Abstract: We report the first measurement of the lepton forward-backward asymmetry AFB as a function of the squared four-momentum of the dilepton system, q2, for the electroweak penguin process B→Xsl+l- with a sum of exclusive final states, where l is an electron or a muon and Xs is a hadronic recoil system with an s quark. The results are based on a data sample containing 772×106 BB¯ pairs recorded at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. AFB for the inclusive B→Xsl+l- is extrapolated from the sum of 10 exclusive Xs states whose invariant mass is less than 2 GeV/c2. For q2>10.2 GeV2/c2, AFB

Abstract: The second generation of Belle Silicon Vertex Detector (SVD) has been efficiently operated for more than three years. With increasing beam-induced background, a degradation of the detector performance is expected. To avoid such a difficulty, we are planing a next upgrade, the third generation of the SVD. Currently, its design is almost finalized.

Abstract: Development of a monolithic pixel detector based on SOI (silicon on insulator) technology was started at KEK in 2005. The substrate of the SOI wafer is used as a radiation sensor. At end of 2005, we submitted several test-structure group (TEG) chips for the 150 nm, fully depleted CMOS process. The TEG designs and preliminary results are presented.

Abstract: In order to extend the physics reach of the present B factories, a letter of intent for a Super B factory, with a luminosity of 4×1035cm-2s-1, was submitted in 2004. The paper summarizes recent progress in the design and technological solutions for the silicon vertex detector to be operated at the expected high data rate and background condition of a Super B factory.

Abstract: The silicon vertex detector (SVD2) of the Belle experiment at KEK (Tsukuba, Japan) is currently close to its limits in terms of the occupancy of the innermost layer and the readout dead time. In order to cope with further increase in luminosity, different levels of upgrades are proposed: small improvements are possible in the short term by tuning the current system at the cost of signal-to-noise and crosstalk. In 2007, the two inner layers of the SVD2 will be replaced by similar detectors with faster readout electronics (SVD2.5) and in the long term, a major upgrade of the full silicon vertex detector (SVD3) is envisaged for the KEK Super B Factory. These upgrade scenarios will be discussed in detail from the hardware point of view along with the options under study.

Abstract: A new silicon vertex detector for the Belle experiment has been in operation at the high-luminosity asymmetric energy electron–positron collider KEKB since October 2003. It provides a larger polar angle acceptance, a better vertex resolution and a higher radiation tolerance than the previous one. The obtained performances indicate that the SVD2 works reliably, in very good agreement with expectations.

Abstract: The old silicon vertex detector (SVD1) of the Belle detector, operating at the high-luminosity asymmetric energy e+e− collider KEKB, was replaced by an upgraded version (SVD2) in 2003. The new detector has modified geometry and redesigned readout electronics, providing a larger polar angle acceptance, better vertex resolution, improved radiation hardness and reduced dead time. The operation of the detector started successfully in October 2003. The basic concepts of the SVD2 design as well as its performance after 10 months of data taking are described in this paper.

Abstract: Using kaon secondary interactions in the material of the Belle detector, we search for both inclusive and exclusive production of the Θ(1540) +. We set an upper limit of 2.5% at the 90% C.L. on the ratio of the Θ(1540)+ to Λ(1520) inclusive production cross sections. We also search for the Θ(1540)+ as an intermediate resonance in the charge exchange reaction K+n→pKS 0. We set an upper limit of ΓΘ+

Abstract: We report measurements of time-dependent decay rates for B 0 → D ∗ ∓ π ± decays and extraction of CP violation parameters related to ϕ 3 . We use a partial reconstruction technique, whereby signal events are identified using information only from the primary pion and the charged pion from the decay of the D ∗ ∓ . The analysis uses 140 fb −1 of data accumulated at the ϒ ( 4 S ) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e + e − collider. We measure the CP violation parameters S + = 0.035 ± 0.041 ( stat ) ± 0.018 ( syst ) and S − = 0.025 ± 0.041 ( stat ) ± 0.018 ( syst ) .

