There is an urgent need for a thorough assessment of forest landscape fragmentation to inform forest protection and restoration, and reforestation policies. However, there is currently a lack of an effective comprehensive index for forest landscape fragmentation, and detailed knowledge of the forest landscape fragmentation dynamics remains insufficient. Here, taking Putian City of Fujian Province in Southeastern China as a case, we employed a forest fragmentation comprehensive index (FFCI) to capture key features of forest landscape fragmentation, such as patch size, number, and distribution. Then, bivariate spatial autocorrelation analysis was employed to identify the spatial associations between the static forest landscape fragmentation (FFCI) and the dynamic forest landscape fragmentation (ΔFFCI), and the spatial coupling modes among the three individual components of FFCI (mean patch area, MPA; aggregation index, AI; patch density, PD) were identified to explore the detail process of forest landscape fragmentation. Finally, the random forest model was applied to observe the impact factors of forest landscape fragmentation dynamics. The findings showed that forest landscapes with different degrees of fragmentation exhibited more noticeable changes at both ends (i.e., either high or lower-level fragmentation), with the intermediate level remaining consistent from 2000 to 2020. Around 18.3% of forest landscapes experienced a decrease in fragmentation, particularly in the northern part of the study area, while approximately 81.7% of forest landscapes exhibited an increasing trend in fragmentation. The bivariate spatial autocorrelation analysis indicated that the proportion of Low–High-type grids was the highest at 17.3%, followed by the High–High type at 7.0%. We also identified eight forest landscape fragmentation modes, which indicate the most significant forest landscape fragmentation pattern is a decrease in MPA and an increase in PD. Moreover, the anthropogenic factors (e.g., population density and night light intensity) were found to dominate the FFCI dynamics during 2000–2020. This study offers an efficient research paradigm for the dynamics of forest landscape fragmentation. The outcomes are conducive to an in-depth comprehension of the detailed dynamic information of forest landscape fragmentation, and supply a scientific foundation for enhancing the overall ecological service function of the forest.

Objectives To explore the impact of the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index on the severity of coronary stenosis and the risk of in-hospital mortality in patients with acute ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).Design A multicentre retrospective cohort study.Setting Patients with STEMI undergoing PCI from three centres in China from 2015 to 2019.Participants A total of 1491 individuals presenting with STEMI were enrolled.Primary outcome measure The degree of coronary stenosis was quantified by the Gensini score (GS). Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), also known as hemophagocytic syndrome (HPS), is a benign histiocytosis with hyperreactive proliferation of the mononuclear phagocyte system caused by immune function abnormalities, which often occurs under the background of genetic mutations, inflammation, infection or tumors. Because the research on malignancy-associated HLH (M-HLH) is focused on hematological malignancies, reports on HLH secondary to solid tumors are rare. In this case, we report a 14-year-old girl who developed HLH during treatment for intracranial multifocal germinoma, and the disease was controlled after hormone combined with etoposide(VP-16) and other related treatments. To our knowledge, there have been no documented cases of HLH caused by intracranial multifocal germinoma.

This study aims to explore the factors affecting online learning satisfaction (OLS) among students and their interaction with parent-child relationship and trait coping style. A web-based questionnaire was employed, encompassing general information, the Trait Coping Style Questionnaire (TCSQ), and queries related to OLS. The deployment of energy storage systems can play a role in peak and frequency regulation, solve the issue of limited flexibility in cleaner power systems in China, and ensure the stability and safety of the power grid. This paper presents a comprehensive environmental impact analysis of a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery system for the storage and delivery of 1 kW-hour of electricity. Quantities of copper, graphite, aluminum, lithium iron phosphate, and electricity consumption are set as uncertainty and sensitivity parameters with a variation of [90%, 110%]. The results show that global warming potential is 9.08E+01 kg CO2 eq. and fossil resource use is 1.21E+03 MJ, with uncertainty ranges of [8.54E+01, 9.23E+01] and [1.15E+03, 1.23E+03], respectively. Electricity consumption during the manufacture and installation process is the greatest contributor to climate change (CO2 eq. emissions), accounting for 39.71% and largely owing to non-renewable sources, followed by cathode materials at 27.85% and anode materials at 18.36%. The disposal and recycling process offers emission reductions but requires an additional 1.17% use of fossil resources. Sobol T indices for the quantity of electricity are the highest for acidification, climate change, fossil resource use, and ionizing radiation. By considering the pathway of China’s electricity mix from 2020 to 2050 under the Paris Agreement’s 2° target, the potential for environmental emission reduction in the system is evaluated. The results show that the greener electricity mix could lead to a 24.59% reduction in acidification impact, a 35.74% reduction in climate change impact, a 33.24% reduction in fossil resource use, and a 44.13% reduction in ionizing radiation impact. This study offers a comprehensive view of the environmental impact reductions associated with the lithium iron phosphate battery and its industry.

Resistance to chemotherapy is the main reason for treatment failure and poor prognosis in patients with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Although the association of RNA N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modifications with therapy resistance is noticed, its role in the development of therapeutic resistance in TNBC is not well documented. This study aimed to investigate the potential mechanisms underlying reactive oxygen species (ROS) regulation in doxorubicin (DOX)-resistant TNBC. Here, we found that DOX-resistant TNBC cells displayed low ROS levels because of increased expression of superoxide dismutase (SOD2), thus maintaining cancer stem cells (CSCs) characteristics and DOX resistance. FOXO1 is a master regulator that reduces cellular ROS in DOX-resistant TNBC cells, and knockdown of FOXO1 significantly increased ROS levels by inhibiting SOD2 expression. Moreover, the m6A demethylase ALKBH5 promoted m6A demethylation of FOXO1 mRNA and increased FOXO1 mRNA stability in DOX-resistant TNBC cells. The analysis of clinical samples revealed that the increased expression levels of ALKBH5, FOXO1, and SOD2 were significantly positively correlated with chemoresistance and poor prognosis in patients with TNBC. To our knowledge, this is the first study to highlight that ALKBH5-mediated FOXO1 mRNA demethylation contributes to CSCs characteristics and DOX resistance in TNBC cells. Furthermore, pharmacological targeting of FOXO1 profoundly restored the response of DOX-resistant TNBC cells, both in vitro and in vivo. In conclusion, we demonstrated a critical function of ALKBH5-mediated m6A demethylation of FOXO1 mRNA in restoring redox balance, which in turn promoting CSCs characteristics and DOX resistance in TNBC, and suggested that targeting the ALKBH5/FOXO1 axis has therapeutic potential for patients with TNBC refractory to chemotherapy.

