Falls among older adults are a major health issue. Cognitive impairment is known to be an independent risk factor for falls with around 60% of people with cognitive impairment falling each year. Presbycusis is also associated increased risk of falls in older adults. The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between hearing loss and balance in subjects with cognitive disorders. Pure tone air and bone conduction thresholds, speech recognition thresholds and discrimination were measured. The Sensory Organization Test (SOT) and Adaptation Test (ADT) were performed. Subjects with mild hearing loss has the highest scores on SOT and composite scores while subjects with severe hearing loss has worst scores. There was no statistically significant difference between groups on ADT scores. Hearing loss and cognitive disorders are independent risk factors for impaired balance among older adults with cognitive decline. Learners in asynchronous discussion forums are inundated with diverse options when it comes to interaction. This enables the embodiment of various styles of participation. On the other hand, the affective domain tends to be overlooked in the online discussion context. The modeling of discussion activities based on both cognitive and affective indicators constitutes this study's unique aspect. In the study, the impact of social anxiety and participation styles on active participation in discussions were investigated using three-factor social anxiety and four-factor participation style models. In addition, the impact of active participation on academic achievement was also examined. Path analysis was used to explain the predictive correlation among these indicators. Students' participation behaviors in discussions during a three-week implementation were analyzed within the scope of a course taught during the COVID-19 pandemic period. The findings showed that social anxiety and participation styles had a significant impact on active participation, which, in turn, significantly affected academic achievement. Background: Although the importance of the therapeutic alliance in the treatment process and health outcomes is recognized, so far, there has been no evaluation in the Peruvian context that considers possible individual differences that could influence this assessment.Purpose: This study assessed the psychometric properties of the WAI-S-P in a sample of individuals from Peru who are receiving psychological therapy. Furthermore, a network analysis was conducted to investigate the direct relationships between the therapeutic alliance and several relevant sociodemographic variables.Methods: The short version of the Working Alliance Inventory was used in a sample of 241 participants (Mage=32.58, SD=12.67) that had attended less than 6 sessions. Three models were considered, including a three-factor and a two-factor correlated model, as well as a bifactor model. In addition, a network of partial associations was created including the overall therapeutic alliance, sex, age, and number of psychotherapeutic sessions.Results: The bifactor model, with an overall therapeutic alliance factor and two specific factors ("contact" and "contract"), better fit the data. Invariance of the structure by sex and age showed equitable measurement. On the other hand, network analysis revealed a positive correlation between total session attendance and therapeutic alliance. Men reported higher therapeutic alliance, while women had higher total session attendance.Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that the therapeutic alliance is better represented by a bifactor model and demonstrates invariance across sex and age in Peruvian adults. Additionally, findings indicate that differences in life experiences and the sex of patients may need to be verified in future studies to better understand nuanced needs in forming therapeutic alliances at least in the early stages of session attendance. The research focused on digital learning environments has identified various challenges for learners, such as technical problems, lack of community, motivation, self-regulation, self-efficacy, and social anxiety. Social anxiety is conceptualized as an emotional disorder that may impede achievement in higher education. The project reported here investigates N = 666 students' social anxiety in digital learning environments at four higher education institutions located in Australia, Germany, Latvia, and Turkey. This range of contexts allowed the research to cover a wide variety of cultural and institutional idiosyncrasies. Findings revealed different levels of social anxiety in higher education digital learning environments across countries and their cultural contexts. In addition, gender plays a significant role in social anxiety for peer interactions with female students reporting higher social anxiety than male students. The findings suggest that it is worth tertiary educators pausing to consider social anxiety's role in reducing interactions within digital learning environments. Objective: This study aimed to research whether there is an olfactory disorder in ADHD, and if so, what is the effect of methylphenidate on this condition. Method: This is a cross-sectional study aiming to evaluate olfactory threshold, identification, discrimination and threshold, discrimination, and identification (TDI) scores in 109 children and adolescents, 33 of whom have ADHD without medication, 29 with ADHD with medication and 47 control groups. Result: In the post hoc tests, the mean odor discrimination test, the mean odor identification test, and the mean TDI scores of the unmedicated ADHD group were significantly lower than those of the other two groups, and that the mean odor threshold test scores of the medicated ADHD group were significantly lower than those of the control and unmedicated groups. Conclusion: Olfactory function could be a useful tool to monitor treatment effects and may be a promising candidate as a biomarker in ADHD. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Cognitive problems in idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) is generally overlooked in the presence of disabling headache and threat to visual function. The aim of this study was to search for cognitive deficits in patients with IIH using neuropsychologic tests in addition to P300 potential recordings to assess cognition related brain activity., Methods: Fifty IIH patients were examined using Montreal Cognitive Assessment Test, Stroop Test and Visual Aural Digit Span Test to measure different domains of cognition at the time of diagnosis. P300 potentials were recorded by using an oddball paradigm. Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale was used to determine anxiety and depression. Quality of life (QoL) was assessed by SF-36. The results were compared with fifty healthy controls with matching age, gender and body mass index., Results: Neuropsychologic tests revealed wide cognitive impairment including attention, working memory, executive function, naming, language, delayed recall and orientation in IIH patients. In addition, quality of life was affected in the sub-parameters of general health perceptions, emotional role functioning, vitality, mental health and bodily pain. P300 potential latencies were long and the amplitudes were reduced indicating deficits in attention and working memory. Anxiety scores were high, and health-related QoL was low mainly involving vitality, emotional and mental health. Cognitive dysfunction was not correlated with the levels of anxiety and the correlation with headache severity was mild., Conclusion: A multidomain cognitive decline mainly involving attention and working memory was recorded in IIH patients. It was not correlated with anxiety and only a mild correlation with headache severity was present which may indicate a casual relationship between raised intracranial pressure and cognitive deficits. This study aimed to systematically review the measures used to assess infant self‐regulation during the first 12 months of life. This systematic review was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analysis statement protocol. From 235 selected papers, 79 provided information on behavioural and physiological measures to assess infant self‐regulation during the first 12 months of life. Thirty‐six behavioural (30 observational and 6 parent‐report) and five physiological different measures were identified. Studies with a longitudinal design, comprising larger samples, and aiming to assess infant self‐regulation later in infancy, mostly used behavioural measures than physiological measures. Studies comprising lower samples and aiming to assess infant self‐regulation earlier in infancy, mostly used observational than parent‐reported measures. Studies targeting younger infants used physiological measures and studies targeting older infants used behavioural measures, with observational measures used with younger infants and parental‐reported measures used with older infants during the first year of life. The present study aims to standardize the Bender-Gestalt II Test by exploring its psychometric properties on a Turkish sample between the ages of 4 and 17 years and to obtain its normative values. The standardization sample consisted of 2691 students aged 4.0–17.11 years/months from low, middle, and high socioeconomic statuses, attending preschool, primary, and high school education. The participants were administered the Bender-Gestalt II Test and other tests, including the Gesell Developmental Schedules test, Colored Progressive Matrices Test, Goodenough Draw-a-Man Test, Test of Nonverbal Intelligence, Raven Standard Progressive Matrices Test, and Visual-Aural Digit Span Test-Revised Form, according to their age groups. The results revealed the absolute agreement values of the Copy items to be between.87 and.98. Thereafter, we calculated the test-retest reliability coefficients of the Copy scores to range from.74 to.67 by age groups, while the split-half reliability coefficients for each age group were between.62 and.87. The results of the exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses suggested its single-factor structure for all age groups. The Copy scores showed significant correlations and predicted the criterion characteristics, which include general cognitive ability, mental development/fine motor skills, short-term memory, and attention. Overall, the present study confirmed that the Bender-Gestalt II Test is a valid, reliable, and standardized measure to evaluate the visual-motor integration ability of those aged 4.0–17.11 years/months. In this study, the factors affecting the transactional distance levels of university students who continue their courses with distance education in the 2020–2021 academic years due to the Covid pandemic process were examined. Factors that affect transactional distance are modeled with Artificial Neural Networks, one of the data mining methods. Research data were collected from a total of 1638 students, 546 males and 1092 females, studying at various universities in Turkey, by using the personal information form, the Transactional Distance Scale and the Social Anxiety Scale in E-Learning Environments. Students' transactional distance levels were included in the model as dependent variable and social anxiety and 17 variables, which were thought to be theoretically related to transactional distance, were included in the model as independent variables. The research data were analyzed using Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) Artificial Neural Networks and Radial Based Functions (RBF) Artificial Neural Networks methods. In addition, these methods are compared in terms of estimation performance. According to the results of the research, it has been seen that the MLP method predicts the model with lower errors than the RBF method. For this reason, the results of the MLP were taken into account in the study. As a result of the analyzes carried out with this