Abstract: We present measurements of the branching fraction, the polarization parameters and CP-violating asymmetries in B0→D*+D *- decays using a 140 fb-1 data sample collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e+e- collider. We obtain B(B0→D*+D*-)=[0. 81±0.08(stat)±0.11(syst)]×10-3, R⊥=0.19±0. 08(stat)±0.01(syst), R0=0.57±0.08(stat)±0.02(syst), S=-0.75±0.56(stat)±0.12(syst) and A=-0.26±0.26(stat) ±0.06(syst). Consistency with Standard Model expectations is also discussed.

Abstract: We report measurements of radiative B decays with K η γ final states, using a data sample of 253 fb −1 recorded at the ϒ ( 4 S ) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e + e − storage ring. We observe B + → K + η γ for the first time with a branching fraction of ( 8.4 ± 1.5 (stat) −0.9 +1.2 (syst) ) × 10 −6 for M K η 2.4 GeV / c 2 , and find evidence of B 0 → K 0 η γ . We also search for B → K 3 ∗ ( 1780 ) γ .

Abstract: We report a measurement of the Ξ c + and Ξ c 0 baryon masses, and the branching ratios for various Ξ c decays, using 140 fb −1 of data collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB e + e − collider. The mass splitting m Ξ c 0 − m Ξ c + is found to be 2.9 ± 0.5 MeV / c 2 ; this measurement is three times as precise as the current world average. We measure the branching ratios Γ ( Ξ c + → Λ K − π + π + ) / Γ ( Ξ c + → Ξ − π + π + ) = 0.32 ± 0.03 ± 0.02 and Γ ( Ξ c 0 → p K − K − π + ) / Γ ( Ξ c 0 → Ξ − π + ) = 0.33 ± 0.03 ± 0.03 , with improved precision, and measure Γ ( Ξ c + → p K S 0 K S 0 ) / Γ ( Ξ c + → Ξ − π + π + ) = 0.087 ± 0.016 ± 0.014 , Γ ( Ξ c 0 → Λ K − π + ) / Γ ( Ξ c 0 → Ξ − π + ) = 1.07 ± 0.12 ± 0.07 and Γ ( Ξ c 0 → Λ K S 0 ) / Γ ( Ξ c 0 → Ξ − π + ) = 0.21 ± 0.02 ± 0.02 for the first time.

Abstract: A major upgrade of the Silicon Vertex Detector (SVD 2.0) of the Belle experiment at the KEKB factory was installed along with new front-end and back-end electronics systems during the summer shutdown period in 2003 to cope with higher particle rates, improve the track resolution and meet the increasing requirements of radiation tolerance. The SVD 2.0 detector modules are read out by VA1TA chips which provide “fast or” (hit) signals that are combined by the back-end FADCTF modules to coarse, but immediate level 0 track trigger signals at rates of several tens of a kHz. Moreover, the digitized detector signals are compared to threshold lookup tables in the FADCTFs to pass on hit information on a single strip basis to the subsequent level 1.5 trigger system, which reduces the rate below the kHz range. Both FADCTF and level 1.5 electronics make use of parallel real-time processing in Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), while further data acquisition and event building is done by PC farms running Linux. The new readout system hardware is described and the first results obtained with cosmics are shown.

Abstract: We have developed a new data acquisition system (DAQ) utilizing PC farms for the upgraded silicon vertex detector (SVD2) in the Belle experiment at the KEKB factory. The SVD upgrade will increase the number of readout channels by about 50% to 110592. The maximum trigger rate is also expected to rise to 1.0kHz due to the increasing beam intensity from KEKB. To manage the increased dataflow, we have constructed the DAQ system with twelve Linux PCs, each of which is directly connected to three flash AD converter boards through PCI data I/O boards. The advantages of using the PCs include the ease of software maintenance, market availability of hardware when replacements are needed, scalability and much improved processing speed. In order to decrease the data transfer load to the data storage system, we have developed data sparsification algorithms that calculate pedestal and noise, find particle hit channels and thus reduce the data down to 5% of the original volume. We have measured the data processing speed of the system at various read-out channel occupancy levels. The system is able to process data at a 1.3kHz trigger rate with 5% occupancy and will thus be able to handle the anticipated 1.0kHz trigger rate.

