ABSTRACT Aims Design Methods Results Conclusion Implications for the Profession Patient or Public Contribution To explore the impact of psychological empowerment on nurses' intent to stay in military hospitals as well as the mediating effects of the practice environment and burnout in this context.This study employed a cross‐sectional survey approach and followed the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) guidelines for reporting.A total of 1225 nurses from nine military hospitals were recruited via convenience sampling. Questionnaires were distributed and collected via the Questionnaire Star platform. The study variables, including psychological empowerment, the practice environment, burnout and intent to stay, were assessed via self‐report questionnaires. SPSS 23.0 software was used to conduct descriptive and correlation analyses. Additionally, PROCESS Model 6 was employed to examine the mediating effects.Psychological empowerment is positively associated with nurses' intent to stay. Mediation analysis revealed that the practice environment, burnout and the chain mediating effect of the practice environment and burnout accounted for 54.5%, 2.8% and 1.5% of the total effect respectively.Psychological empowerment affects nurses' intent to stay not only directly but also indirectly via the practice environment and burnout.Nursing managers may consider utilising psychological empowerment as a management strategy to enhance nurses' perceived practice environment, reduce burnout and ultimately increase nurses' intent to stay. This approach has the potential to lower turnover rates among nurses.Questionnaires completed by nurses were used to explore the relationships among psychological empowerment, the practice environment, burnout and intent to stay in this context. Loess is strongly sensitive to water, and its properties are substantially affected by weathering and other factors. Loess landslides, which are widely distributed in Ili, are closely related to seasonal freeze-thaw effects. In this study, multiple freeze-thaw cycle tests were conducted on loess samples with different moisture contents from the Ili region, and triaxial shear tests were conducted to study mechanical characteristics of the loess. Variations in the microstructure of the loess samples were analysed using scanning electron microscopy images to reveal the underlying mechanisms. The results showed that the freeze-thaw cycles significantly influence failure mode of the stress-strain curve of loess samples with a lower moisture content of 10%, which transitioned from strain softening to strain hardening with six cycles as the turning point, whereas the stress-strain curve transitioned from strong to weak hardening for the loess samples with higher moisture content of 18%. As the number of freeze-thaw cycles increased, failure strength and shear strength parameters of loess gradually decreased, and tended to stabilize after the 10th cycle. In addition, strength parameters deterioration is most significant after the first cycle, and the degree of cohesion deterioration was much greater than that of internal friction angle. Cohesion and internal friction angle showed attenuation exponential function and polynomial function relationship, respectively, with the number of freeze-thaw cycles, and their fitting parameters underwent a sudden change with increasing moisture content, with 14% as the turning point. Microscopic SEM revealed that the number of overhead pores increased, and point-to-point contact between particles increased after freeze-thaw, which was consistent with increase in of loess porosity. Peritumoral hepatocytes are critical components of the liver cancer microenvironment, However, the role of peritumoral hepatocytes in the local tumor immune interface and the underlying molecular mechanisms have not been elucidated. YTHDF2, an RNA N6-methyladenosine (m6A) reader, is critical for liver tumor progression. The function and regulatory roles of YTHDF2 in peritumoral hepatocytes are unknown. This study demonstrated that oxaliplatin (OXA) upregulated m6A modification and YTHDF2 expression in hepatocytes. Studies using tumor-bearing liver-specific Ythdf2 knockout mice revealed that hepatocyte YTHDF2 suppresses liver tumor growth through CD8+ T cell recruitment and activation. Additionally, YTHDF2 mediated the response to immunotherapy. Mechanistically, OXA upregulated YTHDF2 expression by activating the cGAS-STING signaling pathway and consequently enhanced the therapeutic outcomes of immunotherapeutic interventions. Ythdf2 stabilized Cx3cl1 transcripts in an m6A-dependent manner, regulating the interplay between CD8+ T cells and the progression of liver malignancies. Thus, this study elucidated the novel role of hepatocyte YTHDF2, which promotes therapy-induced antitumor immune responses in the liver. Drought stress is a major meteorological threat to crop growth and yield. Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) is a vital cereal crop with strong drought tolerance worldwide. However, the underlying growth properties and metabolomic regulatory module of drought tolerance remains less known. Here, we investigated the plant height, spike length, effective tiller, biomass, average spikelets, 1000-grain weight, number of seeds per plant, grain weight per plant, ash content, protein content, starch content, cellulose content, and metabolomic regulation mechanisms of drought stress in barley. Our results revealed that the growth properties were different between ZDM5430 and IL-12 under drought stress at different growth stages. We found that a total of 12,235 metabolites were identified in two barley genotype root samples with drought treatment. More than 50% of these metabolites showed significant differences between the ZDM5430 and IL-12 roots. The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis identified 368 differential metabolites mainly involved in starch and sucrose metabolism, the pentose phosphate pathway, pyrimidine metabolism, phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan biosynthesis in ZDM5430 under drought stress, whereas the different metabolites of IL-12 under drought stress related to starch and sucrose metabolism, the pentose phosphate pathway, 2-oxocarboxylic acid metabolism, cutin, suberine and wax biosynthesis, carbon metabolism, fatty acid biosynthesis, and C5-branched dibasic acid metabolism. These metabolites have application in the tricarboxylic cycle, the urea cycle, the met salvage pathway, amino acid metabolism, unsaturated fatty acid biosynthesis, phenolic metabolism, and glycolysis. On the other hand, the expression patterns of 13 genes related to the abovementioned bioprocesses in different barley genotypes roots were proposed. These findings afford an overview for the understanding of barley roots' metabolic changes in the drought defense mechanism by revealing the differently accumulated compounds. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Wide‐bandgap (WBG) perovskite solar cell (PSC) plays a pivotal role as the top subcell in all‐perovskite tandem solar cells (TSCs), facilitating the absorption of high‐energy photons and affording a large open‐circuit voltage (VOC). Nonetheless, the stability and efficiency of WBG PSCs are constrained by light‐induced halide segregation and non‐radiative recombination losses. In this study, this work presents an approach of utilizing 2‐methylpiperazinium bromide (2‐MePBr) via interfacial engineering to realize high‐efficiency WBG (1.77 eV) PSCs. The C─NH─C functional group in 2‐MePBr, serving as an electron donor, can interact with under‐coordinated lead defects at the perovskite surface. Consequently, the treatment with 2‐MePBr mitigates interfacial non‐radiative recombination, enhances charge transport, inhibits ion migration, and thus delivers an improved power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 19.30% with a VOC of 1.29 V, and a fill factor of 83.08%. Notably, the WBG PSCs manifest enhanced stability, preserving 80% of the initial PCE after 337 h of continuous operation under 1 sun illumination at the maximum power point. Furthermore, the all‐perovskite TSCs based on this WBG subcell achieve a PCE of 27.47%, showing its promising application in perovskite‐based tandem solar cells. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Halophyte Halogeton glomeratus mostly grows in saline desert areas in arid and semi‐arid regions and is able to adapt to adverse conditions such as salinity and drought. Earlier transcriptomic studies revealed activation of the HgS2 gene in the leaf of H. glomeratus seedlings when exposed to saline conditions. To identify the properties of HgS2 in H. glomeratus, we used yeast transformation and overexpression in Arabidopsis. Yeast cells genetically transformed with HgS2 exhibited K+ uptake and Na+ efflux compared with control (empty vector). Stable overexpression of HgS2 in Arabidopsis improved its resistance to salt stress and led to a notable rise in seed germination in salinity conditions compared to the wild type (WT). Transgenic Arabidopsis regulated ion homeostasis in plant cells by increasing Na+ absorption and decreasing K+ efflux in leaves, while reducing Na+ absorption and K+ efflux in roots. In addition, overexpression of HgS2 altered transcription levels of stress response genes and regulated different metabolic pathways in roots and leaves of Arabidopsis. Airy beams exhibit intriguing properties such as nonspreading, self-bending, and self-healing and have attracted considerable recent interest because of their many potential applications in photonics, such as to beam focusing, light-sheet microscopy, and biomedical imaging. However, previous approaches to generate Airy beams using photonic structures have suffered from severe chromatic problems arising from strong frequency dispersion of the scatterers. Here, we design and fabricate a metasurface composed of silicon posts for the frequency range 0.4–0.8 THz in transmission mode, and we experimentally demonstrate achromatic Airy beams exhibiting autofocusing properties. We further show numerically that a generated achromatic Airy-beam-based metalens exhibits self-healing properties that are immune to scattering by particles and that it also possesses a larger depth of focus than a traditional metalens. Our results pave the way to the realization of flat photonic devices for applications to noninvasive biomedical imaging and light-sheet microscopy, and we provide a numerical demonstration of a device protocol.