PurposeThis study comprises an investigation of the role of meteorin-like (Metrnl) in an experimental model of diabetic kidney disease (DKD).MethodsTwenty-four db/db mice were randomly assigned to one of the following groups: DKD, DKD + Metrnl-/-, and DKD + Metrnl+/+. Plasma Metrnl concentrations were measured using ELISA. Kidney tissues were examined via western blotting, qRT-PCR, and immunohistochemistry to determine the expression levels of inflammatory factors. Electron microscopy was employed to observe stained kidney sections.ResultsCompared with the NC group, FBG, BW, and UACR were elevated in the DKD and Metrnl-/- groups, with severe renal pathological injury, decreased serum Metrnl concentration, decreased renal Metrnl expression, and increased expression levels of TNF-α, TGF-β1, TGF-R1, pSmad2, pSmad3, and α-SMA. In contrast, the Metrnl+/+ group showed decreased FBG and UACR, BUN, TC and TG, increased HDL-C and serum Metrnl concentration, increased renal Metrnl expression, and decreased expression of TNF-α, TGF-β1, TGF-R1, pSmad2, pSmad3, and α-SMA, compared to the DKD and Metrnl-/- groups. A Pearson bivariate correlation analysis revealed a negative correlation between UACR and Metrnl, and a positive correlation between UACR and TGF-β1.ConclusionUpregulation of renal Metrnl expression can improve renal injury by downregulating the expression of molecules in the TGF-β1/Smads signaling pathway in the renal tissues of type 2 diabetic mice; and by reducing the production of fibrotic molecules such as α-SMA.

In this paper, we use the krill swarm optimization algorithm to optimize the optimization-seeking ability of the projection-seeking analysis model and construct the IKH-PP model. Evaluation indexes of ideological and political education strategies are built from seven dimensions, such as moral quality and political performance, and the index values are standardized using the extreme value normalization method. Abstract Understanding how urbanization affects compound hot extremes (CHEs) is important for the sustainable development in urban agglomeration under global warming. In this study, we investigate the changes of CHEs in summer over the Beijing‐Tianjin‐Hebei region (BTH), Yangtze River Delta (YRD) and Pearl River Delta (PRD) in China, and assess the effects of urbanization on these changes. We find that the frequency and intensity of CHEs in summer show significantly increasing trends in these agglomerations in the recent five decades, particularly in megacities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Tianjin. The urbanization contributions to CHEs in the YRD and PRD were estimated to 36 ∼ 58%, while relatively small in the BTH, ranging 16 ∼ 29%. They were bonded to the unban size, expansion speed and local climate. In addition to global warming and urbanization, the strengthening continental high and enhancing Western Pacific Subtropical High and its westward displacement were favor to the increased CHEs.

In the context of the new era, reforming “curriculum and political thinking” in the medical specialty of colleges and universities is a key path to realizing the fundamental task of cultivating moral integrity. The study adopts a blended teaching mode, combines online and offline resources, and focuses on analyzing the learning behavior of medical students. The correlation between learning behavior and performance was analyzed by DH-Kmeans cluster analysis algorithm and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. The experimental data came from the online learning behaviors of students in the 2022-2023 academic year of T Medical College, and a total of 2426 data were collected. The results showed that learning behaviors were highly correlated with grades, especially the number of tasks completed, course video progress, and the number of chapter studies. In addition, the comparative analysis of teaching experiments showed that students in the experimental class were better than the control class regarding ideological values, learning attitudes and grades. The conclusion shows that the blended teaching mode effectively improves medical students’ learning effect and the quality of ideological education.

Abstract Background The development of new-onset atrial fibrillation (NOAF) after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a clinical complication that requires a better understanding of the causative risk factors. This study aimed to explore the risk factors and the expression and function of miR-1 and miR-133a in new atrial fibrillation after AMI. Methods We collected clinical data from 172 patients with AMI treated with emergency percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) between October 2021 and October 2022. Independent predictors of NOAF were determined using binary logistic univariate and multivariate regression analyses. The predictive value of NOAF was assessed using the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve for related risk factors. In total, 172 venous blood samples were collected preoperatively and on the first day postoperatively; the expression levels of miR-1 and miR-133a were determined using the polymerase chain reaction. The clinical significance of miR-1 and miR-133a expression levels was determined by Spearman correlation analysis. Results The Glasgow prognostic score, left atrial diameter, and infarct area were significant independent risk factors for NOAF after AMI. We observed that the expression levels of miR-1 and miR-133a were significantly higher in the NOAF group than in the non-NOAF group. On postoperative day 1, strong associations were found between miR-133a expression levels and the neutrophil ratio and between miR-1 expression levels and an increased left atrial diameter. Conclusions Our findings indicate that the mechanism of NOAF after AMI may include an inflammatory response associated with an increased miR-1-related mechanism. Conversely, miR-133a could play a protective role in this clinical condition.

TiB2 nano-particle reinforced CoCrFeMnNi composite has been additively manufactured by using laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) technique. In comparison with the matrix CoCrFeMnNi sample, the average grain size of the TiB2 doped CoCrFeMnNi (CoCrFeMnNi + TiB2) sample reduces from 26.27 μm to 7.51 μm, appearing a morphological transformation from columnar grains to fine equiaxed grains and fine dendritic grains. Correspondingly, the compressive yield strength (σy) sharply increases from 484.41 ± 57.81 MPa of CoCrFeMnNi HEA to 952.62 ± 38.15 MPa of CoCrFeMnNi + TiB2, and the tensile yield strength increases from 480.27 ± 1.25 MPa to 834.21 ± 15.93 MPa, revealing a substantial enhancement of mechanical properties. The structural analysis unveils that the CoCrFeMnNi + TiB2 sample formed a tetragonal σ phase beside the FCC matrix and TiB2 phases compared with the single FCC phase of CoCrFeMnNi HEA. Especially, atomic resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy discloses that the TiB2 nanoparticles epitaxially grow onto the FCC matrix phase with [01–10]TiB2//[011]FCC orientation relationship. Theoretical calculations indicate that the enhancement mechanism of the CoCrFeMnNi + TiB2 sample should originate from a synergistic strengthening effect which is induced by grain refinement, TiB2 particles, σ phases and dislocations. Our work should provide a new view to utilize the rapid solidification process of LPBF and ceramic nano-particle reinforcement for the enhanced mechanical properties of HEAs with great potential.

Abstract Background Mixed results have been found regarding the relationship between media use degree and depressive symptoms. The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between media use degree, big five personality and depressive symptoms with a mediation model. Method This was a cross-sectional study. With 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), 10-item Big Five Inventory (BFI-10) and self-designed media usage scale, 11,031 participants aged 12 and above in 120 cities in China were collected. Pearson correlation analysis and regression analysis were performed on the data. The Process plug-in was used to construct the mediation model and explore the relationship among media use degree, big five personality and depressive symptoms. The nonparametric percentile Bootstrap method was used to test the mediating effect of personality traits. Abstract. Background:. Previous research demonstrated that a homozygous mutation of g.136372044G>A (S12N) in caspase recruitment domain family member 9 (CARD9) is critical for producing Aspergillus fumigatus-induced (Af-induced) T helper 2 (TH2)-mediated responses in allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA). However, it remains unclear whether the CARD9S12N mutation, especially the heterozygous occurrence, predisposes the host to ABPA. Methods:. A total of 61 ABPA patients and 264 controls (including 156 healthy controls and 108 asthma patients) were recruited for sequencing the CARD9 locus to clarify whether patients with this heterozygous single-nucleotide polymorphisms are predisposed to the development of ABPA. A series of in vivo and in vitro experiments, such as quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, flow cytometry, and RNA isolation and quantification, were used to illuminate the involved mechanism of the disease. Results:. The presence of the p.S12N mutation was associated with a significant risk of ABPA in ABPA patients when compared with healthy controls and asthma patients, regardless of Aspergillus sensitivity. Relative to healthy controls without relevant allergies, the mutation of p.S12N was associated with a significant risk of ABPA (OR: 2.69 and 4.17 for GA and AA genotypes, P = 0.003 and 0.029, respectively). Compared with patients with asthma, ABPA patients had a significantly higher heterozygous mutation (GA genotype), indicating that p.S12N might be a significant ABPA-susceptibility locus (aspergillus sensitized asthma: OR: 3.02, P = 0.009; aspergillus unsensitized asthma: OR: 2.94, P = 0.005). The mutant allele was preferentially expressed in ABPA patients with heterozygous CARD9S12N, which contributes to its functional alterations to facilitate Af-induced TH2-mediated ABPA development. In terms of mechanism, Card9 wild-type (Card9WT) expression levels decreased significantly due to Af-induced decay of its messenger RNA compared to the heterozygous Card9S12N. In addition, ABPA patients with heterozygous CARD9S12N had increased Af-induced interleukin-5 production. Conclusion:. Our study provides the genetic evidence showing that the heterozygous mutation of CARD9S12N, followed by allele expression imbalance of CARD9S12N, facilitates the development of ABPA.