Abstract: During the summer shutdown of 2003, the new silicon vertex detector SVD2 was installed in Belle at the KEKB factory and started to take data in October 2003. It provides important improvements in the tracking capabilities and adds new trigger functionality. In addition, a new hardware trigger Level 1.5 was designed and installed that takes advantage of the digitized SVD hit data. The improvement in the Belle trigger system will be important to deal with the increasing luminosity and higher beam currents of the KEKB factory.

Abstract: We present measurements of CP-violating parameters in $B^0(\bar{B}{}^0) \to \eta^\prime K_S^0$ and $B^{\pm} \to \eta' K^{\pm}$ decays based on a 41.8 fb$^{-1}$ data sample collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+} e^{-}$ collider. We fully reconstruct one neutral $B$ meson as a $B^0(\bar{B}{}^0) \to \eta^\prime K_S^0$ CP eigenstate and identify the flavor of the accompanying $B$ from its decay products. From the distribution of time intervals between pairs of $B$ meson decay points, we obtain the CP-violating asymmetry parameters ${\mathcal S}_{\eta^\prime K_S^0} = 0.28\pm0.55(stat)^{+0.07}_{-0.08}(syst)$, and ${\mathcal A}_{\eta^\prime K_S^0} = 0.13\pm0.32(stat)^{+0.09}_{-0.06}(syst)$. We also reconstruct charged $B^{\pm} \to \eta^\prime K^{\pm}$ decays and determine a direct-CP violating asymmetry value of ${\mathcal A}_{\eta^\prime K^\pm}=(-1.5\pm7.0(stat)\pm0.9(syst))%$.

Abstract: The B -> D^{(*)} K^- K^{(*)0} decays have been observed for the first time. The branching fractions of the B -> D^{(*)} K^- K^{(*)0} decay modes are measured. Significant signals are found for the B -> D^{(*)} K^- K^{*0} and B^- -> D^0 K^- K^0_S decay modes. The invariant mass and polarization distributions for the K^-K^{*0} and K^-K^0_S subsystems have been studied. For the K^-K^{*0} sybsystem these distributions agree well with those expected for two-body B -> D^{(*)} a_1^-(1260) decays, with a_1^-(1260) -> K^- K^{*0}. The analysis was done using 29.4 fb^{-1} of data collected with the Belle detector at the e^+ e^- asymmetric collider KEKB.

Abstract: This paper describes a study of B meson decays to the pseudoscalar-vector final state \rho\pi using 31.9\times 10^6 B\bar{B} events collected with the Belle detector at KEKB. The branching fractions B(B^+ \to \rho^0\pi^+) = (8.0^{+2.3+0.7}_{-2.0-0.7}) \times 10^{-6} and B(B^0 -> \rho^{+-} \pi^{-+}) = (20.8^{+6.0+2.8}_{-6.3-3.1}) \times 10^{-6} are obtained. In addition, a 90% confidence level upper limit of B(B^0 \to \rho^0\pi^0) < 5.3 \times 10^{-6}is reported.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the branching fraction for the semileptonic B decay B 0 →D + l − ν , where l− can be either an electron or a muon. We find Γ( B 0 →D + l − ν )=(13.79±0.76±2.51) ns −1 , and the resulting branching fraction B ( B 0 →D + l − ν )=(2.13±0.12±0.39)% , where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. We also investigate the B 0 →D + l − ν form factor and the implications of the result for |Vcb|. From a fit to the differential decay distribution we obtain the rate normalization |Vcb|FD(1)=(4.11±0.44±0.52)×10−2. Using a theoretical calculation of FD(1), the Cabibbo–Kobayashi–Maskawa matrix element |Vcb|=(4.19±0.45±0.53±0.30)×10−2 is obtained, where the last error comes from the theoretical uncertainty of FD(1). The results are based on a data sample of 10.2fb−1 recorded at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e− collider.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the Cabibbo–Kobayashi–Maskawa (CKM) matrix element |Vcb| using a 10.2 fb−1 data sample recorded at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e+e− storage ring. By extrapolating the differential decay width of the B 0 →D ∗+ e − ν decay to the kinematic limit at which the D ∗+ is at rest with respect to the B 0 , we extract the product of |Vcb| with the normalization of the decay form factor F(1), |Vcb|F(1)=(3.54±0.19±0.18)×10−2, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. A value of |Vcb|=(3.88±0.21±0.20±0.19)×10−2 is obtained using a theoretical calculation of F(1), where the third error is due to the theoretical uncertainty in the value of F(1). The branching fraction B ( B 0 →D ∗+ e − ν ) is measured to be (4.59±0.23±0.40)×10−2.

