Abstract

Near-surface PM2.5 estimates remain a global scientific research challenge due to their effect on human fitness and atmospheric environmental quality. However, practical near-surface PM2.5 estimates are impeded by the incomplete monitoring data. In this study, we propose the trigonometric polynomial fitting (TPF) method to estimate near-surface PM2.5 concentrations in south-central China during 2015. We employ 10-fold cross-validation (CV) to assess the reliability of TPF in estimating practical PM2.5 values. When compared to alternative methods such as the orthogonal polynomial fitting (OBF) method based on Chebyshev basis functions, Kriging interpolation, and radial basis function (RBF) interpolation, our results show that utilizing TPF31, with a maximum order of 3 in the x direction and a maximum order of 1 in the y direction, leads to superior efficiency through error minimization. TPF31 reduces MAE and RMSE by 1.93%, 24%, 6.96% and 3.6%, 23.07%, 10.43%, respectively, compared to the other three methods. In addition, the TPF31 method effectively reconstructs the spatial distribution of PM2.5 concentrations in the unevenly distributed observation stations of Inner Mongolia and the marginal regions of the study area. The reconstructed spatial distribution is remarkably smooth. Despite the non-uniform distribution of observation stations and the presence of missing data, the TPF31 method demonstrates exceptional effectiveness in accurately capturing the inherent physical attributes of spatial distribution. The theoretical and experimental results emphasize that the TPF method holds significant potential for accurately reconstructing the spatial distribution of PM2.5 in China. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Background: Scalp stimulation has gained more traction for post‐stroke cognitive impairment and dementia (PSCID); the interaction between stimulation targets and parameters influences the response to the stimulation. However, the most efficacious treatment for improving different domains of cognitive impairment remains unknown. Objective: We aimed to conduct a systematic review and network meta‐analysis (NMA) to compare the efficacy of various scalp stimulation protocols used in PSCID treatment. Methods: Randomized controlled trials of scalp stimulation in patients with PSCID were searched in eight databases over the past 20 years. Standardized mean differences (SMDs) for global and subdomain cognitive scores were pooled in Bayesian NMA. Moderators were examined using meta‐regression analysis. Results: A total of 90 trials, with 6199 patients, were included. Low‐frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) over the unaffected dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) was highly suggested for alleviating global severity (SMD = 1.11, 95% CI (0.64, 1.57)). High‐frequency rTMS over the left DLPFC was recommended for language use (1.85 (1.18, 2.52)), executive function (0.85 (0.36, 1.33)), orientation deficits (0.59 (0.07, 1.13)), and attention (0.85 (0.27, 1.43)). Anodal transcranial direct current stimulation over the affected DLPFC (2.03 (0.72, 3.34)) was recommended for treating memory impairment. Meta‐regression analyses showed significant associations within attention, language and orientation. Conclusion: Overall, different cognitive domains have different optimal scalp stimulation prescriptions, and activating the affected key brain regions and inhibiting the unaffected area is still the most effective treatment. Abstract

Despite the mounting attention being paid to vegetation growth and their driving forces for water-limited ecosystems, the relative contributions of atmospheric and soil moisture dryness stress on vegetation growth are an ongoing debate. Here we comprehensively compare the impacts of high vapor pressure deficit (VPD) and low soil water content (SWC) on vegetation growth in Eurasian drylands during 1982–2014. The analysis indicates a gradual decoupling between atmospheric dryness and soil dryness over this period, as the former has expanded faster than the latter. Moreover, the VPD–SWC relation and VPD–greenness relation are both non-linear, while the SWC–greenness relation is near-linear. The loosened coupling between VPD and SWC, the non-linear correlations among VPD–SWC-greenness and the expanded area extent in which SWC acts as the dominant stress factor all provide compelling evidence that SWC is a more influential stressor than VPD on vegetation growth in Eurasian drylands. In addition, a set of 11 Earth system models projected a continuously growing constraint of SWC stress on vegetation growth towards 2100. Our results are vital to dryland ecosystems management and drought mitigation in Eurasia.

