Keban Dam Reservoir (KDR), located on the Euphrates River (Turkey), is an internationally important reservoir. In this study, levels of ten metals in 220 muscle samples of five fish species (mangar, common carp, Tigris scraper, Euphrates barbell and trout barb) taken from 11 sampling sites in the KDR were determined and compared with the results of previous studies carried out in other countries and Turkey. In addition, multiple approaches were used to assess human health risks from fish consumption. The significant spatial differences in concentrations of studied metals except As and Ni in Euphrates barbell were not found. However, concentrations of all metals except Cd showed significant seasonal differences. The concentrations of ten metals in fish species were lower than or comparable to those in fish species from other freshwater bodies. The metal concentrations in all fish species were found below the maximum permissible concentrations. No health risks of studied heavy metals on human were found by daily fish intake. The target hazard quotient (THQ) and total THQ values were below 1, which suggests there are no significant non-carcinogenic health risks for fish consumers. The cancer risk values calculated for inorganic arsenic in all fish species except Euphrates barbell did not exceed the 10-6 threshold. The allowable number of fish meals per month can be categorized as safe fish consumption. The results of this study revealed that the consumption of the examined fish species does not pose a significant risk to human health. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Phytoplankton samples were collected from four different water bodies in the Tigris River basin in 2008. Nine Euglenophyceae taxa at specific and infraspecific level are reported for the first time on Turkish freshwater algal flora. New records come from six sampling sites in the study area. These taxa consist of one Euglena Ehrenberg (E. sociabilis), two Strombomonas Deflandre (S. planctonica and S. pascheriana), four Trachelomonas Ehrenberg (T. nigra, T. aspera, T. borodiniana and T. scabra var. labiata) and two Phacus Dujardin (P. inflexus and P. ovalis). Identification keys and general information on the morphology and taxonomy of the species are briefly described in this paper, with original illustrations.

Despite the fact that planktonic algae are a critical component of freshwater ecosystems, our understanding of their diversity and species distributions is still rather poor. This study contributes new information to the knowledge of Turkish freshwater microflora. A total of 84 phytoplankton samples were collected from 7 sites in the Tigris River from February 2008 to January 2009. Four taxa representing new records for the freshwater algal flora of Turkey were identified from the river. They belong to the following phyla: 1 (Oscillatoria nitida) to Cyanobacteria, 2 (Micractinium bornhemiense and Lagerheimia wratislaviensis) to Chlorophyta and 1 (Audouinella chalybaea) to Rhodophyta., Planktonik algler, tatlısu ekosistemlerinin önemli bir bileşeni olmasına rağmen, onların çeşitliliği ve tür dağılımları hakkındaki bilgimiz hala oldukça zayıftır. Bu çalışma, Türkiye’nin tatlısu mikroflora bilgisine katkıda bulunmaktadır. Şubat 2008 – Ocak 2009 tarihleri arasında Dicle Nehri’nde 7 siteden toplam 84 fitoplankton örneği toplandı. The freshwater fauna of testate amoebae of Turkey are practically unknown. In this study, we report the first records of freshwater testate amoebae in Turkey. Three species of the testate amoebae were found in the Tigris River.

We report the first record of the order Choanoflagellida in the waters of Turkey. The choanoflagellate Salpingoeca amphoridium James-Clark was found in plankton net samples in November and December 2008, and January 2009 from the Batman Dam Lake, the Batman Stream and Hasankeyf sampling site of the Tigris River. Salpingoeca amphoridium was found attached to planktonic diatom Aulacoseria granulata (Ehrenberg) Simonsen.