Abstract: We report a measurement of D-0-(D) over bar(0) mixing parameters and a search for indirect CP violation through a time-dependent amplitude analysis of D-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-) decays. The results are based on 921 fb(-1) of data accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. Assuming CP conservation, we measure the mixing parameters x = (0.56 +/- 0.19(-0.09-0.09)(+0.03+0.06))% and y = (0.30 +/- 0.15(-0.05-0.06)(+0.04+0.03))%, where the errors are statistical, experimental systematic, and systematic due to the amplitude model, respectively. With CP violation allowed, the parameters vertical bar q/p vertical bar = 0.90(-0.15-0.04-0.05)(+0.16+0.05+0.06) and arg(q/p) = (- 6 +/- 11 +/- 3(-4)(+3))degrees are found to be consistent with conservation of CP symmetry in mixing and in the interference between mixing and decay, respectively.

Abstract: We report measurements for two-body charmless B decays with an eta' meson in the final state. Using 11.1X10^6 BBbar pairs collected with the Belle detector, we find BF(B^+ ->eta'K^+)=(79^+12_-11 +-9)x10^-6 and BF(B^0 -> eta'K^0)=(55^+19_-16 +-8)x10^-6, where the first and second errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. No signal is observed in the mode B^+ -> eta' pi^+, and we set a 90% confidence level upper limit of BF(B^+-> eta'pi^+) eta'K^+- decays is investigated and a limit at 90% confidence level of -0.20

Abstract: We report a determination of the ${B}_{d}^{0}\ensuremath{-}{\overline{B}}_{d}^{0}$ mixing parameter $\ensuremath{\Delta}{m}_{d}$ based on the time evolution of dilepton yields in $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(4S)$ decays. The measurement is based on a $5.9{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ data sample collected by the Belle detector at KEKB. The proper-time difference distributions for same-sign and opposite-sign dilepton events are simultaneously fitted to an expression containing $\ensuremath{\Delta}{m}_{d}$ as a free parameter. Using both muons and electrons, we obtain $\ensuremath{\Delta}{m}_{d}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}0.463\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.008(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.016(\mathrm{syst}){\mathrm{ps}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$. This is the first determination of $\ensuremath{\Delta}{m}_{d}$ from time evolution measurements at the $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(4S)$. We also place limits on possible $\mathrm{CPT}$ violations.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the standard model $\mathrm{CP}$ violation parameter $\mathrm{sin}2{\ensuremath{\varphi}}_{1}$ (also known as $\mathrm{sin}2\ensuremath{\beta}$) based on a $10.5{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ data sample collected at the $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider. One neutral $B$ meson is reconstructed in the $J/\ensuremath{\psi}{K}_{S}$, $\ensuremath{\psi}(2S){K}_{S}$, ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{c1}{K}_{S}$, ${\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}{K}_{S}$, $J/\ensuremath{\psi}{K}_{L}$, or $J/\ensuremath{\psi}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ $\mathrm{CP}$-eigenstate decay channel and the flavor of the accompanying $B$ meson is identified from its charged particle decay products. From the asymmetry in the distribution of the time interval between the two $B$-meson decay points, we determine $\mathrm{sin}2{\ensuremath{\varphi}}_{1}{\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}0.58}_{\ensuremath{-}0.34}^{+0.32}(\mathrm{stat}{)}_{\ensuremath{-}0.10}^{+0.09}(\mathrm{syst})$.

