Search

Supersymmetric models with bilinear $R$-parity violation (BRpV) provide a framework for neutrino masses and mixing angles to explain neutrino oscillation data. We consider $CP$ violation within the new physical phases in BRpV and discuss their effect on the generation of neutrino masses and the decays of the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP), being a light neutralino with mass $\ensuremath{\sim}100\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$, at next-to-leading order. The decays affect the lepton and via sphaleron transitions the baryon asymmetry in the early universe. For a rather light LSP, asymmetries generated before the electroweak phase transition via e.g. the Affleck-Dine mechanism are reduced up to 2 orders of magnitude, but are still present. On the other hand, the decays of a light LSP themselves can account for the generation of a lepton and baryon asymmetry, the latter in accordance with the observation in our universe, since the smallness of the BRpV parameters allows for an out-of-equilibrium decay and sufficiently large $CP$ violation is possible consistent with experimental bounds from the nonobservation of electric dipole moments.

We present a new kit for the study of flavor observables in models beyond the standard model. The setup is based on the public codes SARAH and SPheno and allows for an easy implementation of new observables. The Wilson coefficients of the corresponding operators in the effective Lagrangian are computed by SPheno modules written by SARAH. New operators can also be added by the user in a modular way. For this purpose a handy Mathematica package called PreSARAH has been developed. This uses FeynArts and FormCalc to derive the generic form factors at tree- and 1-loop levels and to generate the necessary input files for SARAH. This framework has been used to implement BR($\ell_\alpha\to \ell_\beta \gamma$), BR($\ell_\alpha \to 3\, \ell_\beta$), CR($\mu-e,A$), BR($\tau \to P \, \ell$), BR($h\to \ell_\alpha \ell_\beta$), BR($Z\to \ell_\alpha \ell_\beta$), BR($B_{s,d}^0 \to \ell \bar{\ell}$), BR($\bar B \to X_s\gamma$), BR($\bar B \to X_s \ell \bar{\ell}$), BR($\bar B \to X_{d,s} \nu \bar \nu$), BR($K^+ \to \pi^+ \nu \bar \nu$), BR($K_L \to \pi^0 \nu \bar \nu$), $\Delta M_{B_s,B_d}$, $\Delta M_K$, $\varepsilon_K$, BR($B \to K \mu \bar{\mu}$), BR($B\to \ell \nu$), BR($D_s \to \ell \nu$) and BR($K \to \ell \nu$) in SARAH. Predictions for these observables can now be obtained in a wide range of SUSY and non-SUSY models. We examine the possibilities for constructing models with Dirac gaugino masses and unification of gauge couplings. We identify one promising model, and discuss to what extent it can have a "natural SUSY" spectrum. We then determine the low-energy constraints upon it, and propose a constrained set of boundary conditions at the unification scale. We describe the implementation of these boundary conditions in the spectrum-generator generator \SARAH and we perform a first exploration of the parameter space, specifically searching for points where the spectrum is relatively light. It is shown that the pattern of the masses of SUSY states is very different compared to any expectations from the constrained MSSM., 31 + 28 pages, 10 figures, 1 table

There have been some recent claims in the literature about large right-handed sneutrinos contributions to lepton flavor violating observables like $\mu \to 3e$ or $\mu - e$ conversion in nuclei in supersymmetric low-scale seesaw models. These large contributions originate from $Z$-penguin diagrams which show a much weaker dependence on the heavy masses than the photonic contributions. We have traced this to an error in the evaluation of the corresponding loop amplitudes which has propagated in the literature. We explicitly show that after correcting this mistake the $Z$-penguins show the expected decoupling behavior. We discuss higher dimensional effective operators describing interactions between fermionic dark matter and Standard Model particles. They are typically suppressed compared to the leading order effective operators, which can explain why no conclusive direct dark matter detection has been made so far. The ultraviolet completions of the effective operators, which we systematically study, require new particles. These particles can potentially have masses at the TeV scale and can therefore be phenomenologically interesting for LHC physics. We demonstrate that the lowest order options require Higgs-portal interactions generated by dimension six operators. We list all possible tree-level completions with extra fermions and scalars, and we discuss the LHC phenomenology of a specific example with extra heavy fermion doublets., 27 pages, 11 figures, 3 tables

We discuss production and decays of stops, sbottoms, τ-sneutrinos, and staus in e+e− annihilation in the energy range √s = 0.5-1TeV. We present numerical predictions within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model for cross sections and decay rates, including one-loop radiative corrections as well as initial state radiation. We also study the importance of beam polarization for the determination of the underlying SUSY parameters. Moreover, we make a comparison of the potential to study squarks and sleptons of the 3rd generation between Tevatron, LHC, and Linear Collider.

