63. Deeply Coupled Convolution–Transformer With Spatial–Temporal Complementary Learning for Video-Based Person Re-Identification

Abstract

Advanced deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have shown great success in video-based person re-identification (Re-ID). However, they usually focus on the most obvious regions of persons with a limited global representation ability. Recently, it witnesses that Transformers explore the interpatch relationships with global observations for performance improvements. In this work, we take both the sides and propose a novel spatial–temporal complementary learning framework named deeply coupled convolution–transformer (DCCT) for high-performance video-based person Re-ID. First, we couple CNNs and Transformers to extract two kinds of visual features and experimentally verify their complementarity. Furthermore, in spatial, we propose a complementary content attention (CCA) to take advantages of the coupled structure and guide independent features for spatial complementary learning. In temporal, a hierarchical temporal aggregation (HTA) is proposed to progressively capture the interframe dependencies and encode temporal information. Besides, a gated attention (GA) is used to deliver aggregated temporal information into the CNN and Transformer branches for temporal complementary learning. Finally, we introduce a self-distillation training strategy to transfer the superior spatial–temporal knowledge to backbone networks for higher accuracy and more efficiency. In this way, two kinds of typical features from same videos are integrated mechanically for more informative representations. Extensive experiments on four public Re-ID benchmarks demonstrate that our framework could attain better performances than most state-of-the-art methods.

Abstract

Distinguished from the goods-dominant logic, service-dominant logic has suggested customers are value cocreators. However, in boutique hotels where services are highly individualized and interactive between hotel staff and customers, the role of customer value cocreating might be different compared to a normal service encounter. Yet limited studies have demonstrated whether customers' value cocreation behaviors have changed in boutique hotels and its corresponding mechanism. This study aims to fulfill this gap by examining customer value cocreation behavior (i.e., citizenship behavior via feedback, advocacy, helping and tolerance) from the impact of hospitableness (personalization, warm welcome, deeper connection, and comfort), perceived value, and satisfaction. Data were obtained in China via an online marketing research panel. Results from confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modelling (SEM) showed that both hospitableness and perceived value positively affect satisfaction, while perceived value also partially mediates the relationship between hospitableness and satisfaction. An interesting finding indicates that satisfaction impacts citizenship behavior in a following descending order: advocacy, feedback, helping, and tolerance. Two demographic variables (i.e., marital status, household incomes) were found to moderate the relationship between satisfaction and citizenship behavior. This study contributes to the literature on service-dominant logic, value cocreation, and boutique guest experiences. 81. Equidimensional Piezoelectric Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducer Array With Synchronously Improved Bandwidth and Sensitivity

Abstract

Common methods to enhance PMUT arrays’ Bandwidth (BW) may compromise the sensitivity and fill factor. This study introduces a novel PMUT array with circular suspended plate structure and variable mass load atop the membranes to establish identical cell size but different resonant frequencies, and finally achieves a broad BW, improved sensitivity and augmented fill factor. Four such kinds PMUT arrays (20 element $\times 25$ cells) with different mass loads are studied and compared to traditional one with clamped boundary. In each design, 13 variations of cells equipped with varying-diameter mass load are integrated in one element (25 cells), resulting in a notable large BW. This design features PMUTs with an equidimensional cell size, leading a heightened filling factor compared to current wideband PMUTs with multi-size cells. Prototyped devices are fabricated and show a 1.7X improvement in membrane volume displacement, 1.5X higher ultrasound pulse-echo sensitivity and 5.2X increase in BW, from 17% to 89% @ 5.5 MHz center frequency, comparing to the traditional one. Abstract

Acetone plays a critical role in environmental protection and human healthcare, thus necessitating sensitive and selective detection. In this regard, a resistive microelectromechanical system (MEMS) acetone sensor featuring a sensing layer of $\alpha $ -Fe2O3 nanoparticles modified tungsten trioxide (WO3) nanoplates is utilized in this work. After optimizing the composition proportion and operating temperature, the Fe/W:0.2 sensor delivered a wide detection range (0.05–80 ppm), and an approximately sevenfold higher response of 40.6 toward 10 ppm acetone at $217~^{\circ }$ C than pure WO3 analog. In addition, a limit of detection (LoD) of 50 ppb was achieved, which ranks among the lowest cases thus far. Together with excellent repeatability, selectivity, and long-term stability, the sensor also showed a humidity-enhanced response. This work offers an alternative strategy to realize trace acetone detection within high-humidity conditions and showcases a huge application potential in exhaled breath-involving diabetes monitoring in the future.