Abstract: In this paper, we describe the design and development of the central trigger system (GDL) for the BELLE detector at the KEK B-factory. The GDL consists of four types of single width 6U VME modules (ITD, FTD, PSNM and TMD) which are designed using the programmable logic techniques of Xilinx FPGA and CPLD. Individual and combined performance tests of these modules are done and it is confirmed that the GDL functions as expected.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the charge-parity (CP) violating parameters in B0→π+π- decays. The results are obtained from the final data sample containing 772×106 BB pairs collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. We obtain the CP violation parameters ACP(B0→π+π-)=+0.33±0.06(stat)±0.03(syst),SCP(B0→π+π-)=-0.64±0.08(stat)±0.03(syst),where ACP and SCP represent the direct and mixing-induced CP asymmetries in B0→π+π- decays, respectively. Using an isospin analysis including results from other Belle measurements, we find 23.8

Abstract: We report the results of a study of the exclusive semileptonic decays ${B}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}$, ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}$, ${B}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\rho}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}$, ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\rho}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}$ and ${B}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\omega}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}$, where $\ensuremath{\ell}$ represents an electron or a muon. The events are tagged by fully reconstructing a second $B$ meson in the event in a hadronic decay mode. The measured branching fractions are $\mathcal{B}({B}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}})=(0.80\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.08\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.04)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$, $\mathcal{B}({\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}})=(1.49\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.09\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.07)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$, $\mathcal{B}({B}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\rho}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}})=(1.83\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.10\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.10)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$, $\mathcal{B}({\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\rho}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}})=(3.22\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.27\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.24)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$, and $\mathcal{B}({B}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\omega}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}})=(1.07\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.16\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.07)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$, where the first error is statistical and the second one is systematic. The obtained branching fractions are inclusive of soft photon emission. We also determine the branching fractions as a function of the 4-momentum transfer squared to the leptonic system ${q}^{2}=({p}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}+{p}_{\ensuremath{\nu}}{)}^{2}$, where ${p}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}$ and ${p}_{\ensuremath{\nu}}$ are the lepton and neutrino 4-momenta, respectively. Using the pion modes, a recent light cone sum rule calculation, lattice QCD results and a model-independent description of the hadronic form factor, a value of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|{V}_{ub}|=(3.52\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.29)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$ is extracted. A structure in the two-pion invariant mass distribution near $1.3\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}/{c}^{2}$, which might be dominated by the decay ${B}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{f}_{2}(1270){\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}$, ${f}_{2}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, is seen. These results are obtained from a $711\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ data sample that contains $772\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ $B\overline{B}$ pairs, collected near the $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider.

Abstract: We report on a search for heavy neutrinos in B-meson decays. The results are obtained using a data sample that contains 772x10^6 BB-bar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. Abstract: We measure the branching fraction of B- → τ- ν(τ) using the full Υ(4S) data sample containing 772×10(6) BB pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ e- collider. Events with BB pairs are tagged by reconstructing one of the B mesons decaying into hadronic final states, and B- → τ- ν(τ) candidates are detected in the recoil. We find evidence for B- → τ- ν(τ) with a significance of 3.0 standard deviations including systematic errors and measure a branching fraction B(B- → τ- ν(τ))=[0.72(-0.25)(+0.27)(stat)±0.11(syst)]×10(-4).

Abstract: We present a precise measurement of the CP violation parameter sin2 phi(1) and the direct CP violation parameter A(f) using the final data sample of 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected at the gamma(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+) e(-) collider. One neutral B meson is reconstructed in a J/psi K-S(0), psi(2S)K-S(0), chi K-c1(S)0, or J/psi K-L(0) CP eigenstate an(its flavor is identified from the decay products of the accompanying B meson. From the distribution of proper-time intervals between the two B decays, we obtain the following CP violation parameters: sin2 phi(1) 0.667 +/- 0.023(stat) +/- 0.012(syst) and A(f) = 0.006 +/- 0.016(stat) +/- 0.012(syst).