We calculate the supersymmetric ${\cal O}(\alpha_s)$ QCD corrections to stop and sbottom decays into vector bosons within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. We give analytic formulae and perform a numerical analysis of these decays. We find that SUSY-QCD corrections to the decay widths are typically -5% to -10% depending on the squark masses, squark mixing angles, and the gluino mass.

We re-evaluate the constraints on the parameter space of the minimal supersymmetric standard model from tunneling to charge- and/or color-breaking minima, taking into account thermal corrections. We pay particular attention to the region known as the Natural MSSM, where the masses of the scalar partners of the top quarks are within an order of magnitude or so of the electroweak scale. These constraints arise from the interaction between these scalar tops and the Higgs fields, which allows the possibility of parameter points having deep charge- and color-breaking true vacua. In addition to requiring that our electro-weak-symmetry-breaking, yet QCD- and electromagnetism-preserving vacuum has a sufficiently long lifetime at zero temperature, also demanding stability against thermal tunneling further restricts the allowed parameter space., Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures, software available from http://vevacious.hepforge.org/ - version 2 matches that accepted for publication in Phys. We study quark flavour violation (QFV) in the squark sector of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). We assume mixing between the second and the third squark generations, i.e. sc_R-st_{L,R} mixing mixing. We focus on QFV effects in bosonic squark decays, in particular on the decay into the lightest Higgs boson h0, su_2 -> su_1 h0, where su_{1,2} are the lightest up-type squarks. We show that the branching ratio of this QFV decay can be quite large (up to 50 %) due to large QFV trilinear couplings, and large sc_R-st_{L, R} and st_L-st_R mixing, despite the strong constraints on QFV from B meson data. This can result in characteristic QFV final states with significant rates at LHC (14 TeV), such as pp -> gluino gluino X -> t + h0 + 3jets + Etmiss + X and pp -> gluino gluino X -> t t (or tbar tbar) + h0 + 2jets + Etmiss + X. We perform a study of the stability of R-parity-conserving vacua of a constrained version of the minimal supersymmetric model with a gauged U(1)_{B-L} which can conserve R-parity, using homotopy continuation to find all the extrema of the tree-level potential, for which we also calculated the one-loop corrections. While we find that a majority of the points in the parameter space preserve R-parity, we find that a significant portion of points which naively have phenomenologically acceptable vacua which conserve R-parity actually have deeper vacua which break R-parity through sneutrino VEVs. We investigate under what conditions the deeper R-parity-violating vacua appear. We find that while previous exploratory work was broadly correct in some of its qualitative conclusions, we disagree in detail.

We consider a supersymmetric model motivated by a SO(10) grand unified theory: the gauge sector near the supersymmetry scale consists of SU(3)_c x SU(2)_L x U(1)_R x U(1)_{B-L}. We embed this model in minimal gauge mediation and incorporate neutrino data via an inverse seesaw mechanism. Also in this restricted model, the additional D terms can rise the light Higgs mass in a sizable way. Therefore, it is much easier to obtain m_h \simeq 125 GeV without the need to push the supersymmetry spectrum to extremely large values as it happens in models with minimal supersymmetric standard model particle content only. We show that this model predicts a diphoton rate of the Higgs equal to or smaller than the standard model expectation. We discuss briefly the collider phenomenology with a particular focus on the next to lightest supersymmetric particle in which this model offers the sneutrino as an additional possiblity. Moreover, we point out that, also in this model variant, supersymmetry can be discovered in Z' decays even in scenarios in which the strongly interacting particles are too heavy to be produced at a sizable rate at the LHC with 14 TeV. In addition, we show that lepton flavor violating observables constrain the size of the neutrino Yukawa couplings for which, in particular, muon decays and \mu-e conversion in heavy atoms are of particular importance. Once these constraints are fulfilled the rates for \tau decays are predicted to be below the reach of near-future experiments.

