This study aims to examine the characteristics of interpretation bias among students with depressive tendencies under emotional priming conditions and compare with normal college students. This study employed behavioral experiments to gather data on the responses of college students with depressive tendency (depression tendency groups) and psychologically healthy college students (normal control group) in word association tasks. The tasks were conducted under positive and negative emotional priming conditions to investigate the interpretation bias characteristics of individuals with depressive tendency. Additionally, an interpretation bias intervention was implemented to enhance positive cognitive function, weaken negative cognition, and strengthen the inhibition of negative information. This intervention aimed to examine the changes in interpretation bias among individuals with depressive tendency and explore the effectiveness of positive cognitive intervention. Individuals with depressive tendency demonstrate a significant negative interpretation bias when processing ambiguous information, particularly when triggered by negative emotions. Following active interpretation training, participants in the depression intervention group exhibited reduced inhibition of positive interpretation processing and decreased activation of negative interpretation during the processing of ambiguous information. Negative emotions can amplify the processing of negative information and subsequent behavioral responses among college students with depressive tendency. Conversely, positive emotions can enhance the positive emotional experiences of these students and alleviate depressive symptoms. Positive interpretation bias training has the potential to enhance an individual's positive emotional experiences, modify or improve negative cognitive representations, and consequently reduce their susceptibility to depression. Cognitive behavioral therapy, prolonged exposure, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing are effective treatments for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They emphasize the processing of trauma-related memories and exposure as central components in treatment. In contrast, the metacognitive model emphasizes that PTSD is caused by a persistent negative thinking style, and the goal is to find alternative coping strategies and modify metacognitive beliefs without the use of exposure. In a quasi-experimental A-B design, patients diagnosed with PTSD received either MCT (n = 32) or TAU "treatment as usual" (n = 28) consisting of exposure-based treatments and were tested on different measures of symptoms. The results indicated that both treatments were effective and performed well on both trauma and anxiety symptoms. Recovery rates and clinical improvement were higher in the MCT condition at post-treatment. The study indicates that MCT could potentially be a viable alternative to trauma-focused treatment of PTSD. Gender is one of the main social markers that build subjectivity and is culturally shaped by the meanings and representations associated with sexual anatomic characteristics of an individual since birth. Despite the perceived advances in women's rights in the last few decades, sexism toward women has been conceptualized as a pervasive, chronic social stressor, outlining its association with a variety of negative physical and mental health outcomes. This review sheds light on the status of the gender-sensitive evidence in CBT available in Latin American databases. Our results from the Latin American databases context support the current critique that most CBT data produced worldwide tend to approach complex social phenomena using linear, subjective, or biological referential. Because of that, CBT has been commonly associated with a narrow, individualistic, and even stigmatizing perspective of minorities in general, and of women in particular, and failed to deliver gender-sensitive effective interventions for them. Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a prevalent and concerning mental health diagnosis across the globe. There are multiple evidence-based treatments that have been shown to effectively treat PTSD, including cognitive processing therapy (CPT) and exposure-based interventions. This case study depicts using CPT for treating uncomplicated PTSD in a 28-year-old woman, while integrating brief exposure exercises in the client's homework. These exercises helped target avoidance symptoms and acute distress as well as increase quality of life, such that the client was better able to engage in CPT. Follow up data indicated a significant reduction in PTSD symptoms as measured by the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist (PCL-5) such that she no longer met clinical criteria for a diagnosis of PTSD or experienced significant distress related to her trauma. This data reflects the utility of integrating other evidence-based exercises into manualized treatment to create nuanced, individualized treatment plans. This analysis employs a Bayesian framework to estimate the impact of a Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) intervention on the recidivism of high-risk people under community supervision. The study relies on the reanalysis of experimental datal using a Bayesian logistic regression model. In doing so, new estimates of programmatic impact were produced using weakly informative Cauchy priors and the Hamiltonian Monte Carlo method. The Bayesian analysis indicated that CBT reduced the prevalence of new charges for total, non-violent, property, and drug crimes. However, the effectiveness of the CBT program varied meaningfully depending on the participant's age. The probability of the successful reduction of drug offenses was high only for younger individuals (<26 years old), while there was an impact on property offenses only for older individuals (>26 years old). In general, the probability of the successful reduction of new charges was higher for the older group of people on probation. Generally, this study demonstrates that Bayesian analysis can complement the more commonplace Null Hypothesis Significance Test (NHST) analysis in experimental research by providing practically useful probability information. Additionally, the specific findings of the reestimation support the principles of risk-needs responsivity and risk-stratified community supervision and align with related findings, though important differences emerge. In this case, the Bayesian estimations suggest that the effect of the intervention may vary for different types of crime depending on the age of the participants. Mental illness substantially contributes to the global burden of disease, with anxiety high in prevalence. The increase of mobile technology, mental health apps have potential to lessen this burden. However, within apps, the use of evidence-based interventions, such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) are limited. Regardless, many commercially available mental health apps are highly rated by users, highlighting the need to understand what makes mental health apps valuable to the user. The contribution of this study was to uncover apps that support generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) and worry with a CBT basis, explore app functionality, and user experience. Firstly, by identifying apps that support GAD and worry and included CBT. Secondly, by identifying and analysing therapeutic and engagement functions within the apps, and finally, by thematically analysing user reviews. Six apps were identified to support GAD and worry that purported to be CBT-based. However, CBT therapeutic features and engagement features were minimally present in the apps. User reviews yielded 112 comments about the apps and key themes were identified about the app users' global experiences with the app, and about the combination of technological (e.g., useability, reliability) and therapeutic experiences (e.g., learning and using skills). Future development of quality apps to support GAD and worry must consider the empirical standing of both therapeutic and technology aspects, to provide efficacious and engaging interventions. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to provide a comprehensive overview of the prevalence, measurement tools, influencing factors, and interventions for fear of falling (FOF) in stroke survivors. Methods: A PRISMA-guided systematic literature review was conducted. PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane, and Web of Science were systematically searched. The search time was up to February 2023. All observational and experimental studies investigating FOF in stroke patients were included. The assessment tool of the Joanna Briggs Institute was used to assess the quality of the included studies and the risk of bias assessment. (PROSPERO: CRD42023412522). Result: A total of 25 observational studies and 10 experimental studies were included. The overall quality of the included studies was "low" to "good." The most common tool used to measure the FOF was the Falls Efficacy Scale-International (FES-I). The prevalence of FOF was 42%- 93.8%. Stroke survivors with physical impairments have the highest prevalence of FOF. The main risk factors for the development of FOF in stroke survivors were female gender, use of assistive devices, balance, limb dysfunction, and functional mobility. The combination of cognitive behavioral and exercise interventions is the most effective strategy. Conclusions: This review suggests that the prevalence of FOF in stroke survivors is high and that understanding the factors associated with FOF in stroke patients can help develop multifactorial prevention strategies to reduce FOF and improve quality of life. In addition, a uniform FOF measurement tool should be used to better assess the effectiveness of interventions for stroke survivors. Hypnotherapy combined with cognitive therapy is an effective way to intervene anxiety problems, which also responds to the call that using hypnotherapy to treat somatic disorders should become a trend in the future. This paper constructs an evaluation index of the intervention effect of cognitive hypnotherapy on anxiety patients, and then uses neural network to evaluate its effect. Purpose: An increasing number of individuals with stroke are having difficulties in returning to work, having a significant impact on both individuals and society. The aims of this meta-analysis were to summarize the interventions to support the return to work (RTW) for individuals with stroke and to quantitatively evaluate the efficacy of each type of intervention. Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted according to PRISMA guidelines. PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, and PsycINFO were searched until 26 June 2023, and the list of references of the initially included articles was also searched. Two researchers independently performed the search, screening, selection, and data extraction. The primary outcome was RTW rate (the RTW rate was defined as the proportion of individuals who returned to work in each group (intervention and control) at the endpoint). Pooled risk ratio (RR) was estimated using a random-effects model with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results: A total of 13 studies representing 4,282 individuals with stroke were included in our study. Results showed that physiological interventions could improve the RTW rate of individuals with stroke (RR: 1.19, 95% CI: 1.01 to 1.42, I2 = 72%). And receiving intravenous thrombolytic therapy was beneficial in promoting the RTW in individuals with stroke. Subgroup analysis and meta-regression analysis showed that the individuals' functional status during hospitalization was the only source of heterogeneity. Psychological interventions had little or no effect on the RTW rate of individuals with stroke (RR: 1.20, 95% CI: 0.58 to 2.51, I2 = 30%). Work-related interventions had little or no effect on the RTW rate of the individuals with stroke (RR:1.36,95%CI: 0.99 to 1.88, I2 = 73%). The subgroup analysis showed that country, age, and follow-up method were the sources of heterogeneity. Conclusion: Physiological intervention promoted the RTW of individuals with stroke. But, the effect of psychological and work-related interventions in promoting the RTW of individuals with stroke was not significant. We anticipate that these findings may inform the design of future interventions. For future research, we recommend that more high-quality randomized controlled trials be conducted to further promote the RTW of individuals with stroke. Objective: The current guidelines and canonical norms of diagnosis or treatment for Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) with sleep disorder are still conflicting and have not yet reached a consensus. This study aimed to unravel the most effective countermeasures between two categories (psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy) put forward by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) and World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry (WFSBP) respectively to treat PTSD individuals co-exist with sleep disorders. Methods: Four databases, including PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and APA PsyNet, were searched from inception to February 02, 2023. Results: Twenty articles with 24 Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and a total number of 1,647 participants were included. As demonstrated in the network meta-analysis comparison results, CBT-I (standardized mean differences (SMD) =-1.51,95% confidence interval (CI):-2.55 to -0.47), CBT-I plus IRT (SMD=-1.71, 95%CI:-3.39, -0.03), prazosin (SMD=-0.87, 95%CI:-1.59 to -0.16) and hydroxyzine (SMD=-1.06, 95%CI: -1.94 to -0.19) significantly reduced PTSD symptoms compared with placebo. In contrast to placebo, CBT-I (SMD=-5.61, 95%CI:-8.82 to -2.40) significantly improved sleep quality. For nightmare severity, IRT (SMD=-0.65, 95%CI:-1.00 to -0.31), prazosin (SMD=-1.20, 95%CI:-1.72 to -0.67) and hydroxyzine (SMD=-0.98,95%CI:-1.58 to -0.37) significantly reduced nightmare severity in comparison with placebo. Conclusions: This study suggested that under most circumstances, psychotherapy namely CBT-I had a favorable profile, but pharmacotherapy with prazosin was effective in managing nightmare severity. The sole avail of CBT-I was recommended to improving sleep quality while CBT-I and CBT-I plus IRT showed excellent management of PTSD symptom severity. School psychology professionals rely on professional literature to access information on scientifically supported practices. Counseling is certainly one of those practices. The purpose of this review was to determine how many articles published in prominent peer-reviewed school psychology journals have addressed providing effective counseling services to children and youth. We wanted to determine the types of counseling approaches that were described in those articles and which approaches garnered the most attention. Findings revealed that there were relatively few articles about counseling in prominent school psychology journals. Interestingly, most studies employed quantitative rather than qualitative designs and analyses. Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) was the approach that was implemented the most in empirical studies across the school psychology journals. Empirical studies mainly included elementary and middle school students from diverse racial and ethnic groups who were receiving counseling services in a small group (tier 2) format. Introduction: Endometriosis affects 5% to 10% of reproductive age women and may be associated with severely painful and debilitating symptoms as well as infertility. Endometriosis involves hormonal fluctuations, angiogenesis, neurogenesis, vascular changes and neuroinflammatory processes. The neuroinflammatory component of endometriosis makes it a systemic disorder, similar to other chronic epithelial inflammatory conditions. Areas covered: Inflammatory mediators, mast cells, macrophages, and glial cells play a role in endometriosis which can result in peripheral sensitization and central sensitization. There is overlap between chronic pelvic pain and endometriosis, but the two conditions are distinct. Effective treatment is based on a personalized approach using a variety of pharmacologic and other treatment options. Expert opinion: Hormonal therapies are a first-line approach, but endometriosis is a challenging condition to manage. 'Add-back' hormonal therapy has been effective. Painful symptoms are likely caused by the interplay of multiple factors and there may be a neuropathic component. Analgesics and anticonvulsants may be appropriate. A holistic approach and multimodal treatments are likely to be most effective. In addition to pharmacologic treatment, there are surgical and alternative medicine options. Endometriosis may also have a psychological component. Plain Language Summary: Endometriosis affects up to 10% of women of reproductive age and has variable symptoms that can include pain, fatigue, and infertility. It is not known what causes endometriosis or how to prevent it. It is a chronic inflammatory condition and involves many factors: hormonal changes during the monthly cycle, the creation of growths or lesions outside the uterus (which can become painful), creation of new blood vessels and nerves, as well as neuroinflammation. Neuroinflammation involves inflamed nerves which is associated with a specific type of pain. Endometriosis is not the same thing as chronic pelvic pain, but it is possible to have both conditions. It is not known if endometriosis can cause chronic pelvic pain later in life, but this cannot be ruled out. Since endometriosis varies widely among women in terms of pain and other symptoms, size and distribution of lesions, and progress of the disease, treatment options are often personalized to meet the specific needs of the patient. Hormonal therapies are a first-line approach and there are several different hormonal approaches and agents. Pain relievers may be added. Endometriosis may be associated with depressed mood or other psychological symptoms that can be addressed using cognitive behavioral therapy. Following statements about preferences for terminology, I describe three therapist characteristics (i.e., diagnostician educator, collaborator) deemed of value when providing psychological treatment for youth. Implementing an empirically supported treatment (EST) is a therapist decision, and while most therapists are aware of an EST that can fit for a specific client, many therapists ask "But is it right for my client?" This paper discusses therapist's mental processes that may misinform decisions when answering this key question. To assist optimal decision making, and with an eye on maladaptive anxiety in youth as the exemplar, the active components of successful treatments are described, along with illustrations of flexibility within treatment fidelity (Flexibility within fidelity: Breathing life into a psychological treatment manual. Flexibility in implementing active components (e.g. rapport, psychoeducation, cognitive change, exposure tasks), as well as flexibility across modalities of treatment (e.g., in person, online) and working with parents are described. Objective: The authors compared the engagement, clinical outcomes, and adverse events of text or voice message–based psychotherapy (MBP) versus videoconferencing-based psychotherapy (VCP) among adults with depression. Methods: The study used a sequential multiple-assignment randomized trial design with data drawn from phase 1 of a two-phase small business innovation research study. In total, 215 adults (ages ≥18 years) with depression received care from Talkspace, a digital mental health care company. Participants were initially randomly assigned to receive either asynchronous MBP or weekly VCP. All therapists provided evidence-based treatments such as cognitive-behavioral therapy. After 6 weeks of treatment, participants whose condition did not show a response on the Patient Health Questionnaire–9 or was rated as having not improved on the Clinical Global Impressions scale were randomly reassigned to receive either weekly VCP plus MBP or monthly VCP plus MBP. Longitudinal mixed-effects models with piecewise linear time trends applied to multiple imputed data sets were used to address missingness of data. Results: Participants who were initially assigned to the MBP condition engaged with their therapists over more weeks than did participants in the VCP condition (7.8 weeks for MBP vs. 4.9 weeks for VCP; p<0.001). No meaningful differences were observed between the two groups in rates of change by 6 or 12 weeks for depression, anxiety, disability, or global ratings of improvement. ABSTRACT Objective Method Results Discussion We aimed to compare use of, and outcomes from, programme‐led and focused interventions (guided self‐help and 10 session cognitive behavioral therapy for eating disorders [CBT‐T]) relative to other psychological therapies (including group and individual CBT for eating disorders [CBT‐ED]) in a national sample of emerging adults receiving early intervention for a non‐underweight binge/purge eating disorder.Data were drawn from 54 English eating disorder services using the First Episode Rapid Early Intervention for Eating Disorders (FREED) model. Participants (N = 1097) had a mean age of 18.95 years (SD 2.42) and diagnoses of bulimia nervosa (n = 