Abstract

The thesis is described into 5 chapters:Chapter 1 is general abstract.In chapter 2, dibenzo-24-crown-8 (DB24C8)-bearing copolymers were synthesized by radical copolymerization using a DB24C8-carrying acrylamide derivative, acrylamide and N-isopropylacrylamide monomers. The cloud points of the resulting copolymers changed in aqueous solution in the presence of Cs+. In addition, the 1H NMR signals of DB24C8-bearing copolymers were more shifted following the addition of Cs+ compared to Rb+, K+, Na+, and Li+ ions due to recognition of the Cs+ ion by DB24C8. These findings suggest that DB24C8-bearing polymers hold promise for adsorbing and removing cesium from the environment.In chapter 3, polymer gels containing DB24C8 moieties were synthesized by radical copolymerization of a DB24C8-containing monomer and acrylamide in the presence of a cross-linker. The synthesized polymer gels containing DB24C8 moieties can effectively remove Cs+ from an aqueous environment without nonspecific adsorption in a selective manner, according to competition tests performed in the presence of Na+ and K+. These results imply that DB24C8-containing polymer gels hold promise for selective cesium removal from aqueous environments and will have contribution for treating radioactive wastes.In chapter 4, chemical modification of chitosan with DB24C8 moieties was attempted by three methods, i.e., the reactions of DB24C8 having a COOH group with either 1-(3-Dimethylaminopropyl)-3-ethylcarbodiimide hydro- chloride (EDC)-1-hydroxybenzotriazole (HOBt) or EDC-N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) and the reaction using the succinimide-activated ester of DB24C8, were compared on chitosan. The use of the activated ester of DB24C8 resulted in a higher degree of substitution (15.2%) at amino groups on chitosan when compared with the EDC-HOBt or EDC-NHS systems. This result implies that the use of activated ester derivatives is efficient for the modification of chitosan in aqueous solution.Chapter 5 is general conclusion.

Abstract

Objective To explore whether occlusion site affects success rate, methods of recanalization, perioperative complications, and prognosis of the recanalization in chronic internal carotid artery occlusion (CICAO). Methods Thirty - nine patients diagnosed as CICAO from January 2017 to January 2020, and treated by endovascular recanalization were retrospectively reviewed. Baseline information, endovascular procedures, complications, clinical and angiographic prognosis were collected. Effects of occlusion site were analyzed. Results Thirty patients (76.92% ) achieved successful endovascular recanalization. Successful recanalization rates varied among groups with different occlusion sites of extracranial short segment (CI, CI-C2 or CI-C3), medium segment (CI-C4), long segment (CI-C5 or CI-C6) and intracranial short segment (C6 or C6-C7), were 9/11, 8/10, 9/14 and 4/4, respectively. Sole angioplasty with balloon was applied in 7 patients (23.33%), sole stenting in 15 (50%), angioplasty with balloon and stents in 8 (26.67%). Among different occlusion sites of extracranial short, medium, long segment, and intracranial short segment, sole angioplasty with balloon was applied in 0/9, 1/8, 3/9 and 3/4, respectively; while sole stenting was applied in 9/9, 4/8, 1/9 and 1/4, showing a gradually increasing trend. Procedure-related complications were not related with occlusion site. One patient (33.33%) died, while 29 surviving patients during a median clinical follow-up of 16 (4, 27) months with successful recanalization, but one (3.45%) developed ipsilateral minor stroke due to restenosis. With a median angiographic follow-up of 5.50 (3.50, 8.00) months, 2 restenosis and 3 reoclusion were found in 21 patients, all of which came from medium and long segment occlusion. Conclusions Endovascular recanalization is feasible and effective in CICAO with relatively low procedure - related complications. However, success rate of recanalization decreases in groups of long segment occlusion. Application of angioplasty methods differs in groups with varying occlusion sites. Procedure - related complications seems relatively low. While, restenosis and re-occlusion are mostly found in long segment occlusion site. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Objective To investigate predictive risk factors of in-stent restenosis after proximal vertebral artery (VA) stenting. Methods One hundred and fifteen patients-received balloon - expandable stent assisted - angioplasty for symptomatic proximal VA stenosis between January 2007 and June 2017, and underwent CTA or DSA follow-up were included. The predictive risk factors of restenosis after proximal VA stenting were investigated via univariate and multivariate forward Logistic regression analysis. Results One hundred and fifty - five patients were treated with 178 balloon - expandable stents, the restenosis rate was 30.90% (55/178). Univariate and multivariate forward Logistic regression analysis found that coexist of basilar artery stenosis (OR = 4.468, 95% CI: 1.685-11.849; P = 0.003) and smaller stent diameter (OR = 5.126, 95% CI: 1.748-15.033; P = 0.003) were risk factors of restenosis. Conclusions Coexist of basilar artery stenosis and smaller stent diameter were risk factors of in - stent restenosis after proximal VA stentintg. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