Several extensions of the Standard Model of particle physics contain additional scalars implying a more complex scalar potential compared to that of the Standard Model. In general these potentials allow for charge and/or color breaking minima besides the desired one with correctly broken SU(2)_L times U(1)_Y . Even if one assumes that a metastable local minimum is realized, one has to ensure that its lifetime exceeds that of our universe. We introduce a new program called Vevacious which takes a generic expression for a one-loop effective potential energy function and finds all the tree-level extrema, which are then used as the starting points for gradient-based minimization of the one-loop effective potential. The tunneling time from a given input vacuum to the deepest minimum, if different from the input vacuum, can be calculated. The parameter points are given as files in the SLHA format (though is not restricted to supersymmetric models), and new model files can be easily generated automatically by the Mathematica package SARAH. This code uses HOM4PS2 to find all the minima of the tree-level potential, PyMinuit to follow gradients to the minima of the one-loop potential, and CosmoTransitions to calculate tunneling times., 44 pages, 1 figure, manual for publicly available software, v2 corresponds to version accepted for publication in EPJC [clearer explanation of scale dependence and region of validity, explicit mention that SLHA files should have blocks matching those expected by model files, updated references]

Models, where neutrino mass originates from physics at the TeV scale and which are potentially testable at the LHC, need additional suppression mechanisms to describe the smallness of neutrino masses. We consider models in which neutrino mass is generated from the d=7 operator $L L H_u H_u H_d H_u$ in the context of SUSY-GUTs containing an SU(5) subgroup, here the d=5 Weinberg operator can be forbidden by a discrete symmetry. That is, we identify the embeddings in GUT multiplets and their consequences for phenomenology and renormalization group evolution. We use a specific example to exemplify the challenges. In this case, additional heavy d-quarks are predicted, which are constrained by cosmology, in particular, by big bang nucleosynthesis and direct searches for heavy nuclei. We show that in the NMSSM extension of the model, the discrete symmetry needs to be broken, which can be the origin of deviations from tri-bimaximal mixings. Finally we demonstrate that our example is the only tree level decomposition which is consistent with perturbativity up to the GUT scale and neutrino mass generation by a leading d=7 contribution., 16 pages, 1 figure, 4 tables

The existence of multiple non-equivalent minima of the scalar potential in SUSY models both raises technical challenges and introduces interesting physics. The technical challenges are now that one has to find several minima and evaluate which is the deepest, as well as calculate the tunneling time from a false vacuum to the true vacuum. We present here studies on the vacuum stability and color/charge breaking minima in the CMSSM and R parity violating minima in a B-L extended MSSM., Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures, to appear in EPS-HEP 2013 conference proceedings

We study a supersymmetric version of the type-III seesaw mechanism considering two variants of the model: a minimal version for explaining neutrino data with only two copies of 24 superfields and a model with three generations of 24-plets. The latter predicts, in general, rates for mu -> e gamma inconsistent with experimental data. However, this bound can be evaded if certain special conditions within the neutrino sector are fulfilled. In the case of two 24-plets, lepton flavor violation constraints can be satisfied much more easily. After specifying the corresponding regions in the minimal supergravity parameter space, we show that under favorable conditions one can test the corresponding flavor structures in the leptonic sector at the LHC. For this we perform Monte Carlo studies for the signals, also taking into account the supersymmetry background. We find that it is only of minor importance for the scenarios studied here., We thank J. C. The SUSY Les Houches Accord (SLHA) 2 extended the first SLHA to include various generalisations of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) as well as its simplest next-to-minimal version. Here, we propose further extensions to it, to include the most general and well-established see-saw descriptions (types I/II/III, inverse, and linear) in both an effective and a simple gauged extension of the MSSM framework. In addition, we generalise the PDG numbering scheme to reflect the properties of the particles, We would like to thank the organisers of the Les Houches 2011 “Physics at TeV colliders” workshop where this project has started. We present general model-independent formulae for the branching ratios and the direct tagged CP asymmetries for the inclusive $\bar B \rightarrow X_d\, \gamma$ and $\bar B \rightarrow X_s\, \gamma$ modes. We discuss the minimal supersymmetric $U(1)_{B-L}\times U(1)_R$ extension of the standard model. Gauge couplings unify as in the MSSM, even if the scale of $U(1)_{B-L}\times U(1)_R$ breaking is as low as order TeV and the model can be embedded into an SO(10) grand unified theory. The phenomenology of the model differs in some important aspects from the MSSM, leading potentially to rich phenomenology at the LHC. It predicts more light Higgs states and the mostly left CP-even Higgs has a mass reaching easily 125 GeV, with no constraints on the SUSY spectrum. Right sneutrinos can be the lightest supersymmetric particle, changing all dark matter constraints on SUSY parameter space. The model has seven neutralinos and squark/gluino decay chains involve more complicated cascades than in the MSSM. We also discuss briefly low-energy and accelerator constraints on the model, where the most important limits come from recent $Z'$ searches at the LHC and upper limits on lepton flavour violation.