Abstract Objective Cancer antigen-125 (CA-125), a tumor marker, has received increasing attention in recent years for its role in the cardiovascular field. However, no study has reported the association of CA-125 with early postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF) after heart valve surgery. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess whether there is a correlation between CA-125 and early postoperative POAF after heart valve surgery. Methods Patients who underwent valve surgery at Fujian Heart Medical Center from January 2020 to August 2022 were retrospectively analyzed and divided into postoperative atrial fibrillation group (POAF group) and postoperative non-atrial fibrillation group (NO-POAF), and the differences in clinical data between the two groups were compared, and the variables with statistical significance in the univariate analysis were included in the COX regression analysis, and finally the receivers’ operating characteristics (ROC) curves were drawn. Results From January 2020 to August 2022, a total of 1653 patients underwent valve surgery. A total of 344 patients were finally included, including 52 patients (15.1%) in the POAF group and 292 patients (84.9%) in the NO-POAF group. Univariate analysis showed higher CA-125 levels in patients in the POAF group than in those in the NO-POAF group [27.89 (13.64, 61.54), 14.48 (9.87, 24.08), P = 0.000]. Analysis of the incidence of POAF based on CA-125 quartiles showed an incidence of up to 29.2% in the highest quartile (> 27.88). Multivariate COX regression analysis showed that CA-125 [OR = 1.006, 95% CI (1.002, 1.010), P = 0.001] was an independent predictor of POAF. The final ROC curve plot showed that the area under the curve for CA-125 was 0.669, with an optimal cut-off value of 27.08 U/ml, and the difference in the area under the curve between the two groups was statistically significant (P = 0.000). Conclusion Elevated preoperative CA-125 levels can affect the incidence of POAF and have a predictive value for the occurrence of POAF in the early stage after valve surgery. However, due to the small sample size and single-center retrospective study, further validation of this result is needed.

Abstract We conducted a mesocosm experiment to examine how ocean acidification (OA) affects communities of prokaryotes and eukaryotes growing on single‐use drinking bottles in subtropical eutrophic waters of the East China Sea. Based on 16S rDNA gene sequencing, simulated high CO2 significantly altered the prokaryotic community, with the relative abundance of the phylum Planctomycetota increasing by 49%. Under high CO2, prokaryotes in the plastisphere had enhanced nitrogen dissimilation and ureolysis, raising the possibility that OA may modify nutrient cycling in subtropical eutrophic waters. The relative abundance of pathogenic and animal parasite bacteria also increased under simulated high CO2. Our results show that elevated CO2 levels significantly affected several animal taxa based on 18S rDNA gene sequencing. For example, Mayorella amoebae were highly resistant, whereas Labyrinthula were sensitive to OA. Thus, OA may alter plastisphere food chains in subtropical eutrophic waters.

Wire-arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) offers a brand-new method for short process and rapid manufacturing of large magnesium alloy components, which can avoid the formability dilemma faced by Mg alloys due to their poor plasticity. In this study, the relationships between the solidification texture and the anisotropy of mechanical properties/damping capacities of an AZ31 Mg-based alloy fabricated by the WAAM process were studied. The results revealed that the crystallographic texture with the (0001) basal plane along the building direction was promoted by the preferential growth of dendrite arms along the direction of the HCP crystal structure. The (0001) basal texture had a strong influence on the anisotropy of mechanical properties and damping capacities. Compared to the sample with a tensile axis perpendicular to the building direction, the sample with a tensile axis along the building direction displays a simultaneous increase in tensile strength and ductility, which is related to the smaller Schmid factor (SF) for basal slip and better plasticity deformation via non-basal slip and twinning. However, the smaller SF for basal slip also results in a smaller resolved shear stress factor for the breakaway stress during the damping response testing, resulting in lower damping capacities. This work is helpful for further optimizing the mechanical properties and damping capacities of WAAM-processed Mg-based alloys.

Abstract Objectives To evaluate the outcomes of bronchial artery embolization (BAE) for the treatment of massive hemoptysis in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and identify risk factors that influence recurrence. Methods A total of 81 patients with massive hemoptysis who underwent BAE between January 2014 and December 2017 were retrospectively reviewed. All of the patients had either a history of pulmonary tuberculosis or a current diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis. Follow‐up ranged from 18 to 66 months. Results Hemoptysis was stopped or markedly decreased, with subsequent clinical improvement in 73 patients, while 11 patients experienced recurrence during the follow‐up period. Systemic‐pulmonary shunts and clinical failure showed a statistically significant correlation with the recurrence rate. The cumulative non‐recurrence rate was 95.3% for 3 months and 81.9% for more than 24 months. Complications were common (12.5%), but self‐limiting. Conclusions BAE is a safe and effective treatment option for the control of massive hemoptysis in pulmonary tuberculosis patients. Systemic‐pulmonary shunts and clinical failure are the risk factors for recurrence.

Skeletal muscle satellite cells, the resident stem cells in pig skeletal muscle, undergo proliferation and differentiation to enable muscle tissue repair. The proliferative and differentiative abilities of these cells gradually decrease during in vitro cultivation as the cell passage number increases. Despite extensive research, the precise molecular mechanisms that regulate this process are not fully understood. To bridge this knowledge gap, we conducted transcriptomic analysis of skeletal muscle satellite cells during in vitro cultivation to quantify passage number-dependent changes in the expression of genes associated with proliferation. Additionally, we explored the relationships between gene transcriptional activity and chromatin accessibility using transposase-accessible chromatin sequencing. This revealed the closure of numerous open chromatin regions, which were primarily located in intergenic regions, as the cell passage number increased. Integrated analysis of the transcriptomic and epigenomic data demonstrated a weak correlation between gene transcriptional activity and chromatin openness in expressed genic regions; although some genes (e.g., GNB4 and FGD5) showed consistent relationships between gene expression and chromatin openness, a substantial number of differentially expressed genes had no clear association with chromatin openness in expressed genic regions. The p53-p21-RB signaling pathway may play a critical regulatory role in cell proliferation processes. The combined transcriptomic and epigenomic approach taken here provided key insights into changes in gene expression and chromatin openness during in vitro cultivation of skeletal muscle satellite cells. These findings enhance our understanding of the intricate mechanisms underlying the decline in cellular proliferation capacity in cultured cells.