506; 45%), binge eating disorder (n = 121; 11%), another specified feeding or eating disorder (n = 460; 42%), or an eating disorder, unspecified (n = 10, 1%). Linear mixed models were used to assess for effects of time and treatment on binge eating and purging, eating disorder psychopathology, depression/anxiety, and body mass index.11% (n = 117) of patients received guided self‐help and 24% (n = 268) received CBT‐T. Baseline eating disorder psychopathology and depressive/anxiety symptoms did not differ significantly across the guided self‐help, CBT‐T, group CBT‐ED, and individual CBT‐ED conditions. All treatments were associated with significant reductions in symptoms over time. GSH and CBT‐T performed comparably to longer CBT‐ED.We provide additional evidence for the effectiveness of GSH and CBT‐T in the treatment of non‐underweight binge/purge eating disorders. Clinical supervision is considered important in psychotherapy training, but little is known about the efficacy of specific supervision methods. We investigate two such methods (video-based vs. verbal report-based supervision) in a randomized controlled trial. Seventy-three supervisees were trained in common cognitive-behavioral therapy methods (i.e. behavioral activation and cognitive restructuring) by means of written information and a modelling video demonstrating the techniques. Supervisees had to apply the techniques in role plays with standardized patients (presenting depressive patients). Subsequently, supervisees were randomized to supervision, based on the video, or supervision based on the verbal report of the supervisees. Subsequently and after a three-month follow-up period, supervisees had to demonstrate the therapeutic techniques again. Therapist competence, therapeutic alliance, empathy, and anxiety were assessed through various different perspectives (i.e. independent raters, standardized patients, and supervisees’ self-evaluation). Both supervision conditions lead to a significant improvement of therapeutic competences, therapeutic alliance, and empathy. No significant differences were found between the two supervision conditions. At three-month follow-up, training effects decreased on all perspectives except standardized patients. A training condition without supervision would be necessary to demonstrate that improvements are specific effects of the supervision conditions. Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is the most common complication of pregnancy, affecting an estimated 16.7% of live births worldwide, which translates to approximately 21 million cases annually. Although poor sleep quality is a prevalent concern in this population, most existing studies predominantly focus on the impact of sleep disorders on GDM, rather than directly assessing sleep quality in women diagnosed with GDM. This study aimed to investigate sleep quality and its associated factors specifically among women with GDM. Methods: We originally aimed to include 287 women with GDM; ultimately, 618 were invited, of whom 393 participated in the survey through a convenience sampling method at the obstetric clinics of four general tertiary hospitals in Chongqing, China, from June to August 2022. Data were collected utilizing sociodemographic characteristics, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), the Sleep Hygiene Scale, and the Pregnancy-related Anxiety Scale (PrAS). We employed linear regression analysis to identify factors associated with sleep quality. Results: The PSQI score of participants was (5.83 ± 3.41). Notably, 43.77% of participants reported an actual sleep duration of less than 8 h per night, whereas 45.55% experienced poor sleep quality. Worrying during the day about your inability to fall asleep (β = 0.204, P < 0.01), body image concern (β = 0.159, P < 0.01), going to bed thirsty (β = 0.160, P < 0.01), educational attainment (β=-0.150, P < 0.01), avoidance (β = 0.124, P < 0.01), sleep disturbed by bed partner's sleep (β = 0.126, P < 0.01), and worrying as you prepare for bed about your inability to fall asleep (β = 0.137, P < 0.05) significantly affected the sleep quality of participants. Conclusions: The study revealed a high prevalence of insufficient sleep duration and poor sleep quality among women with GDM, which was significantly influenced by inadequate sleep hygiene habits and pregnancy-related anxiety. These findings enhance our understanding of the factors affecting sleep quality in this population and underscore the necessity for healthcare professionals to timely identify sleep disorders. Implementing appropriate interventions, such as the development of educational programs focused on sleep hygiene and body image acceptance through cognitive behavioral therapy, could enhance the quality of care for women with GDM. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a complex disorder of gut–brain interaction (DGBI) that is thought to affect a significant proportion of the population. As a result of the nature of IBS, it is hard to predict treatment efficacy as all individuals respond differently, and thus multidisciplinary treatment has become increasingly of interest as it targets multiple aspects of IBS at the same time. Here, we aim to review the literature of both multidisciplinary and single‐discipline therapy for IBS. Ovid MEDLINE was utilised with a systematic search to find relevant randomised controlled trials. The population included adults with a Rome diagnosis of IBS and an intervention that was either multidisciplinary care, diet, psychotherapy, gut‐directed hypnotherapy (GDH) or physiotherapy. Multidisciplinary care studies found an overall significant improvement, while dietary treatment was varied. A low fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides and polyols diet was the only one to improve symptoms, while gluten‐free and fibre diets had mixed evidence for their efficacy. Novel diets, including a tritordeum‐based diet and low tryptophan diet, significantly improved symptoms. Cognitive behavioural therapy was found to be efficacious when compared to controls, as was psychoeducation. GDH was also found to be efficacious, but 83.3% of studies examined a refractory IBS population. There is a lack of literature looking at how multidisciplinary care and different combinations of disciplines work to treat those with IBS in secondary care. AbstractNo evidence-based interventions exist for anxiety related to pelvic exams after cancer treatment. A 3-session cognitive behavioral intervention, Pelvic Examination and Anxiety Coping Skills for Empowerment (PEACE), was developed. We conducted a proof-of concept pilot study (N=16) to evaluate intervention acceptability and feasibility and changes in anxiety and pain symptoms. Participants completed 3 assessments (baseline, post-intervention, post-pelvic exam) and post-exam interviews. Exploratory outcomes included exam-related distress and pain, and intervention mechanisms of change. The mixed methods findings indicated preliminary acceptability (e.g., 71% endorsed PEACE “made things a lot better”) and feasibility (e.g., 87.5% completed the protocol). Objective: Several systematic reviews have shown that physical exercise positively affects motor function (MF) and quality of life (QoL) in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). After the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, numerous studies were conducted to reveal the effects of telerehabilitation for patients with PD. However, only a few empirical results of online programs for PD patients have been reported. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the effects of an online physical and cognitive training program on MF and QoL in patients with PD. Methods: We evaluated the impact of our online program on the QoL and MF of patients with PD by comparing data at baseline and after six months of intervention. For the QoL assessment, we used the Schwab and England Activities of Daily Living scale and Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39), whereas, for MF, we measured movement status using the modified 20-m walk test and timed up-and-go (TUG) test. Results: We enrolled 20 patients for QoL and 19 for MF in this study. For PDQ-39, social support (p = 0.046, δ = 0.320) and cognitions (p = 0.028, δ = 0.268) significantly improved. Additionally, cadence (p = 0.032, g = −0.377) in the modified 20-m walk and exam duration (p = 0.003, δ = 0.296) and forward gait (p = 0.003, δ = 0.341) in the TUG test showed significant differences before and after the intervention. Background: About 20–30% of older adults (≥ 65 years old) experience one or more falls each year, and falls are associated with substantial burden to the health care system, individuals, and families from resulting injuries, fractures, and reduced functioning and quality of life. Many interventions for preventing falls have been studied, and their effectiveness, factors relevant to their implementation, and patient preferences may determine which interventions to use in primary care. The aim of this set of reviews was to inform recommendations by the Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care (task force) on fall prevention interventions. We undertook three systematic reviews to address questions about the following: (i) the benefits and harms of interventions, (ii) how patients weigh the potential outcomes (outcome valuation), and (iii) patient preferences for different types of interventions, and their attributes, shown to offer benefit (intervention preferences). Methods: We searched four databases for benefits and harms (MEDLINE, Embase, AgeLine, CENTRAL, to August 25, 2023) and three for outcome valuation and intervention preferences (MEDLINE, PsycINFO, CINAHL, to June 9, 2023). For benefits and harms, we relied heavily on a previous review for studies published until 2016. We also searched trial registries, references of included studies, and recent reviews. Two reviewers independently screened studies. The population of interest was community-dwelling adults ≥ 65 years old. We did not limit eligibility by participant fall history. The task force rated several outcomes, decided on their eligibility, and provided input on the effect thresholds to apply for each outcome (fallers, falls, injurious fallers, fractures, hip fractures, functional status, health-related quality of life, long-term care admissions, adverse effects, serious adverse effects). For benefits and harms, we included a broad range of non-pharmacological interventions relevant to primary care. Although usual care was the main comparator of interest, we included studies comparing interventions head-to-head and conducted a network meta-analysis (NMAs) for each outcome, enabling analysis of interventions lacking direct comparisons