We consider a supersymmetric version of the standard model extended by an additional U(1)_{B-L}. This model can be embedded in an mSUGRA-inspired model where the mass parameters of the scalars and gauginos unify at the scale of grand unification. In this class of models the renormalization group equation evolution of gauge couplings as well as of the soft SUSY-breaking parameters require the proper treatment of gauge kinetic mixing. We first show that this has a profound impact on the phenomenolgy of the Z' and as a consequence the current LHC bounds on its mass are reduced significantly from about 1920 GeV to 1725 GeV. They are even further reduced if the Z' can decay into supersymmetric particles. Secondly, we show that in this way sleptons can be produced at the LHC in the 14 TeV phase with masses of several hundred GeV. In the case of squark and gluino masses in the multi-TeV range, this might become an important discovery channel for sleptons up to 650 GeV (800 GeV) for an integrated luminosity of 100 fb^{-1} (300 fb^{-1})., Comment: 34 pages, 14 figures. v2: Significance equation corrected, results qualitatively unchanged; minor changes in quantitative Z' bounds

We present the possible signatures appearing in general realizations of the MSSM based on 14 unrelated mass parameters at the SUSY scale. The parameters of the general MSSM are reduced by assuming a degeneracy of the sfermions of the first two generations with the same quantum numbers. We also assume no mass-splitting between neutral and charged Higgsinos. We do allow for separate soft breaking terms for the third generation sfermons. We consider all possible resulting $14! \approx 9 \cdot10^{10}$ relevant mass orderings and check for the dominant decay cascades and the corresponding collider signatures. In determining the dominant decay modes we assume that mixing between sparticles is sub-dominant. As preferred signatures, we consider charged leptons, missing transverse momentum, jets, and $W, Z$ or Higgs bosons. We include also the cases of bi- and trilinear R-parity violation and show that specific signatures can be used to distinguish the different scenarios., Comment: 18 pages, 14 tables. v2: Minor changes to improve readability of the results

The origin of R-parity in supersymmetric models can be explained if \BL is part of the gauge group. We discuss the mass spectrum of the minimal $U(1)_Y \times U(1)_{B-L}$ model based on a GUT implementation using CMSSM-like boundary conditions. Here we focus in particular on the Higgs and neutralino sectors in this class of models. While the neutralinos can have masses as low as 100 GeV, we show that the requirement of being consistent with existing bounds on the $Z'$ implies that in general the sfermions have masses in the multi-TeV range. In the extended Higgs sector we show the existence of a second light state which, however, will be difficult to observe, while having at the same time a SM-like Higgs in a mass range of 123-126 GeV.. Moreover, we propose a set of benchmark scenarios for phenomenological studies. On the technical side we demonstrate that gauge kinetic mixing effects can be quite important, affecting in particular the Higgs and the neutralino sectors. Supersymmetric models with bilinear R-parity violation (BRPV) can account for the observed neutrino masses and mixing parameters indicated by neutrino oscillation data. We consider minimal supergravity versions of BRPV where the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) is a neutralino. This is unstable, with a large enough decay length to be detected at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We perform a study of the dark matter candidates of a constrained version of the minimal R-parity-conserving supersymmetric model with a gauged $U(1)_{B-L}$. It turns out that there are four additional candidates for dark matter in comparison to the MSSM: two kinds of neutralino, which either correspond to the gaugino of the $U(1)_{B-L}$ or to a fermionic bilepton, as well as "right-handed" CP-even and -odd sneutrinos. The correct dark matter relic density of the neutralinos can be obtained due to different mechanisms including new co-annihilation regions and resonances. The large additional Yukawa couplings required to break the $U(1)_{B-L}$ radiatively often lead to large annihilation cross sections for the sneutrinos. The correct treatment of gauge kinetic mixing is crucial to the success of some scenarios. Left-right symmetric extensions of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model can explain neutrino data and have potentially interesting phenomenology beyond that found in minimal SUSY seesaw models. Here we study a SUSY model in which the left-right symmetry is broken by triplets at a high scale, but significantly below the GUT scale. Sparticle spectra in this model differ from the usual constrained MSSM expectations and these changes affect the relic abundance of the lightest neutralino. We discuss changes for the standard stau (and stop) co-annihilation, the Higgs funnel and the focus point regions. The model has potentially large lepton flavour violation in both, left and right, scalar leptons and thus allows, in principle, also for flavoured co-annihilation. We also discuss lepton flavour signals due to violating decays of the second lightest neutralino at the LHC, which can be as large as 20 fb$^{-1}$ at $\sqrt{s}=14$ TeV., Comment: 32 pages; 18 figures; v2: discussion of Focus point included