The discharge of lead and cadmium wastewater, along with the pollution caused by phosphogypsum, represents a particularly urgent environmental issue. This study employed a straightforward hydrothermal method to convert phosphogypsum into porous calcium silicate hydrate (P-CSH), which was then used to remove and recover Pb(II) and Cd(II) from wastewater. The adsorption capacities of P-CSH for Pb(II) and Cd(II) were notably high at 989.3 mg/g and 290.3 mg/g, respectively. The adsorption processes adhered to the pseudo-second-order kinetics model and the Langmuir isotherm model. Due to identical adsorption sites on P-CSH for both Pb(II) and Cd(II), competitive interaction occurred when both ions were present simultaneously. Additionally, the adsorption efficacy was minimally impacted by the presence of common coexisting cations in wastewater. The dominant mechanisms for removing Pb(II) and Cd(II) via P-CSH were chemical precipitation and surface complexation. Moreover, the adsorbed heavy metals were efficiently separated and reclaimed from the wastewater through a stepwise desorption process. The primary components of the residue from stepwise desorption were quartz and amorphous SiO2. Following dissolution via pressurized alkaline leaching, this residue could be recycled for synthesizing P-CSH. This research offered a new strategy for the resourceful use of phosphogypsum and heavy metal wastewater.

Phosphonates are a class of organic phosphorus (P) compounds that contribute ~25% of dissolved organic P. Recent studies reveal the important role of phosphonates mediated by prokaryotes in the marine P redox cycle. However, its bioavailability by eukaryotic phytoplankton is under debate. 2-Aminoethylphosphonic acid (2-AEP) and 2-amino-3-phosphonopropionic acid (2-AP3) are two biogenic phosphonates in the marine environment. Here, Thalassiosira pseudonana, a common diatom species in the ocean, is able to recover growth from P starvation when provided with 2-AEP and 2-AP3. Moreover, 2-AEP cultures exhibited a more similar growth rate at 12 °C than at 25 °C when compared with inorganic P cultures. The cellular stoichiometry of 2-AEP groups was further determined, the values of which are in-between the P-depleted and DIP-replete cultures. This study provides evidence that biogenic phosphonates could be adopted as alternative P sources to support diatom growth and may provide physiological adaptation.

Alunite is used as a representative mineral for indicating deposits in lithocaps, and lithocaps are generally related to the porphyry–(high-sulfidation) epithermal mineralization system. The study of alunite is of theoretical and exploration significance for prospecting potential underlying porphyry and epithermal deposits. Studies on alunite geochemistry have made breakthroughs, but there is little research on alunite mineralogy, for example, using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images, differential thermal analysis (DTA), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). This study mainly focuses on alunite micromorphological characteristics, weight loss changes with temperature, and ionic group structure, aiming to identify the relationship between these features and indications for prospecting. The Fanshan lithocap is located in the northwest part of the Luzong basin, Anhui province of China, and it can potentially be used for exploring porphyry and epithermal deposits. Fanshan alunite is formed in two stages with three types of alunite. IA alunite is formed in the early hydrothermal stage and replaces felsic minerals in the Zhuanqiao Formation, IB alunite is formed in the later hydrothermal stage and fills in open spaces with bladed particles, and II alunite is the product of pyrite oxidation and reaction with other minerals in the supergene stage. Alunite electron microprobe data and energy-dispersive spectroscopy data further confirm temperature decreases with hydrothermal evolution, and the presence of a high-sulfidation epithermal system in the Luzong basin. Aside from the forming environment, SWIR, and geochemistry of alunite, there are other indication indexes; for example, the larger peak values at 3480 cm−1 and smaller peak values at 1080 cm−1 in FT-IR spectra and the deeper exothermic valleys at 750 °C and steeper weight loss slopes in the DTA curve suggest a favorable formation environment for alunite and provide valuable indications for deposit exploration and assessments of mineralization potential.

Abstract This study aimed to assess the relationship between dietary sodium/potassium intake and cognition in elderly individuals with hypertension. We designed a cross‐sectional study based on the 2011–2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2011–2014. A multivariable‐logistic regression analysis was performed to analyze the relationship between sodium/potassium intake and cognitive impairment. Restricted cubic spline (RCS) based on regression analysis to assess the nonlinear dose‐response relationship between dietary sodium intake and cognitive performance. Out of the 2276 participants included in this study, 1670 patients had hypertension. Compared with the lowest quartile of dietary sodium intake, the lowest weighted odds ratio of cognitive impairment in DSST was observed in Q4 (OR = 0.45, 0.29–0.70), and a similar trend was observed in AFT (OR = 0.34, 0.18–0.65). After adjusting the covariates, the lowest weighted multivariable‐adjusted OR of cognitive impairment in DSST were also observed in Q4 (OR = 0.47, 0.26‐0.84) compared with the lowest quartile of dietary sodium intake. The RCS results showed that dietary sodium intake was U‐shaped and associated with the risk of cognitive impairment in the DSST (Pnon–linearity = 0.0067). In addition, no significant association was observed between dietary potassium intake and different dimensions of cognitive performance. In conclusion, excessively high and low low dietary sodium were associated with impairment of specific processing speed, sustained attention, and working memory for elderly patients with hypertension in the United States. However, no association was observed between dietary potassium intake and cognition.

Abstract Background Stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD) is the most common histological type of gastric cancer (GC). Macrophages are an essential part of the tumor microenvironment. We attempted to search for potential molecular markers associated with macrophages, which might be helpful for STAD diagnosis and treatment. Methods Firstly, exosome in macrophages was extracted for RNA sequencing to identify differentially expressed microRNAs (miRNAs) (DEmiRNAs). Then, DEmiRNAs and differentially expressed mRNAs (DEmRNAs) were screened in the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. The miRNAs related to macrophage M2 polarization were obtained by intersecting the DEmiRNAs obtained from the sequencing data and TCGA data. Using the Pearson correlation coefficient method, the mRNAs significantly related to macrophage M2 were screened out, followed by construction of the macrophage M2-miRNA-mRNA network. Subsequently, real-time-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and online datasets were applied to validate the expression of DEmiRNAs and DEmRNAs. Results A total of 6 DEmiRNAs were identified in RNA sequencing; 59 DEmiRNAs and 1838 DEmRNAs were identified in TCGA database. Among which, a common miRNA (hsa-miR-133a-3p) associated with the M2 polarization of macrophages was identified. Fifteen common mRNAs were obtained between DEmRNAs and mRNAs targeted by DEmiRNAs. Eventually, a core macrophage M2-1 down-regulated miRNA-7 and up-regulated mRNAs network was constructed, including hsa-miR-133a-3p, SLC39A1, TTYH3, HAVCR2, TPM3, XPO1, POU2F1, and MMP14. The expression of miRNA and mRNAs was in line with the validation results of RT-PCR and online datasets. Conclusion In this study, the screening of biomarkers in exosome of macrophage M2 may contribute to the prognosis of STAD patients.