76. Modelling and optimization of planar transformers for high power density step-down DC–DC converters

Abstract

The optimization of planar transformers with integrated magnetic components is an important research focus when it comes to high efficiency and high power density step-down DC–DC converters. In this paper, to overcome the shortcomings of LLC topologies in variable frequency operation, a DC–DC converter of two-stage regulation with GaN (gallium nitride)–MOSFET is designed to achieve wide voltage range conversion. The planar transformer of the full-bridge LLC circuit is optimized at 12 V DC bus and high-power scenarios. An equivalent resonant inductance model based on the stray inductance and JMAG leakage inductance simulation is proposed, which results in only one magnetic component being used in the LLC. A method to control the resonant inductance and improve the efficiency by changing the PCB trace on the secondary side of the high-step-down-ratio (14:1:1) planar transformer is proposed. To verify the optimization model, two sets of converters with optimized planar transformers, using PQ-type ferrite magnetic cores, have been built. Experimental results show that the voltage conversion range is from 250–500 to 9–16 V, and the converter efficiency is increased to 94.39%@3 kW.

Abstract

Based on the method for identifying the boundary of movable water bodies (MWBB), the spatial distribution of reclamation projects in the Guangxi Beibu Gulf were identified over the past 40 years and the impact of these engineering facilities on hydrodynamics was also evaluated. The results showed that 163.8 km2 of natural sea areas in the Guangxi Beibu Gulf were occupied through reclamation in the last 40 years. The effects of land reclamation on tidal amplitude were more pronounced in the second period (2001–2018) than in the first period (1987–2001), particularly in the tidal channels of Qinzhou Bay and Fangcheng Bay, where the amplitude difference ranged from 8 to 15 cm, representing a 40–55% increase. The reduction in the sea area because of land reclamation has changed the hydrodynamics in the Guangxi Beibu Gulf, including reducing the tidal volume, altering the amplitude variations, and increasing the seaward residual currents, all of which could cause significant problems for the coastal environment. Abstract

In order to solve the problem of crop disease detection in large-scale planting, a new crop disease detection algorithm based on multi-feature decision fusion is proposed. This paper proposes a multi-feature decision fusion disease discrimination algorithm (PD R-CNN) based on machine vision on crop surfaces. The algorithm is based on the machine vision processing model of R-CNN and integrates a disease discrimination algorithm on the basis of R-CNN. After training on crop image data sets, PD R-CNN can reach the goal of identifying crop surface lesions. This paper uses machine vision image acquisition, image processing and analysis technology to collect and analyze the growth of cucumber seedlings. The research results show that compared with manual judgment, PD R-CNN reduces the workload and can effectively distinguish crop diseases. Through experiments, during the occurrence of pests and diseases, PD R-CNN has a monitoring accuracy of 88.0% for mosaic disease, 92.0% for root rot, 88.0% for powdery mildew, and 86.0% for aphids, indicating that there are errors in actual monitoring, but the accuracy exceeds 85.0% can be put into use.

Abstract

Kinect 3D sensing real-time acquisition algorithm that can meet the requirements of fast, accurate, and real-time acquisition of image information of crop growth laws has become the trend and necessary means of digital agricultural production management. Based on this, this paper uses Kinect real-time image generation technology to try to monitor and study the depth map of crop growth law in real time, use Kinect to obtain the algorithm of crop growth depth map, and conduct investigation and research. Real-time image acquisition research on crop growth trends provides a basis for in-depth understanding of the application of Kinect real-time image generation technology in research. Kinect image real-time acquisition algorithm is a very important information carrier in agricultural information engineering. The research results show that the real-time Kinect depth image acquisition algorithm can obtain good 3D image data information and can provide valuable data basis for the 3D reconstruction of the later crop growth model, growth status analysis, and real-time monitoring of crop diseases. The data shows that, using Kinect, the real-time feedback speed of crop growth observation can be increased by 45%, the imaging accuracy is improved by 37%, and the related operation steps are simplified by 30%. The survey results show that the crop yield can be increased by about 12%.
