeno da se radi o neopisanoj vrsti.U okviru roda Heleopera opisan je novi morfotip sličan vrsti H. rosea koji predstavlja novu vrstu za nauku. Morfometrijske razlike su relativne, tj. nisu strogo diskriminatorne, te se moraju kombinovati sa morfološkim razlikama koje su takođe teško yočljive. Naime, pored razlike u boji ljušturice, najbolji diskriminatorni morfološki karakter je opšti oblik ljušturice. LJušturice vrste H. rosea su robusnog oblika, dok su ljušturice vrste Heleopera cf. rosea znatno elegantnije ‒ uže su i imaju oblije ivice. Najveće morfometrijske razlike u indeksnim karakterima su zabeležene za odnos širine i dužine ljušturice i odnos širine aperture i širine ljušturice.Morfotip Nebela cf. collaris se od vrste N. collaris jasno razlikuje pre svega morfološki i ekološki, a morfometrijski veoma malo. Naime, najvažnija morfološka odlika koja morfotip N. cf. collaris razdvaja od vrste N. collaris su talasaste ivice ljušturice, a ekološka razlika se javlja u smislu da vrsta N. collaris naseljava zelene mahovine dok morfotip N. cf. collaris naseljava sfagnumske mahovine. Morfotip N. cf. tincta var. major se od morfotipa N. cf. collaris razlikuje pre svega po jasno izraženom suženju u delu blizu aperture, tj. izraženom vratu. Takođe, morfotip N. cf. tincta var. major nikada nema talasaste ivice ljušturice,dok se kod jedinki morfotipa N. cf. collaris ova karakteristika često jasno uočava. The PhD thesis is a taxonomic study of testate amoebae from East Herzegovina based exclusively on the results of our own research, given that testate amoebae have not been studied in this region so far, and there are no historical museum collections. In the region of East Herzegovina,40 testate amoeba species have been registered, which are classified into 10 families and one genus without a clear place in the classification system. All registered testate amoeba taxa are new to the fauna of Bosnia and Herzegovina. A total of 24,549 individuals belonged to the group of testate amoebae with lobopodia (supergroup Amoebozoa), and 1307 individuals belonged to the group of testate amoebae with filopodia (supergroup Cercozoa). The most significant results of this PhD thesis are the descriptions of five new species for science belonging to the genera Centropyxis, Heleopera, and Nebela. The morphotype Centropyxis cf. aerophila differs from C. aerophila in that there is no large quartz particles at the shell end, and the shell is slightly longer (46‒81 μm in C. aerophila versus 67‒88 μm in C. cf. aerophila). The morphotype C. cf. platystoma differs significantly morphologically from C. platystoma, so it was concluded that it is an undescribed species. Within the genus Heleopera a new morphotype similar to H. rosea has been described, representing a new species for science. Morphometric differences are relative, i.e. they are not strictly discriminatory, and must be combined with morphological differences that are difficult to detect. Namely, in addition to the difference in the color of the shell, the best discriminatory morphological character is the general shell shape. Shells of H. rosea are red and robust in shape, while shells of H. cf. rosea are volet and much more elegant ‒ they are narrower and have rounded edges. The largest morphometric differences in the index characters were observed for shell width/shell length ratio and aperture width/shell width ratio. The morphotype Nebela cf. collaris clearly differs from N. collaris primarily morphologically and ecologically, but morphometrically very little. Namely, the most important morphological character that N. cf. collaris separates from N. collaris are the wavy edges of the shell, and the ecological difference occurs in the sense that N. collaris inhabits green mosses while N. cf. collaris inhabits Sphagnum mosses. The morphotype N. cf. tincta var. major from the morphotype N. cf. collaris differs primarily by a clearly pronounced narrowing in the part near the aperture, i.e. pronounced neck. Also, the morphotype N. cf. tincta var. major never has a wavy edge of the shell, while in N. cf. collaris this feature is often clearly observed.