to usual care. For benefits and harms, we included randomized controlled trials with a minimum 3-month follow-up and reporting on one of our fall outcomes (fallers, falls, injurious fallers); for the other questions, we preferred quantitative data but considered qualitative findings to fill gaps in evidence. No date limits were applied for benefits and harms, whereas for outcome valuation and intervention preferences we included studies published in 2000 or later. All data were extracted by one trained reviewer and verified for accuracy and completeness. For benefits and harms, we relied on the previous review team's risk-of-bias assessments for benefit outcomes, but otherwise, two reviewers independently assessed the risk of bias (within and across study). For the other questions, one reviewer verified another's assessments. Consensus was used, with adjudication by a lead author when necessary. A coding framework, modified from the ProFANE taxonomy, classified interventions and their attributes (e.g., supervision, delivery format, duration/intensity). For benefit outcomes, we employed random-effects NMA using a frequentist approach and a consistency model. Transitivity and coherence were assessed using meta-regressions and global and local coherence tests, as well as through graphical display and descriptive data on the composition of the nodes with respect to major pre-planned effect modifiers. We assessed heterogeneity using prediction intervals. For intervention-related adverse effects, we pooled proportions except for vitamin D for which we considered data in the control groups and undertook random-effects pairwise meta-analysis using a relative risk (any adverse effects) or risk difference (serious adverse effects). For outcome valuation, we pooled disutilities (representing the impact of a negative event, e.g. fall, on one's usual quality of life, with 0 = no impact and 1 = death and ~ 0.05 indicating important disutility) from the EQ-5D utility measurement using the inverse variance method and a random-effects model and explored heterogeneity. When studies only reported other data, we compared the findings with our main analysis. For intervention preferences, we used a coding schema identifying whether there were strong, clear, no, or variable preferences within, and then across, studies. We assessed the certainty of evidence for each outcome using CINeMA for benefit outcomes and GRADE for all other outcomes. Results: A total of 290 studies were included across the reviews, with two studies included in multiple questions. For benefits and harms, we included 219 trials reporting on 167,864 participants and created 59 interventions (nodes). Transitivity and coherence were assessed as adequate. Across eight NMAs, the number of contributing trials ranged between 19 and 173, and the number of interventions ranged from 19 to 57. Approximately, half of the interventions in each network had at least low certainty for benefit. The fallers outcome had the highest number of interventions with moderate certainty for benefit (18/57). For the non-fall outcomes (fractures, hip fracture, long-term care [LTC] admission, functional status, health-related quality of life), many interventions had very low certainty evidence, often from lack of data. We prioritized findings from 21 interventions where there was moderate certainty for at least some benefit. Fourteen of these had a focus on exercise, the majority being supervised (for > 2 sessions) and of long duration (> 3 months), and with balance/resistance and group Tai Chi interventions generally having the most outcomes with at least low certainty for benefit. None of the interventions having moderate certainty evidence focused on walking. Whole-body vibration or home-hazard assessment (HHA) plus exercise provided to everyone showed moderate certainty for some benefit. No multifactorial intervention alone showed moderate certainty for any benefit. Six interventions only had very-low certainty evidence for the benefit outcomes. Two interventions had moderate certainty of harmful effects for at least one benefit outcome, though the populations across studies were at high risk for falls. Vitamin D and most single-component exercise interventions are probably associated with minimal adverse effects. Some uncertainty exists about possible adverse effects from other interventions. For outcome valuation, we included 44 studies of which 34 reported EQ-5D disutilities. Admission to long-term care had the highest disutility (1.0), but the evidence was rated as low certainty. Both fall-related hip (moderate certainty) and non-hip (low certainty) fracture may result in substantial disutility (0.53 and 0.57) in the first 3 months after injury. Disutility for both hip and non-hip fractures is probably lower 12 months after injury (0.16 and 0.19, with high and moderate certainty, respectively) compared to within the first 3 months. No study measured the disutility of an injurious fall. Fractures are probably more important than either falls (0.09 over 12 months) or functional status (0.12). Functional status may be somewhat more important than falls. For intervention preferences, 29 studies (9 qualitative) reported on 17 comparisons among single-component interventions showing benefit. Exercise interventions focusing on balance and/or resistance training appear to be clearly preferred over Tai Chi and other forms of exercise (e.g., yoga, aerobic). For exercise programs in general, there is probably variability among people in whether they prefer group or individual delivery, though there was high certainty that individual was preferred over group delivery of balance/resistance programs. Balance/resistance exercise may be preferred over education, though the evidence was low certainty. There was low certainty for a slight preference for education over cognitive-behavioral therapy, and group education may be preferred over individual education. Conclusions: To prevent falls among community-dwelling older adults, evidence is most certain for benefit, at least over 1–2 years, from supervised, long-duration balance/resistance and group Tai Chi interventions, whole-body vibration, high-intensity/dose education or cognitive-behavioral therapy, and interventions of comprehensive multifactorial assessment with targeted treatment plus HHA, HHA plus exercise, or education provided to everyone. Adding other interventions to exercise does not appear to substantially increase benefits. Overall, effects appear most applicable to those with elevated fall risk. Choice among effective interventions that are available may best depend on individual patient preferences, though when implementing new balance/resistance programs delivering individual over group sessions when feasible may be most acceptable. Data on more patient-important outcomes including fall-related fractures and adverse effects would be beneficial, as would studies focusing on equity-deserving populations and on programs delivered virtually. Background: Mindfulness‐based cognitive therapy (MBCT) is effective in reducing depressive symptoms in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). Understanding for whom and how MBCT works may allow for improvements in treatment allocation and effectiveness. In this study, our aim was to investigate depressive rumination, content‐independent perseverative thinking, mindfulness skills, and self‐compassion as potential moderators and mediators of MBCT. Methods: In this non‐randomized controlled trial, patients with persistent (n = 53) or recurrent MDD with (n = 31) or without (n = 51) a current depressive episode were assigned to an intervention (MBCT plus treatment as usual [TAU], n = 94) or control group (TAU only, n = 40) based on the time between the date of inclusion and the start of MBCT. Assessments were carried out before, halfway, and after 8 weeks of MBCT + TAU or TAU. Latent growth models were employed to examine moderation, while cross‐lagged structural equation models were used to assess the mediating effects of several possible mediators of MBCT‐induced change in depressive symptoms and overall functional impairment. Results: MBCT + TAU was more effective in reducing depressive symptoms (and overall functional impairment than TAU with a medium [d = −0.54] and small [d = 0.44] effect size, respectively). Higher baseline levels of rumination and perseverative thinking and lower levels of self‐compassion moderated the effect of MBCT on depressive symptoms and overall functional impairment. Task‐based negative intrusive thoughts moderated the effects of MBCT on overall functional impairment. No mediators were established, particularly due to a lack of effect of MBCT on all assessed mediators at mid‐treatment. For interpretative purposes, a sample split (based on Johnson–Newman values) showed moderate‐to‐large effects in depressive symptom reduction for those with high rumination, high perseverative thinking, and low self‐compassion, while negative‐to‐small nonsignificant effects were found for the opposite traits. Conclusion: In the future, MBCT allocation based on levels of rumination and self‐compassion might lead to a more efficient reduction in depressive symptoms. Directions for mediation analysis within the context of MBCT for depression are discussed. Preregistration: This study was initially preregistered in the Dutch National Trial Register (NL7842). ABSTRACT This study aimed to investigate the direct and indirect influences of fathers' behavioural activation/inhibition systems (BAS/BIS) on the abuse and psychopathology of their children about the mediating role of father and child demographics using a structural equation modelling (SEM) in maltreated children. The participants of this study were 384 abused children and their fathers who were selected by a random sampling method within a cross‐sectional study. A demographic questionnaire, the Behavioral Activation/Inhibition Systems scale (BAS/BIS), the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire‐Short Form (CTQ‐SF) and the Achenbach System of Empirically Based Assessment‐Teacher's Report Form (ASEBA‐TRF) were used for data collection. The fathers' BAS/BIS with the mediating role of father and child demographics altogether explained 54% of variations in the physical, sexual, emotional and neglect dimensions of child abuse, whereas fathers' BAS/BIS with the mediating role of father and child demographics explained 88.1% of variations in all subscales of psychopathology in maltreated children. This conceptual model shows the direct and indirect effects of fathers' BAS/BIS on child abuse and childhood psychopathology with the mediating role of demographic variables. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ABSTRACT Objective Methods Results Conclusion This study aimed to evaluate the acceptability and effects of internet‐based cognitive behavioral therapy (iCBT) or CBT‐oriented interventions compared with control groups on depressive symptoms, remission of depression, and quality of life (QOL) in adolescents.We searched English and Chinese databases for randomized controlled trials up to October 10, 2024 that investigated the effects of iCBT compared with controls in adolescents exhibiting elevated depressive symptoms or diagnosed with depression. Standardized mean differences (SMDs), relative risks (RRs), and 95% confidence intervals were applied to evaluate the pooled effects of outcomes.A total of 19 RCTs involving 3574 cases were included in this study. We found small effects on depressive symptoms severity at different time points (posttest: SMD = –0.49 [–0.66, –0.33]; 3‐month follow‐up [FU3]: SMD = –0.21 [–0.30, –0.11]; FU6: SMD = –0.18 [–0.35, –0.02]; FU12: SMD = –0.38 [–0.56, –0.20]). We also found a significant effect in depression remission rate at the posttest (RR = 1.74 [1.36, 2.21]) and a significant effect in QOL at the posttest (SMD = 0.30 [0.07, 0.54]). However, the result regarding acceptability was nonsignificant (RR = 1.22 [0.76, 1.97]). No significant publication bias was found in these results.iCBT or internet‐based CBT‐oriented interventions can effectively reduce depressive symptom severity and improve depression remission rate and QOL in depressed adolescents. ABSTRACT Objective Method Results Conclusions The relationship between self‐reported interpersonal difficulties and eating disorder symptoms is well‐established. The Interpersonal Relationships in Eating Disorders (IR‐ED) is a new measure of eating‐specific interpersonal difficulties (food‐related isolation, avoidance of body evaluation, foot‐related interpersonal tension). This study aims to (1) explore changes in IR‐ED scores, eating disorder symptoms, and psychosocial impairment during ten‐session cognitive behavioral therapy for eating disorders (CBT‐T), (2) assess whether pre‐treatment IR‐ED scores moderate the trajectory of change in eating disorder symptoms and psychosocial impairment during CBT‐T and (3) investigate the relationship between changes in the IR‐ED and changes in eating disorder symptoms and psychosocial impairment.Individuals with eating disorders (N = 126, Mage = 26.08) received CBT‐T and completed questionnaires at pre‐, mid‐, and post‐treatment.Eating‐specific interpersonal difficulties, eating disorder symptoms, and psychosocial impairment reduced during CBT‐T. Severity of pre‐treatment eating‐specific interpersonal difficulties was unrelated to change in eating disorder symptoms or psychosocial impairment, irrespective of diagnosis or body mass index. Changes in interpersonal difficulties were associated with concurrent changes in eating disorder symptoms and psychosocial impairment. Early change in interpersonal difficulties did not predict later change in eating disorder symptoms or psychosocial impairment, and early changes in symptoms or psychosocial impairment did not predict later changes in interpersonal difficulties.Eating‐specific interpersonal difficulties improve during CBT‐T, and individuals benefit from treatment regardless of their pre‐treatment interpersonal difficulties. Social support is protective in the recovery from mental health diagnoses. However, well‐intended support can also interfere with treatment, as in the case of accommodation, when a support person changes their behaviors to alleviate a patient's distress. This paper describes a scoping review of the research literature regarding posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) and accommodation, conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items extension for Scoping Review Guidelines (PRISMA‐ScR). A total of 26 articles were included in the review. Designs and settings were mixed, but most studies examined accommodation by female adult intimate partners of male military members, veterans, and first responders with PTSS. Most participants were White. Accommodation was typically associated with negative relationship outcomes, and some couples treatments (e.g., cognitive behavioral conjoint therapy interventions) were associated with improvements in PTSS accommodation. Future work on PTSS accommodation should prioritize recruiting more diverse participants (i.e., gender, race, ethnicity, military status, types of support people). In addition, researchers should continue to examine accommodation as a mediator or moderator variable. This study aimed to understand how therapists might encourage clients to continue therapy attendance.Using conversation analysis, we analysed regularities that occurred between the information gathering phase and rebooking in a corpus of initial psychology interviews.We describe a commonly occurring ‘stock‐taking’ activity wherein therapists discussed progress through a set of interrelated concerns (clients' problems, problem causes, problem interventions, and positive outcomes). Both clients and therapists oriented towards stock‐taking being enacted in service of encouraging clients to continue with therapy.These findings offer practical guidance about one way that therapists might encourage clients to continue therapy. Background: Technology-enabled services (TES; clinical services that include both technology-driven [e.g., personal sensing technologies] and person-powered support elements) may address gaps in depression and anxiety treatments in healthcare settings. The current study: (1) developed a TES tailored for Primary Care patients with depression and/or anxiety, and (2) conducted a pilot randomized controlled trial to assess the efficacy of the TES compared to a digital psychoeducation control app. Methods: Participants were randomized to either: (1) TES: the "Vira" smartphone app (Ksana Health Inc.), informed by behavioral activation and using passive sensing technology to provide behavioral "insights" and target behaviors associated with mental health symptoms, alongside lay-provider coaching, or (2) Control: the Mood Education mobile app (ME), containing static psychoeducational resources designed to target mental health symptoms. Both apps collected usage data. Participants completed assessments on depression (PHQ-9), anxiety (GAD-7), health-related quality of life (PedsQL), and engagement (TWEETs) at baseline, mid-treatment (week 4), end-of-treatment (week 8), and post-treatment (week 12). Results: Participants (N = 130) were randomized to receive either the TES (Vira; Mage= 30) or ME (Mage= 33). Linear mixed-effects models determined significant improvements in PHQ-9 and GAD-7 scores for participants across both conditions (ps < 0.001). There was no interactive effect of intervention and time for the PHQ-9 (p =.90) nor the GAD-7 (p =.49). Adjusting for baseline differences and randomization strata, TES participants reported a greater change in a quality of life rating of Physical Functioning (PedsQL) across time (p =.018). TES participants also reported higher levels of engagement and demonstrated higher app usage. However, adjusting for baseline symptom severity, neither app usage nor coach interaction frequency moderated outcomes (ps ≥ 0.2). Conclusions: While the TES demonstrated superior engagement, improvements in depressive and anxious symptoms for both conditions speak to the potential benefit of both TES and low-intensity psychoeducation treatments in care settings. Future research is needed to better understand which patients might differentially benefit from TESs and broader personal sensing technologies over low-intensity treatments. Background: High prevalence of depression or anxiety with opioid use for chronic pain complicates co-management and may influence prescribing behaviors. Objective: Compare clinical effectiveness of electronic medical record clinical decision support (EMR-CDS) versus additional behavioral health (BH) care management for reducing rates of high-dose opioid prescriptions. Design: Type 2 effectiveness-implementation hybrid stepped-wedge cluster randomized trial in 35 primary care clinics within a health system in LA, USA. Participants: Patients aged 18+ receiving chronic opioid therapy for non-cancer pain with depression or anxiety and matched controls. Intervention: EMR-CDS included opioid risk mitigation procedures. BH care included cognitive behavioral therapy; depression or anxiety medication adjustments; and case management. Main Measures: Outcomes of interest included difference-in-difference (DID) estimate of changes in probability for prescribing high-dose morphine equivalent daily dose (MEDD ≥50 mg/day and MEDD ≥90), average MEDD, and rates of hospitalization, emergency department use, and opioid risk mitigation. Key Results: Most participants were female with 3+ pain syndromes. Data analysis included 632 patients. Absolute risk differences for MEDD≥50 and ≥90 decreased post-index compared to pre-index (DID of absolute risk difference [95%CI]: −0.036 [−0.089, 0.016] and −0.029 [−0.060, 0.002], respectively). However, these differences were not statistically significant. The average MEDD decreased at a higher rate for the BH group compared to EMR-CDS only (DID rate ratio [95%CI]: 0.85 [0.77, 0.93]). There were no changes in hospitalization and emergency department utilization. The BH group had higher probabilities of new specialty referrals and prescriptions for naloxone and antidepressants. Conclusions: Incorporation of a multidisciplinary behavioral health care team into primary care did not decrease high-dose prescribing; however, it improved adherence to clinical guideline recommendations for managing chronic opioid therapy for non-cancer pain. Introduction: Identifying prognostic factors of treatment outcome may assist in customizing an intervention to a patient's needs. Hence, we conducted a secondary analysis of data from a randomized controlled trial to investigate the effectiveness of an internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (iCBT-I) to find patient characteristics that may predict the change of insomnia severity after treatment. Materials and methods: In this exploratory analysis involving 94 chronic insomnia patients, we examined the predictive value of several self-reported measures, medical history, and sociodemographic variables to psychological distress with separate linear regression models. The main outcome was the Insomnia Severity Index score improvement from pre- to post-treatment Results: The study found that duration of insomnia, b (SE) = −0.02 (0.01), p = 0.01, and attitudes about the expected treatment success, b (SE) = 0.80 (0.27), p = 0.004, were predictors of a better outcome. Moreover, a better outcome was associated with