We report the calibration of a gaseous Time Projection Chamber based on Micromegas charge readout modules with cosmic ray muons, utilizing their penetrating power and relatively uniform energy deposition per unit length. Muon events were selected through track reconstruction to characterize detector performances, such as the drift velocity, electron lifetime, detector gain, and electric field distortion. The evolution of detector performances with gas purities and electric drift fields over a 50-day data-taking cycle was measured by the muon calibration method. For instance, the drift velocity degraded with gas impurities from ${3.40\pm 0.07 ~ cm/\mu s}$ to ${3.06\pm 0.06 ~ cm/\mu s}$, and then recovered with gas purification. A ${^{137}Cs}$ calibration source was also placed inside the detector as a reference for muon calibrations.

Polymer-sorted high-density carbon nanotube (CNT) arrays have shown great potential to extend the silicon-based Moore's law. Imaging the CNT arrays on insulators like SiO2/Si using low-voltage scanning electron microscopy (LVSEM) to acquire array information like the alignment, density, and distribution of residual polymers is necessary. Such a task remains challenging due to the nanoscale CNT body (1-2 nm in diameter), nanoscale tube-to-tube separation (1-10 nm), the broadening of the apparent diameter, and the complex image contrast caused by the insulating substrate and polymer residues. In this study, the imaging mechanism for this system is investigated. Two methods are developed to separate the three dominant contrasts, i.e. topographic contrast, charge contrast, and material contrast, by selecting the take-off angle and energy of the emitted electrons as enabled by changing the working distance or the deceleration voltage. The contrast formation and separation mechanism is further confirmed by the dynamic contrast evolution due to the electron-beam-induced deposition of amorphous carbon. The contrast separation method is further applied to an individual CNT, reducing its apparent diameter from 36 nm to 6 nm. This result hints at the potential for LVSEM to count the density exceeding 150 CNTs/um of CNT arrays. Finally, a comparative study of LVSEM and transmission electron microscopy confirms the failure of LVSEM to resolve CNTs in a bundle. The results suggest that the density of CNT arrays may be underestimated in reported SEM data. Beam monitoring and evaluation are very important to boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT), and a variety of detectors have been developed for these applications. However, most of the detectors used in BNCT only have a small detection area, leading to the inconvenience of the full-scale 2-D measurement of the beam. Based on micromegas technology, we designed a neutron detector with large detection area and high counting rate. This detector has a detection area of 288 mm multiples 288 mm and can measure thermal, epithermal, and fast neutrons with different detector settings. The BNCT experiments demonstrated that this detector has a very good 2-D imaging performance for the thermal, epithermal, fast neutron and gamma components, a highest counting rate of 94 kHz/channel, and a good linearity response to the beam power. Additionally, the flux fraction of each component can be calculated based on the measurement results. The Am-Be neutron source experiment indicates that this detector has a spatial resolution of approximately 1.4 mm, meeting the requirements of applications in BNCT. It is evident that this micromegas-based neutron detector with a large area and high counting rate capability has great development prospects in BNCT beam monitoring and evaluation applications.

The PICOSEC Micromegas precise timing detector is based on a Cherenkov radiator coupled to a semi-transparent photocathode and a Micromegas amplification structure. The first proof of concept single-channel small area prototype was able to achieve time resolution below 25 ps. One of the crucial aspects in the development of the precise timing gaseous detectors applicable in high-energy physics experiments is a modular design that enables large area coverage. The first 19-channel multi-pad prototype with an active area of approximately 10 cm$^2$ suffered from degraded timing resolution due to the non-uniformity of the preamplification gap. A new 100 cm$^2$ detector module with 100 channels based on a rigid hybrid ceramic/FR4 Micromegas board for improved drift gap uniformity was developed. Initial measurements with 80 GeV/c muons showed improvements in timing response over measured pads and a time resolution below 25 ps. More recent measurements with a new thinner drift gap detector module and newly developed RF pulse amplifiers show that the resolution can be enhanced to a level of 17~ps. This work will present the development of the detector from structural simulations, design, and beam test commissioning with a focus on the timing performance of a thinner drift gap detector module in combination with new electronics using an automated timing scan method.