Morfometrijska analiza temeljila se na digitalnom modelu reljefa razlučivosti 0,5 × 0,5 m, izrađenog LiDAR-skim snimanjem. Obodi depresija su izlučivani poluautomatskom metodom, kojom se izvela klasifikacija ponikava u redove. Na temelju ponikava prvog reda su izrađene analize reljefnih atributa (dubina, indeks kružnosti, orijentacija, volumen, površina) i analize prostornih statistika (indeks okršenosti, prostorna gustoća ponikava, mjera disperzije). Zaključeno je kako su ponikve proučavanog područja korozijskog postanka. Dominantni pravac pružanja je N-S, uvjetovan litologijom i tektonikom. Najveća gustoća ponikava je na rudistnim vapnencima, a distribucija ponikava je disperzna. Potrebno je izvršiti dodatna terenska istraživanja kako bi se utvrdio nastanak depresija viših redova. Morphometric analysis was based on a digital elevation model of 0.5 × 0.5 m resolution, derived from LiDAR surveying method. The rims of depressions were delineated by a semi-automatic method, which was used for classifying sinkholes into different levels. Based on the data of level-1 sinkholes, the analysis of relief attributes (depth, circularity index, orientation, volume, area) and the analysis of spatial statistics (pitting index, sinkhole density, dispersion patterns) were made. It was concluded that the sinkholes of the studied area are of corrosive origin. Dominant orientation of the longest axis of sinkholes is N-S, conditioned by lithology and tectonics. Highest sinkhole density was observed on rudist-bearing limestones, and the distribution of sinkholes is dispersed. Additional field research needs to be conducted in order to determine the occurrence of depressions on higher levels.

Salmiņa L. 2020. Vēlā devona daivspurzivju zvīņas no Ketleru svītas un to morfometriskā analīze. Bakalaura darbs. Rīga, Latvijas Universitāte, Ģeogrāfijas un Zemes zinātņu fakultāte. 72 lpp. Bakalaura darbā ir pētītas makroskopiskās daivspurzivju zvīņu fosilijas no augšējā devona Ketleru svītas Varkaļu ridas. Veikta zvīņu morfometriskā analīze un tās rezultātu interpretācija. Lauka darbi tika veikti 2019. gada septembrī ģeoloģiski un ģeomorfoloģiski aizsargājamā dabas pieminekļa “Ketleru atsegums” teritorijā. Sastādīts un aprakstīts ģeoloģiskais griezums, ievāktas zivju zvīņu fosilijas. Daivspurzivju zvīņu morfometriskā analīze tika veikta “Biomorphix” un ”PAST” programmās. Izmantojot iegūtos zvīņu morfometrijas rezultātus, lielākajai daļai daivspurzivju zvīņu tika noskaidrota to taksonomiskā piederība, kā arī nosaukti šo zvīņu morfotipi. Kopumā tika izdalītas trīs sugu pārstāvju zvīņas Glyptopomus bystrowi, Holoptychius sp., Cryptolepis grossi. Šo zvīņu starpā ir sastopamas arī tādas zvīņas, kuru piederību noteikt neizdevās. Kaut arī Glyptopomus un Cryptolepis raksturīga ir romboīdās zvīņu forma, dažkārt tās mēdz būt apaļas un pēc proporcijām atgādināt elasmoīdās, tādas kā Holoptychius., Salmina L. 2020 Morphometric analysis of the Late Devonian lobe-finned fish scales from the Ketleri Formation. Bachelor thesis. Riga, University of Latvia, Faculty of Geography and Earth Sciences. 72 pp. The macroscopic lobe-finned fish scale fossils from the Upper Devonian Ketleri Formation, Varkaļi Member have been studied in the bachelor’s thesis. Morphometric analysis and interpretation of the results have been done. Fieldworks were carried out in September 2019 in the area of the protected geological and geomorphological nature monument “Kelteri Outcrop”. A geological section was compiled and described, and fossil fish scales were collected. Morphometric analysis of the lobe-finned fish scales was carried out using the “Biomorphix” and ”PAST” programs. Using the results of the acquired scale morphometry, most lobe-finned fish scales were identified as their taxonomic affiliation and the morphotypes of these scales were established. In general, the scales of the three species were identified, namely Glyptopomus bystrowi, Holoptychius sp., and Cryptolepis grossi. There are also scales within the material which we failed to determine the affiliation. Glyptopomus bystrowi and Cryptolepis grossi usually have demonstrated typical rhomboid scales, however, in some cases the scales of these taxa show the shape of elasmoid scale similar as in the representative of the genus Holoptychius.