a lower level of the following traits: attention seeking, b (SE) = −1.06 (0.51), p = 0.04; grandiosity, b (SE) = −1.50 (0.57), p = 0.01; distractibility, b (SE) = −1.57 (0.75), p = 0.04; and rigid perfectionism, b (SE) = −1.32 (0.65), p = 0.05. Conclusion: Our results suggest that iCBT-I might be particularly beneficial for patients with higher expectations from the therapy and those who have a shorter duration of insomnia. Some pronounced personality traits, such as attention seeking, grandiosity, distractibility, and rigid perfectionism, may predict worse outcomes. However, because this was a post-hoc analysis, our results must be considered exploratory and verified in further studies. Research has identified Internet gaming addiction as a new and often unrecognized clinical disorder that impacts users' ability to control Internet gaming use, which can lead to relational, work, and social problems. The locus of control is a factor in controlling the use of Internet games. Researchers have suggested using cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) as the treatment of choice for Internet addiction. This paper presents the findings of a study that utilized an A‐B‐A single‐case research design to explore the impact of CBT on enhancing internal locus of control and reducing Internet gaming addiction. The participants in this study were three high school students (N = 3) who exhibited a high level of Internet gaming addiction and a predominantly external locus of control. CBT intervention was provided in six sessions. Treatment focused on modified cognitive distortion and developing positive behavior using the down arrow technique, acting as if, shaping, problem‐solving, and behavior reinforcement. Participants completed the Game Addiction Scale for Adolescents and the Locus of Control Scale for Game Addiction. Data were obtained at three distinct phases: before, during, and after the CBT intervention. Results show that CBT reduced Internet gaming addiction and enhanced internal locus of control both during and after the intervention, indicating its potential as an effective treatment for students with gaming addiction issues. Objectives Method Results Conclusions Self‐guided internet‐delivered cognitive behaviour therapy (ICBT) is an effective treatment for obsessive‐compulsive disorder (OCD); however, there is little research investigating who dropouts of treatment. Therefore, the aim of this study was to conduct an exploratory study of predictors of dropout in self‐guided ICBT for OCD. Given that definitions of dropout vary across ICBT studies, we conceptualized dropout in multiple ways: (1) early dropout (proportion of participants who did not complete the pre‐treatment questionnaires); (2) proportion of participants who did not commence the intervention; (3) proportion of participants who did not complete the treatment; and (4) proportion of participants who did not complete the post‐treatment questionnaires.This was a secondary data analysis of 323 participants with OCD symptoms who provided a successful screening assessment to commence an ICBT intervention. Binary logistic regression was used to predict dropout based on a number of exploratory variables.Early dropout was predicted by the country of the participant (participants in the United Kingdom and India being more likely to dropout), as well as shorter symptom duration (explaining 7% of the variance). Medication use predicted non‐completion of the intervention with those taking medication for OCD being less likely to complete the treatment (explaining 3% of the variance). Completion of the post‐treatment questionnaires was predicted by higher contamination symptoms, lower depressive symptoms and higher pre‐treatment conscientiousness (explaining 13% of the variance). The uptake of evidence‐based treatment is low, with many individuals with GAD citing cost as one of the key barriers. Brief treatments, which are typically more cost effective than standard length treatments, have the potential to make treatment more accessible to patients with GAD. Despite evidence demonstrating the efficacy of brief treatments for a range of anxiety disorders, there are currently no such studies examining brief Internet videoconferencing‐delivered cognitive behavioural therapy (VCBT) interventions for patients with diagnosed GAD. The current study aims to examine the preliminary efficacy and acceptability of brief VCBT for GAD.The authors adopted an open trial design with 36 participants (77.8% female; Mage = 36.81 years; SD = 12.25) to examine the preliminary efficacy of a brief five‐session VCBT intervention delivered remotely.Large pre‐treatment to post‐treatment effects were seen on the primary outcome measure, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Questionnaire‐7 item (GAD‐7; d = 1.13; 95% CI: .62–1.61) and treatment effects increased at 3‐month follow‐up (d = 1.58; 95% CI: 1.04–2.10). Participants rated the intervention as highly acceptable with 92% reporting that they were satisfied with the treatment.These results provide preliminary support for the viability of brief remotely delivered CBT treatment in managing GAD symptoms. Background: Primary results of the International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials Network (IMPAACT) 2002 trial showed that cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and medication management algorithm (MMA) (COMB-R) significantly improved depression in youth with HIV (YWH) compared with enhanced standard care (ESC). Acceptability and satisfaction were examined among study participants and clinicians.Method: Between March 2017 and March 2019, 13 U.S. sites enrolled YWH, aged 12–24, diagnosed with nonpsychotic depression. Sites were randomised to either COMB-R (CBT by a therapist and licensed prescriber) or ESC (standard psychotherapy and medication management). After the intervention (week 24), participants, prescribers, and therapists rated acceptability and satisfaction. We compared site-level means using Wilcoxon tests.Results: Both COMB-R (n = 69) and ESC (n = 71) participants had a mean age of 21.4 years, with 53% female, and 54% having acquired HIV perinatally. Baseline age, sex, depression levels, RNA viral load, and CD4 count were comparable between arms. The distribution of site-level mean participant acceptability was greater in COMB-R compared with ESC (p = 0.04). The distribution of site-level mean prescriber satisfaction was greater in COMB-R (p = 0.01). The was no evidence that the site-level mean therapist satisfaction did not differ between arms (p = 0.52).Discussion: Acceptability and satisfaction for participants and licensed prescribers were higher at COMB-R sites compared with standard of care, indicating that this tailored, manual-guided, collaborative, measured care intervention was less burdensome in terms of the number of visits. Patient and medication provider satisfaction rates were higher than standard of care.Conclusion: While these results support the use of CBT and MMA in treating depression among YWH, further research is required to determine generalisability. Background: Attentional bias is a salient manifestation of insomnia. Digital cognitive therapy for insomnia (dCBT-I) has been validated as effective in alleviating this cognitive dysfunction. However, the effect of dCBT-I on attentional bias among Chinese individuals with insomnia remains undiscussed. This research sought to investigate this effect via a pictorial dot-probe task. Methods: In Study 1, the pattern of attentional bias among poor sleepers (N = 52) and normal sleepers (N = 56) was assessed by the dot-probe task. In study 2, dCBT-I and conventional education were received by the experimental group (N = 42) and control group (N = 25), respectively. The dot-probe tasks and sleep quality assessments were completed at baseline and post-test. Results: The results of Study 1 indicated that poor sleepers exhibited significant attentional bias, characterized by increased attentional vigilance. Compared to normal sleepers, they showed heightened attentional vigilance toward sleep-related cues. The results of Study 2 showed that both dCBT-I and conventional education led to improvements in PSQI scores. However, only dCBT-I training alleviated attentional vigilance toward sleep-related cues. Additionally, dCBT-I was uniquely effective in reducing feelings of fatigue. Conclusions: Poor sleepers had a significant attentional bias, marked by heightened vigilance toward sleep-related cues. Digital CBT-I effectively reduced attentional vigilance and fatigue, suggesting that dCBT-I targets the cognitive distortions associated with insomnia. Background: Cognitive impairment is common in Parkinson's disease (PD) but has limited treatment options. Medication has shown some benefits but accompanied by risk of adverse events. We aimed to investigate effectiveness and feasibility of nonpharmacological interventions for people with PD and cognitive impairment on patient‐centred outcomes. Methods: Systematic searches of five databases (MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, PsycINFO and Web of Science) were performed for studies evaluating nonpharmacological interventions for people with PD and cognitive impairment, reporting health‐related quality of life, function (activities of daily living) or wellbeing outcomes, published up to 15 May 2023. Two reviewers independently assessed full‐text articles and one reviewer extracted data, with a second reviewer reliability checking all data extraction. Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) were synthesised through meta‐analysis using a random‐effects meta‐analysis with restricted maximum likelihood method pooled estimate and observational studies through narrative synthesis. Results: Eleven RCTs and three noncontrolled studies were included, studying a range of interventions: cognitive training, cognitive stimulation, cognitive rehabilitation, physical and cognitive exercise, goal management training, psychoeducation with mindfulness, broader rehabilitation programs and a psychological intervention. Feasibility was demonstrated. The majority showed effectiveness for their primary outcome. Meta‐analysis showed no significant improvement in HrQoL (seven RCTs: pooled effect, standardised mean difference, −0.20 [−0.57−0.18]) or function (four RCTs: 0.08 [−0.36, 0.52]), and wellbeing measurement was infrequent and indirect. Quality of evidence was judged as very low, limiting the conclusions drawn. Conclusion: Whilst nonpharmacological trials for cognitive impairment in PD have shown promise, we found no evidence of effectiveness on HrQoL, function or wellbeing. However, this is based on very low‐quality evidence from a small number of diverse studies, not powered for these outcomes. Feasibility of a range of interventions has been demonstrated in both PD‐mild cognitive impairment and PD‐dementia. There is a need for more robust, adequately powered studies. Objectives and Design Methods Results Conclusion This qualitative study aimed to explore the treatment experiences of children and young people with Post‐traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms, participating in a randomised controlled trial evaluating the effectiveness of Cognitive‐Therapy for PTSD (CT‐PTSD).Thirteen participants aged between 12 and 18 years old, who had all experienced multiple trauma and had undertaken CT‐PTSD, were interviewed.Using thematic analysis, three key themes were identified: ‘Desire for difference’, ‘Journey of becoming able to talk about trauma’ and ‘Positive changes and increased ability to cope’. Prior to the study, participants described experiencing difficult emotions and avoided talking about their traumatic experiences. Participants reported wanting to get the right help and valued the opportunity to help others. Talking about trauma during treatment was perceived as difficult and emotionally draining, however participants reported a sense of relief and that it became easier over time, helping them to make sense of their traumatic experiences. This was facilitated by the therapeutic relationship, their involvement in decision making and the use of written tasks. All participants reported positive changes, both in themselves and in their ability to talk to others about their traumatic experiences.Engaging in CT‐PTSD and talking about traumatic experiences can be empowering for young people and allows them the opportunity to process their trauma leading to increased ability to cope. Simple Summary: Insomnia is prevalent in patients with cancer, with rates ranging from 30% to 60%. Addressing insomnia remains important in this population, as it can improve patient quality of life and reduce suffering. However, inconsistent methods of defining insomnia and evaluating potential interventions renders treatment difficult. Furthermore, many factors influence insomnia's presentation, requiring a specialized and individualized approach to its management for each patient. This review sought to use thorough and strict criteria to assess current psychological intervention for insomnia. To this end, we describe current psychological treatment options for insomnia, highlight gaps in the existing research, and offer suggestions for treating insomnia in patients with cancer. Background/Objectives: Insomnia is a frequent and distressing symptom with limited treatment in patients with cancer. Among the available treatments for insomnia, psychological interventions are some of the most assessed. While studies and reviews show promise of interventions improving insomnia in patients with cancer, inconsistent approaches to operationalizing and measuring insomnia combined with the heterogeneity of available treatments render comparisons and synthetization difficult. This review sought to rigorously synthesize psychological interventions for patients with cancer and insomnia by describing current therapies, identifying gaps in the literature, and offering supportive interventions. Methods: A comprehensive search of five databases—Ovid MEDLINE, Ovid Embase, Ovid PsycInfo, EBSCO CINAHL Plus with Full Text, and Cochrane Library—was conducted through 1 August 2024. The review included randomized trials and non-inferiority trials evaluating psychological interventions for patients with various types of cancers. Twenty-one studies were included, and study quality ranged from good to excellent, according to the PEDro scale. Results: The current evidence supports the use of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to treat insomnia over and above psychoeducation alone, mindfulness-based stress reduction, Brief Behavioral Therapy, the Benson Relaxation Technique, progressive muscle relaxation, mindfulness meditation, mind-body bridging, and home-based psychological nursing. Digital, minimal, and internet-based intervention modalities are effective, though professional-delivered CBT proved most effective. Conclusions: CBT remains the most effective psychological intervention for insomnia in this population. Challenges exist regarding the implementation of CBT, so further research is warranted to identify the best psychological interventions for specific settings and subsets of patients with cancer. Background: There is an increased demand for quality treatment and rehabilitation services for people who use drugs (PWUDs) in the Philippines. In response, the Philippines Government's Department of Health (DOH) has established a new residential treatment model, Intensive Treatment and Rehabilitation Program for Residential Treatment and Rehabilitation Centers (INTREPRET), and integrated it into the existing treatment service platform of 21 DOH-owned Treatment and Rehabilitation Centers (TRCs). We conducted a qualitative study to identify the changes engendered by the implementation of this treatment model. Methods: Data were collected through individual face-to-face interviews. We interviewed purposefully selected 29 patients and 35 facilitators of INTREPRET group sessions in seven TRCs. We transcribed the interview records and organized the narrative information into key themes using thematic analysis during the coding process. Results: The changes perceived by the study participants included the attitude and behavior of patients, attitude and competency of facilitators, relationship between facilitators and patients, treatment planning and review process, efficient and standardized treatment services, and monitoring mechanisms of the patient's recovery process. Participants also noted challenges in INTREPRET implementation, including family participation in therapy sessions, lack of facilitators, securing a conducive place for conducting sessions, and reproducing workbooks. Conclusions: The results imply that the introduction of INTREPRET could improve treatment service quality and the effectiveness of treatment, which were primarily associated with behavioral changes in patients, improved relationship between patients and facilitators, and INTREPRET's alignment with key international treatment standards. However, despite the positive changes perceived by the participants, certain challenges pertaining to family participation in therapy sessions and the lack of resources were identified. These criticisms must be addressed by DOH, along with an integration of INTREPRET into its policy and strategic framework, to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of the new treatment model. Major depressive disorder (MDD) represents a sizable economic burden in Spain. Pharmacogenetic (PGx) screening to guide the choice of antidepressant medication (ADM) in MDD patients yields higher response and remission rates, which could reduce both healthcare and indirect costs. We built a cost-effectiveness probabilistic Markov model with microsimulation using Tree Age Pro 2022, simulating a patient cohort from the SNHS starting ADM for MDD, and comparing PGx screening before starting ADM versus no screening (No PGx). We carried out a probabilistic sensitivity analysis using the Monte Carlo simulation with microsimulation, set for 1000 iterations and 1000 microsimulation trials, both from societal and healthcare provider perspectives, for a time horizon of 3 years. From a societal perspective, the model estimated a mean cost of 3172.85€ and effectiveness of 2.64 quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) for the No PGx strategy, and a mean cost of 1687.02€ and effectiveness of 2.84 QALYs for the PGx strategy. The mean ICER was −7820.56 €/QALY. From a healthcare provider perspective (no indirect costs considered), the mean cost was 662.62€ for the No PGx strategy, and 446.60€ for the PGx strategy. The mean ICER was −1130.16 €/QALY. The heterogeneity of input data from the literature, the need for assumptions of homogeneous distribution of variables and events across population and time, and the inherent limitations of cost-effectiveness analysis should be considered. The model omits combined therapies (ADMs with mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, cognitive behavioral therapy...). Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is a high-prevalence mental disorder among children and adolescents. The aim of this study is to compare and rank the effectiveness of several psychotherapies for SAD among children and adolescents. Only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were utilized by searching PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science. We used network meta-analysis in the Bayesian framework to analyze the data. This study is registered with PROSPERO, number CRD42023476829. In total, 30 RCTs with 1547 individuals were included, and nine psychotherapies with three control conditions were compared and ranked in this study. The findings revealed that internet-delivered cognitive behavioural therapy (surface under the cumulative ranking curve [SUCRA: 71.2 %]), group cognitive behavioural therapy (SUCRA: 68.4 %), and individual cognitive behavioural therapy (SUCRA: 66.0 %) significantly reduced social anxiety symptoms; internet-delivered cognitive behavioural therapy also significantly decreased depression symptoms in these patients (SUCRA: 92.2 %). In addition, group cognitive behavioural therapy can enhance functioning in these patients (SUCRA: 89.6 %). These results suggest that internet-delivered cognitive behavioural therapy is the optimal type of psychotherapy for reducing social anxiety and depression symptoms in children and adolescents with SAD, internet-delivered parent-child interaction therapy and cognitive bias modification of interpretation have relatively poor treatment effects on social anxiety symptoms in children than other psychological interventions, and group cognitive behavioural therapy has better benefits in enhancing the functioning among children and adolescents with SAD. Super Skills for Life is a structured intervention rooted in cognitive-behavioral therapy and a transdiagnostic approach, aimed at preventing childhood emotional problems. Over the past decade, it has demonstrated positive outcomes in various formats and countries. This study evaluated the comparative effectiveness of two individual modalities: the computerized and the traditional version enriched with multimedia content, through a comparative randomized effectiveness trial. 