The PICOSEC Micromegas (MM) detector is a precise timing gaseous detector consisting of a Cherenkov radiator combined with a photocathode and a MM amplifying structure. A 100-channel non-resistive PICOSEC MM prototype with 10x10 cm^2 active area equipped with a Cesium Iodide (CsI) photocathode demonstrated a time resolution below 18 ps. The objective of this work is to improve the PICOSEC MM detector robustness aspects; i.e. integration of resistive MM and carbon-based photocathodes; while maintaining good time resolution. The PICOSEC MM prototypes have been tested in laboratory conditions and successfully characterised with 150 GeV/c muon beams at the CERN SPS H4 beam line. The excellent timing performance below 20 ps for an individual pad obtained with the 10x10 cm^2 area resistive PICOSEC MM of 20 MOhm/sq showed no significant time resolution degradation as a result of adding a resistive layer. A single-pad prototype equipped with a 12 nm thick Boron Carbide (B4C) photocathode presented a time resolution below 35 ps; opening up new possibilities for detectors with robust photocathodes. The results made the concept more suitable for the experiments in need of robust detectors with good time resolution.

Tianwen-1 spacecraft (Wan et al. 2020) is China's first Mars exploration mission. The Mars Orbiter Magnetometer (MOMAG) is a scientific instrument aboard the Tianwen-1 mission that is designed to study magnetic fields at Mars, including the solar wind to the magnetosheath and the ionosphere. Using the first Tianwen-1/MOMAG data that is publicly available, we present interplanetary coronal mass ejection (ICME) and stream interaction region (SIR) catalogues based on in-situ observations at Mars between November 16, 2021, and December 31, 2021. We compared the magnetic field intensity and vector magnetic field measurements from Tianwen-1/MOMAG and Mars Atmospheric Volatile EvolutioN (MAVEN)/MAG during the ICME and SIR interval and found a generally good consistency between them. Due to MAVEN's orbital adjustment since 2019, the Tianwen-1/MOMAG instrument is currently the almost unique interplanetary magnetic field monitor at Mars. The observations indicate that the MOMAG instrument on Tianwen-1 is performing well and can provide accurate measurements of the vector magnetic field in the near-Mars solar wind space. The multi-point observations combining MOMAG, MINPA, and MEPA on board Tianwen-1 with MAG, SWIA, and STATIC on board MAVEN will open a window to systematically study the characteristic of ICMEs and SIRs at Mars, and their influences on the Martian atmosphere and ionosphere.

Social network data often contain missing values because of the sensitive nature of the information collected and the dependency among the network actors. As a response, network imputation methods including simple ones constructed from network structural characteristics and more complicated model-based ones have been developed. Although past studies have explored the influence of missing data on social networks and the effectiveness of imputation procedures in many missing data conditions, the current study aims to evaluate a more extensive set of eight network imputation techniques (i.e., null-tie, Reconstruction, Preferential Attachment, Con strained Random Dot Product Graph, Multiple Imputation by Bayesian Exponential Random Graph Models or BERGMs, k-Nearest Neighbors, Random Forest, and Multiple Imputation by Chained Equations) under more practical conditions through comprehensive simulation. A factorial design for missing data conditions is adopted with factors including missing data types, missing data mechanisms, and missing data proportions, which are applied to generated social networks with varying numbers of actors based on 4 different sets of coefficients in ERGMs. Results show that the effectiveness of imputation methods differs by missing data types, missing data mechanisms, the evaluation criteria used, and the complexity of the social networks. More complex methods such as the BERGMs have consistently good performances in recovering missing edges that should have been present. While simpler methods like Reconstruction work better in recovering network statistics when the missing proportion of present edges is low, the BERGMs work better when more present edges are missing. The BERGMs also work well in recovering ERGM coefficients when the networks are complex and the missing data type is actor non-response. In conclusion, researchers analyzing social networks with incomplete data should identify the network structures of interest and the potential missing data types before selecting appropriate imputation methods. In neutron transmutation doped germanium, the thermal neutron fluence of reactor irradiation is as high as 10$^{18}$~n$\cdot$cm$^{-2}$. For radiological safety reasons, general Co or Au neutron flux monitors cannot be easily used. We have experimentally demonstrated the feasibility of measuring the X-rays emitted by the NTD-Ge itself to determine the absolute thermal neutron fluence for the first time. A Micro-Megas Detector (MMD) and a Silicon Drift Detector (SDD) are set up to detect the tagging KX-rays with 9.2 keV and 10.3 keV cascading from the decays of $^{71}$Ge. Combined the detection efficiencies calculated by GEANT4, neutron fluence results given with proper accuracy by MMD and SDD are in a good agreement with each other.