In order to explore the impact of high-intensity mining activities on groundwater, a mine field in Shendong Coal Mine Area of Inner Mongolia is selected as the research object. This mine is characterized by a large proportion of mining area on the plane, a large mining size in space and a fast mining speed in time. Based on the collection of relevant hydrometeorological and survey data, the Groundwater Modeling System numerical simulation software was used to establish a Groundwater flow model in accordance with the hydrogeological conditions of the study area. The Groundwater level and flow field under the influence of mining in the study area in the next 10 years were predicted and analyzed. The equilibrium state of groundwater is also analyzed. The results show that the disturbance of Zhiluo group Aquifer is most affected by high intensity mining, and several water level drop funnels are formed in the mining area. The water level in the center of the drop funnels increases from 105 m at the end of the first year to 351 m at the end of the tenth year, and the overall groundwater level and runoff conditions of this layer are changed. The influence of high intensity mining on the aquifer of Zhidan Group is small, and the water flow field changes only in the local position above the mine. In 10 years, the water level at the mining center decreases from 20 m to 116 m. According to the water balance analysis, the total groundwater recharge is 357 589.74 m3/d, and the total excretion is 357 563.62 m3/d, with an error of 0.0073%. Rainfall infiltration is the main recharge source in the study area, accounting for 51.90%, followed by river recharge, accounting for 45.21%. River drainage was the main way of discharge, accounting for 78.24%, followed by phreatic evaporation, accounting for 9.82%, and mine drainage, accounting for 4.52%. The recharge and discharge of the Zhidan group and Zhiluo group account for 12.0% and 5.7% of the total mean measurement in the region, respectively, and mine drainage is the main discharge mode of the Zhiluo Formation aquifers, accounting for 71.3%. The research results provide some basis for the protection of production safety and sustainable development in mining areas.

【Objective】To investigate the effects of acute fresh water stress on the morphological changes of gill, heart, spleen and liver of juvenile Eleutheronema tetradactylum, in order to provide reference for exploring low salinity culture techniques and selection of good breeds.【Methods】Juvenile E. tetradactylum, temporarily reared at salinity 9, with an average overall length of 2.31 cm and an average body mass of 3.81 g, were placed directly into an aquarium with a salinity of 0. Live samples were taken at 2, 6, 12, 24, 48 and 72 h. Histological methods were used to study the gill, heart, spleen and liver structures of juvenile E. tetradactylum under different durations of acute fresh water stress.【Results】In juvenile E. tetradactylum, the length of the gill lamellae tended to increase gradually, the spacing of the gill lamellae increased and then decreased, the width of the gill lamellae decreased and then increased, and the number of mitochondria-rich cells continued to increase when exposed to acute freshwater stress. The number of mitochondria-rich cells continued to increase. The size of the myocardial transverse muscle, the size of the myocardial cell gap and the size of the interstitial vessels all showed a trend of increasing and then decreasing. The peak of myocardial transverse muscle size was 12 h, and the peak of myocardial interstitial and interstitial vessel size was 24 h. The white marrow area and marginal zone area gradually increased from 0 to 24 h, and the colour of melanin macrophages also gradually deepened, reaching a peak at 24 h and then gradually decreasing. 72 h later, the red marrow, marginal zone, white marrow and melanin macrophages were roughly restored to the level of the control group. In the control group, the hepatocytes were large, polyhedral, with rounded nuclei and centrally located, and some hepatocytes had 2-3 nuclei; the hepatic plate was clearly defined; the hepatic blood sinusoids were normally distributed among the hepatocytes. During 24h of stress, the hepatic plate structure was gradually blurred and the gap between the hepatic blood sinusoids was gradually widened, reaching a peak at 24h of stress; during 24-72h of stress, the hepatic plate structure gradually regained clarity, the gap between the hepatic blood sinusoids was gradually reduced and some nuclei lost their intrinsic morphology.【Conclusion】Some tissues of juvenile E. tetradactylum showed stress reaction during 0-24 h, but adapted to the low-salt environment after 24 h. However, there were still some tissues that had difficulty in recovering to the control level after being subjected to low salt stress. This indicates that juvenile E. tetradactylum have some ability to adapt to low salt stress.

Abstract Background Chronic musculoskeletal pain has been linked to dementia; however, chronic pain typically occurs in multiple sites; therefore, this study was to investigate whether greater number of chronic pain sites is associated with a higher risk of dementia and its subtypes. Methods Participants (N = 356,383) in the UK Biobank who were dementia-free at baseline were included. Pain in the hip, knee, back, and neck/shoulder or ‘all over the body’ and its duration were assessed. Participants were categorised into six groups: no chronic pain; chronic pain in 1, 2, 3, and 4 sites, and ‘all over the body’. All-cause dementia and its subtypes were ascertained using hospital inpatient and death registry records. Cox regression was used to investigate the associations between the number of chronic pain sites and the incidence of all-cause dementia and its subtypes. Results Over a median follow-up of 13 years, 4959 participants developed dementia. After adjustment for sociodemographic, lifestyle, comorbidities, pain medications, psychological problems, and sleep factors, greater number of chronic pain sites was associated with an increased risk of incident all-cause dementia (hazard ratio [HR] = 1.08 per 1 site increase, 95% CI 1.05–1.11) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) (HR = 1.09 per 1-site increase, 95% CI 1.04–1.13) in a dose–response manner but not vascular and frontotemporal dementia. No significant association was found between the number of chronic pain sites and the risk of incident all-cause dementia among a subsample that underwent a fluid intelligence test. Conclusions Greater number of chronic pain sites was associated with an increased risk of incident all-cause dementia and AD, suggesting that chronic pain in multiple sites may contribute to individuals’ dementia risk and is an underestimated risk factor for dementia.

In this paper, arc oscillation is applied in the fabrication of 2319 aluminum alloy samples by cold metal transition wire arc additive manufacturing process (CMT-WAAM). The porosity, microstructure and mechanical properties of 2319 aluminum alloy under different arc oscillation patterns were discussed. The results showed that the stirring of arc oscillation can influence the molten pool shape and improve the fluidity, change the thermal distribution and the growth direction of columnar crystal. Arc oscillation has a obvious effect on reducing the grain size and proportion of pores. After using the spiral arc oscillation pattern and asymmetrical trapezoid arc oscillation pattern, the volume fraction of pores reduced from 2.64% to 1.09% and 1.22%, and the size of pores was mainly smaller than 40 μm, respectively. The tensile strength in vertical direction and plasticity were improved with arc oscillation, but its effect on the horizontal tensile strength was not noticeable. After solid solution-aging treatment, the tensile strength of the sample with spiral arc oscillation pattern increased to 277 MPa, with a cross-section reduction of 3.6%.