We perform global fits to the parameters of the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) and to a variant with non-universal Higgs masses (NUHM1). In addition to constraints from low-energy precision observables and the cosmological dark matter density, we take into account the LHC exclusions from searches in jets plus missing transverse energy signatures with about 5\,fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We also include the most recent upper bound on the branching ratio $B_s\to\mu\mu$ from LHCb. Furthermore, constraints from and implications for direct and indirect dark matter searches are discussed. The best fit of the CMSSM prefers a light Higgs boson just above the experimentally excluded mass. We find that the description of the low-energy observables, $(g-2)_{\mu}$ in particular, and the non-observation of SUSY at the LHC become more and more incompatible within the CMSSM. A potential SM-like Higgs boson with mass around 126 GeV can barely be accommodated. Values for ${\cal B}(B_s\to\mu\mu)$ just around the Standard Model prediction are naturally expected in the best fit region. The most-preferred region is not yet affected by limits on direct WIMP searches, but the next generation of experiments will probe this region. We discuss neutrino masses from higher than d=5 effective operators in a supersymmetric framework, where we explicitly demonstrate which operators could be the leading contribution to neutrino mass in the MSSM and NMSSM. As an example, we focus on the d=7 operator L L H_u H_u H_d H_u, for which we systematically derive all tree-level decompositions. We argue that many of these lead to a linear or inverse see-saw scenario with two extra neutral fermions, where the lepton number violating term is naturally suppressed by a heavy mass scale when the extra mediators are integrated out. We choose one example, for which we discuss possible implementations of the neutrino flavor structure. In addition, we show that the heavy mediators, in this case SU(2) doublet fermions, may indeed be observable at the LHC, since they can be produced by Drell-Yan processes and lead to displaced vertices when they decay. However, the direct observation of lepton number violating processes is on the edge at LHC.

It is well known that in the MSSM the lightest neutral Higgs h^0 must be, at the tree level, lighter than the Z boson and that the loop corrections shift this stringent upper bound up to about 130 GeV. Extending the MSSM gauge group in a suitable way, the new Higgs sector dynamics can push the tree-level mass of h^0 well above the tree-level MSSM limit if it couples to the new gauge sector. This effect is further pronounced at the loop level and h^0 masses in the 140 GeV ballpark can be reached easily. We exemplify this for a sample setting with a low-scale U(1)_R x U(1)_B-L gauge symmetry in which neutrino masses can be implemented via the inverse seesaw mechanism., 14 pages, 3 figures; references added, typos corrected; published version

We study a supersymmetric version of the seesaw mechanism type III. The model consists of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model particle content plus three copies of $\mathbf{24}$ superfields. The fermionic part of the $SU(2)$ triplet contained in the $\mathbf{24}$ is responsible for the type-III seesaw, which is used to explain the observed neutrino masses and mixings. Complete copies of $\mathbf{24}$ are introduced to maintain gauge coupling unification. These additional states change the beta functions of the gauge couplings above the seesaw scale. Using minimal Supergravity boundary conditions, we calculate the resulting supersymmetric mass spectra at the electroweak scale using full 2-loop renormalization group equations. We show that the resulting spectrum can be quite different compared to the usual minimal Supergravity spectrum. We discuss how this might be used to obtain information on the seesaw scale from mass measurements. Constraints on the model space due to limits on lepton flavour violating decays are discussed. The main constraints come from the bounds on $\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}e\ensuremath{\gamma}$ but there are also regions where the decay $\ensuremath{\tau}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ gives stronger constraints. We also calculate the regions allowed by the dark matter constraint. For the sake of completeness, we compare our results with those for the supersymmetric seesaw type II and, to some extent, with type I.

