For many gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), hardness-intensity correlation (HIC) can be described by a power-law function, $E_{\rm p}\propto F^{\kappa}$, where $E_{\rm p}$ is the peak energy of $\nu F_{\nu}$ spectrum, and $F$ is the instantaneous energy flux. In this paper, HIC of the non-dissipative photospheric emission from a structured jet is studied in different regimes. An intermediate photosphere, which contains both of unsaturated and saturated emissions is introduced, and we find positive $\kappa<1/4$ in this case. The same conclusion could be generalized to the photospheric emission from a hybrid jet without magnetic dissipations, or that with sub-photospheric magnetic dissipations and fully thermalized. This may imply that the contribution peaking at $\sim1/2$ in the distribution of observed $\kappa$ are mainly from the prompt emission of GRBs with synchrotron origin. Besides, emissions of the intermediate photosphere could give a smaller low-energy photon index $\alpha$ than that in the unsaturated regime, and naturally reproduce anti-correlation in $\alpha-E_{\rm p}$ in a GRB pulse., Comment: 8 pages, 10 figures, published in MNRAS

The Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (Insight-HXMT), is China's first X-ray astronomy satellite launched on June 15, 2017. The anti-coincidence CsI detectors of the High Energy X-ray telescope (HE) onboard Insight-HXMT could serve as an all-sky gamma-ray monitor in about 0.2-3 MeV. In its first four years of operation, Insight-HXMT has detected 322 Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs) by offline search pipeline including blind search and targeted search. For the GOLDEN sample of Insight-HXMT GRBs, joint analyses were performed with other GRB missions, including Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (Fermi/GBM), Swift Burst Alert Telescope (Swift/BAT) and Gravitational wave high-energy Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM). It shows that Insight-HXMT can provide better constraint on GRB spectrum at higher energy band. The properties of Insight-HXMT GRBs are reported in detail, including their trigger time, duration, spectral parameters, peak fluxes of different time scales and fluence. We present a novel masked image modeling (MIM) approach, context autoencoder (CAE), for self-supervised representation pretraining. We pretrain an encoder by making predictions in the encoded representation space. The pretraining tasks include two tasks: masked representation prediction - predict the representations for the masked patches, and masked patch reconstruction - reconstruct the masked patches. The network is an encoder-regressor-decoder architecture: the encoder takes the visible patches as input; the regressor predicts the representations of the masked patches, which are expected to be aligned with the representations computed from the encoder, using the representations of visible patches and the positions of visible and masked patches; the decoder reconstructs the masked patches from the predicted encoded representations. The CAE design encourages the separation of learning the encoder (representation) from completing the pertaining tasks: masked representation prediction and masked patch reconstruction tasks, and making predictions in the encoded representation space empirically shows the benefit to representation learning. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our CAE through superior transfer performance in downstream tasks: semantic segmentation, object detection and instance segmentation, and classification. Natural ceramic composites present complex microstructures that lead to tortuous crack paths and confer them high toughness. Current microreinforced composites do not yet reach the same level of complexity in their microstructures, resulting in poorer properties. To achieve complex microstructuration, magnetically-assisted slip casting (MASC) was conducted using a setup with 4 degrees of freedom. Among all possible microstructures, a hybrid design between nacre-like and helicoidal arrangements was selected due to its ability to tilt and twist the crack path. The hybrid microstructured specimen fabricated, consisting of aluminum oxide micro platelets in a silicone matrix, were tested under compression and their mechanical performance compared. Although nacre-like composites exhibited the highest strength and toughness, helicoidal hybrids could show some ductility and higher stiffness. The fabrication strategy proposed here could thus be a simple route to study more complex microstructures in view of increasing the toughness of microplatelet reinforced composites.

Realtime trigger and localization of bursts are the key functions of GECAM, which is an all-sky gamma-ray monitor launched in Dec 10, 2020. We developed a multifunctional trigger and localization software operating on the CPU of the GECAM electronic box (EBOX). This onboard software has the following features: high trigger efficiency for real celestial bursts with a suppression of false triggers caused by charged particle bursts and background fluctuation, dedicated localization algorithm optimized for short and long bursts respetively, short time latency of the trigger information which is downlinked throught the BeiDou satellite navigation System (BDS). This paper presents the detailed design and deveopment of this trigger and localization software system of GECAM, including the main functions, general design, workflow and algorithms, as well as the verification and demonstration of this software, including the on-ground trigger tests with simulated gamma-ray bursts made by a dedicated X-ray tube and the in-flight performance to real gamma-ray bursts and magnetar bursts., Comment: Draft, comments welcome

The Chinese CubeSat Mission, Gamma Ray Integrated Detectors (GRID), recently detected its first gamma-ray burst, GRB 210121A, which was jointly observed by the Gravitational wave high-energy Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM). This burst is confirmed by several other missions, including \fermi and \textit{Insight}-HXMT. We combined multi-mission observational data and performed a comprehensive analysis of the burst's temporal and spectral properties. Our results show that the burst is relatively special in its high peak energy, thermal-like low energy indices, and large fluence. By putting it to the $E_{\rm p}$-$E_{\rm\gamma, iso}$ relation diagram with assumed distance, we found this burst can be constrained at the redshift range of [0.3,3.0]. The thermal spectral component is also confirmed by the direct fit of the physical models to the observed spectra. Interestingly, the physical photosphere model also constrained a redshift of $z\sim$ 0.3 for this burst, which help us to identify a host galaxy candidate at such a distance within the location error box. Assuming the host galaxy is real, we found the burst can be best explained by the photosphere emission of a typical fireball with an initial radius of $r_0\sim$ 3.2 $\times 10^7$ cm., Comment: ApJ accpeted; 12 pages, 11 figures, 3 tables
