A redução das janelas de semeadura e a intensificação da produção no sistema de semeadura direta impulsionaram o aumento na frequência de utilização de máquinas, provocando compactação pelo tráfego. A compactação, além de prejudicar o desenvolvimento das raízes das plantas, aumenta a demanda de potência dos implementos justificando a utilização de escarificadores para a descompactação do solo. Avaliou-se o desempenho de dois escarificadores (Haste + ponteira), sendo um comercial e um experimental, com vistas a entender a operação de escarificação quando adaptada ao sistema de semeadura direta, utilizando como parâmetros variáveis energéticas e de solo. O elemento descompactador experimental teve um desempenho superior ao comercial nas principais variáveis estudadas, tais como consumo de combustível, potência e força de tração. Quando à frente dos elementos descompactadores o disco de corte não alterou a força de tração mas reduziu o consumo de combustível e a potência. O aumento da velocidade proporcionou incremento da força de tração, potência e consumo de combustível. Reduction in sowing period and intensification of production in no-tillage system, promoted an increase in the frequency of the use of machines and implements, causing compaction of soil due to traffic. The compaction, in addition to affecting the development of plant roots, increases the power demand of the implements, justifying the use of chisel plows for soil decompactation. The performance of two chisel plows (Shank + tip), one commercial and one experimental, was evaluated to understand the chiseling (scarification) operation adapted to no-tillage system and compare two chisel plows, using as parameters such as energy and soil variables. The experimental decompactation element performed better in comparison to commercial, in key variables, such as fuel consumption, power and traction force. When installed ahead of descompactation elements the cutting disc did not alter the traction force and reduced the fuel consumption and power. The increase in the speed provided an increase in traction force, power and fuel consumption.

Farming systems may affect soil properties and crop production of components, decreasing yields. This study aimed to assess penetration resistance (PR) and agronomic traits of soybeans under no-tillage (NT) and chiseling (CP). The experiment was carried out in a randomized block with two treatments (tillage and scarification) with 12 repetitions; yet soil penetration resistance (PR) was assessed in a factorial block, considering farming systems and sampling sites (row and interrows). PR was measured with an impact penetrometer, sampling in row and interrows within a 22.5 x 0.1 m2 mesh grid up to 0.60 m depth. The obtained values were higher for NT in the 0.10-0.20 m layer. Great PR values in interrows were only registered within the surface layer. This is because there was no soil mobilization by seeder chisel plow. In chiseled soil, compaction was reduced, however, the first tractor passings were able to compact the soil to a depth of 0.50 m. Therefore, scarification reduced the plant stand and penetration resistance, allowing greater growth and soybean yield.

This study sought to understand the capacity of different management systems of the wetland soil for the maintenance of a physical environment capable of reducing the effect of hypoxia during the cycle dryland crops, as well as the relationship between soil management systems And the agronomic performance of the rainfed crops used in rotation with the irrigated rice. To meet the objective, dryland crops were cultivated in wetland area in the agricultural years of 2014/2015 (YEAR I) and 2015/2016 (YEAR II). In YEAR I, the soybean crop was planted in 3 management systems (conventional, chiseling and ridge). In YEAR II, four cultivars of soybean and a variety of maize were cultivated in 4 management systems (conventional, chiseling, ridge and chiseling + ridge). The four soybean cultivars consisted of different maturation groups (hyper-precocious to semi-late). This year, after the cultivation of soybeans, winter forages were cultivated (black oats, ryegrass and consortium ryegrass with black oats). The experimental design was in randomized blocks with 4 replicates. In YEAR II the experiment with soybean had the plots subdivided with the different maturation groups and afterwards with the different forage arrangements. In order to evaluate the hydro-physical properties modification caused by the different proposed treatments, soil density, total porosity, macroporosity, microporosity, saturated soil hydraulic conductivity, soil water infiltration rate, random roughness and the mean slope of the ridge in two years at three different times (at seeding, at 45 and 140 days after seeding: 0 DAS, 45 DAS and 140 DAS, respectively). In addition, a penetration resistance test was carried at 45 DAS in the YEARS I and II. Plant performance was measured by leaf chlorophyll content, established plants and grain yield for corn and soybean crops. The leaf area index in the soybean crop had also been measured. For the evaluation of the performance of the winter forages was measured the dry matter production of the aerial part. Chiseling alone or accompanied by the construction of the ridge provided a physical environment with greater drainage (infiltration rate), greater pore space occupied by air (macroporosity) and less resistance to penetration than conventional management systems and only with ridge. However, these effects are less intense over time and concentrate at depths smaller than the working depth of the scarifier stem. The shape obtained with the construction of the ridge suffered accommodation of approximately 41% in the crest / furrow slope during the summer period. The chiseling increased the productivity of soybeans, maize and forages in wetland soils, whether this is an isolated practice or associated to the construction of ridges. Ridges isolates construction had a contrasting effect on the soybean production in the two agricultural years, because it did not differ from the conventional system or because it resembled the chiseling and chiseling with ridge. There was no conclusive relationship between soybean cycle and its relation with grain yield. The results show that the chiseling helps to improve the hydro-physical properties responsible for reducing stress due to oxygen deficiency in wetland soils. However, the excess rainfall reduces the benefits provided by this management. Este estudo buscou compreender a capacidade que diferentes sistemas de manejo do solo de várzea possuem para a manutenção de um ambiente físico capaz de diminuir o efeito da hipóxia ao longo do ciclo de culturas de sequeiro, bem como a relação existente entre sistemas de manejo do solo e o desempenho agronômico das culturas de sequeiro utilizadas na rotação com o arroz irrigado. Para atender ao objetivo, foram cultivadas culturas de sequeiro em área de várzea nos anos agrícolas de 2014/2015 (ANO I) e 2015/2016 (ANO II). No ANO I, a cultura da soja foi semeada em 3 sistemas de manejo (convencional, escarificado e camalhão) em um Gleissolo Melânico. No ANO II, em um Gleissolo Háplico, quatro cultivares de soja e uma variedade de milho foram cultivadas em 4 sistemas de manejo (convencional, escarificado, camalhão e escarificado+camalhão). As quatro cultivares de soja constaram de distintos grupos de maturação (hiper-precoce a semi-tardio). Nesse ano, após o cultivo da soja, foram cultivadas forrageiras hibernais (aveia preta, azevém e consórcio de azevém com aveia-preta). O delineamento experimental foi em blocos ao acaso com 4 repetições. No ANO II o experimento com soja teve as parcelas subdivididas com os diferentes grupos de maturação e após com os diferentes arranjos forrageiros. Para avaliar a modificação físico-hídrica causada pelos diferentes manejos propostos, foram medidos a densidade do solo, a porosidade total, a macroporosidade, a microporosidade, a condutividade hidráulica de solo saturado, a taxa de infiltração de água no solo, a rugosidade aleatória e o desnível médio do camalhão nos dois anos em três momentos distintos (na semeadura, aos 45 e aos 140 dias após a semeadura: 0 DAS, 45 DAS e 140 DAS, respectivamente). Além disso, fora realizado ensaio de resistência à penetração aos 45 DAS nos ANOS I e II. O desempenho das plantas foi medido pelo teor de clorofila nas folhas, % plantas estabelecidas e rendimento de grãos para as culturas de milho e soja. Também fora medido o índice de área foliar na cultura da soja. Para a avaliação do desempenho das forrageiras hibernais mediu-se a produção de matéria seca da parte aérea. A escarificação isolada ou acompanhada da construção do camalhão proporcionou um ambiente físico com maior drenagem (taxa de infiltração), maior espaço poroso ocupado por ar (macroporosidade) e menor resistência à penetração do que os sistemas de manejo convencional e apenas com camalhão, durante todo o ciclo das culturas estivais. Porém, esses efeitos são menos intensos com o tempo e concentram-se em profundidades menores do que a profundidade de trabalho da haste do escarificador. O formato obtido com a construção do camalhão sofreu acomodação de aproximadamente 41% no desnível crista/sulco durante o período estival. A escarificação mecânica aumentou significativamente a produtividade da soja, do milho e das forrageiras em solos de várzea, seja esta uma prática isolada ou associada à construção de camalhões. A construção de camalhões isolada teve efeito contrastante na produção da soja nos dois anos agrícolas, por não se diferenciar do sistema convencional ou por se assemelhar aos sistemas escarificado e escarificado com camalhão. Não houve relação conclusiva entre ciclo da cultura da soja e sua relação com o rendimento de grãos. Porém, em anos de alta pluviosidade, a escarificação auxilia na melhoria de parâmetros físico-hídricos responsáveis por reduzir o estresse por deficiência de oxigênio em solos de várzea; no entanto, o excesso de chuva reduz os benefícios proporcionados por este manejo.