Koncept ekološke niše razvijan je kroz više godina i ima važnu ulogu u proučavanju međuvrsne kompetencije zbog principa kompetitivnog isključenja koji navodi da dvije vrste s identičnim nišama ne mogu koegzistirati bez ograničenja. Iako je niša vrste teoretski definirana vrlo velikim brojem biotičkih i abiotičkih čimbenika, najbolje je opisuje Hutchinsonov n-dimenzionalni hipervolumen gdje je n je jednak broju ekoloških čimbenika bitnih za preživljavanje i razmnožavanje vrste. Prirodna selekcija može dovesti do morfoloških razlika kod vrsta u kompeticiji, što se naziva preraspodjela obilježja (eng. character displacement) – kad se dvije vrste više razlikuju dijelu areala gdje se pojavljuju zajedno, nego na onim područjima gdje im se areali ne preklapaju. Morfologija je grana biologije koja proučava oblik i građu organizama, dok je morfometrija područje morfologije u kojoj se na kvantitativan način opisuju, analiziraju i interpretiraju promjene veličine i oblika morfoloških cjelina. Na primjerima iz nekoliko istraživanja, prikazano je kako kompeticija može imati velik utjecaj na niše vrsta i kako se morfometrija može koristiti za utvrđivanje povezanosti između preraspodjele obilježja i zauzimanja novih niša. The ecological niche concept was developed through many years and it has an important place in the study of interspecific competition because of the competitive exclusion principle which claims that two species with identical niches cannot coexist without constrains. Although the niche of a species is defined by a very large number of biotic and abiotic factors, it is best described by Hutchinson’s n-dimensional hypervolume where is n equal to number of environmental factors important for survival and reproduction of the species. Natural selection may lead to differences in the morphology of competing species, a situation called character displacement - when two species differ more from each other in geographic areas where they occur together than where their distributions do not overlap. Morphology is a branch of biology that studies form and structure of organism. Morphometry is a domain of morphology which, in quantitative way, describes, analyses, and interprets morphological units. On examples from a few research papers, it was represented how competition can have big influence on the niches of species and how morphometry can be used to determine the correlation between character displacement and the change of the niche.

Populacije potočne pastrve i njihova morfološka različitost u potocima Samoborsko-žumberačkog gorja još nije istraživana. Stoga je cilj ovog rada bio utvrditi kondiciju, dužinsko masene odnose, morfometrijske i merističke značajke između pet populacija potočne pastrve. Analizirano je ukupno 70 primjeraka potočne pastrve. Najniži Fultonov kondicijski faktor zabilježen je na potoku Kupčina, a najviši na potoku Slapnica. Negativan alometrijski rast jedinki zabilježen je jedino na potoku Gradna. Utvrđene su značajne statističke razlike za duljinu glave, širinu i visinu usta, visinu leđne i prsne peraje, broju mekih žbica u leđnoj peraji i broju piloričkih nastavaka između lokacija. Najveća sličnost jedinki potočne pastrve na temelju morfometrijskih i merističkih značajki uočena je između populacija potoka Slapnice i Rudarske Gradne. Identificirana statistički značajna morfometrijska svojstva ukazuju na genetsku varijabilnost između analiziranih uzoraka i mogućnost da je vršeno poribljavanje s linijama pastrva iz uzgoja, osobito na potocima Slapnica i Rudarska Gradna.Daljnja istraživanja trebaju biti usmjerena na molekularne analize kako bi se utvrdila prisutnost Atlantskih linija potočne pastrve (unesenih za potrebe uzgoja) i njihove potencijalne introgresije gena u domaću Dunavsku pastrvu, kako bi se predložile odgovarajuće mjere zaštite., Until now brown trout populations, and their morphological dinstinction in Samobor-Žumberak mountain streams, have not been investigated. The aim of this research was to determine condition factor, length-weight relationship, morphometric and meristic differences between five brown trout populations. In total, 70 specimens of brown trout were analysed. The lowest Fulton condition factor was observed at Kupčina and the highest at the Slapnica stream. Only specimens from Gradna stream demonstrated negative allometric growth. Significant statistical differences between the investigated sites have been identified for head length, mouth width and height, dorsal and pectoral fin height, the number of soft rays in the dorsal fin, and the number of pyloric caeca. The highest similarity between brown trout specimens, based on morphometric and meristic traits, has been observed between the Slapnica and Rudarska Gradna streams. Identified statistically significant morphometric traits suggest genetic variability between analysed specimens and the potential efficacy of stocking with feral brown trout, particularly at the Slapnica and Rudarska Gradna streams. Further research should be focused on the use of molecular analyses to determine the presence of Atlantic lineages (feral) of brown trout, and gene introgression to native wild strains in order to suggest potentially effective conservation measures.