Abstract This article constructed a food taste deviation index using text analysis based on food culture as a measure of cultural inclusion. Cultural inclusion was related to corporate total factor productivity, aiming to investigate whether the cultural inclusion affects corporate sustainability. The findings showed uneven distribution of cultural inclusion in various areas of China, contributing to the unbalanced sustainable development of firms in different regions, as reflected by the higher total factor productivity of firms located in regions with higher cultural inclusion. A test using mountainous undulation as an instrumental variable verified the causal relationship between cultural inclusion and firm sustainability. Besides, a regression discontinuity design was employed to mitigate the impacts of the bidirectional causality. Moreover, a high level of cultural inclusion in top managers’ hometown significantly improved corporate sustainability, suggesting that executives can transmit cultural inclusion in society. In addition, firms in more inclusive regions are more motivated to increase their social responsibility to staff as a way to promote their total factor productivity, suggesting that cultural inclusion promotes firm sustainability by increasing firms’ care for staff. This article also found that cultural inclusion has heterogeneous effects across firms of different levels of industry competition, and different levels of analyst attention. The research reveals the impact of cultural inclusion on the real economy and help academics dissect the informal institutional reasons behind the sustainable development of firms in different geographies from a new perspective, contributing to the promotion of economic sustainability at the regional level and related policy formulation.

This study aimed to explore the role and mechanism of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSCs) in regulating inflammation of bronchial epithelial cells. Transforming growth factor beta-1 (TGF-β1) was used to induce inflammation in human bronchial epithelial cells. Cell proliferation was detected through CCK8 and cell apoptosis was detected by Annexin V and propidium iodide double staining. E-cadherin and α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) were detected by immunofluorescence, and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin 6 (IL-6) in culture medium supernatant were detected by ELISA. The expression of E-cadherin, α-SMA, Sonic hedgehog (Shh), Gli1 and Snail was detected by Western blot analysis. Compared with the control group, bronchial epithelial cells treated with TGF-β1 showed significantly decreased proliferation, increased apoptosis, increased secretion of TNF-α and IL-6, increased expression of α-SMA, Shh, Gli1 and Snail and decreased E-cadherin expression. However, co-culture with UCMSCs inhibited TGF-β1-induced changes in human bronchial epithelial cell proliferation, apoptosis, secretion of TNF-α and IL-6 and activation of the Hedgehog pathway. In conclusion, UCMSCs have protective effects on TGF-β1-induced inflammation in human bronchial epithelial cells by regulating the Hedgehog pathway.

ABSTRACT To solve the problems of low efficiency, poor fertilizer application, and low fertilizer utilization rate of existing wheat layered fertilization devices (LFD). This paper proposed a layered fertilization mode combining shallow fertilizer application based on rotary tillage and middle/deep fertilizer application of layered fertilizer shovel (LFS), and designed a combined spatial layered fertilization device with a fixed proportion. A discrete element simulation model consisting of soil, LFS and fertilizer was established. Taking the variation coefficients of fertilization amount as the evaluation indicator and changing the sidewall deflection angle, rear inclination angle, upper channel length of LFS, a three-factor three-level quadratic rotational orthogonal experiment was carried out. The optimal parameter combination was obtained: the deflection angle was 9.5°, the inclination angle was 57°, and the channel length was 280 mm. The corresponding variation coefficients of fertilizer application depth were 4.55%, 8.44%, and 6.93% while working stably under the optimal combination, which is consistent with the simulation results. The results showed that LFD can apply fertilizer underground in three layers: 0~10, 15, and 20 cm, with the proportion of shallow, middle, and deep fertilizers being 30%, 35%, and 35%, which can meet the agronomic requirements for winter wheat growth.

Summary: Accurate assessment of coal mine methane (CMM) emissions is a prerequisite for defining baselines and assessing the effectiveness of mitigation measures. Such an endeavor is jeopardized, however, by large uncertainties in current CMM estimates. Here, we assimilated atmospheric methane column concentrations observed by the TROPOMI space borne instrument in a high-resolution regional inversion to estimate CMM emissions in Shanxi, a province representing 15% of the global coal production. The emissions are estimated to be 8.5 ± 0.6 and 8.6 ± 0.6 Tg CH4 yr−1 in 2019 and 2020, respectively, close to upper bound of current bottom-up estimates. Data from more than a thousand of individual mines indicate that our estimated emission factors increase significantly with coal mining depth at prefecture level, suggesting that ongoing deeper mining will increase CMM emission intensity. Our results show robustness of estimating CMM emissions utilizing TROPOMI images and highlight potential of monitoring methane leakages and emissions from satellites.

Residual stresses, related distortions and cracks are detrimental in metallic Additive Manufacturing (AM). Previously developed stress-control strategies based on reducing thermal gradients hardly diminish the stress concentrations at the built basement and easily affect other physical phenomena involved in AM. To overcome this, a novel strategy, named as Smart-Substrate, consisting of optimising the inner structure and local stiffness of the substrate is proposed to avert stress accretion and related part deformations. To demonstrate its advantages, a coupled thermomechanical finite element model for AM, experimentally calibrated with in-situ temperature and displacement measurements, is employed to analyse the thermal and mechanical behaviour of three groups of different structures with increasing geometrical complexity (single-wall, rectangular and block parts) fabricated by Directed Energy Deposit (DED) on the standard and smart substrates, respectively. Through using Smart-Substrate, the generation of residual stresses, especially the stress concentrations at the bottom corner of DED-builds being highly sensitive to cracks, and the induced deflections, are fundamentally throttled, and contrariwise for the standard substrate. More importantly, the use of Smart-Substrate is almost without prejudice to the temperature field, metallurgy and resulting mechanical hardness. This provides a possibility for addressing different physical problems individually, enlarging the AM process window.

Hybrid rocket engines suffer from the restricted mechanical properties and low regression rates of current polymeric fuel grains. We propose a three-dimensional printed aluminium (Al) nested composite fuel grain with millimetre-scale lattice pores (referred to as Al-L). In this study, breathable Al blades with micrometer-scale interconnected pores (Al-B) and blades combining millimetre-scale and micrometer-scale pores (Al-B&L) are designed. The formation mechanisms, characteristics, and effects of the breathable blades are analysed in simulations, micro-computed tomography, and cyclic compression tests. The mechanical properties of the composite fuel grains are investigated numerically and in compression tests. Al-B has the highest Young’s modulus at more than 15 times that of a paraffin-based fuel grain and Al-B&L has the highest yield stress at 4 times that of the paraffin-based fuel grain. Referring to combustion properties, the regression rates of the Al-B and Al-B&L grains are respectively 63.3% and 58.2% greater than the regression rate of the paraffin-based fuel grain.