Our study aimed to evaluate a prototype of instrumented rods to identify soil compacted layers and control chiseling depth, and compared it to a conventional system at a fixed depth of 0.35 m. In order to compare them, we assessed the following parameters: hourly fuel consumption, operational fuel consumption, drawbar power, average power, average speed, slipping, tractor effective field capacity and response time. Our results showed that mechanical chiseling at variable depths reduced in 26% the operational fuel consumption and increased in 14% the effective field capacity. Furthermore, the prototype of chisel plow automated control generated maps displaying spatial variability of soil mechanical resistance with resolution, sampling density and high operating capacity. Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior The No-Till System is a management technique and conservation which calls for little soil disturbance, crop rotation and maintenance of vegetation cover on the surface, where the latter is the main one. However, if these prerequisites aren´t adopted completely problems such as soil compaction arise, reducing crop yields and requiring interventions such as mechanical decompression through scarification or subsoil. However, these operations reduce the vegetation cover on the surface increasing the risk of erosion. Therefore, the improvement of these tools by developing new designs for structures that provide the best adaptation of these implements to no-till system becomes necessary. Thus, the objective of this study was the comparison of six different designs, characterized by combinations of straw packaging tools, looser elements, cutting disk and its settings and clod-breaking roller, and develop a tool for packaging of this straw on the surface. The conceptions were made by combining different looser elements, packaging tools straw and soil, such as clod-breaking roller and conditioner mechanism of straws, and still exploring different disk distances to the rod for all conceptions. The results showed high potential of the design made by the conditioner mechanism straw associated with clod-breaking roller and cutting disk, maintaining high levels of straw on the surface and the disc move closer to the stem, shorter distance, provided increased strength and average drawbar power. O Sistema de Plantio Direto é uma técnica de manejo e conservação que preconiza o pouco revolvimento do solo, rotação de cultura e manutenção da cobertura vegetal na superfície, onde esta última é o principal deles. Entretanto, se estes pré-requisitos não forem adotados por completo problemas como a compactação do solo surgem, reduzindo a produtividade das culturas e necessitando de intervenções como a descompactação mecânica através da escarificação ou subsolagem. Porém, essas operações reduzem a cobertura vegetal em superfície aumentando o risco de erosão. Por isso, o aperfeiçoamento destas ferramentas através do desenvolvimento de novas concepções de estruturas que propiciem a melhor adaptação desses implementos ao sistema plantio direto se torna necessário. Desta forma, o objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar a comparação de seis diferentes concepções, caracterizadas por combinações entre ferramentas de acondicionamento de palha, elementos descompactadores, disco de corte e suas regulagens e rolo destorroador, e desenvolver uma ferramenta para acondicionamento da palha presente na superfície. As concepções foram realizadas mediante a combinação de diferentes elementos descompactadores, ferramentas de acondicionamento da palha e do solo, tais como rolo destorroador e o mecanismo acondicionador de palha, e ainda explorando distintas distâncias do disco para a haste para todas as concepções. Os resultados mostraram elevado potencial da concepção composta pelo mecanismo acondicionador de palha associado ao rolo destorroador e disco de corte, mantendo níveis elevados de palha na superfície e a aproximação do disco em relação à haste, na menor distância, proporcionou aumento da força e potência média na barra de tração.

O tráfego de máquinas agrícolas é considerado uma das principais fontes da compactação do solo. Uma prática utilizada para minimizar os efeitos da compactação é a escarificação, porém a haste escarificadora pode causar compactação subsuperficial. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a influência do tráfego de máquinas na compressibilidade de um Argissolo Vermelho-Amarelo distrófico arênico, de textura franco arenosa e avaliar o comportamento mecânico desse solo abaixo da linha de atuação da haste escarificadora. Os tratamentos investigados foram: semeadura direta há 13 anos, semeadura direta há 13 anos com tráfego adicional (intensidade de tráfego de 24,67Mg km ha-1), cultivo mínimo recém implantado e cultivo mínimo recém implantado com tráfego adicional. Para a determinação da densidade do solo, de índice de vazios, da pressão de preconsolidação e do coeficiente de compressão, foram coletadas amostras nas camadas de 0,0-0,10m, 0,10-0,20m, 0,20-0,30m e 0,30-0,40m. O tratamento semeadura direta há 13 anos apresentou a menor capacidade de suporte e maior suscetibilidade à compactação. A intensidade de tráfego de 24,67Mg km ha-1 aumentou a densidade do solo e reduziu o índice de vazios até 0,20m. A escarificação não afetou a pressão de preconsolidação e o coeficiente de compressão do solo na camada abaixo da linha de atuação da ponteira do escarificador. Farm machinery wheeling is considered a major source of soil compaction. The use of chisel plow can minimize such effects, but the chisel can cause subsurface compaction. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of traffic and is present below the compaction layer thought compressive parameters of soil. The treatments investigated were: no-tillage, no-tillage with additional traffic (traffic intensity of 24.67Mg km ha-1), no-tillage chiseling recent implanted, no-tillage with additional traffic and chiseling recent implanted. For the density, void ratio, preconsolidation pressure and coefficient of compressibility determination in the layers 0.0-0.10m, 0.10-0.20m, 0.20-0.30m and 0.30 to 0.40m samples were collected. The treatment no-tillage showed the lowest load support capacity and greater susceptibility to compaction. The traffic intensity of 24.67Mg km ha-1 increased bulk density and decreased void ratio until 0.30m depth. The chisel plow did not affect the preconsolidation pressure and coefficient of compressibility of soil layer below the line of action of the chisel tip.