We study the effect of squark generation mixing on gluino production and decays at LHC in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) for the case that the gluino is lighter than all squarks and dominantly decays into three particles, $gl -> q qbar neut_k, gl -> q qbar' char_l$. We assume mixing between the second and the third squark generations in the up-type and down-type squark sectors. We show that this mixing can lead to very large branching ratios of the quark-flavour violating gluino three-body decays despite the strong constraints on quark-flavour violation (QFV) from the experimental data on B mesons. We also show that the QFV gluino decay branching ratios are very sensitive not only to the generation mixing in the squark sector, but also to the parameters of the neutralino and chargino sectors. We show that the branching ratio of the QFV gluino decay $gl -> c tbar (cbar t) neut_1$ can go up to ~ 40%. Analogously, that of the QFV decay $gl -> s bbar (sbar b) neut_1$ can reach ~35%. We find that the rates of the resulting QFV signatures, such as $pp -> t t cbar cbar E_T^mis$, can be significant at LHC. We describe recent extensions of the program SPheno including flavour aspects, CP-phases, R-parity violation and low energy observables. In case of flavour mixing all masses of supersymmetric particles are calculated including the complete flavour structure and all possible CP-phases at the 1-loop level. We give details on implemented seesaw models, low energy observables and the corresponding extension of the SUSY Les Houches Accord. We study the effect of squark generation mixing on squark production and decays at LHC in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). We show that the effect can be very large despite the very strong constraints on quark flavour violation (QFV) from experimental data on B mesons. We find that the two lightest up-type squarks su_{1,2} can have large branching ratios for the decays into 'c-quark + neutralino_1' and 't-quark + neutralino_1' at the same time due to squark generation mixing, leading to QFV signals 'pp -> c bar{t} (t bar{c}) + missing-E_T + X' with a significant rate. The observation of this remarkable signature would provide a powerful test of supersymmetric QFV at LHC. In supersymmetric models neutrino data can be explained by R-parity violating operators which violate lepton number by one unit. The so called bilinear model can account for the observed neutrino data and predicts at the same time several decay properties of the lightest supersymmetric particle. In this paper we discuss the expected precision to determine these parameters by combining neutrino and LHC data and discuss the most important observables. We show that one can expect a rather accurate determination of the underlying R-parity parameters assuming mSUGRA relations between the R-parity conserving ones and discuss briefly also the general MSSM as well as the expected accuracies in case of a prospective e+ e- linear collider. An important observation is that several parameters can only be determined up to relative signs or more generally relative phases., Comment: 13 pages, 13 figures