ObjectivesTo investigate the current situation regarding occupational burnout among coal miners, explore the relationship between NR3C2 gene polymorphism and occupational burnout, and analyze the influence of the interaction between environment and gene on occupational burnout. This study provides a scientific basis for formulating health strategies to combat job burnout.MethodsA total of 1,500 first-line coal mine workers were selected by cluster random sampling, and the job burnout scale, job content questionnaire (JCQ), and simplified coping style questionnaire (SCSQ) were used for the questionnaire survey. A total of 150 workers were randomly selected from the high burnout group and the low burnout group, and a total of 300 workers were selected as the research objects to examine the relationship between gene polymorphism, environment-gene interactions and burnout. This study employed iMLDRTM genotyping technology for NR3C2 gene (rs5522, rs2070950) polymorphism analysis. The relationship between the occurrence of job burnout, occupational stress, coping styles and the NR3C2 gene was analyzed.ResultsFinally, a total of 1,282 valid questionnaires were retrieved, with an effective recovery rate of 85.5%. The study included 128 participants (10%) with zero burnout, 400 (31.2%) with mild burnout, 649 (50.6%) with moderate burnout and 105 (8.2%) with severe burnout. There were significant differences in the rate of burnout among miners with respect to sex, age, working years, educational level, shifts, and marital status (P < 0.05). The difference in occupational stress between the different job burnout groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Compared with the GG genotype of rs2070950 of the NR3C2 gene, the CC genotype was identified as a susceptibility gene for occupational burnout (P < 0.05). In respect to rs5522, rs2070950, occupational stress, positive coping, and negative coping, the low-risk group was unlikely to suffer from job burnout compared with the high-risk group (OR = 0.103, 95%CI: 0.058–0.182).ConclusionIn addition to demographic characteristics, occupational stress and negative coping styles were also identified as risk factors for job burnout. The interaction between locus rs5522, locus rs2070950, occupational stress, positive response, and negative response were found to affect the incidence of occupational burnout.

Abstract Predicting future land system changes driven by anthropogenic and climactic impacts can help to explore adaptation and mitigation pathways for regional and global sustainable development. Here, we project land cover changes in China from 2030 to 2100 at a resolution of 1 km × 1 km under eight scenarios based on the Scenario Model Intercomparison Project (ScenraioMIP), which are extracted from Land Use Harmonization version 2 (LUH2). We use a rule‐based method to classify and map 9 land cover dynamic trajectories at patch scale to present land system changes. At the provincial scale we used hierarchical clustering to identify archetypes of land cover change, which can predict ecological risks for future management in western provinces. Our results reveal that anthropogenic mitigation policies under high mitigation pressure do not result in positive impacts on the land system, but rising temperatures will provide a great opportunity for ecological restoration in some regions.

This paper addresses the performance and environmental impact evaluation of a developed UHPC with recycled mixed powder (RMP) and aeolian sand (AS). The RMP is obtained from the crushing and grinding of waste concrete blocks and clay bricks. The RMP and AS are used instead of cement and river sand during the UHPC's production. The macroperformance, hydration kinetics, microstructure development, and environmental impact of the newly produced UHPC are evaluated. The experimental results reveal that the effect and mechanism of RMP on the fluidity of UHPC are different from that of AS. The RMP and AS show a specific synergistic effect. The RMP can promote the initial hydration of the mixture but restricts its cumulative heat. The AS acts as a nucleation site to promote the secondary hydration reaction involving RMP. The ecological assessment demonstrates that the developed UHPC incorporating RMP and AS can reduce the burden on the environment.

Abstract The temperature distribution of the tri‐post insulator in a ±500 kV direct current gas‐insulated transmission lines (DC‐GIL) is investigated. The influence of thermal gradient on the electric field characteristics is investigated as well. A horizontally installed GIL model is applied in the simulation. The thermal and electric parameters of the insulator are measured and employed. The temperature results indicate that the gas shows a layered distribution pattern while the insulator shows a radial distribution pattern. The temperature of the upper post is higher. With increasing ambient temperature, the surface temperature increases linearly following the variation of ambient temperature. With increasing load current, the temperature near the conductor shows an obvious increase. With increasing gas pressure, the temperature decreases due to the promotion of convection. Besides, the electric field strength of the insulator surface increases if the surface temperature increases during the variation of operating conditions. And the peak of field strength moves towards the enclosure. After 10 h, the temperature reaches a quasi‐stationary state. Since the thermal gradient affects the distribution of gas density and electric field strength of the insulator, the investigation of temperature characteristics is necessary when evaluating the insulating performance of DC‐GIL with insulators.

Abstract Objective Oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy (OPMD) is a late‐onset inherited neuromuscular disorder, with progressive ptosis and dysphagia as common manifestations. To date, OPMD has rarely been reported among East Asians. The present study summarizes the phenotypic and genotypic features of Chinese patients with OPMD. Methods Twenty‐one patients with molecularly confirmed OPMD from 9 unrelated families were identified by direct sequencing of the polyadenlyate binding protein nuclear‐1 (PABPN1) gene. Immunofluorescence staining of muscle biopsies was conducted to identify the components of protein degradation pathways involved in OPMD. Results In our cohort, the genetically confirmed OPMD group had a mean age at onset of 50.6 ± 4.2 years (range 45–60 years). Ptosis (42.9%) was the most common initial symptom; patients with ptosis as the first symptom subsequently developed dysphagia within a median time of 5.5 years (range 1–19 years). Evidence of external ophthalmoplegia was found in 38.1% of patients. A total of 33.3% of the patients developed muscle weakness at a median age at onset of 66 years (range 50–70 years), with neck flexor involvement in all patients. Five genotypes were observed in our cohort, including classical (GCG)9–11 repeats in 7 families and non‐GCG elongations with additional GCA expansions in 2 families. OPMD muscle biopsies revealed rimmed vacuoles and intranuclear filamentous inclusions. The PABPN1 protein showed substantial accumulation in the nuclei of muscle fiber aggregates and closely colocalized with p62, LC3B and FK2. Interpretation Our findings indicate wide genetic heterogeneity in OPMD in the Chinese population and demonstrate abnormalities in protein degradation pathways in this disease.

Abstract In recent years, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have made great achievements in the field of medical image segmentation, especially full convolutional neural networks based on U-shaped structures and skip connections. However, limited by the inherent limitations of convolution, CNNs-based methods usually exhibit limitations in modeling long-range dependencies and are unable to extract large amounts of global contextual information, which deprives neural networks of the ability to adapt to different visual modalities. In this paper, we propose our own model, which is called iU-Net bacause its structure closely resembles the combination of i and U. iU-Net is a multiple encoder-decoder structure combining Swin Transformer and CNN. We use a hierarchical Swin Transformer structure with shifted windows as the primary encoder and convolution as the secondary encoder to complement the context information extracted by the primary encoder. To sufficiently fuse the feature information extracted from multiple encoders, we design a feature fusion module (W-FFM) based on wave function representation. Besides, a three branch up sampling method(Tri-Upsample) has developed to replace the patch expand in the Swin Transformer, which can effectively avoid the Checkerboard Artifacts caused by the patch expand. On the skin lesion region segmentation task, the segmentation performance of iU-Net is optimal, with Dice and Iou reaching 90.12% and 83.06%, respectively. To verify the generalization of iU-Net, we used the model trained on ISIC2018 dataset to test on PH2 dataset, and achieved 93.80% Dice and 88.74% IoU. On the lung feild segmentation task, the iU-Net achieved optimal results on IoU and Precision, reaching 98.54% and 94.35% respectively. Extensive experiments demonstrate the segmentation performance and generalization ability of iU-Net.