Utilizou-se o delineamento experimental de blocos ao acaso, em parcelas subdivididas, com quatro repetições. As parcelas foram constituídas pelas culturas de inverno, triticale (X Triticosecale) e girassol (Helianthus annuus), e as subparcelas pelos culturas de primavera, milheto (Pennisetum glaucum), sorgo forrageiro (Sorghum bicolor) e crotalária júncea (Crotalaria juncea), além da escarificação, realizada em 2003 e 2009. A soja (Glycine max) foi cultivada no verão e seu sistema radicular foi avaliado por amostragem física das raízes, com trado, e por avaliação da atividade radicular com rubídio. Modificações na arquitetura ou na atividade do sistema radicular da soja não afetaram a produtividade. A distribuição física e a atividade radicular não foram afetados significativamente pelas espécies de inverno, mas o crescimento foi favorecido após o cultivo do milheto e do sorgo forrageiro, na primavera. A medida direta do sistema radicular com trado apresenta baixa correlação com a atividade radicular. The objective of this work was to assess winter and spring crop effects on soybean root system growth, and on yield, and to compare a direct method (soil core sampling) with an indirect method (with rubidium) in evaluating the root system. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design, in a split-plot arrangement, with four replicates. Plots consisted of the winter crops, triticale (X Triticosecale) and sunflower (Helianthus annuus), and subplots of the spring crops, pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum), forage sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) and sunn hemp (Crotalaria juncea), besides chisel tillage in 2003 and 2009. Soybean (Glycine max) was grown in the summer, and its root system was evaluated by physical sampling of the roots and by root activity assessment using rubidium. Changes in the architecture or in the activity of soybean roots did not affect yield. The distribution and activity of soybean roots were not significantly affected by the winter cover crops, but root growth was favored after millet and sorghum were grown in the spring. The direct measurement of the soybean root system with an auger has low correlation with root activity. A avaliação da qualidade física dos solos agrícolas tem assumido importância cada vez maior, principalmente em áreas sob sistema plantio direto, uma vez que nesse sistema de manejo ocorrem importantes alterações na estrutura do solo. A resistência mecânica do solo à penetração (RP), o intervalo hídrico ótimo (IHO) e a densidade relativa (DR) têm sido apresentados como opções para essa avaliação. Os objetivos deste trabalho foram avaliar e modelar a RP em função da umidade e densidade do solo e determinar o IHO em função da DR em dois sistemas de manejo. Amostras de solo com estrutura preservada foram coletadas na camada de 0-5cm, em solo sob plantio direto (PD) e plantio direto escarificado (PDE) há seis meses. Em laboratório, determinou-se a RP utilizando penetrômetro eletrônico e efetuou-se um ajuste estatístico individual para cada manejo à equação de Busscher. No PDE, para uma mesma densidade e umidade do solo, a RP foi menor que no PD, e a diferença na RP foi maior entre os dois manejos quando a umidade do solo no campo foi menor. O IHO foi maior no PDE até a DR 0,9. Os resultados permitem concluir que a RP é um parâmetro sensível para determinar a qualidade estrutural do solo e que o PDE reduziu significativamente a RP e aumentou o IHO, o que proporcionará melhores condições para o desenvolvimento radicular das plantas por um período de tempo maior. The assessment of the physical quality of agricultural soils has taken on added importance, especially in areas under no tillage, as important changes to soil structure occur as a result of this type of management. Soil resistance to penetration (RP), the least limit water range (LLWR) and relative density (RD) have been used as evaluation parameters. The aim of this study was to assess and model RP as a function of soil moisture and density and to determine the LLWR as a function of RD under two management systems. Samples of soils under no tillage (NT) and chiseled no tillage (CNT) for six months and whose structure had been preserved were collected at a depth of 0 to 5cm. In the laboratory, RP was assessed using an electronic penetrometer and each management system was statistically adjusted to Busscher's equation. In CNT soils, RP was lower for the same density and moisture, and lower than the PD, whereas the difference in RP was larger between the two management systems when soil moisture in the field was lower. The LLWR was higher under CNT up to an RD of 0.9. Results allow us to conclude that RP is a sensitive parameter for determining the physical quality of the soil and that CNT significantly reduced RP and increased the LLWR, providing favorable conditions for root growth for a longer time period.