Abstract: We report the observation of two narrow structures in the mass spectra of the pi(+/-) Y(nS) (n = 1, 2, 3) and pi(+/-) h(b)(mP) (m = 1, 2) pairs that are produced in association with a single charged pion in Y(5S) decays. The measured masses and widths of the two structures averaged over the five final states are M-1 = (10 607.2 +/- 2.0) MeV/c(2), Gamma(1) =(18.4 +/- 2.4) MeV, and M-2 = (10 652.2 +/- 1.5) MeV/c(2), Gamma(2) = (11.5 +/- 2.2) MeV. The results are obtained with a 121.4 fb(-1) data sample collected with the Belle detector in the vicinity of the Y(5S) resonance at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider.

Abstract: We present a precise measurement of the CP violation parameter sin2φ1 and the direct CP violation parameter A(f) using the final data sample of 772×10(6) BB[over ¯] pairs collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. One neutral B meson is reconstructed in a J/ψK(S)(0), ψ(2S)K(S)(0), χ(c1)K(S)(0), or J/ψK(L)(0) CP eigenstate and its flavor is identified from the decay products of the accompanying B meson. From the distribution of proper-time intervals between the two B decays, we obtain the following CP violation parameters: sin2φ1=0.667±0.023(stat)±0.012(syst) and A(f)=0.006±0.016(stat)±0.012(syst).

Abstract: We perform the first search for lepton-number-violating B{sup +}{yields}D{sup -}l{sup +}l{sup '+} decays, where l and l{sup '} stand for e or {mu}, using 772x10{sup 6} BB pairs accumulated at the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e{sup +}e{sup -} collider. No evidence for these decays has been found. Assuming uniform three-body phase space distributions for the D{sup -}l{sup +}l{sup '+} decays, we set the following upper limits on the branching fractions at 90% confidence level: B(B{sup +}{yields}D{sup -}e{sup +}e{sup +})

Abstract: We report the first observation of the radiative decay B-0 -> phi K-0 gamma using a data sample of 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected at the Gamma(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. We observe a signal of 37 +/- 8 events with a significance of 5.4 standard deviations including systematic uncertainties. The measured branching fraction is B(B-0 ->phi K-0 gamma) = (2.74 +/- 0.60 +/- 0.32) x 10(-6), where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. We also report the first measurements of time-dependent CP-violation parameters: S-phi K0s gamma = +0.74(-1.05)(+0.72)(stat)(-0.024)(+0.10)(syst) and A phi(0)(Ks)gamma = +0.35 +/- 0.58(stat)(-0.10)(+0.23)(syst). Furthermore, we measure B(B+ -> phi K+gamma) = (2.48 +/- 0.30 +/- 0.24) x 10(-6), A(CP) = -0.03 +/- 0.11 +/- 0.08, and find that the signal is concentrated in the M-phi K mass region near threshold.

Abstract: We report the observation of B-s(0) -> J/psi f(0(980)) and evidence for B-s(0) -> J/psi f(0)(1370), which are CP eignstate decay modes. These results are obtained from 121.4 fb(-1) of data collected at the Y(5S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) collider. We measure the branching fractions B(B-s(0) -> J/psi f(0)(980); f(0)(980) -> pi(+)pi(-)) = (1.16(-0.19)(+0.31)(stat)(-0.17)(+0.15)(syst)(-0.18)(+0.26)(N-Bs(*)(B) over bars(*))) X 10(-4) with a significance of 8.4 sigma, and B(B-s(0) -> j/psi f(0)(1370); f(0)(1370) -> pi(+)pi(-)) = (0.34(-0.14)(+0.11)(stat)(-0.02)(+0.03)(syst)(-0.05)(+0.08) (N-Bs(*)(B) over bars(*))) X 10(-4) with a significance of 4.2 sigma. The last error listed is due to uncertainty in the number of produced B-s((*)) (B) over bar ((*))(s) pairs.