We study the phenomenology of a supersymmetric left-right model, assuming minimal supergravity boundary conditions. Both left-right and (B-L) symmetries are broken at an energy scale close to, but significantly below the GUT scale. Neutrino data is explained via a seesaw mechanism. We calculate the RGEs for superpotential and soft parameters complete at 2-loop order. At low energies lepton flavour violation (LFV) and small, but potentially measurable mass splittings in the charged scalar lepton sector appear, due to the RGE running. Different from the supersymmetric “pure seesaw” models, both, LFV and slepton mass splittings, occur not only in the left-but also in the right slepton sector. Especially, ratios of LFV slepton decays, such as Br((tau) over bar (R) -> μchi(0)(1))/Br((tau) over bar (L) -> μchi(0)(1)) are sensitive to the ratio of (B-L) and left-right symmetry breaking scales. Also the model predicts a polarization asymmetry of the outgoing positrons in the decay mu(+) -> e(+)gamma, A similar to [0, 1], which differs from the pure seesaw “prediction” A = 1. The lightest supersymmetric particle may decay with branching ratios that correlate with neutrino oscillation parameters. In this case the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has the potential to probe the atmospheric neutrino mixing angle with sensitivity competitive to its low-energy determination by underground experiments. We present the electroweak spectrum for the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model at the one-loop level, e. g. the masses of Higgs bosons, sleptons, charginos and neutralinos. For the numerical evaluation we present a mSUGRA variant with non-universal Higgs mass parameters squared and we compare our results with existing ones in the literature. We investigate couplings of squarks to gauge and Higgs-bosons within the framework of non-minimal flavour violation in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. Introducing non-diagonal elements in the mass matrices of squarks, we first study their impact on the self-energies and physical mass eigenvalues of squarks. We then present an extensive analysis of bosonic squark decays for variations of the flavour-violating parameters around the two benchmark scenarios SPS1a' and SPS1b. Signatures, that would be characteristic for a non-minimal flavour structure in the squark sector, can be found in wide regions of the parameter space., We thank T. These include the nature of electroweak symmetry breaking, the origin of mass, the possible constituent of cold dark matter, new sources of CP violation needed to explain the baryon excess in the universe, the possible existence of extra gauge groups and extra matter, and importantly the path Nature chooses to resolve the hierarchy problem - is it supersymmetry or extra dimensions. Many models of new physics beyond the standard model contain a hidden sector which can be probed at the LHC. Additionally, the LHC will be a. top factory and accurate measurements of the properties of the top and its rare decays will provide a window to new physics. Further, the LHC could shed light on the origin of neutralino masses if the new physics associated with their generation lies in the TeV region. Finally, the LHC is also a laboratory to test the hypothesis of TeV scale strings and D brane models. An overview of these possibilities is presented in the spirit that it will serve as a companion to the Technical Design Reports (TDRs) by the particle detector groups ATLAS and CMS to facilitate the test of the new theoretical ideas at the LHC. The identification of the correct model for physics beyond the Standard Model requires the determination of the spin of new particles. We investigate to which extent the spin of a new particle X can be identified in scenarios where it decays dominantly in three-body decays X -> f (f) over barY. Here we assume that Y is a candidate for dark matter and escapes direct detection at a high energy collider such as the LHC. We show that in the case that all intermediate particles are heavy, one can get information on the spins of X and Y at the LHC by exploiting the invariant mass distribution of the two standard model fermions. We develop a model-independent strategy to determine the spins without prior knowledge of the unknown couplings and test it in a series of Monte Carlo studies., We thank R. We present the complete electroweak one-loop corrections to the partial widths for two-body decays of a chargino (neutralino) into a W-boson and a neutralino (chargino). We perform the calculation for the minimal and the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model using an on-shell renormalization scheme. Particular attention is paid to the question of gauge invariance which is achieved using the so-called pinch technique. Furthermore we show that these corrections show a strong parameter dependence and usually are in the range of 1-10 percent if the neutralino involved is a higgsino or wino like state. However, in case of a bino-like or a singlino-like neutralino the corrections can go up to 50% and more. In order to satisfy current FCNC and CP violation bounds, SUSY flavour structures cannot be generic. An interesting solution to these SUSY Flavour and CP Problems lies on the use of an SU(3) family symmetry which spontaneously breaks CP symmetry. Typical observables of such a model are electric dipole moments and LFV processes. In addition, these models can give contributions to CP violation in neutral meson mixing. We show how the latter can be used to restrict the allowed SUSY parameter space, and induce correlations between LFV and EDM predictions., 4 pages, 4 figures; to appear in the proceedings of "The 2009 Europhysics Conference on High Energy Physics", 16-22 July 2009, Krakow, Poland