A qualidade estrutural do solo é importante para a emergência das plântulas, bem como para o crescimento, desenvolvimento e produtividade das culturas. Uma ampla distribuição de valores de resistência tênsil do solo indica condições estruturais do solo para atender a estes pressupostos. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a resistência tênsil e a friabilidade de um Latossolo Vermelho distroférrico sob plantio direto com sucessão e rotação de culturas. Os tratamentos utilizados foram: plantio direto com sucessão das culturas de trigo e soja (SDS); plantio direto com rotação de culturas, utilizando em seqüência milho-aveia-soja-aveia-soja-trigo (SDR), e SDR associado à escarificação periódica do solo (SDE). Em duas épocas distintas (outubro de 2003 e abril de 2004), foram coletados dez blocos de solo (0,15 x 0,20 x 0,10 m) em cada tratamento na camada de 0-0,20 m de profundidade. Quatrocentos e cinqüenta agregados de cada tratamento e época de coleta foram utilizados para determinar a resistência tênsil e a friabilidade do solo, determinando-se, também, o conteúdo de C orgânico. Não foi verificada influência do C orgânico do solo na resistência tênsil e na friabilidade do solo. Verificou-se menor resistência tênsil em SDE para o ano de 2003. A sucessão de culturas (SDS) alternou temporariamente a friabilidade do solo entre a classe friável e a muito friável. A rotação de culturas (SDR) manteve temporalmente estável a estrutura do solo na classe de friabilidade do solo muito friável, assegurando melhor estrutura e qualidade física do solo. A resistência tênsil dos agregados e a friabilidade foram sensíveis na avaliação da qualidade estrutural do solo para os sistemas de manejo de solo e culturas estudados. The soil structural quality is important for plant emergence as well as for crop growth, development and yield. A wide range of soil tensile strength values indicates that soil structure conditions meet these requirements. The objective of this study was to evaluate the tensile strength and friability of an Oxisol (Acrudox) under no-tillage with crop rotation and crop succession. The soil management treatments consisted of: crop succession with wheat and soybean (SDS); crop rotation with corn-oats-soybean-oats-soybean-wheat (SDR) and SDR plus periodic soil chiseling (SDE). Ten soil blocks (0.15 x 0.20 x 0.10 m) were randomly collected from the 0-0.20 m layer for each treatment, on two sampling dates (October 2003 and April 2004). The soil tensile strength and soil friability was estimated in 450 soil aggregates from each treatment and sampling date. The soil organic carbon content of the aggregates was also measured. There was no effect of soil organic carbon on soil tensile strength and friability. Results showed lower tensile strength in SDE soil collected in 2003. Crop succession (SDS) temporarily changed the friability classification from very friable to friable. Crop rotation (SDR) was effective in maintaining the soil structure at the very friable class, resulting in a better structure and soil physical quality. The parameters tensile strength and friability proved sensitive enough to evaluate soil structural quality under the crop management systems studied.

O intervalo hídrico ótimo (IHO) é um método que integra vários fatores que afetam o desenvolvimento das plantas, e corresponde ao intervalo de umidade do solo no qual não ocorre restrição de aeração (porosidade de aeração mínima de 0,10 m³ m-3) nem de resistência mecânica à penetração das raízes (RP) dentro da faixa de água disponível às plantas, isto é, entre a capacidade de campo (CC) e o ponto de murcha permanente (PMP). O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar o IHO em um Latossolo Vermelho sob plantio direto (PD) e plantio direto escarificado (PDE), bem como o rendimento de grãos de soja. Avaliou-se a densidade do solo, o IHO, a variação da umidade do solo durante o ciclo da soja e o rendimento de grãos. Os resultados indicaram que a densidade do solo foi menor no PDE, o que acarretou maior amplitude do IHO. A densidade crítica, na qual IHO = 0, foi semelhante entre o PD e o PDE. Durante o ciclo da cultura da soja, em vários momentos, a sua umidade ficou fora do IHO, quando assumida RP limitante de 2 MPa. Como o rendimento de grãos da soja não apresentou diferença significativa, deduz-se que a RP de 2 MPa não é limitante para a soja. The least limiting water range (LLWR) was used to determine several factors that influence plant growth. The LLWR is defined as the water content range in which aeration (AFP) and soil resistance to root penetration (RP) are not restrictive, within the field capacity (FC) and permanent wilting point (PWP). The aim of the present study was to determine the LLWR and soybean grain yield in an Oxisol under non-tillage (NT) and chiseled no-tillage (CNT) systems. The soil density, LLWR, soil water content range throughout the soybean crop cycle and grain yield were assessed. Soil density was lower in the CNT system, which resulted in a wider LLWR. Critical density (LLWR=0) was similar in the NT and CNT systems. The soil water content decreased to values outside the LLWR at different periods during the crop cycle when a limiting RP of 2 MPa was considered. It was concluded that an RP of 2 MPa is not limiting for soybean because there were no significant differences in grain yield between the two tillage systems.

Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je utvrditi utjecaj obrade tla i gnojidbe dušikom na pojavu Fusarium vrsta na zrnu pšenice. Poljski pokus je bio postavljen na lokaciji Magadenovac u razdoblju od rujna 2013. godine do lipnja 2014. godine, u 5 varijanti obrade tla te 3 varijante gnojidbe dušikom. Prisustvo Fusarium vrsta je utvrđeno u svim ispitivanim varijantama obrade tla i gnojidbe. Pri gnojidbi dušikom u smanjoj dozi zaraza Fusarium vrstama bila je statistički značajno manja u odnosu na tretmane sa preporučenom i povećanom dozom gotovo u svim varijantama obrade tla (konvencionalna, tanjuranje i no till). Pri povećanoj gnojidbi dušikom najveći broj zaraženih zrna utvrđen je u varijanti tanjuranja i podrivanja, The aim of this research was to determine the impact of tillage and nitrogen fertilization treatments on the occurence of Fusarium species on the wheat grain. The field experiment was set at the Magadenovac site from September 2013 to June 2014, having five variants of tillage treatments and three variants of nitrogen fertilization treatments. The presence of Fusarium species was determined in all tested variants of tillage and fertilization treatments. During the fertilization with reduced amount of nitrogen, the infection with Fusarium species was greatly reduced statistically in comparison with other treatments with recommended and increased amount in almost all variants of tillage treatments (CT-conventional tillage treatment, DH- disk harowing and NT- no-till treatment). During the fertilization that had an increased amount of nitrogen, the greatest number of grain infection was determined in the disk harowing and subsoiling variants.

The seed bank is characterized by the amount of seeds and other viable reproductive structures in the soil and it is changed by the input and output of seeds, being classified by its permanence in the soil as transient or permanent. The tillage and crops used decisively influence this dynamic and more disturbed areas tend to have richer seed banks. The purpose of this study was to test different soil tillage and crop systems, aiming to reduce or eliminate the ryegrass in the area. The experiment was conducted from 2010 to 2012. In the first year, the effect of chemical tillage was assessed, compared to the area without tillage. From the second year on, in the area that received chemical tillage, the second experiment was installed, where it was assessed the effect of soil tillage and crop rotation in the ryegrass seed yield. The soil tillage treatment was chisel plow and non-chisel plow. The crop rotation was: fallow/soybean; wheat/soybean; black oat/maize. The samples of soil were taken three times a year and split in 0-5, 5-10, 10-15 and 15-20 cm. After sampling, the seeds were separated from the soil and sterilized. Afterwards, germination and tetrazolium test were conducted. In the same plots used for soil sampling, the emergence flow of ryegrass was assessed in the winter 2011 and 2012. In the first year it was observed that chemical tillage had considerably reduced the amount of ryegrass in the soil. The crop rotations used were more effective than soil tillage in reducing the seed banks in the soil. The rotation oat/maize and wheat/soybean, in only two years, practically zeroed the ryegrass seed banks in the area. O banco de sementes é composto por sementes e estruturas de reprodução viáveis, sendo alterado pela entrada e saída de sementes na área. Assim, o manejo das culturas utilizadas na área influencia na dinâmica do banco de sementes. Objetivou-se neste estudo testar manejos de solo e de culturas como forma de reduzir a presença de azevém. No primeiro ano, avaliou-se o efeito do manejo químico, em relação à área mantida sem manejo. A partir do segundo ano, na área manejada quimicamente, instalou-se um experimento, em que se avaliaram os efeitos do manejo de solo e de culturas na presença de propágulos e plântulas de azevém. O manejo de solo consistiu em escarificação e não escarificação. As sucessões de culturas foram: pousio/soja, trigo/soja, aveia-preta/soja e aveia-preta/milho. Foram realizadas coletas de solo nas profundidades de 0-5, 5-10, 10-15 e 15-20 cm em três épocas; as sementes de azevém coletadas foram submetidas ao teste de germinação em câmara de crescimento, com posterior teste de tetrazólio. Foi avaliado o fluxo de emergência de azevém nos períodos de inverno em 2011 e 2012. No primeiro ano, observou-se redução na quantidade de sementes de azevém no solo manejado quimicamente. As sucessões de culturas utilizadas mostraram-se mais efetivas na redução do banco de sementes. Observou-se que sucessões de aveia-preta/milho e trigo/soja, em dois anos, reduziram significativamente o banco de sementes na área.

