63. Reveal the mechanisms of prescriptions for liver cancer' treatment based on two illustrious senior TCM physicians

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To explore the core herbs of two illustrious senior Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Physicians for the treatment of liver cancer, and to further clarify the gene targets and pathway mechanisms of liver cancer that the core prescription (CP) may regulate. METHODS: We used the patient information of two illustrious senior TCM physicians from the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Affiliated Hospital of Capital Medical University as the database. The CP was analyzed using the community network algorithm. The pathway mechanism was analyzed using network pharmacology method. And the prognostic survival genes were identified using Single factor cox regression analysis. Integrative Pharmacology-based Research Platform of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCMIP), Herb, Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man (OMIM), Genecards, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), Genomic Data Commons (GDC), The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), Gephi and R were used to mine CP, building a pathway network diagram. All the analyses were visualized. RESULTS: We found that the CP consistes of Huangqi (Radix Astragali Mongolici), Danshen (Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae), Shuihonghuazi (Polygoni Orientalis Fructus), Baihuasheshecao (Herba Hedyotdis), Banzhilian (Herba Scutellariae Barbatae), and Ezhu (Rhizoma Curcumae Phaeocaulis), which were attributed to the two physicians respectively. The CP played an anti-cancer role through such pathways as signal transduction, energy metabolism, immune system and other pathways, covering a total of 112 pathways and 176 herb-disease-related genes. Fourteen genes have a significant impact on the prognosis and survival of liver cancer. CONCLUSIONS: Based on the liver cancer cases of two illustrious senior TCM physicians, we obtained the CP through data mining. The CP may mainly exert anti-cancer effects by inhibiting inflammatory response, angiogenesis, and enhancing the body's immune response. We screened out 14 genes in the CP that may be related to the prognosis of liver cancer, and these genes may play an important regulatory role in the prognosis of liver cancer.

76. Preparation and characterization of CS/PCL blended fiber membranes for anti-adhesion after laparoscopic surgery.

Abstract

To develop a post-laparoscopic anti-adhesion film with high biosafety, excellent mechanical properties and good anti-adhesion effect, chitosan (CS) and polycaprolactone (PCL) were blended with different mass ratios by electrospinning technology. The apparent morphology, mechanical properties, wettability and anti-adhesion of the obtained fiber membranes were tested and analyzed. The results show that with the increase of CS mass fraction, the spinnability decreases greatly. When CS mass fraction exceeds 40%, the fiber uniformity becomes worse. The crystallinity of the blended fiber membranes first increases and then decreases, the tensile strength, elastic modulus and bending stiffness increase, and the elongation at break decreases. Compared with pure PCL electrospun membrane, the wettability of the blended sample is significantly improved, the adhesion to fibroblasts is weakened, and the anti-adhesion effect is excellent. Considered the raw material cost, spinnability, mechanical properties and anti-adhesion effect, the blended fiber membrane with 30% CS mass fraction has the most potential application value in the field of anti-adhesion after laparoscopic surgery. Abstract

Over the past decade, increasing attention has been paid to the exploration of environmentalfriendly and alternative resources to prepare basic chemicals for relieving the stress of fossil resources and environmental issues. Lactic acid (LA, 2-hydroxypropanoic acid), the biomass-derived platform molecule, has been used intensively in food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. Considering the fermentation method for lactic acid production possesses environmental impact and high-cost issues, chemocatalytic approaches to manufacturing LA from biomass have attracted much attention due to higher selectivities and lower costs. This paper emphasizes a review on the state-of-the-art production of LA from triose, hexose, cellulose and other biomass over heterogeneous acidic and alkaline catalysts.

Abstract

In this study, the bimetallic Ni-Zr MOF-derived nickel-zirconium oxide (Ni-Zr-O)-impregnated silicotungstic acid (HSiW) nanocomposite catalyst (HSiW@Ni-Zr-O) was prepared via a hydrothermal procedure followed by a pyrolysis treatment, and its structural, morphological, and surface components and oxidation states were characterized by using XRD, FTIR, TPD-NH3, SEM, TEM, N2 physisorption, and XPS analyses. Then, the nanocomposite catalysts were successfully applied to the esterification of oleic acid (OA) with methanol. According to its characteristics, the obtained HSiW@Ni-Zr-O-1 catalyst would generate larger pores, a higher acidity, and active interfaces at the calcining temperature of 300 °C. Therefore, HSiW@Ni-Zr-O-1 exhibits an excellent catalytic activity of 95.2% under optimal reaction conditions. Additionally, the catalyst can be reused with a good catalytic activity after nine cycles. This study highlights the opportunity of using bimetallic MOFs as precursors to the synthesis of highly nanoporous metal oxide, which supports the larger-industrial scale production of biofuels.
