BackgroundAn electrolyte waste salt containing LiCl and various products is generated during the pyroprocessing of spent nuclear fuel in metal fast reactors. Separating metal impurities from waste salt can purify molten salt, facilitate salt recycling, and reduce the amount of waste salt, achieving waste minimization.PurposeThis study aims to investigate the effects of key factors on the application of the cold finger crystallization method used for removal of Sr and Ba from molten LiCl salt.MethodsA homemade cold finger experimental apparatus was applied to the experimental removal of two alkaline earth metals, Sr and Ba, from molten LiCl salt, and Fluent software was employed to simulate the application of cold finger crystallization equipment during dry reprocessing. The effects of crystal growth time, initial crystallization temperature, and initial SrCl2/BaCl2 concentrations on the removal ratio of the crystalline salt during the process were analyzed.ResultsThe initial temperature of molten salt is a critical factor that influences cold finger separation efficiency. When the initial temperature reaches 660 ℃, the removal efficiency improves. Moreover, when the impurity contents of Sr and Ba in molten salt are lower than 0.55%(w/w), the removal efficiency of the cold finger crystallization method can exceed 80%. Further analysis shows that the removal effects of different parts of molten salt crystals differ. The solvent salt at the top of the molten salt crystal is better, and the removal ratio of the bottom and inner salts is lower. Therefore, the optimal conditions for removing Sr and Ba from LiCl crystalline salt require an initial temperatures of 660~670 ℃, an airflow intensity of 10 L·min-1, and a growth time of 20 min. Under these optimal conditions, the removal ratio can reach 90%.ConclusionsThe proposed approach is feasible for purifying solvent salts from electrolyte waste molten salt via cold finger crystallization. This study provides a reference for purifying waste salt and reusing molten salt.

Background: The occurrence of stroke in young people has risen significantly. This can easily lead to physical disabilities, swallowing difficulties, and cognitive impairment, among other issues, having a profound impact on families and society. Risk factors for stroke in young people differ from those for traditional stroke, with cannabis abuse emerging as a significant high-risk factor. However, the extent of the impact of cannabis abuse on the occurrence of stroke and the rate of disability in young people remains unclear. To clarify this issue and provide evidence supporting the primary prevention of stroke in young people, this systematic review and meta-analysis summarizes the latest findings from previous studies. Methods: A systematic search of PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases was conducted until April 2023. The review included observational studies comparing stroke risk estimates between cannabis abusers and non-users. Results: This review included six observational studies focusing on cannabis abuse, involving 119,284,152 participants. A significant association was found between cannabis abuse and an increased risk of stroke [OR = 1.14, 95% CI (1.08, 1.20)]. However, there was substantial heterogeneity among the studies (I 2 = 89%, p < 0.001). After adjusting for confounders such as smoking and alcohol abuse, we found a stronger association between cannabis abuse and stroke in young adults [OR = 1.21, 95% CI (1.12, 1.29)]. Subgroup analyses revealed no significant difference in stroke risk between ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes (p = 0.43). Conclusion: The results of our systematic review and meta-analysis showed that cannabis abuse has a more significant effect on the occurrence of stroke in young people; however, it was not possible to distinguish whether cannabis abuse is more likely to cause ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke. Further research is needed to explore the impact of different drug types, dosages, and behaviors on stroke risk. A catalyst‐based switchable regioselective C−H activation/annulation of acrylamides with propargyl carbonates has been developed, delivering C5 or C6 alkenyl substituted 2‐pyridones. This robust protocol proceeds with a broad substrate scope and good functional group tolerance under redox‐neutral reaction conditions. More significantly, this reaction is highly effective with previously challenging unsymmetrical alkynes, including unbiased alkyl‐alkyl substituted alkynes, with perfect and switchable regioselectivity. Radiated tumor cell‐derived extracellular vesicles (RT‐EVs) encapsulate abundant DNA fragments from irradiated tumor cells, in addition to acting as integrators of multiple tumor antigens. Accumulating evidence indicates these DNA fragments from damaged cells are involved in downstream immune responses, but most of them are degraded in cells before incorporation into derived RT‐EVs, thus the low abundance of DNA fragments limits immune responses of RT‐EVs. Here, this study found that different radiations affected fates of DNA fragments in RT‐EVs. Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) induced DNA accumulation in RT‐EVs (BEVs) by causing more DNA breaks and DNA oxidation resisting nuclease degradation. This is attributed to the high‐linear energy transfer (LET) properties of alpha particles from the neutron capture reaction of 10B. When being internalized by dendritic cells (DCs), BEVs activated the DNA sensing pathway, resulting in functional enhancements including antigen presentation, migration capacity, and cytokine secretion. After vaccination of the BEVs‐educated DCs (BEV@BMDCs), the effector T cells significantly expanded and infiltrated into tumors, suggesting robust anti‐tumor immune activation. BEV@BMDCs not only effectively inhibited the primary tumor growth and metastasis formation but also elicited long‐term immune memory. Migrasome is a newly discovered organelle composed of small vesicular structures enclosed in membrane structures. Since its discovery in 2014, migrasome has attracted increasing attention in cell biology due to its critical role in multiple disease processes. Its pivotal role in various disease processes, including cell migration, intercellular communication, removal of damaged mitochondria, embryogenesis localization, immune cell chemotaxis, and virus transmission, underscores its significance in biological systems. With research on migrasome steadily increasing, it becomes a unique resource for undergraduate cell biology education. For deeper understanding of migrasome, we applied a bibliometric approach. Here we conducted a comprehensive analysis of migrasome research by retrieving relevant literature from databases such as Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed using the keywords "migrasome" or "migrasomes." Employing CiteSpace software and Prism, we analyzed annual publication trends, identified core authors and institutions, assessed national contributions, examined keywords, and scrutinized highly cited literature related to migrasome research. This study presents a comprehensive overview of migrasome research, elucidating its literature characteristics, key contributors, research hotspots, and emerging trends. By shedding light on the current status and future trajectories of migrasome research, we aim to provide valuable insights for teachers in cell biology education. We propose for the integration of migrasome research into undergraduate curricula to enhance the understanding of cell biology among premedical, medical, and biomedical students, thereby fostering a deeper appreciation for the intricate mechanisms governing cellular behavior and disease processes.