The aoudad is a bovid species native to North Africa and highly adaptable to different environments. Although some morphological data of aoudad has been published, the research mostly dealt with measurements taken from captive populations. Therefore, morphological data of free-ranging populations in their non-native habitat is largely unknown. The present study analysed the important morphometric parameters in a non- native Mediterranean population of aoudad. Body and horn measurements were taken on 30 free-range aoudads (20 M, 10 F) legally culled from 2014 to 2019. A descriptive analysis of the quantitative body and horn measurements was performed and an insight into population growth rates was provided. The Mediterranean population of aoudad showed higher mean values of investigated body and horn measurements and higher growth rates than in other research, ranging from ca. 2 – 10% for most of the measurements. The results suggest that the investigated population is well adapted to Mediterranean habitat which allowed aoudad to notably allocate energy to both body and horn development. This research is a contribution to knowledge about how specific habitat might shape aoudad population life-history traits., Grivasti skakač je autohtoni šupljorožac Sjeverne Afrike i iznimno prilagodljiv različitim staništima. Iako su morfološki podaci grivastog skakača objavljivani, istraživanja su se uglavnom oslanjala na mjere uzete iz populacija u zatočeništvu. Zbog toga, morfološki podaci slobodnih populacija grivastog skakača u stranim staništima su uvelike nepoznati. U ovom istraživanju analizirani su važni morfometrijski parametri alohtone Mediteranske populacije grivastog skakača. Prikupljene su mjere tijela i rogova 30 grivastih skakača (20 M, 10 Ž) legalno odstreljenih između 2014. i 2019. godine. Napravljena je deskriptivna analiza kvantitativnih mjera tijela i rogova i pružen osvrt na stopu rasta populacije. Mediteranska populacija grivastog skakača pokazala je više srednje vrijednosti istraživanih mjera tijela i rogova te snažniju stopu rasta za oko 2 – 10% nego što je prikazano u ostalim istraživanjima. Rezultati sugeriraju da je istraživana populacija dobro prilagođena Mediteranskom staništu koje je omogućilo značajno usmjerenje energije u tjelesni razvoj i razvoj rogova. Ovo istraživanje doprinosi znanju kako posebnosti staništa mogu oblikovati značajke životnog ciklusa populacija grivastog skakača.

S pomočjo klasične morfometrije cvetov in ob uporabi multivariantnih statističnih metod smo analizirali cvetove petih taksonov iz oblikovnega kroga čmrljelikega mačjega ušesa (Ophrys holosericea agg.). Morfološko smo ovrednotili cvetove tipske podvrste (O. holosericea s.s.) in jih primerjali s taksoni: O. holosericea subsp. untchjii, O. holosericea subsp. medea, O. cf. serotina in O. holosericea subsp. tetraloniae. Območje raziskave zajema področja Slovenije in Hrvaške. Analizirali smo cvetove iz 18 lokacij. Korelacijski testi so bili izvedeni na podlagi 19 bioklimatskih spremenljivk in prve glavne morfološke komponente. Rezultati so pokazali, da devet bioklimatskih spremenljivk statistično značilno vpliva na velikost in obliko cvetov. Dokazali smo, da na opazovane morfološke znake cvetov, ki se uporabljajo za razlikovanje taksonov Ophrys holosericea, vplivajo lokalne podnebne razmere. Pokazali smo tudi, kako težko je razmejiti taksone na podlagi 19 morfoloških znakov cvetov. Prav zato bi morali pri določanju taksonov iz rodu Ophrys upoštevati ekološke pogoje posameznih lokacij. With the use of classical flower morphometry we used multivariate statistical methods to analyze the flowers of five taxa from the Ophrys holosericea complex. We morphologically evaluated the flowers of the nominate form (O. holosericea s.s.) and compared them with taxa: O. holosericea subsp. untchjii, O. holosericea subsp. medea, O. cf. serotina in O. holosericea subsp. tetraloniae. The study area chosen covers the areas of Slovenia and Croatia. Altogether, 18 locations were analized. Correlation tests were performed based on 19 bioclimatic variables and the first major morphological component. The results showed that nine bioclimatic variables have a statistically significant correlation with the flower form. We proved that the observed floral characters used to differentiate taxa in the Ophrys holosericea complex are affected by local climatic conditions. We also showed how difficult it is to differentiate taxa based on 19 floral morfphological charactes. Ecological conditions of the individual sites should be considered and taken into account when determening the taxa in the genus Ophrys.