The segmentation of atrial scan images is of great significance for the three-dimensional reconstruction of the atrium and the surgical positioning. Most of the existing segmentation networks adopt a 2D structure and only take original images as input, ignoring the context information of 3D images and the role of prior information. In this paper, we propose an atrium segmentation network LGSANet with location guidance and siamese adjustment, which takes adjacent three slices of images as input and adopts an end-to-end approach to achieve coarse-to-fine atrial segmentation. The location guidance(LG) block uses the prior information of the localization map to guide the encoding features of the fine segmentation stage, and the siamese adjustment(SA) block uses the context information to adjust the segmentation edges. On the atrium datasets of ACDC and ASC, sufficient experiments prove that our method can adapt to many classic 2D segmentation networks, so that it can obtain significant performance improvements., Comment: 17 pages,9 figures

Supervised Deep-Learning (DL)-based reconstruction algorithms have shown state-of-the-art results for highly-undersampled dynamic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) reconstruction. However, the requirement of excessive high-quality ground-truth data hinders their applications due to the generalization problem. Recently, Implicit Neural Representation (INR) has appeared as a powerful DL-based tool for solving the inverse problem by characterizing the attributes of a signal as a continuous function of corresponding coordinates in an unsupervised manner. In this work, we proposed an INR-based method to improve dynamic MRI reconstruction from highly undersampled k-space data, which only takes spatiotemporal coordinates as inputs. Specifically, the proposed INR represents the dynamic MRI images as an implicit function and encodes them into neural networks. The weights of the network are learned from sparsely-acquired (k, t)-space data itself only, without external training datasets or prior images. Benefiting from the strong implicit continuity regularization of INR together with explicit regularization for low-rankness and sparsity, our proposed method outperforms the compared scan-specific methods at various acceleration factors. E.g., experiments on retrospective cardiac cine datasets show an improvement of 5.5 ~ 7.1 dB in PSNR for extremely high accelerations (up to 41.6-fold). Deep-learning-based technologies such as deepfakes ones have been attracting widespread attention in both society and academia, particularly ones used to synthesize forged face images. These automatic and professional-skill-free face manipulation technologies can be used to replace the face in an original image or video with any target object while maintaining the expression and demeanor. Since human faces are closely related to identity characteristics, maliciously disseminated identity manipulated videos could trigger a crisis of public trust in the media and could even have serious political, social, and legal implications. To effectively detect manipulated videos, we focus on the position offset in the face blending process, resulting from the forced affine transformation of the normalized forged face. We introduce a method for detecting manipulated videos that is based on the trajectory of the facial region displacement. Specifically, we develop a virtual-anchor-based method for extracting the facial trajectory, which can robustly represent displacement information. This information was used to construct a network for exposing multidimensional artifacts in the trajectory sequences of manipulated videos that is based on dual-stream spatial-temporal graph attention and a gated recurrent unit backbone. Testing of our method on various manipulation datasets demonstrated that its accuracy and generalization ability is competitive with that of the leading detection methods.

The recent emergence of joint CTC-Attention model shows significant improvement in automatic speech recognition (ASR). The improvement largely lies in the modeling of linguistic information by decoder. The decoder joint-optimized with an acoustic encoder renders the language model from ground-truth sequences in an auto-regressive manner during training. However, the training corpus of the decoder is limited to the speech transcriptions, which is far less than the corpus needed to train an acceptable language model. This leads to poor robustness of decoder. To alleviate this problem, we propose linguistic-enhanced transformer, which introduces refined CTC information to decoder during training process, so that the decoder can be more robust. Our experiments on AISHELL-1 speech corpus show that the character error rate (CER) is relatively reduced by up to 7%. Medical image segmentation based on deep learning is often faced with the problems of insufficient datasets and long time-consuming labeling. In this paper, we introduce the self-supervised method MAE(Masked Autoencoders) into knee joint images to provide a good initial weight for the segmentation model and improve the adaptability of the model to small datasets. Secondly, we propose a weakly supervised paradigm for meniscus segmentation based on the combination of point and line to reduce the time of labeling. Based on the weak label ,we design a region growing algorithm to generate pseudo-label. Finally we train the segmentation network based on pseudo-labels with weight transfer from self-supervision. Sufficient experimental results show that our proposed method combining self-supervision and weak supervision can almost approach the performance of purely fully supervised models while greatly reducing the required labeling time and dataset size., Comment: 8 pages,10 figures