O experimento foi realizado na UNESP-Jaboticabal-SP, em condição de preparo do solo com escarificador de sete hastes a 30cm de profundidade. Os pneus foram do tipo R1, com as seguintes características: [radial (dianteiros-14.9 R 26; traseiros-620/75 R 30) diagonal (dianteiros-14.9-26, traseiros-23.1-30) e BPAF (dianteiros-500/60-26.5; traseiros-700/55-34)]. The objective of this study was to compare the performance of the FWD agricultural tractor, equipped with three types of tires (bias ply, radial and low pressure), with and without tire water ballasting, operating in four forward speed. The research was carried out at UNESP, SP, Brazil, with the tractor pulling a chisel plow. A tractor with 89kW (121cv) engine power equipped with FWD, was used in the experiment, and the tires used had the following characteristics: radial (front: 14.9R26 and rear: 620/75R30), bias ply (front: 14.9-26 and rear: 23.1-30) and low pressure (front: 500/60-26.5 and rear: 700/55-34). Pokus je postavljen na lokalitetu Čačinci u 5 varijanti obrade tla i 3 varijante gnojidbe dušikom. Utvrdili smo prisustvo vrsta iz roda Fusarium na zrnu pšenice u svim ispitivanim varijantama obrade tla i gnojidbe. Pri gnojidbi dušikom u preporučenoj i višoj dozi zaraza zrna fuzariozama je bila statistički značajno veća nego u tretmanima sa smanjenom gnojidbom u različitim obradama tla (konvencionalna obrada, podrivanje, no till). Pri smanjenoj gnojidbi dušikom najveći broj zaraženih zrna utvrđen u varijanti CH (rahljenje) i DH (tanjuranje), dok je najmanji broj zaraženih zrna utvrđen u konvencionalnoj obradi tla (CT) i podrivanju (SS) te u izostavljenoj obradi tla (NT)., The aim of the study was to determine the occurrence of Fusarium species on wheat grain under different tillage and fertilization treatments during 2013/2014 season. O delineamento experimental foi de blocos casualizados com quatro repetições, contendo os seguintes tratamentos: Subsolagem a 0,40 m, escarificação a 0,30 m, escarificação a 0,20 m, plantio direto com hastes sulcadoras e como testemunha, plantio direto com discos duplos. Os parâmetros avaliados foram: demanda energética e desempenho operacional na semeadura do milho, características agronômicas e a produtividade de matéria seca e de grãos do milho. A subsolagem e escarificação esporádica em solos sob sistema plantio direto não interferiram no desenvolvimento das plantas e na produtividade de grãos. A utilização de hastes na semeadora-adubadora, permitiu a maior mobilização do solo na linha da semeadura, com pouco acréscimo na demanda energética em relação aos manejos com subsolagem e escarificação em solos sob plantio direto. With the objective to assess the operational performance and energy demand in the production of corn, the was conducted at the Experimental Farm of Lageado, belonging to the Faculdade de Ciências Agronômicas da UNESP, localizada no município de Botucatu-SP. The design of the experiment is randomized blocks with four repetitions of the following treatments: Sub soiling to 0.40 m, Scarification to 0.30 m, Scarification to 0.20 m, no-till with chisel type openers, no-till with double discs. The parameters evaluated were: energy demand and operational performance in sowing corn, agronomic characteristics and the yield of dry corn grain. The sub soiling and sporadic chiseling in no-till soils did not affect plant development or yield. The use of rods in the drill allows for greater mobilization of the soil in the sowing line with almost no increase in energy demand in relation to the tillage treatments with sub soiling and chiseling. Soil management influences water erosion and sediment size in runoff. With the objective of quantifying sediments in runoff and their relation to runoff velocity (Rv), random roughness (RR), and Ir index, this experiment was carried out from 2003 to 2006, on a typical Hapludox with the following soil management systems submitted to chiseling: i) bare soil with plowing+two disking tillage (BSC); ii) plowing+two disking tillage (CTC); iii) no tillage with crop residues burned (BNTC); and iv) traditional notillage (TNTC). CTC, BNTC and TNTC treatments were cultivated with crop rotation and the BSC treatment was not cultivated. Five simulated rainfall tests were applied, with intensity of 64 mm h-1 and duration of 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 min. RR was influenced by the residual effect of soil management and by simulated rainfall, and affected the Rv in the three initial rainfall tests. Sediments carried by runoff were influenced by soil management and by simulated rainfall. Most of the sediments were in the size range from 0.5 to > 2 mm, with a higher quantity of fine sediment in BNTC and TNTC treatments than in the other treatments. The D50 index of sediments changed with soil management system and with rainfall tests, decreasing with the increase of the RR and increasing with the increment of Rv and Ir index. O manejo do solo influencia a erosão hídrica e o tamanho de sedimentos na enxurrada. Com o objetivo de quantificar os sedimentos na enxurrada e relacioná-los com sua velocidade (Ve), com a rugosidade (RR) e com o índice Ir, conduziu-se este estudo entre 2003 e 2006, em um Nitossolo, sob sistemas de manejo do solo submetidos a uma escarificação: i) solo descoberto com aração e duas gradagens (SCE); ii) aração e duas gradagens (PCE); iii) semeadura direta em solo nunca preparado e com resíduos queimados (SQE); e iv) semeadura direta tradicional (STE). Os tratamentos PCE, SQE e STE foram cultivados com rotação de culturas e o SCE não foi cultivado. Foram aplicados cinco testes de chuva simulada, com intensidade constante de 64 mm h-1 e durações de 20, 30, 40, 50 e 60 minutos cada um. A RR foi influenciada pelo efeito residual do manejo do solo e pelas chuvas simuladas e afetou a Ve nos três testes iniciais de chuva. Os sedimentos transportados pela enxurrada foram influenciados pelo manejo do solo e pelas chuvas simuladas; tais sedimentos ocorreram em maior quantidade no tamanho entre 0,5 e > 2 mm do que nos tamanhos menores, com maior quantidade de sedimentos menores nos tratamentos SQE e STE do que nos demais tratamentos. O índice D50 dos sedimentos variou com o manejo do solo e com os testes de chuva, diminuindo com o incremento de RR e aumentando com o incremento de Ve de Ir.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito de coberturas de inverno e da descompactação mecânica do solo sobre o desempenho de soja e milho, em sistema de plantio direto. Foram conduzidos dois experimentos em Eldorado do Sul, RS, sobre Argissolo Vermelho compactado, nas safras 2005/2006 e 2006/2007. No primeiro, o delineamento experimental foi em blocos ao acaso, com parcelas subdivididas. Os tratamentos consistiram de duas profundidades teóricas de atuação da haste sulcadora da semeadora (0,06 e 0,12 m, subparcela) e de três tipos de coberturas do solo no inverno (parcela): pousio, aveia‑preta (Avena strigosa) e aveia‑preta+ervilhaca (Vicia Sativa). Em 2006, a cobertura aveia-preta+ervilhaca foi substituída por nabo‑forrageiro (Raphanus sativus). No segundo experimento, realizado em blocos ao acaso, o solo foi escarificado e os tratamentos consistiram do uso de aveia‑preta ou nabo‑forrageiro como cobertura de inverno. Os cultivos de cobertura reduziram a compactação superficial do solo (0–0,06 m) em comparação ao pousio e, na safra 2006/2007, sob condições de baixa disponibilidade hídrica, proporcionaram maior produtividade de milho e soja. Isso não se repetiu em 2006/2007, quando a disponibilidade hídrica foi adequada. O aumento da profundidade de atuação das hastes sulcadoras não influenciou a produtividade da soja e do milho. A escarificação reduziu a produtividade da soja e do milho em relação ao SPD contínuo. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of soil winter covers and soil mechanical loosening on soybean and corn yield, in no‑tillage system. Two experiments were carried oud in Rio Grande do Sul state, Brazil, in a compacted Argissolo Vermelho (Haplic Acrisol), in the 2005/2006 and 2006/2007 crop seasons. The first experiment was carried out in a complete block design, with a split plot arrangement. The treatments were two theoretical working depths of a driller chisel‑type furrow opener (0.06 and 0.12 m, split plot), and three soil winter covers (main plot): fallow, black oat (Avena strigosa), and black oat+common vetch (Vicia sativa). In 2006, the soil cover black oat+common vetch was replaced by oilseed radish (Raphanus sativus). In the second experiment, in a complete block design, the soil was chiseled and treatments consisted of black oat or oilseed radish as winter cover crops. Cover crops reduced soil superficial (0–0,06 m) compaction compared to fallow and, in the 2005/2006‑crop season, under low water availability, provided higher soybean and corn yields. In the 2006/2007‑crop season, when water availability was higher, the same did not happen. Increasing working depths of the chisel‑type furrow opener did not affect soybean or corn yields. Soil chiseling reduced soybean and corn yields in comparison to the continuous no‑tillage system.

In Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, the watermelon is cultivated in a large area of sandy soils, where the conventional tillage is the most commonly used, favoring the water erosion. This leads the areas under cultivation of this vegetable to intense erosive processes, which in some cases at the end of cultivation, the areas become unfit for further cultivation. In order to evaluate the performance of the watermelon crop from the point of view of production in different systems of soil tillage, in sandy soil, analyzing the operating factors of the tractor-implement set by means of an electronic system of measurement, was conducted under field conditions, an experiment at São Roque Farm, Dilermando de Aguiar County, localized at the Central Depression region of Rio Grande do Sul. The soil was a typic Hapludalf, with plots of 6 x 8m. The experimental design was randomized block with four replications and seven treatments in a factorial 7 x 4. The obtained data were tabulated and submitted to ANOVA and Tukey test with a 5% of probability error, and used the computer application MSSAAGRI to the procedure of statistical analysis. The applied treatments were: conventional tillage (PC), with one plowing and two harrowing; no- tillage (PD); tillage with a chisel plow with one shank (PDE1H); tillage with a chisel plow with two shanks (PDE2H); tillage with a chisel plow with three shanks (PDE3H); tillage with a chisel plow with four skanks (PDE4H) and tillage with a chisel plow with five shanks (PDE5H). The analysis of the results indicated that, generally, the variables such as traction power, required strength by the draw bar, slip the run and fuel consumption increased due to the addition of the number of shanks on soil tillage. The conventional tillage was higher in fuel consumption, showing 207.5 and 151.7% higher consumption in relation to the PDE1H and PDE5H treatments, respectively. The area of mobilized soil by conventional preparation was 349.6% higher than the PDE1H treatment. The conventional preparation can be replaced by minimum tillage with scarification, or even by the no-tillage, for the soil tillage to the watermelon crop, indicating a good yield, with lower fuel usage, less soil revolving and more soil conservation, being a path to sustainability of this crop cultivation. No Rio Grande do Sul, a melancia é cultivada em uma grande área de solos arenosos, onde o preparo convencional do solo é o mais utilizado, favorecendo a erosão hídrica. Isto leva as áreas sob cultivo desta hortaliça a processos erosivos intensos, onde em alguns casos ao final do cultivo, as áreas tornam-se impróprias para cultivos posteriores. Com o objetivo de avaliar o comportamento da cultura da melancia sob o ponto de vista de produção em diferentes sistemas de preparo do solo, em solo arenoso, analisando os fatores operacionais do conjunto trator-implemento por meio de um sistema eletrônico de medições, foi conduzido em condições de campo, um experimento na Fazenda São Roque, município de Dilermando de Aguiar, na região da Depressão Central do Rio Grande do Sul. O solo é um Argissolo Vermelho distrófico arênico, com parcelas de 6x8 m. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições e sete tratamentos, em esquema fatorial 7x4. Os dados obtidos foram tabulados e submetidos à análise de variância e ao teste de Tukey com probabilidade de 5% de erro. Os tratamentos aplicados foram: Preparo convencional do solo (PC), com uma aração e duas gradagens, Plantio direto (PD), Plantio direto escarificado com uma haste de escarificação (PDE1H), Plantio direto escarificado com duas hastes de escarificação (PDE2H), Plantio direto escarificado com três hastes de escarificação (PDE3H), Plantio direto escarificado com quatro hastes de escarificação (PDE4H) e Plantio direto escarificado com cinco hastes de escarificação (PDE5H). As análises dos resultados indicaram que, de modo geral, as variáveis força de tração, potência exigida na barra de tração, patinamento dos rodados e o consumo de combustível aumentaram em virtude da adição do número de hastes de escarificação na operação de preparo do solo. O preparo convencional do solo foi superior em exigência de consumo de combustível, apresentando 207,5 e 151,7% a mais de consumo em relação aos tratamentos PDE1H e PDE5H, respectivamente. A área mobilizada de solo pelo sistema de preparo convencional foi 349,6% a mais em relação ao tratamento PDE1H. O preparo convencional do solo pode ser substituído pelo cultivo mínimo com escarificação, ou até mesmo pelo plantio direto, para o preparo do solo da cultura da melancia, indicando uma boa produtividade, com menor gasto de combustível, menor revolvimento e maior conservação do solo, sendo um caminho para sustentabilidade do cultivo dessa cultura.