Fosilni ostatci vrste Marmota marmota (Linnaeus, 1758) pronađeni su u gornjopleistocenskim naslagama Pećina u Brini, nedaleko od Drniša. Od ukupno 233 skeletna elementa, njih 219 pronađeno je u istočnoj, a 14 u zapadnoj Pećini u Brini. Nadalje, u cijelom uzorku 119 ostataka pripada dugim kostima. Prema morfologiji dugih kostiju razvrstane su 23 adultne, 33 subadultne i 63 juvenilne kosti planinskog svisca. Proučavani fosilni materijal je nakon mjerenja uspoređivan s izmjerenim recentnim kostima. Uspoređivan je samo adultni skeletni materijal, a rezultati mjerenja uvršteni su u odgovarajuće tablice kako bi se lakše uočile i objasnile morfološke razlike između fosilnih i recentnih marmota. The fossil remains of the species Marmota marmota (Linnaeus, 1758) were found in the Late Pleistocene deposits of the Pećine u Brini caves near Drniš. From the whole sample of 233 skeletal elements, 219 were found in the eastern and 14 in the western cave. Furthermore, 119 elements belong to the long bones. According to the long bone morphology, there are 23 adult, 33 subadult and 63 juvenile bones of the alpine marmot. Studied fossil material was compared to the measured bones of the recent animals. Only the adult skeletal material was compared, and the measurement results are presented in the appropriate tables. Morphological differences between the fossil and recent marmots on the base of the skeletal elements are explained and presented as well.

Pastrvski grgeč (Micropterus salmoides (Lacepède, 1802)) dobro je poznata vrsta ribe, ponajviše zbog brojnih istraživanja u Sjevernoj Americi od kuda vrsta i potječe. Pastrvski grgeč, danas rasprostranjen diljem svijeta, na glasu je kao jedna od najpopularnijih i najvrjednijih vrsta riba u sportskom ribolovu i ribolovnom turizmu, u Republici Hrvatskoj se smatra stranom invazivnom vrstom visokog rizika. Cilj ovog istraživanja je proučavanje značajki populacija pastrvskog grgeča u RH. Istraživanje rasprostranjenosti provedeno je pregledom literature, terenskim istraživanjima i pregledom podataka dobivenih od sportskih ribolovaca, te je istraživanjem rasprostranjenosti utvrđen poseban uzorak povećanja broja lokaliteta od početka 20. stoljeća do danas. Morfološke razlike jedinki iz slivova rijeka Drave i Save, te jadranskog sliva (ukupno 15 lokacija) prikazane su dvodimenzionalnom mrežom i analizirane statističkim metodama, te su utvrđene manje morfometrijske razlike između istraživanih grupa. Filogenetska rekonstrukcija se temeljila na sekvencama gena za kontrolnu regiju (CR) te je provedena pomoću metoda najveće parsimonije (MP), najveće vjerojatnosti (ML) i susjednog povezivanja (MJ). Analiza populacijske genetike pastrvskog grgeča u Hrvatskoj sugerira na malu raznolikost i malen broj inicijalno unesenih jedinki, te potvrđuju tezu o ilegalnim translokacijama. Također otkriven je poseban haplotip čije postojanje u jezeru Jarun i zanimljiv filogenetski položaj nisu posve razjašnjen. The largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides (Lacepède, 1802)) is one of the best known species of fish in the world, mainly because of numerous studies in North America from where it originates. Today largemouth bass is widely spread throughout the world as one of the most popular and valuable fish species in sport fishing and fishing tourism, while in the Republic of Croatia is considered to be a high risk foreign invasive species. The aim of this study is to examine the characteristics of largemouth bass populations in Croatia. Outspread research is conducted through literature reviews, field surveys, and data obtained from sport fishermen. This part of research shows a specific pattern of increasing localities number from the early 20th century to the present. The morphological differences of the individuals from the Drava and Sava river basins and the Adriatic basin (15 sites in total) were shown by a 2D network and analyzed by statistical methods. Minor morphometric differences were found between the studied groups. Phylogenetic reconstruction was based on the control region (CR) gene sequences and was conducted using following methods: maximum parsimony (MP), maximum likelihood (ML), and media joining (MJ). A genetic study of largemouth bass population characteristics in Croatia suggests a small diversity and a small number of individuals initially introduced, and also confirms thesis of illegal translocations. Also, special haplotype is discovered whose existence in Lake Jarun and an interesting phylogenetic position have not been fully clarified.