Abstract Background The fat mass and nutritional status play important roles in the onset and progression of cancer cachexia. The present study evaluated the joint prognostic value of the fat mass, as indicated by the triceps skinfold thickness (TSF), and the serum albumin level, for mortality in patients with cancer cachexia. Methods We performed a multicentre cohort study including 5134 patients with cancer cachexia from January 2013 to April 2019. The sum of the TSF (mm) and serum albumin (g/L) was defined as the triceps skinfold–albumin index (TA). Harrell's C index, a time‐dependent receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis and the area under the curve (AUC) were used to evaluate the prognostic performance of the TA and other indices. Optimal stratification was used to identify the thresholds to define a low TA, and the association of the TA with all‐cause mortality was evaluated using Kaplan–Meier analysis and Cox proportional hazard regression models. The spatial transcriptome has enabled researchers to resolve transcriptome expression profiles while preserving information about cell location to better understand the complex biological processes that occur in organisms. Due to technical limitations, the current high-throughput spatial transcriptome sequencing methods (known as next-generation sequencing with spatial barcoding methods or spot-based methods) cannot achieve single-cell resolution. A single measurement site, called a spot, in these technologies frequently contains multiple cells of various types. Computational tools for determining the cellular composition of a spot have emerged as a way to break through these limitations. These tools are known as deconvolution tools. Recently, a couple of deconvolution tools based on different strategies have been developed and have shown promise in different aspects. The resulting single-cell resolution expression profiles and/or single-cell composition of spots will significantly affect downstream data mining; thus, it is crucial to choose a suitable deconvolution tool. In this review, we present a list of currently available tools for spatial transcriptome deconvolution, categorize them based on the strategies they employ, and explain their advantages and limitations in detail in order to guide the selection of these tools in future studies.

Abstract Evolutionary multimodal optimization algorithms aim to provide multiple solutions simultaneously. Many studies have been conducted to design effective evolutionary algorithms for solving multimodal optimization problems. However, optimization problems with many global and acceptable local optima have not received much attention. This type of problem is undoubtedly challenging. In this study, we focus on problems with many optima, the so-called many-modal optimization problems, and this study is an extension of our previous conference work. First, a test suite including additively nonseparable many-modal optimization problems and partially additively separable many-modal optimization problems is designed. Second, an improved difficulty-based cooperative co-evolution algorithm (DBCC2) is proposed, which dynamically estimates the difficulties of subproblems and allocates the computational resources during the search. Experimental results show that DBCC2 has competitive performance.

The achievement of fine equiaxed β grain with conventional intragranular (α-Ti+β-Ti) microstructure in additive manufacturing titanium alloy remains a big challenge. We conquer this challenge by synergistically controlling β-grains during both solidification and subsequent thermal-cycles of laser directed energy deposition (DED), and a solution + quenching heat-treatment. Both the strength and plasticity of heat-treated Ti6Al4V3Ni0.05B are superior to those reported new DED titanium alloy and comparable to that of DED Ti6Al4V, because of the fine-equiaxed β-grains with intragranular (α-Ti+β-Ti) microstructure. These findings provide new insight into the grain structure control and the composition design of AM titanium alloy.

This study investigated combustion characteristics of composite fuel grains designed based on a modular fuel unit strategy. The modular fuel unit comprised a periodical helical structure with nine acrylonitrile–butadiene–styrene helical blades. A paraffin-based fuel was embedded between adjacent blades. Two modifications of the helical structure framework were researched. One mirrored the helical blades, and the other periodically extended the helical blades by perforation. A laboratory-scale hybrid rocket engine was used to investigate combustion characteristics of the fuel grains at an oxygen mass flux of 2.1–6.0 g/(s·cm2). Compared with the composite fuel grain with periodically extended helical blades, the modified composite fuel grains exhibited higher regression rates and a faster rise of regression rates as the oxygen mass flux increased. At an oxygen mass flux of 6.0 g/(s·cm2), the regression rate of the composite fuel grains with perforation and mirrored helical blades increased by 8.0% and 14.1%, respectively. The oxygen-to-fuel distribution of the composite fuel grain with mirrored helical blades was more concentrated, and its combustion efficiency was stable. Flame structure characteristics in the combustion chamber were visualized using a radiation imaging technique. A rapid increase in flame thickness of the composite fuel grains based on the modular unit was observed, which was consistent with their high regression rates. A simplified numerical simulation was carried out to elucidate the mechanism of the modified modular units on performance enhancement of the composite hybrid rocket grains.

The transmission spectrum of a narrow-band interference filter is crucial and highly influenced by factors such as the temperature and angle, thus requiring precise and online measurements. The traditional method of measuring the transmission spectrum of an interference filter involves the use of a spectrometer, but the accuracy of this method is limited. Moreover, placing a narrow-band interference filter inside a spectrometer hinders real-time online measurements. To address this issue, there is demand for high-precision online spectral testing methods. In response to this demand, we propose and experimentally validate a fine spectral characterization method for narrow-band interference filters. This method uses a narrow-linewidth tunable laser, achieving a spectral resolution in the MHz range for online testing. Two types of narrow-band interference filters were tested using the constructed laser spectroscopy experimental system, obtaining a transmission spectrum with a spectral resolution of 318 MHz. In comparison to spectrometer-based methods, our proposed method demonstrates higher spectral accuracy, enables online measurements, and provides more accurate measurements for special spectral interference filters. This approach has significant application value and promising development prospects.

The excessive accumulation of foam in wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) tanks can impede proper aeration, hindering the effective removal of organic matter from the water. This study proposes a novel technique to monitor in real time the presence of foams in WWTP tanks by using texture segmentation models trained with centralized and federated approaches. These models are designed to segment the foam and quantify the percentage of foam coverage across the entire tank surface. This data provides plant operators with crucial information for identifying the optimal time for foam removal. The proposed methodology is integrated into an image processing pipeline that involves acquiring images using a PTZ camera, ensuring the absence of anomalies in the captured images, and implementing a real-time communication method for event notifications to plant operators. The models exhibit noteworthy performance, achieving an 86% Dice score in foam segmentation, with comparable results obtained through both centralized and federated training. Implemented in a wastewater treatment plant, this integrated pipeline enhances operational efficiency while concurrently reducing costs.

Abstract Exploration of exotic spin polarizations in single crystals is of increasing interest. A current of longitudinal spins, the so‐called “Dresselhaus‐like” spin current, which is forbidden in materials lacking certain inversion asymmetries, is implied to be generated by a charge current at the interface of single‐crystal CoFe. This work reports unambiguous evidence that there is no indication of spin current of any spin polarizations from the interface or bulk of single‐crystalline CoFe and that the sin2φ second harmonic Hall voltage, which is previously assumed to signify Dresselhaus‐like spin current, is not related to any spin currents but rather a planar Nernst voltage induced by a longitudinal temperature gradient within the sample. Such sin2φ signal is independent of large applied magnetic fields and interfacial spin‐orbit coupling, inversely correlated to the heat capacity of the substrates and overlayers, quadratic in charge current, and appears also in polycrystalline ferromagnets. Strikingly, the planar Nernst effect (PNE) in the CoFe single crystal has a strong fourfold anisotropy and varies with the crystalline orientation. Such strong, anisotropic PNE has widespread impacts on the analyses of a variety of spintronic experiments and opens a new avenue for the development of PNE‐based thermoelectric battery and sensor applications.
