The capability of degrading rice straw of lignocellulolytic composite microbial system MC1 was investigated under different methods of preservation and temperatures treatments of 80 degrees C to 95 degrees C, and stability of composite microbial system MC1 was studied through the method of Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis (DGGE). The results indicate that the rice straw of 2% dry weight of medium can be degraded completely at 50 degrees C within 10 days under static culture. After 9 days inoculating MC1, the dry weight of rice straw, cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin content was degraded by 81% , 99%, 74% and 51%, respectively. Capability of cellulose degrading and stability of composite microbial system MC1 is sustained under 4 years of continuing subculture, 4 years of dry preservation at room temperature, 4 years of preservation at - 20 degrees C, 1 year of liquid preservation at room temperature and at 4 degrees C, and treatment of 90 degrees C for 30 min, respectively. Plate culture results show that composite microbial system MC1 are consisted of bacteria. The main DNA bands are not changed by the method of 16S rDNA PCR-DGGE after culture of six months so that microbial composition of MC1 is very stable.

Background Studies suggest that schizophrenic patients have an increased prevalence of serum antibodies to neuroblastoma cell proteins migrating at 60 kilodaltons (kDa). We present work identifying and characterizing 60 kDa antigen–antibody interactions. Methods Sera from schizophrenic subjects and normal volunteers were screened by Western blotting. Proteins migrating at 60 kDa were characterized by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and indirect immunofluorescent staining of human epithelial cell (HEp-2) slides. Human brain and bladder cell complementary deoxyribonucleic acid libraries were screened with immunoaffinity-purified antibodies. Complementary deoxyribonucleic acid clones were sequenced and compared with published databases. Proteins were generated by in vitro transcription/translation and expression in an Escherichia coli BL21 system. Immunoprecipitation and immunohistochemistry studies were performed. Results Fifteen percent (17/117) of schizophrenic subjects and 3% (2/62) of normal volunteers had autoantibodies that reacted with 60 kDa proteins [χ 2 (1) = 4.4, p = .037]. Five percent of subjects had autoantibodies directed against 60 kDa heat shock protein (HSP60) [χ 2 (1) = 3.3, p = .100). Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis identified 13 different proteins migrating at 60 kDa; 5 were splice variants of HSP60, and 2 corresponded with a protein associated with MYC (PAM). Conclusions There is an increased prevalence of autoantibodies that bind to proteins migrating at 60 kDa in subjects with schizophrenia. Potential target antigens include HSP60 and PAM.

Full platelet activation with serotonin secretion and thromboxane A2 (TxA2) formation induced by a low dose of thrombin receptor agonist peptide (TRAP) or high dose ADP requires platelet aggregation. This requirement can be replaced by pretreatment of platelets with a combination of reagents including: GPIIb/IIIa inhibitors yielding ligand-induced binding sites (LIBS), either arginine–glycine–aspartate–serine (RGDS) peptide or Ro 43-5054, cytochalasin to disrupt actin filaments and crosslinking by a GPIIb/IIIa mAb (pl-62). Crosslinking is required since Fab fragments of pl-62 do not support activation. Engagement of the Fc receptor by the mAb Fc domain is not required for pl-62 augmentation, since it is not blocked by the anti-Fc receptor mAb, IV-3. Another GPIIb/IIIa inhibitor, Ro 44-9883, not yielding LIBS epitopes, serves as a negative control and shows a requirement for LIBS in addition to crosslinking. Focal adhesion kinase tyrosine phosphorylation induced by TRAP is blocked by these GPIIb/IIIa antagonists, but restored by pl-62 crosslinking independent of LIBS induction. Tyrosine phosphorylation of a peptide comigrating with p38 MAP kinase is also inhibited by these antagonists and restored by pl-62 crosslinking. However, p38 MAP kinase activation by low dose TRAP is not affected by these aggregation inhibitors. Tyrosine phosphorylation of a 34-kDa phosphoprotein in the absence of aggregation or TxA2 formation was uniquely augmented by Ro 43-5054 but not Ro 44-9883 under the above activation conditions.

Since the interaction between the magnetic field and fluid field is complicated, the signal models of electromagnetic flowmeter under sinewave excitation cannot describe accurately the relationship among the sensor output, flow rate, and exciting signal now. The multiple regression method is adopted to build the signal models of electromagnetic flowmeter based on the experimental data in this article. The signal models not only express the action of flow rate but also reflect the effects of transformer and eddy current.