Neste sentido, objetivou-se com este trabalho estudar o comportamento de três sistemas de rotação de culturas quanto as propriedades físicas e físico-hídricas de um Nitossolo Vermelho de textura argilosa sob Sistema de Semeadura Direta com e sem escarificação inicial. O sistema de rotação de culturas foi implantado na safra de 2005/2006 como segue: (1) milheto / soja / sorgo / milho / sorgo / soja (2) milheto / soja / Brachiaria / milho + Brachiaria / soja, e (3) milheto / soja / mamona + Brachiaria / milho + Brachiaria / Brachiaria + mamona / soja. O experimento foi conduzido na Fazenda Experimental Lageado (Botucatu-SP), nos anos agrícolas de 2005/2006, 2006/2007 e 2007/2008. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos ao acaso com quatro repetições em esquema de parcelas subdivididas. Foram consideradas parcelas aquelas cultivadas em SSD com e sem escarificação, e subparcelas as cultivadas em sistemas de rotação. A escarificação do solo foi realizada inicialmente após a aplicação do corretivo de acidez no primeiro ano (08/2005). Foram coletadas amostras de raízes, tanto das espécies de cobertura como do milho e da soja, nas profundidades de 0,00-0,05, 0,05-0,10, 0,10-0,20, 0,20-0,40 e 0,40-0,60 m. As raízes das plantas de cobertura foram amostradas antes da dessecação química. Já as raízes do milho e da soja foram respectivamente amostradas na linha e na entrelinha de semeadura, quando as culturas apresentavam-se em estádio de pleno florescimento e R2. Os objetivos deste trabalho foram determinar a variação temporal da porosidade, da densidade e da resistência à penetração do solo, em quatro sistemas de manejo, e estudar seus efeitos sobre o crescimento radicular do feijoeiro (Phaseolus vulgaris). O experimento foi conduzido em Argissolo, em delineamento experimental de blocos ao acaso, com três repetições. Os tratamentos foram: plantio direto há 10 anos, preparo convencional, plantio em solo escarificado recentemente (Esc. recente) e plantio direto sobre área escarificada há 1 ano (Esc. 1 ano). A escarificação reduziu a densidade média do solo e aumentou a porosidade total durante o ciclo do feijoeiro. A maior densidade ocorreu na camada de 0,10-0,15 m dos sistemas plantio direto e Esc. 1 ano. A resistência à penetração foi a propriedade que melhor caracterizou e diferenciou os sistemas de manejo, as camadas com impedimento e o efeito do tempo de amostragem, porém não afetou o crescimento radicular do feijoeiro. Os efeitos da escarificação sobre a densidade e a resistência à penetração desapareceram um ano após a escarificação, o que indica a reconsolidação do solo. The objectives of this work were to determine the temporal variation in soil porosity, bulk density and penetration resistance, in four soil management systems, and study their effects on the root growth of black beans (Phaseolus vulgaris). The experiment was conducted in a Hapludalf using three replicates. The treatments consisted of: long-term (10 years) no-tillage, conventional tillage, chiseling of the long-term no-tillage (Chi. recent), and no-tillage in area after one year since chiseling (Chi. 1 year) of the long-term no-tillage area. Chiseling reduced soil bulk density and increased total porosity during the bean growing cycle. The greatest bulk densities were observed at 0.10 to 0.15 m in the no-tillage and in Chi. 1 year. Soil resistance was the best property to differentiate the effects of the soil management systems, the restricted layers, and time of sampling. Howerver, soil resitance did not affect the root growth of black beans. The effects of the soil chiseling on bulk density and soil resistance disappeared after one year, which indicated soil consolidation.