Bu çalışmada Kralkızı, Dicle ve Batman baraj gölleri ve Dicle Nehri'nin su kalitesi, fitoplankton kompozisyonu ve yoğunluğundaki değişimler Şubat 2008-Ocak 2009 tarihleri arasında incelenmiştir. Kralkızı Baraj Gölü fitoplankton topluluğunda 8 divizyoya mensup 48 takson, Dicle Baraj Gölü fitoplankton topluluğunda 8 divizyoya mensup 64 takson, Batman Baraj Gölü fitoplankton topluluğunda 8 divizyoya mensup 60 takson ve Dicle Nehri fitoplankton topluluğunda 9 divizyoya mensup 390 takson tespit edilmiştir. Kralkızı, Dicle ve Batman baraj gölleri ve Dicle Nehri fitoplankton topluluğunda Bacillariophyta, Chlorophyta ve Cyanophyta divizyoları, tür sayıları ve birey yoğunlukları bakımından baskın gruplar olarak belirlenmiştir.Kralkızı, Dicle ve Batman baraj göllerinde çalışma süresince baskın olan fitoplankton türlerine ve bunlara ait fonksiyonel grupların habitat özelliklerine göre, Kralkızı ve Dicle baraj göllerinin trofik durumları bakımından oligotrofik-mezotrofik yapıda olduğu, Batman Baraj Gölü'nün ise mezotrofik-ötrofik yapıda olduğu belirlenmiştir.Ortalama seki diski derinliği, toplam azot, toplam fosfor ve klorofil a ve trofik durum indeks (TSI) değerlerine göre Kralkızı, Dicle ve Batman baraj göllerinin trofik durumları bakımından mezotrofik sınıfa girdikleri tespit edilmiştir.Ortalama toplam azot ve toplam fosfor değerlerine göre Dicle Nehri'nin trofik durumu bakımından mezotrofik-ötrofik yapıda olduğu, ortalama klorofil a değerlerine göre ise oligotrofik-mezotrofik yapıda olduğu belirlenmiştir.Kralkızı, Dicle ve Batman baraj göllerinin su kalitesini tehdit eden önemli kirletici kaynaklara rastlanmamasına karşın, Dicle Nehri'nin evsel atık sulardan dolayı Diyarbakır, Bismil ve Cizre'de ciddi bir kirlilikle karşı karşıya olduğu gözlenmiştir. In this study, variations in density and composition of phytoplankton and water quality of Kralkızı, Dicle and Batman dam lakes and the Tigris River were investigated between February 2008 and January 2009. 48 taxa belonging to 8 algal divisio in the phytoplankton of Kralkızı Dam Lake, 64 taxa belonging to 8 algal divisio in the phytoplankton of Dicle Dam Lake, 60 taxa belonging to 8 algal divisio in the phytoplankton of Batman Dam Lake and 390 taxa belonging to 9 algal divisio in the phytoplankton of the Tigris River were determined. Members of Bacillariophyta, Chlorophyta and Cyanophyta constituted the dominant groups in terms of both species number and individual abundance in the phytoplankton of Kralkızı, Dicle and Batman dam lakes and Tigris River.Phytoplankton species and habitat characteristics of functional groups belonging to these species showed that Kralkızı and Dicle dam lakes had oligotrophic-mesotrophic conditions, while Batman Dam Lake had mesotrophic-eutrophic conditions.Trophic status of Kralkızı, Dicle and Batman dam lakes was mesotrophic according to mean values of secchi disc depth, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, chlorophyll a and trophic state index (TSI).Trophic status of the Tigris River was mesotrophic-eutrophic conditions according to mean values of total nitrogen and total phosphorus, while it was oligotrophic-mesotrophic conditions according to chlorophyll a.It was observed that although there weren?t important pollutant sources threatening water quality of Kralkızı, Dicle and Batman dam lakes, the Tigris River faced a serious pollution in Diyarbakır, Bismil and Cizre because of domestic sewage. 315

Bu araştırmada, Kahramanmaraş'taki balık halinden menşei belirli deniz ve tatlısu balıklarından oluşan 10 farklı balık türünden (sazan (Cyprinus carpio), gökkuşağı alabalığı (Oncorhynchus mykiss), ıskarmoz (Sphyraena sphyraena), levrek (Dicentrarchus labrax), hamsi (Engraulis encrasicolus), istavrit (Trachurus mediterraneus), çipura (Sparus aurata), kupes (Boops boops), Atlantik salmonu (Salmo salar) ve barbun (Mullus barbatus)) 5'er adet satın alınarak, örneklerin kas dokusunda 11 elementin (Al, As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb ve Zn) konsantrasyonları belirlenmiştir. Çalışmada elde edilen bulgulara göre, en yüksek ortalama Al (1,45 mg/kg) konsantrasyonu çipurada, en yüksek ortalama As (50,34 mg/kg) konsantrasyonu barbunda, en yüksek ortalama Cd (0,0078 mg/kg) konsantrasyonu gökkuşağı alabalığında, en yüksek ortalama Co (0,1 mg/kg) konsantrasyonu istavritte, en yüksek ortalama Cr (0,076 mg/kg), Cu (0,9 mg/kg), Fe (21,36 mg/kg), Mn (2,023 mg/kg) ve Zn (48,84 mg/kg) konsantrasyonu hamside, en yüksek ortalama Ni (0,234 mg/kg) konsantrasyonu sazanda, en yüksek ortalama Pb (0,107 mg/kg) konsantrasyonu ise Atlantik salmonunda tesbit edilmiştir.Ayrıca bu çalışmada balık türlerinde belirlenen metal düzeyleri ile ilgili olarak insan sağlığı risk tayin metotları kullanılmıştır. Bunun için metallerin tahmini günlük alım (EDI) değerleri hesaplanarak, tolere edilebilir günlük alım (TDI) değerleri veya referans doz değerleri (RfD) ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Metallerin kanser dışı sağlık risklerini belirlemek için hedef tehlike katsayısı (THQ) ve tehlike indeksi (HI) değerleri hesaplanmıştır. Ayrıca kanser eğim faktörü kullanılarak inorganik arsenik için kanser riski (CR) hesaplanmıştır. İncelenen balık türlerinin yenilmesi sonucu insan vücuduna giren 11 metale ait EDI değerlerinin TDI veya RfD değerlerini geçmediği belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca balık türlerinde belirlenen metallerin THQ ve HI değerleri eşik değer olan 1'den düşük bulunmuştur. Bu durum, kanser dışı sağlık risklerinin olmadığını göstermektedir. Barbun hariç diğer balık türlerine ait CR değerleri kabul edilebilir aralıkta bulunmuştur. Dolayısıyla CR sonuçlarına göre, barbun balığının tüketilmesi sonucu inorganik arseniğe maruz kalan insanların kansere yakalanma riski bulunmaktadır. In this study, 10 different fish species (carp (Cyprinus carpio), rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), European barracuda (Sphyraena sphyraena), European seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax), European anchovy (Engraulis encrasicolus), Mediterranean horse mackerel (Trachurus mediterraneus), gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata), bogue (Boops boops), Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) and red mullet (Mullus barbatus)) were purchased at the fish market of Kahramanmaraş. For each species, five samples were collected and the concentrations of 11 elements (Al, As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn) were determined in muscle tissue of fish samples. In this study, human health risk assessment methods were used in relation to metal levels determined in fish species. For this, estimated daily intake (EDI) values of metals were calculated and compared with tolerable daily intake (TDI) values or reference dose values (RfD). The target hazard quotient (THQ) and hazard index (HI) values were calculated to determine the non-cancer health risks of metals. Cancer risk (CR) was also calculated for inorganic arsenic by using cancer slope factor. The EDI values of the 11 metals entering the human body from ingestion of the fish species examined were determined not to exceed the TDI or RfD values. In addition, the THQ and HI values of the metals determined in fish species were lower than the threshold value of 1. This shows that there are no health risks for non-cancer. CR values for all fish species except red mullet were found within the acceptable range. Therefore, according to CR results, people who are exposed to inorganic arsenic as a result of consumption of red mullet are at risk of developing cancer. 51

