Abstract

Micro-nanobubbles can spontaneously generate hydroxyl free radicals (OH). Urea is a cheap reductant and can react with NOx species, and their products are nontoxic and harmless N2, CO2 and H2O. In this study, a Wet Direct Recycling Micro-nanobubble Flue Gas Multi-pollutants Removal System (WDRMRS) was developed for the simultaneous removal of NO, SO2 and Hg0. In this system, a micro-nanobubble generator (MNBG) was used to produce a micro-nanobubble gas–liquid dispersion system (MNBGLS) through recycling the urea solution from the reactor and the simulated flue gas composed of N2, NO, SO2 and Hg0. The MNBGLS, which has a large gas–liquid dispersion interface, was recycled continuously from the MNBG to the reactor, thus achieving cyclic absorption of various pollutants. All of the investigated parameters, including the initial pH and temperature of the absorbent as well as the concentrations of urea, NO and SO2 had significant effects on the NO removal efficiency but did not significantly affect the SO2 removal efficiency, whereas only the initial solution pH and NO concentration affected the Hg0 removal efficiency. The analysis results of the reaction mechanism showed that ·OH played a critical role in the removal of various pollutants. After the treatment by this system, the main removal products were Hg0 sediment, SO 4 2 − and NH4+ which could be easily recycled. The use of this system (MNBGLS) for the simultaneous removal of NO, SO2 and Hg0 is a new technology application and research. Recycling process based on MNBGLS succeeded in simultaneously removing NO, SO2 and Hg0. The system (MNBGLS) can provide a reference for commercial applications. Abstract

Ion migration is a notorious phenomenon observed in ionic perovskite materials. It causes several severe issues in perovskite optoelectronic devices such as instability, current hysteresis, and phase segregation. Here, we report that, in contrast to lead halide perovskites (LHPs), no ion migration or phase segregation was observed in tin halide perovskites (THPs) under illumination or an electric field. The origin is attributed to a much stronger Sn‐halide bond and higher ion migration activation energy (Ea) in THPs, which remain nearly constant under illumination. We further figured out the threshold Ea for the absence of ion migration to be around 0.65 eV using the CsSnyPb1‐y(I0.6Br0.4)3 system whose Ea varies with Sn ratios. Our work shows that ion migration does not necessarily exist in all perovskites and suggests metallic doping to be a promising way of stopping ion migration and improving the intrinsic stability of perovskites. Abstract

We report two-photon excited ultrafast carrier trapping and recombination in n-type β-Ga2O3 crystals by using femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy. The broadband absorption spectra arising from the defect are polarization dependent, especially, two absorption peaks can be observed by subtracting the absorption transients under two probe polarizations. We attribute these observed defect-related absorption features to optical transitions from the valence band to different charge states of a native defect (such as gallium vacancies). A model for carrier capture by multilevel of a single defect is proposed to interpret the data, wherein holes are captured more efficiently than electrons by the defects, and the absorption cross sections for the defects are at least ten times larger than that for free carriers. Our results reveal the potential applications of β-Ga2O3 in ultrafast and broadband optoelectronic devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Solution-processed light-emitting diodes (LEDs) based on copper–iodide clusters are promising candidates for solid state lightings due to their abundance, environmental friendliness and high luminescent efficiency. However, the development of this class of LEDs is hampered by the instability of the clusters, poor solution compatibility and low film quality, resulting in poor device performances. Here we report a new type of copper–iodide cluster hybrids with functional groups that facilitate both solubility and stability of the clusters. The hybrid clusters exhibit high structural stability in solvents, enabling smooth solution-processed thin films with low surface roughness of 0.22 nm and high photoluminescence quantum yields of over 70%. We employ the high-quality thin film as an emissive layer in warm-white LEDs, showing a maximum external quantum efficiency of 19.1%, maximum high brightness of over 40,000 cd m−2and a good operational lifetime of 232 h (T50at an initial luminance of 100 cd m−2). We also demonstrate a large-area LED with brightnesses of up to ~60,000 cd m−2through blade-coating and a series of colour-tunable LEDs based on ligand modifications. Our results suggest great potential of copper–iodide cluster-based LEDs for practical applications in panel display and solid-state lighting.

Abstract

Wide-bandgap pure bromide-based hybrid perovskite solar cells (PSCs), with the advantages of high open-circuit voltage, and superior environmental stability, have potential applications in tandem solar cells and building-integrated photovoltaics. However, the open-circuit voltage (Voc) and the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of bromide-based PSCs are relatively low. In this work, a bathocuproine (BCP) interlayer, instead of conventional PCBM, was employed between the FAPbBr3 absorber and electron transport layer (ETL). The resulting energy level difference of FAPbBr3/BCP was much lower compared with that of FAPbBr3/PCBM, which was expected to facilitate the charge transport. More importantly, it was demonstrated that the BCP interlayer had strong passivation on the FAPbBr3 surface through coordination of N and Pb as well as N-H hydrogen bonding. Accordingly, the inverted planar FAPbBr3 PSC possessed a high PCE of 8.02% and Voc of 1.430 V. In addition, the PSCs with a BCP buffer layer exhibited better air stability compared with that with PCBM films. This work provides new insight into the BCP interlayer, which has dual functions as surface passivation and energy level alignment with FAPbBr3 films, paving the way toward realizing high-performance FAPbBr3 perovskite solar cells. 98. CD4+ T Cell Responses to Pathogens in Cattle

Abstract

Helper CD4+ T cells are essential in shaping effective antibody response and cytotoxic T cell response against pathogen invasion. There are two subtypes of pathogen-specific helper T cells in mice and humans; type 1 (Th1) and type 2 (Th2), with Th1 producing interferon-gamma (IFNγ) and Th2 producing interleukin-4 (IL-4). While effective Th1 controls intracellular pathogens like viruses, efficient Th2 controls extracellular pathogens like most parasites. However, the most predominant CD4+ T cell subtype in cattle is Th0, which produces both IFNγ and IL-4, and only exists in small amounts in mice and humans. Moreover, in many bovine infections, both IFNγ and IL-4 were detected in the blood and both antigen-specific IgG2 (Th1 associated bovine antibody) and antigen-specific IgG1 (Th2 associated bovine antibody) were upregulated in the serum, suggesting bovine CD4+ T cell responses may vary from those in mice and humans. How bovine CD4+ T cell differentiation differs from that in mice and humans and how some critical bovine pathogens regulate immunity to establish chronic infections are largely unknown. This chapter summarizes current literature and identifies the knowledge gaps to provide insights into future research in the field.