109 children (55.24 % female) aged 8–12 years participated, randomly assigned to either the traditional (n = 54) or computerized (n = 51) groups. Pre- and post-intervention assessments involved emotional problem measures completed by children and parents. Both groups exhibited significant reductions in all outcomes according to parent reports, including depression, anxiety, and anxiety-related life interference. Children's self-reports indicated improvements across all general measures. Generalized Estimating Equations indicated marginally better improvements in the traditional group. Limitations included the absence of follow-up assessment, variability in participant regions across Spain, and input from other informants like teachers. To evaluate the effects of different interventions on adolescent internet addiction, a meta-analysis and network meta-analysis were performed to determine the possible intervention effects of these interventions. Computer searches of the China National Knowledge Network, Wanfang, VIP, EMBASE, PubMed, Web of Science, EBSCO, and Cochrane Library databases were performed. The relevant randomized controlled trials were designed to assess the effects of interventions on adolescent internet addiction. The retrieval period ranged from the establishment of the database to January 31, 2024. Literature screening, data extraction, and bias risk assessment were carried out independently by two researchers. CMA 3.3, Stata 17.0 software and Review Manager 5.3 were used for the data analysis. A total of 89 studies with 6876 samples were included. A traditional meta-analysis of 51 single interventions and controlled studies revealed that sports intervention, cognitive behavior therapy, family therapy, mindfulness intervention, attention bias training and group counseling significantly improved adolescent Internet addiction [standardized mean difference (SMD) = −1.75, 95 % CI (−2.07, −1.44), p < 0.01; I2 = 94 %] compared to no-treatment groups. A network meta-analysis showed that combined intervention (Sucra = 93.5) had the highest probability of being the best intervention for adolescent Internet addiction, and acupuncture interventions showed the most promise as a single intervention modality; however, due to the limited number of studies, we believe that sports intervention could be the most appropriate single intervention. The evidence provided by existing studies shows that compared with other single interventions, combined interventions have the greatest effect on adolescent IA, and sports may be the best single intervention. Background: Both night-eating syndrome and binge-eating disorder are characterized by episodes of excessive food consumption, significant distress, and functional impairment related to maladaptive eating behaviors. Both types of eating disorders are associated with poorer sleep quality. Cognitive behavioral therapy has demonstrated good outcomes for binge-eating disorder; however, it is unknown if it is effective for night-eating syndrome and comorbid insomnia. Case presentation: The current paper presents a case report of a Dutch woman in her 40's receiving cognitive behavioral therapy-enhanced for night-eating syndrome, as well as binge-eating disorder. However, to tailor the intervention to her specific needs, throughout the course of treatment, cognitive behavioral therapy-insomnia interventions were also implemented. Her comorbid complaints were insomnia, childhood trauma, a depressive mood disorder, and cluster B and C personality traits. She had a history of bariatric surgery, as well as alcohol addiction, and received various treatments in the past, aiming to become abstinent from binge eating. Conclusions: Post-treatment, she was abstinent from binge eating and, her scores of various eating disorder measures were below clinical cut-points. However, it is unclear if she would show earlier symptom reduction if she received cognitive behavioral therapy-insomnia, prior to cognitive behavioral therapy-enhanced. In addition, the patient reported an increase in her depressive mood and commenced schema therapy after cognitive behavioral therapy- enhanced. Background and aims: Cancer and its treatments may cause neurocognitive impairments in preschool children, but there is limited research on the neurocognitive outcomes of this population. This study, which assessed the neurocognitive function of preschool children with cancer and analyzed various influencing factors of neurocognitive functioning, is of significant importance. We aimed to investigate neurocognitive function and related risk factors in preschool children with cancer to inform preventive and intervention strategies. Methods: From September 2023 to May 2024, we recruited 100 preschool children with cancer. The Chinese version of the Ages & Stages Questionnaires, the Spence Preschool Anxiety Scale Chinese Version, and the Sleep Disturbance Scale for Children were used to collected data. Binary logistic stepwise regression analysis was used to explore the influencing factors of neurocognitive function in preschool children with cancer. Results: 49% of the preschool children with cancer had abnormalities in at least one neurocognitive dimension. The majority of children had abnormalities in gross motor dimension, accounting for 30%, which was related to age and frequency of participation in neurocognitive activities. Communication dimension was related to father's education level, dietary habit, and frequency of participation in activities. Fine motor dimension was associated with age, sex, and father's education level. Problem-solving dimension was associated with age and dietary habit. Personal-social dimension was related to age and radiotherapy. Conclusions: Nearly half of preschool children with cancer experienced neurocognitive impairment. The Chinese version of the Ages & Stages Questionnaires is a simple and effective tool for screening children with possible neurocognitive impairment. It was found that children's neurocognitive function was significantly influenced by family environment, dietary habit, cognitive activities, and cancer treatment. Therefore, it is recommended to strengthen family and social support, and to formulate personalized intervention such as cognitive therapy and dietary adjustment based on children's age and family background, which are important for promoting neurocognitive recovery. This study sought to develop a process model of cognitive analytic reflective practice (CARP) groups.Constructivist grounded theory approach supplemented by quantitative measures of helpfulness and group cohesion.Twenty‐four participants, working within four staff teams in a secure children's home, attended four CARP groups over a 1‐year period. Sessions were audio recorded, transcribed and checked for model fidelity and then analysed using grounded theory. Theoretical sampling was achieved via conducting focus groups with teams informed by the emergent categories, and using sessional measures of group cohesion and helpfulness to confirm theoretical saturation.The model constructed had three interrelated main categories: ‘facilitator processes: establishing a reflective space’, ‘group processes: widening awareness of the self, others, and system’ and ‘outcomes: changing relational dynamics and finding exits.’ The model was validated by evidence from the measures.The model offers an empirical understanding of how CAT informs reflective practice through a better understanding of reciprocity in the dynamics of care systems. The aim of this study was to assess the effects of an 8-week cognitive-motor training program on postural control and knee proprioception under single and dual task conditions. Design: Randomized clinical trial. Methods: The present study was registered with the ID number NCT04786132. A total of 20 healthy and physically active older adults (73.25 ± 5.98 years) volunteered to participate and were randomly assigned into an experimental and a control group (EG and CG). Postural control was measured with the Romberg test, with open (RBOE) and closed eyes (RBCE) and under unipodal dominant side (RUDL) conditions. Proprioception was assessed by measuring participants' ability to reposition their dominant knee at 45°. Finally, performance of the cognitive task was measured through a subscale of the Barcelona Test called "categorical evocation in associations". The EG and the CG completed 8-week training programs with two sessions, 30 min per week, of postural control and proprioception exercises. The EG additionally included music in each session. Results: The analysis using a mixed ANOVA model revealed no significant group × time interaction effects (p < 0.05) for any of the assessments. However, a significant main effect for the time factor was observed, with both the control and experimental groups showing improved outcomes in the post-intervention measurements. Specifically, significant results were found for RBOE (F (4,15) = 11.87, p < 0.001, η2p = 0.76), RBCE (F (4,15) = 11.62, p < 0.001, η2p = 0.75), and proprioception (F (1,18) = 11.53, p < 0.003, η2p = 0.39). Conclusions: The 8-week training program had a positive impact on the post-intervention results for motor control and proprioception, but not on the results of the cognitive task. The two-week Home Base Intensive Clinical Program (ICP) provides treatment to veterans and active duty service members suffering from primary diagnoses of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), anxiety, or depression. First launched in 2015, this paper provides a programmatic update, including new treatment components implemented since inception, and examines outcomes for all participants who entered the program from September 2015 to July 2024 (n = 2561). The Home Base ICP provides a massed care approach through daily individual Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Unified Protocol, or cognitive rehabilitation, along with groups targeting coping skills. Participants entering the program are provided with core group programming, as well as individualized therapy sessions tailored to their unique needs and symptom presentation. Supplemental dual recovery support is also available for all participants with co-occurring substance use or behavioral addiction concerns. Participants' support people receive education, support, and case management services. Participants have a multidisciplinary team comprising therapists, psychopharmacology providers, case managers, nurses, and wellness providers. Results demonstrate that program participants exhibited statistically significant reductions in PTSD symptoms (Cohen's d = 0.80), depression (d = 0.68), post-concussion symptoms (d = 0.71), and increased satisfaction in social roles (d = -0.65). Completion rate was 94.60% (n = 2422), suggesting that the Home Base ICP is a well-received and effective model of care for veterans and service members. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