Super tau-Charm facility(STCF) is a future electron-position collider operating at tau-Charm energy region aimed to study hadron structure and spectroscopy. The baseline design of the STCF barrel particle identification(PID) detector in the momentum range up to 2 GeV/c is provided by a Ring Imaging Cherenkov Counter(RICH). The architecture of the RICH is an approximately focusing design with liquid perfluorohexane sealed in the quartz container as radiator and a hybrid combination of a CsI coated layers of THGEMs and a Micromegas as the photo-electron detector. A 16*16 cm^2 prototype with quartz radiator has been built and tested at DESY. It was stably operated with 10^5 effective gain. In this paper, we present a methodology for fisheries-related data that allows us to converge on a labeled image dataset by iterating over the dataset with multiple training and production loops that can exploit crowdsourcing interfaces. We present our algorithm and its results on two separate sets of image data collected using the Seabed autonomous underwater vehicle. The first dataset comprises of 2,026 completely unlabeled images, while the second consists of 21,968 images that were point annotated by experts. Our results indicate that training with a small subset and iterating on that to build a larger set of labeled data allows us to converge to a fully annotated dataset with a small number of iterations. Even in the case of a dataset labeled by experts, a single iteration of the methodology improves the labels by discovering additional complicated examples of labels associated with fish that overlap, are very small, or obscured by the contrast limitations associated with underwater imagery.

In this paper, we look at the role of autonomous navigation in the maritime domain. Specifically, we examine how an Autonomous Surface Vessel(ASV) can achieve obstacle avoidance based on the Convention on the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (1972), or COLREGs, in real-world environments. Our ASV is equipped with a broadband marine radar, an Inertial Navigation System (INS), and uses official Electronic Navigational Charts (ENC). These sensors are used to provide situational awareness and, in series of well-defined steps, we can exclude land objects from the radar data, extract tracks associated with moving vessels within range of the radar, and then use a Kalman Filter to track and predict the motion of other moving vessels in the vicinity. A Constant Velocity model for the Kalman Filter allows us to solve the data association to build a consistent model between successive radar scans. We account for multiple COLREGs situations based on the predicted relative motion. Finally, an efficient path planning algorithm is presented to find a path and publish waypoints to perform real-time COLREGs compliant autonomous navigation within highly constrained environments. We demonstrate the results of our framework with operational results collected over the course of a 3.4 nautical mile mission on the Charles River in Boston in which the ASV encountered and successfully navigated multiple scenarios and encounters with other moving vessels at close quarters.

In this work, a novel method to grow high-quality and large bilayer graphene (BLG) directly on various dielectric substrates was demonstrated. Large area single-crystal monolayer graphene was applied as a seeding layer to facilitate the homo-epitaxial synthesis of single crystal BLG directly on insulating substrates. The Cu nano-powders (Cu NP) with nanostructure and high surface-area were used as the remote catalysis to provide long-lasting catalytic activity during the graphene growth. The TEM results confirmed the single-crystalline nature of the BLG domains, which validates the superiority of the homo-epitaxial growth technique. The as-grown BLG show comparable quality with the CVD-grown BLG on metal surface. Field-effect transistors directly fabricated on the as-grown BLG/SiO$ _2 $/Si showed a room temperature carrier mobility as high as 2297 cm $ ^2 $ V$ ^{-1}$ s $^{-1} $.

This submission will focus on advancements and advantages of Micro Pattern Gas Detector (MPGD) technologies and their applications to the construction of a dedicated Time Projection Chamber (TPC) that can serve as an excellent main tracker for any multipurpose detector that can be foreseen to operate at a future lepton collider. The first portion of the report will be the executive summary. It will be followed by sections detailing the applications of MPGDs specifically to the construction of the LCTPC for the ILD at ILC, for a possible upgrade of the Belle II detector at SuperKEKB and for the design of a TPC for a detector at CEPC. MPGD technologies offer synergies with other detector R&D and several application domains; a few examples will be provided in the context of the ongoing Snowmass long range planning exercise in the USA.