Entretanto, devido às oscilações do mercado de carne, os produtores têm buscado alternativas de renda para diminuir a dependência exclusiva da pecuária. Uma das alternativas mais viável para esses produtores é a prática da integração agricultura-pecuária, porém pairam dúvidas sobre como iniciar o sistema no que diz respeito ao manejo do solo no 1º ano. Diante da necessidade de gerar informações para a adequada implantação do sistema integração agricultura-pecuária, o presente trabalho foi proposto com o objetivo de: a) avaliar a necessidade de mobilização inicial do solo e incorporação de calcário para implantação do sistema integração agricultura-pecuária; b) avaliar alguns atributos químicos e físicos do solo, após a colheita nas áreas cultivada com soja e milho, em função dos condicionamentos físicos do solo e seqüências de culturas; e c) comparar a produção de soja e milho, em plantio direto, nos sistemas de monocultivo e rotação de culturas, nos 2º e 3º ano de implantação do sistema integração agricultura-pecuária. O experimento foi conduzido nos anos agrícolas 2004/05 e 2005/06, na Fazenda de Ensino e Pesquisa da UNESP, Campus de Ilha Solteira, localizada no município de Selvíria (MS), entre as coordenadas geográficas de Latitude 20º18’16’’ S e Longitude 52º40’15’’ W. O solo da área experimental foi classificado como Latossolo Vermelho distroférrico típico muito argiloso. The West of São Paulo State has as characteristic beef cattle production, however, due to beef market oscillations, the producers have searched alternativ of income for reduce the dependence exclusive of beef cattle. The alternative more viable for these producers is the practice of integrated agriculture-pasture system, but hover doubt about as to begin the system regarding soil management on the 1st year. Before of the necessity to beget information for the adequate implantation of integrated agricultue-pasture system, the present research was proposed with the objective of: a) evaluate the need of soil initial tillage and limestone incorporation for the implantation of integrated agricultue-pasture system; b) evaluate some soil chemical and physical attributes, after the harvest in the cultivated areas with soybean and corn, in function of soil condioning physical and culture seqüences; and c) to compare the soybean and corn production, in no tillage, in the monocropping and crop rotation system, on the 2st e 3rd year of implantation of integrated agriculture-pasture system. The experiment was carried out in period of 2004/05 and 2005/06 harvest, at the Research and Teaching Farm from UNESP, Campus de Ilha Solteira, situated at Selvíria (Mato Grosso do Sul State), between the geographic coordinates of Latitude 20º 18’ 16’’ S and Longitude 52º 40’ 15’’ W. The soil from the experimental area was classified as oxisol. The experimental design utilized was a split plot, with 4 replications. Proporcionar condições ótimas ao desenvolvimento das plantas deve ser um dos objetivos do manejo do solo. O sistema plantio direto é um manejo conservacionista por excelência, mas tem apresentado problemas de compactação, afetando o desenvolvimento e à produtividade das culturas. A escarificação esporádica do solo nessas áreas tem-se apresentado como uma alternativa para minimizar os efeitos negativos do aumento da sua densidade. Neste estudo, avaliou-se a densidade do solo, a porosidade total e de aeração, a densidade máxima e a relativa do solo e o rendimento de grãos de trigo num Latossolo em duas áreas: plantio direto há 6 anos (PD) e plantio direto escarificado (PDE). Durante todo o ciclo da cultura do trigo, monitorou-se o potencial de água no solo por meio de sensores eletrônicos e "datalogger". A escarificação esporádica do solo sob sistema plantio direto diminuiu (5%) a densidade e a densidade relativa do solo, aumentou a porosidade total e alterou a dinâmica da água no solo, proporcionou maior volume de poros livres de água (7,6%) durante todo o ciclo da cultura do trigo e aumentou significativamente o rendimento de grãos (682kg ha-1). The soil management should be aimed at providing optimal conditions for plant growth and development. No-tillage is a quintessential conservative system; however, it has caused compaction, thus affecting crop development and yield. Sporadic soil chiseling in these areas has been used as an alternative to minimize the negative effects of an increase in bulk density. The soil bulk density, total porosity, air-filled porosity, maximum density, relative density, and wheat grain yield of an oxisol were assessed in two areas: under no-tillage for 6 years and under no tillage chiseled. Soil water potential was monitored throughout the wheat crop cycle by using electronic sensors and a datalogger. Results show that sporadic chiseling of the soil under no-tillage reduced soil density and relative density by 5%, increased total porosity and changed the soil water dynamics, resulting in a higher volume of water-free pores (7.6%) throughout the wheat crop cycle, remarkably increasing grain yield (682kg ha-1).

Reducirana obrada tla, kao i krajnji vid reduciranja zahvata obrade tla – no-tillage, svake godine ima sve veće značenje u obradi tla na našim prostorima. Međutim, to su još uvijek vrlo male površine. U cilju utvrđivanja optimalnoga sustava reducira¬ne obrade tla u uzgoju kukuruza, na černozemu u sjevernoj Baranji, provedena su trogodišnja istraživanja (od 1998./1999.-2000./2001.), na pet varijanata obrade tla. Najveći su prinosi redovito ostvarivani na varijanti konvencionalne obrade tla (CT), s trogodišnjim prosjekom od 9,29 t/ha, zatim na varijanti rahljenja s tanjuranjem (CH), s prinosom od 8,37 t/ha, slijedi varijanta višekratnog tanjuranja (DH, s prino¬som od 8,07 t/ha, zatim varijanta jednokratnog tanjuranja (PD) sa 6,99 t/ha, a najniži ostvareni prinosi bili su na varijanti no-tillage (NT), s trogodišnjim prosjekom od 5,94 t/ha. Najveća ekonomska dobit ostvarena je na CT varijanti (665,34 HRK/ha), slijede varijante CH (189.24 HRK/ha) i DH (77,20 HRK/ha), dok su na varijantama PD (-334,95 HRK/ha) i NT (-459,81 HRK/ha) zabilježeni gubici., Reduced tillage, as well as the most reduced tillage – No-till – every year are becoming more important in our region. Unfortunately, the areas under reduced tillage are still very small. In order to establish optimal system of reduced soil tillage, the experimental trials were set on Chernozem soil type in northern Baranja during three vege¬tation seasons (1998/1999-2000/2001) and five soil tillage systems: CT) Conventional Tillage (primary soil tillage by moldboard ploughing at 30-35 cm depth), DH) Multiple Diskharrowing at 10-15 cm as primary tillage, CH) Chiseling and diskharrowing (chiseling at 30-35 cm and diskharrowing at 10-15 cm as primary tillage), PD) One diskharro-wing pass (diskharrowing at 10-15 cm as primary tillage, and NT) No-tillage system. The highest yields were recor¬ded at CT with three-year average of 9.29 t/ha, followed by CH with 8.37 t/ha, DH with 8.07 t/ha, PD with 6.99 t/ha, whereas the lowest yields were recorded at NT treatment, with three-year average of 5.94 t/ha. The highest profit was achieved at CT treatment (665,34 HRK/ha), followed by CH (189,24 HRK/ha), DH (77,20 HRK/ha), PD (-334,95 HRK/ha) and NT (-459,81 HRK/ha).

The nutrient release from organic residues depends on the chemical and physical properties, as well as the environmental conditions and microbial population in the soil system. The objectives of the present study were to determine the enzymatic activities related to N mineralization, and to estimate the contribution of crop residues on soil N under different tillage practices using corn residues in the Central Plains, Venezuela. In a field experiment, corn residues labelled with 15N were incorporated in soil to evaluate three tillage practices: Direct planting (SD), direct planting after a chisel pass (CSD), and conventional tillage (LC). The amount of N released from crop residues and the deltaN were larger with the LC treatment than with SD and CSD treatments. Enzymatic activity was concentrated in the topsoil layer (0 to 10 cm), and there were significant differences between the two enzymes (protease and urease) in soil at 10 to 20 cm deep, where LC treatment had more enzymatic activity. These results suggest that the application of crop residues with low lignin:N and C:N ratios in a soil with a low C:N ratio, the decomposition rate of crop residues will be faster, probably because of the increase in biological activity of the soil (larger proliferation of urealytic and proteolytic organisms), which could have shown up through an increase in soil N with N released from crop residues.
