Abstract

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the most common arrhythmia diseases, the incidence of which is ascendant with age increase. What's more, AF is a high-risk factor for stroke, ischemia myocardial and other malignant cardiovascular diseases, which would threaten people's life significantly. Using a mobile device to screen AF segments is an effective way to reduce the mortality and morbidity of malignant cardiovascular diseases. However, most of existing AF detection methods mainly centered on clinical resting ECG signals and were incapable of processing mobile ECG signals with low signal-to-noise ratio which collected by mobile devices. In this paper, we take advantage of a fully convolutional network variant named U-Net for heart rhythmic information capturing by locating R peak positions as well as calculating RR intervals and a 34-layer residual network for waveform morphological features capturing from ECG signals. Combining both rhythmic information and waveform morphological features, two-layer fully connected networks are employed successively to discriminate AF, normal sinus rhythm , and other abnormal rhythm (other). The extensive experimental results show that our proposed AF our proposed AF screening framework named FRM-CNN can achieve F 1 value of 85.08 ± 0.99% and accuracy of 87.22 ± 0.71 % on identifying AF segments well without handcraft engineering. Compared with the cutting-edge AF detection methods, the FRM-CNN has more superior performance on monitoring people's health conditions with mobile devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Based on water potential theory and due to the first law of thermodynamics, vacuum drying heat and mass transfer characteristics of a single grain were analyzed, a mathematical model was built and. using analytic method for numerical solution of differential. The heat and mass transfer simulation system under vacuum dry conditions was obtained. This system operable, performance and reliable, which can input physical Parameters and drying conditions of initial material and simulate internal temperature, moisture, pressure, water potential distribution and average temperature and moisture directly, provide basis and reference for the improvement of grain drying quality and efficiency.

Abstract

Process control over rice vacuum drying directly affects the taste quality of dried rice. Drying temperature, initial rice moisture content and vacuum degree are the main parameters that affect rice-drying process. This paper makes research on the change law of taste quality of brown rice versus drying parameters during vacuum drying process through establishment of neural network model between brown rice taste value and drying parameters, which will provide reference for objective evaluation on rice taste, dried rice quality and the design of vacuum dryer. The results show that, BP neural network model predicts the average relative error of 2.88%, correlation coefficient of 0.96, BP neural network can serve as a new model for description of rice taste value of vacuum drying.

Abstract

A large fraction of engineered nanomaterials in consumer and commercial products will reach natural ecosystems. To date, research on the biological impacts of environmental nanomaterial exposures has largely focused on high-concentration exposures in mechanistic lab studies with single strains of model organisms. These results are difficult to extrapolate to ecosystems, where exposures will likely be at low-concentrations and which are inhabited by a diversity of organisms. Here we show adverse responses of plants and microorganisms in a replicated long-term terrestrial mesocosm field experiment following a single low dose of silver nanoparticles (0.14 mg Ag kg−1 soil) applied via a likely route of exposure, sewage biosolid application. While total aboveground plant biomass did not differ between treatments receiving biosolids, one plant species, Microstegium vimeneum, had 32 % less biomass in the Slurry+AgNP treatment relative to the Slurry only treatment. Microorganisms were also affected by AgNP treatment, which gave a significantly different community composition of bacteria in the Slurry+AgNPs as opposed to the Slurry treatment one day after addition as analyzed by T-RFLP analysis of 16S-rRNA genes. After eight days, N2O flux was 4.5 fold higher in the Slurry+AgNPs treatment than the Slurry treatment. After fifty days, community composition and N2O flux of the Slurry+AgNPs treatment converged with the Slurry. However, the soil microbial extracellular enzymes leucine amino peptidase and phosphatase had 52 and 27% lower activities, respectively, while microbial biomass was 35% lower than the Slurry. We also show that the magnitude of these responses was in all cases as large as or larger than the positive control, AgNO3, added at 4-fold the Ag concentration of the silver nanoparticles.

Abstract

Underwater CO 2 concentration fluctuates extremely in natural water bodies. Under low CO 2 , the unique CO 2 concentrating mechanism in aquatic plants, bicarbonate use, can suppress photorespiration. However, it remains unknown (1) to what extent bicarbonate use reduces photorespiration, (2) how exactly photorespiration varies between bicarbonate-users and CO 2 -obligate users under CO 2 -fluctuated environments, and (3) what are differences in Rubisco characteristics between these two types of aquatic plants. In the present study, the bicarbonate user Ottelia alismoides and its phylogenetically close CO 2 -obligate user Blyxa japonica were chosen to answer these questions. The results showed that bicarbonate use saved ~13% carbon loss under low CO 2 via decreasing photorespiration in O. alismoides. Through bicarbonate use, the photorespiration of O. alismoides was kept stable both under high and low underwater CO 2 concentrations, while the photorespiration significantly increased in the CO 2 -obligate user B. japonica under low CO 2 . However, B. japonica showed a significantly higher photosynthesis rate than O. alsimoides when CO 2 was sufficient. These differences could be related to the kinetic characteristics of Rubisco showing a higher carboxylation turnover rate (Kcat) in B. japonica, and the similar affinity to CO 2 (Kc) and specificity factor (Sc/o) in these two species that might be determined by the variation of six amino acid residuals in Rubisco large subunit sequences, especially the site 281 (A vs. S) and 282 (H vs. F). All these differences in photorespiration and kinetic characteristics of Rubisco could explain the distribution patterns of bicarbonate users and CO 2 -obligate users in the field., (© 2025 Scandinavian Plant Physiology Society.)