Bu araştırma, Karakaya Baraj Gölünde yetiştiriciliği yapılan gökkuşağı alabalığı kasında ağır metal birikimini tespit etmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu amaçla gökkuşağı alabalıkları Kasım 2014- Nisan 2015 tarihleri arasında 3 farklı istasyondan temin edilmiştir. Ağır metal analizlerinde AAS cihazı kullanılmıştır. Karakaya Baraj Gölü’nden alınan alabalık örneklerin kas dokusunda birikim yapan As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb ve Zn elementlerinin ortalama düzeyleri sırasıyla; 73,7 ±15,03 μg/kg, 0,516±0,44 μg/kg, 0,527±0,08 mg/kg, 0,745±0,11 mg/kg, 0,385±0,07 mg/kg, 7,140±2,57 mg/kg, 0,746±0,10 mg/kg, 1,039±0,21 mg/kg, 53,3±5,63 μg/kg ve 3,387±0,86 mg/kg olarak hesaplanmıştır. Ortalama değerlere göre Fe, Zn ve Ni elementlerinin üç istasyonda da en yüksek konsantrasyonlara sahip olduğu, Cd, Pb ve As elementlerinin ise en düşük konsantrasyonlara sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen veriler, Dünya Sağlık Örgütü (WHO), Gıda ve Tarım Örgütü (FAO) ve Türk Gıda Kodeksi tarafından belirlenen balıklarda ağır metaller için kabul edilebilir değerler ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Bu çalışmada, Keban Baraj Gölü'nde yetiştiriciliği yapılan gökkuşağı alabalığının kas dokusunda bazı ağır metallerin (As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb ve Zn) birikim düzeylerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla gökkuşağı alabalıkları Kasım 2014- Nisan 2015 arasında 3 farklı istasyondan temin edilmiştir. Atomik absorpsiyon spektrometre ile yapılan analiz sonuçlarına göre, alabalık örneklerindeki ortalama As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb ve Zn konsantrasyonları sırasıyla 101,9±27,2 µg/kg, 0,82±0,44 µg/kg, 0,432±0,18 mg/kg, 0,808±0,13 mg/kg, 0,365±0,09 mg/kg, 6,16±1,65 mg/kg, 1,134±0,34 mg/kg, 1,101±0,16 mg/kg, 59,8±8,63 µg/kg ve 4,353±1,63 mg/kg olarak belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen veriler, Dünya Sağlık Örgütü (WHO), Gıda ve Tarım Örgütü (FAO) ve Türk Gıda Kodeksi tarafından belirlenen balıklarda ağır metaller için kabul edilebilir değerler ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, Keban Baraj Gölü'nde yetiştirilen alabalıkların, insanlar tarafından tüketilmesinin sağlık açısından herhangi bir risk oluşturmadığı bulunmuştur. This study was carried out to determine some heavy metal (As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn) accumulation in muscle tissue of cultured rainbow trout in Keban Dam Lake. For this purpose, rainbow trout were obtained from three is used for heavy metal analysis. As a result, the Keban Dam Lake trout are bred, it was found that any creation of health for human consumption. 49
