Abstract

中国遼寧省瀋陽市の工業区、文化区および清浄区において2000年1月に大気エアロゾル試料を採取し、化学成分の分析を行った。その結果、陰イオン成分の中で硫酸イオンの濃度が顕著に高濃度であり、石炭燃焼排出物の影響が依然として強く現れていることがわかった。また水溶性性物質のイオンバランスを検討した結果、陰イオン側に傾いたバランス異常が見られた。この理由として、極低温下ではSO2の気相反応(中和反応)が進まず、 SO2の粒子吸着体がフィルターの捕集され、保存中に硫酸イオンまで酸化されたとする仮説を立てた。金属元素の中では、ヒ素および亜鉛の地殻濃縮係数が有意に高く、人為的発生源(亜鉛の精錬工程、石炭燃焼など)の影響が示唆された。また大気エアロゾル中の各化学成分の挙動を考察するため、風向別寄与濃度の推定を試みたところ、工業区と文化区の間にヒ素の強い発生源が存在すること、文化区の硫酸イオンは輸送による寄与が大きいことなどが示唆された。, 表紙上部に"日本学術振興会未来開拓学術研究推進事業複合領域「アジア地域の環境保全」"の表示あり

76. Externality and policy intervention in interregional travel with infectious diseases.

Abstract

This paper theoretically investigates externalities and policy interventions in travel during a pandemic. We develop a tractable static model of two regions from a short-run perspective. The model shows that the externalities can be both negative and positive, depending on regional asymmetry. Thus, even when infectious diseases are widespread, travel restrictions do not necessarily reduce infections and do not necessarily improve social welfare. A formula for the optimal policy intervention is derived and shown to be the weighted average of four types of externalities defined by the direction of travel and the epidemiological status of a traveler., (© 2024 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.)

Abstract

Estimation of the continuous hemodiafiltration (CHDF) clearance (CL CHDF ) of ganciclovir (GCV) is crucial for achieving efficient treatment outcomes. Here, we aimed to clarify the contribution of diafiltration, adsorption, and hematocrit level to the CL CHDF of GCV in an in vitro CHDF model using three membranes: polyacrylonitrile and sodium methallyl sulfonate copolymer coated with polyethylenimine (AN69ST); polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA); and polysulfone (PS). In vitro CHDF was performed with effluent flow rates (Qe) of 800, 1500, and 3000 mL/h. The initial GCV concentration was 10 µg/mL while that of human serum albumin (HSA) was 0 or 5 g/dL. The CL CHDF , diafiltration rates, and adsorption rates were calculated. The whole blood-to-plasma ratio (R) of GCV for a hematocrit of 0.1 to 0.5 was determined using blood samples with 0.5 to 100 µg/mL of GCV. The in vitro CHDF experiment using AN69ST, PMMA, and PS membranes showed that the total CL CHDF values were almost the same as the Qe and not influenced by the HSA concentration. The diafiltration rate exceeded 88.1 ± 2.8% while the adsorption rate was lower than 9.4 ± 9.4% in all conditions. The R value was 1.89 ± 0.11 and was similar at all hematocrit levels and GCV concentrations. In conclusion, diafiltration mainly contributes to the CL CHDF of GCV, rather than adsorption. Hematocrit levels might not affect the relationship between the plasma and blood CL CHDF of GCV, and the CL CHDF of GCV can be estimated from the Qe and R, at least in vitro.

Abstract

Vancomycin (VM) is used as empirical therapy for bacterial meningitis (BM). We investigated the relationship of the microbiological efficacy of VM for BM with VM minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC VM ), serum VM trough concentration (VM ser ) and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) protein (P)/serum albumin (SA) ratio, which may reflect the extent of blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption. Twelve BM patients were enrolled and VM was microbiologically effective in seven (58.3%). VM ser , MIC VM , and CSF-P/SA ratio were not associated with the microbiological efficacy of VM. The microbiological efficacy of VM was significantly associated with CSF-P/SA ratio multiplied by VM ser relative to the MIC VM (η = 0.61, p  = 0.04). These results indicate that the parameter combining VM ser , MIC VM , and the extent of BBB disruption could be associated with the microbiological efficacy of VM in BM patients.