Gojaznost je definisana povećanjem masne mase tela koja dovodi do narušavanja zdravlja. Gojazne osobe imaju veliki rizik za razvoj sleep apnea sindroma, hiperlipidemije, hipertenzije, koronarne vaskularne bolesti, insulinske rezistenzije i dijabetesa. Poslednjih 15 godina ekvivalentan porast prevalence gojaznosti i terminalne bubrežne slabosti uslovio je i povećan interes za ispitivanje uloge gojaznosti u nastanku gojaznošću uslovljene bolesti bubrega. Gojaznost ne samo da ubrzava progresiju već postojećeg bubrežnog oštećenja, već je i sama po sebi nezavistan faktor rizika za nastanak bubrežnog oštećenja. Najpoznatija bubrežna bolest nastala zbog gojaznosti je gojaznošću uslovljena glomerulopatija (GUG), entitet koji se karakteriše proteinurijom, glomerulomegalijom, progresivnom glomerulosklerozom i smanjenjem funkcije bubrega. Ovaj patohistološki entitet je sekundarna forma bolesti glomerula kod gojaznih bolesnika sa morfološkim karakteristikama fokalno segmentne glomeruloskleroze (FSGS) i uvećanjem glomerula ili samo uvećanjem glomerula. Srećom, sve gojazne osobe neće razviti GUG. Cilj: Cilj ove doktorske disertacije je utvrditi parametre morfometrijske i fraktalne analize glomerula, klinički tok i ishod nakon dve godine praćenja gojaznih i negojaznih ispitanika. Metode: Studija je obavljena na Klinici za nefrologiju, Kliničkog centra Srbije u periodu od 2015. do 2017.godine. Patohistološka analiza tkiva bubrega obavljena je na Institutu za patologiju, Medicinskog fakulteta. U studiju je uključeno 125 ispitanika (77 muškaraca, prosečne starosti 46.92±15.10 godina) kod kojih postavljena dijagnoza: fokalno segmentne glomeruloskleroze, IgA nefropatije, membranoznog glomerulonefritisa, membranoproliferativnog glomerulonefritisa, bolest minimalnih promena, dijabetesne nefropatije i nefroangioskleroze. Na osnovu indeksa telesne mase ispitanici su podeljeni u dve grupe: gojazni (BMI ≥ 27 kg/m2- 63 ispitanika, prosečne starosti 50.1±15.1 godina) i negojazni (BMI< 27 kg/m2- 62 ispitanika, prosečne starosti 44.1±14.5 godina). Na dan biopsije, 6, 12 i 24 meseca nakon biopsije praćeni su sledeći parametri: koncentracija hemoglobina, kreatinina, ukupnih proteina, albumina, holesterola, triglicerida, proteinurije u 24h urinu. Jačina glomerulske filtracije (JGF) procenjena je formulama: Cockcroft-Gault# (Cockcroft-Gault -BMI < 27 kg/m2 i Cockcroft- GaultLBW - BMI ≥27 kg/m2) i CKD- EPI... Obesity is defined as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that presents a risk to health. Obese persons are at a greater risc to develop sleep apnea syndrome, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, coronary vascular disease, insulin resistance and diabetes. During the last 15 years there has been an equivalent dramatic rise in the prevalence of obesity and end stage renal disease, increasing the interest on the role of obesity- related kidney disease. Obesity not only increases the risk preexisting renal disease progression, but is itself also the independent risk factor of renal injury. The best known renal disease secondary to obesity is obesity related glomerulopathy (ORG), a distinct entity featuring proteinuria, glomerulomegalia, progressive glomerulosclerosis and renal functional decline. This pathohistological entity is described as a secondary form of glomerular disease in obese patients with morphological characteristics of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and enlargement of the glomeruli, or only by enlargement of the glomeruli. Fortunately, not all obese persons develop ORG. Aim: The aim of this