We study gluino decays in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with squark generation mixing. We show that the effect of this mixing on the gluino decay branching ratios can be very large in a significant part of the MSSM parameter space despite the very strong experimental constraints on quark flavour violation (QFV) from B meson observables. Especially we find that under favourable conditions the branching ratio of the QFV gluino decay (g) over tilde -> c (t) over tilde)((c) over tildet)(chi) over tilde (0)(1) can be as large as similar to 50%. We also find that the squark generation mixing can result in a multiple-edge (3- or 4-edge) structure in the charm-top quark invariant mass distribution. The appearance of this remarkable structure provides an additional powerful test of supersymmetric QFV at LHC. These could have an important impact on the search for gluinos and the determination of the MSSM parameters at LHC. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. We consider scenarios with large flavour violating entries in the squark mass matrices focusing on the mixing between second and third generation squarks. These entries govern both, flavour violating low energy observables on the one hand and squark and gluino decays on the other hand. We first discuss the constraints on the parameter space due to the recent data on B mesons from the B factories and Tevatron. We then consider flavour violating squark and gluino decays and show that they can still be typically of order 10% despite the stringent constraints from low energy data. We calculate the theoretically allowed range for the branching ratios of Majoron-emitting charged lepton decays, such as Br(mu -> eJ) and Br(mu -> eJ gamma), in a supersymmetric model with spontaneous breaking of R-parity. Br(mu -> eJ) is maximal in the same region of parameter space for which the lightest neutralino decays mainly invisibly. A measurement of Br(mu -> eJ) thus potentially provides information on R-parity violation complementary to accelerator searches. We calculate the relic density of the lightest neutralino in a supersymmetric seesaw type-II (``triplet seesaw'') model with minimal supergravity boundary conditions at the grand unified theory (GUT) scale. The presence of a triplet below the GUT scale, required to explain measured neutrino data in this setup, leads to a characteristic deformation of the sparticle spectrum with respect to the pure minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) expectations, affecting the calculated relic dark matter (DM) density. We discuss how the DM allowed regions in the $({m}_{0},{M}_{1/2})$ plane change as a function of the (type-II) seesaw scale. We also compare the constraints imposed on the models parameter space form upper limits on lepton flavor violating decays to those imposed by DM. Finally, we briefly comment on uncertainties in the calculation of the relic neutralino density due to uncertainties in the measured top and bottom masses.

We focus on the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) phenomenology, studying the reach of generic supersymmetry search channels with leptons, missing energy and jets. A special feature of this model is the existence of long-lived neutralinos and charginos which decay inside the detector leading to detached vertices. We demonstrate that the largest reach is obtained in the displaced vertices channel and that practically all of the reasonable parameter space will be covered with an integrated luminosity of 10fb-1. The most general supersymmetric seesaw mechanism has too many parameters to be predictive and thus can not be excluded by any measurements of lepton flavour violating (LFV) processes. We focus on the simplest version of the type-I seesaw mechanism assuming minimal supergravity boundary conditions. We compute branching ratios for the LFV scalar tau decays, ${\tilde \tau}_2 \to (e,\mu) + \chi^0_1$, as well as loop-induced LFV decays at low energy, such as $l_i \to l_j + \gamma$ and $l_i \to 3 l_j$, exploring their sensitivity to the unknown seesaw parameters. We find some simple, extreme scenarios for the unknown right-handed parameters, where ratios of LFV branching ratios correlate with neutrino oscillation parameters. We study the collider phenomenology of bilinear R-parity violating supergravity, the simplest effective model for supersymmetric neutrino masses accounting for the current neutrino oscillation data. At the CERN Large Hadron Collider the center-of-mass energy will be high enough to probe directly these models through the search for the superpartners of the Standard Model (SM) particles. We analyze the impact of R-parity violation on the canonical supersymmetry searches - that is, we examine how the decay of the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) via bilinear R-parity violating interactions degrades the average expected missing momentum of the reactions and show how this diminishes the reach in the 'usual' channels for supersymmetry searches. However, the R-parity violating interactions lead to an enhancement of the final states containing isolated same-sign di-leptons and trileptons, compensating the reach loss in the fully inclusive channel. We show how the searches for displaced vertices associated to LSP decay substantially increase the coverage in supergravity parameter space, giving the corresponding reaches for two reference luminosities of 10 and 100 fb$^{-1}$ and compare with those of the R-parity conserving minimal supergravity model., Corrected version. We study the supersymmetric version of the type-II seesaw mechanism assuming minimal supergravity boundary conditions. We calculate branching ratios for lepton flavor violating (LFV) scalar tau decays, potentially observable at the LHC, as well as LFV decays at low energy, such as l{sub i}{yields}l{sub j}+{gamma}, and compare their sensitivity to the unknown seesaw parameters. In the minimal case of only one triplet coupling to the standard model lepton doublets, ratios of LFV branching ratios can be related unambiguously to neutrino oscillation parameters. We also discuss how measurements of soft SUSY breaking parameters at the LHC can be used to indirectly extract information of the seesaw scale.