Abstract: We measure the production cross sections for ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1S){\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(2S){\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, and $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(3S){\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ as a function of $\sqrt{s}$ between 10.83 GeV and 11.02 GeV. The data consist of $8.1\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider. We observe enhanced production in all three final states that does not agree well with the conventional $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(10860)$ line shape. A fit using a Breit-Wigner resonance shape yields a peak mass of $[10\text{ }{888.4}_{\ensuremath{-}2.6}^{+2.7}(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.2(\mathrm{syst})]\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{MeV}/{c}^{2}$ and a width of $[{30.7}_{\ensuremath{-}7.0}^{+8.3}(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}3.1(\mathrm{syst})]\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{MeV}/{c}^{2}$.

Abstract: We report a measurement of CP violating asymmetries in B-0 ((B-0) over bar) -> (K+K-KS0) decays with a time-dependent Dalitz approach. This analysis is based on a data sample of 657 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs accumulated at the Y(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+) e(-) collider. As the result of an unbinned maximum likelihood fit to the selected candidates, the mixing-induced and direct CP violation parameters phi(eff)(1) and A(CP) are obtained for B-0 -> phi(1020)K-S(0), B-0 -> f(0)(980)K-S(0), and other B-0 -> (K+K-KS0) decays. We find four solutions that describe the data. There are phi(eff)(1) (B-0 -> phi(1020)K-S(0)) = (32.2 +/- 9.0 +/- 2.6 +/- 1.4); phi(eff)(1)(B-0 -> phi(1020)K-S(0)) = 26.2 +/- 8.8 +/- 2.7 +/- 1.2); phi(eff)(1)(B-0 phi(1020)K-S(0)) = (27.3 +/- 8.6 +/- 2.8 +/- 1.3); and phi(eff)(1)(B-0 -> phi(1020)K-S(0)) = (24.3 +/- 8.0 +/- 2.9 +/- 5.2). The values for the CP violating phase in B-0 -> phi(1020)K-S(0) are similar, but other properties of the Dalitz plot are quite different for the four solutions. These four solutions have consistent phi(eff)(1) values for all three B-meson decay channels and none of them deviates significantly from the values measured in B -> (c (c) over bar )K-0 decays with the currently available statistics. In addition, we find no significant direct CP violation.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the decay B- -> tau(-)(nu) over bar (tau) using a data sample containing 657 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected at the gamma(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. A sample of B+B- pairs are tagged by reconstructing one B+ meson decaying semileptonically. We detect the B- -> tau(-)(nu) over bar (tau) candidate in the recoil. We obtain a signal with a significance of 3.6 standard deviations including systematic uncertainties, and measure the branching fraction to be B- -> tau(-)(nu) over bar (tau) [1.54(-0.37)(+0.38) (stat) (+0.29)(-0.31) (syst) x 10(-4). This result confirms the evidence for B- -> tau(-)(nu) over bar (tau) obtained in a previous Belle measurement that used a hadronic B tagging method.

Abstract: We present a study of tau(-)->pi(-)pi(+)pi(-)nu(tau), tau(-) -> K-pi(+)pi(-)nu(tau), tau(-) -> K-K+ pi(-)nu(tau), and tau(-) -> K-K+K-nu(tau) decays using a 666 fb(-1) data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric- energy e(+)e(-) collider at and near a center- of- mass energy of 10.58 GeV. The branching fractions are measured to be B(tau(-)->pi(-)pi(+)pi(-)nu(tau)) = (8.42 +/- 0.00(-0.25)(+0.26)) x 10(-2), B(tau(-)-> K-pi(+)pi(-)nu(tau)) = 3.30 +/- 0.01(-0.17)(+0.16)) x 10(-3), B(tau(-)-> K-K+pi(-)nu(tau)) = (1.55 +/- 0.01(-0.05)(+0.06)) x 10(-3), and B(tau(-)-> K-K+K-nu(tau)), = (3.29 +/- 0.17(-0.20)(+0.19)) x 10(-5), where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. These branching fractions do not include contributions from modes in which a pi(+)pi(-) pair originates from a K-S(0) decay. We also present the unfolded invariant mass distributions for these decays.