dissertation was to evaluate the glomerular morphometry, fractal analysis parameters, clinical features and two years outcome in obese and non-obese patients. Methods: The study was performed at the Clinic of Nephrology, Clinical center of Serbia in the period between 2015 and 2017 year. The pathohistological analysis of kidney tissue was done at the Institute for Pathology, School of Medicine. The study included 125 patients (77 males, mean age 46.92±15.10 years) who were diagnosed with one of the following diseases: focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), IgA nephropathy, membranous glomerulonephritis, membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis, minimal change disease, diabetic nephropathy and nephroangiosclerosis. Based on BMI patients were divided into two groups: obese (BMI≥ 27 kg/m2- 63 patients, mean age 50.1±15.1 years) and non-obese (BMI< 27 kg/m2- 62 patients, age 44.1±14.5 years). At the time of the kidney biopsy, 6, 12 and 24 months after the biopsy following parameters were determined: haemoglobine concentration, serum concentration of creatinine, total proteins, albumin, cholesterol, triglyceride and 24-hour urine protein test. Patka gluhara (Anas platyrhynchos L.) naša je najpoznatija divlja patka, rasprostranjena gotovo po čitavom teritoriju Republike Hrvatske. U ovom istraživanju u lovnoj sezoni 2018/2019 prikupljeno je 50 uzoraka patke gluhare (28 mužjaka i 22 ženke) s područja triju županija kontinentalne Hrvatske (Zagrebačka, Ličko-senjska, Vukovarsko-srijemska). Svakoj jedinki određen je spol i izmjereni morfometrijski parametri (raspon i duljina krila, duljina i širina glave, duljina, širina i visina kljuna, duljina tijela, duljina i širina tarzusa, ukupna masa, masa trupa, srca, jetre i želuca, te randman). Rezultati istraživanja pokazali su da statistički značajne razlike u morfometrijskim osobinama između spolova nema samo kod širine tarzusa, mase srca i jetre, te kod randmana. Ostali izmjereni elementi pokazali su statistički značajnu razliku između spolova. Također, statistički značajna razlika između pojedinih lovnih područja ustanovljena je kod raspona krila, duljine tijela, duljine tarzusa, mase srca i randmana. Prosječan randman patke gluhare s područja kontinentalne Hrvatske iznosi 63,18 %, i približno je jednak kod mužjaka (63,17 %) i kod ženki (63,2 %). The Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos L.) is our most famous wild duck, widespread almost all over the territory of Croatia. In this research, during the hunting season 2018/2019 it was collected 50 individuals (28 males and 22 females) from the three counties of continental Croatia (Zagrebačka, Ličko-senjska, Vukovarsko-srijemska). Following sex determination, the various morphometric parameters were measured in each individual (range and length wing, length and width head, length, width and height beak, body length, tarsus length and width, body weight, carcass weight, heart, liver and gizzard weight and carcass percentage. The statistically significant difference was not found in morphometric parameters between males and female in tarsus width, heart weight, liver weight and carcass percentage. The other measured parameters showed significant differences between sexes. Likewise, statistically significant differences were found between individual hunting areas in wing range, body length, tarsus length, heart weight and carcass percentage. The average carcass percentage of Mallards from continental part of Croatia is 63,18% and it is approximately the same in males (63,17%) and females (63,2%).