method, quickness of the instructor to give feedback on messages is determined as the most effective variable on the transactional distance. Background: Specific learning disorder (SLD) is a common neurodevelopmental disorder in childhood with a delay in reading, writing, and/or mathematics. The etiology of SLD is not known exactly. Aim: In our study, we aimed to evaluate the effect of inflammation in the etiology of SLD. Materials and Methods: In our study, patients aged 7-14 years who applied to the child psychiatry outpatient clinic between November 2019 and November 2020 were retrospectively screened. The hemoglobin (Hb), red cell distribution width (RDW), platelet (PLT), plateletcrit (PCT), platelet distribution width (PDW), and white blood cell (WBC) values of the children were recorded. Neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and PLR values were calculated. Comparisons were carried out on different variables using SPSS version 22. Results: There was no significant difference in terms of age and gender in the SLD and control groups. When blood parameters were evaluated, there was no significant difference between the groups in terms of Hb, RDW, PCT, PDW, and WBC values. The PLT count was significantly higher in the patient group than in the control group (P = 0.049). There was no significant difference between the groups in terms of TLR and NLR values. Conclusion: The results of our study showed that Hb, RDW, PCT, PDW, WBC, NLR, and TLR values were similar in SLD and healthy control groups. This does not support the hypothesis that an increased inflammatory response may be responsible for the etiology of SLD. In this study, we measured the levels of depression and cognition in people recovering from COVID-19. Moreover, we aimed to investigate the relationship between depression and cognition levels by measuring homocysteine concentrations. It included 62 people recovering from COVID-19 (at least 3 months after positive RT-PCR) and 64 people without COVID-19 (control group). At first, the homocysteine levels of participants were measured. Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) were performed to collect data. Homocysteine levels of the group recovering from COVID-19 (x− = 19.065 µmol/L) were higher than the control group (x− = 11.313 µmol/L). There was no significant difference between the groups for BDI scores. The MoCA scores of the group recovering from COVID-19 (x− = 20.774) were lower than the control group (x− = 24.297). There was a negative high (r = –0.705, p < 0.001) correlation between homocysteine levels and MoCA scores. Linear regression analysis is shown to be significant, and the MoCA explanatory value of the variables in the model is 58.6% (p < 0.0001). A 1 µmol/L observed increase in homocysteine level constituted a risk for a 0.765-point decrease in MOCA scores. In patients recovering from COVID-19, early interventions to high homocysteine levels may prevent cognitive impairments that may persist in the long term. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The present study aims to determine the social anxiety levels of prospective teachers in e-learning environments. The research adopts the cross-sectional survey model. The study group consists of 506 pre-service teachers through a convenience sampling technique from a state university in northern Turkey during the fall semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. The data are collected online through the "Social Anxiety Scale for E-Learning Environments" in the spring semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. The study found that teacher candidates have a moderate level of social anxiety in e-learning environments which unfavorably affects academic achievement. Moreover, it is concluded that gender is not directly affecting social anxiety in e-learning environments, but the grade level is influential on social anxiety. There is a positive correlation between prospective teachers' self-efficacy in using computers and their social anxiety levels in e-learning environments. This study has revealed new empirical results on the reflections of social anxiety in e-learning environments. The terms developmental epileptic encephalopathy with spike-and-wave activation in sleep (DEE-SWAS) and epileptic encephalopathy with spike-and-wave activation in sleep (EE-SWAS) designate a spectrum of conditions that are typified by different combinations of motor, cognitive, language, and behavioral regression linked to robust spike-and-wave activity during sleep. In this study, we aimed at describing the clinical and molecular findings in "(developmental) epileptic encephalopathy with spike-and-wave activation in sleep" (D)EE-SWAS) patients as well as at contributing to the genetic etiologic spectrum of (D)EE-SWAS. Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array and whole-exome sequencing (WES) techniques were used to determine the underlying genetic etiologies. Of the 24 patients included in the study, 8 (33%) were female and 16 (67%) were male. The median age at onset of the first seizure was 4 years and the median age at diagnosis of (D)EE-SWAS was 5 years. Of the 24 cases included in the study, 13 were compatible with the clinical diagnosis of DEE-SWAS and 11 were compatible with the clinical diagnosis of EE-SWAS. Abnormal perinatal history was present in four cases (17%), and two cases (8%) had a family history of epilepsy. Approximately two-thirds (63%) of all patients had abnormalities detected on brain computerized tomography/magnetic resonance (CT/MR) imaging. After SNP array and WES analysis, the genetic etiology was revealed in 7 out of 24 (29%) cases. Three of the variants detected were novel (SLC12A5, DLG4, SLC9A6). This study revealed for the first time that Smith-Magenis syndrome, SCN8A-related DEE type 13 and SLC12A5 gene variation are involved in the genetic etiology of (D)EE-SWAS. (D)EE-SWAS is a genetically diverse disorder with underlying copy number variations and single-gene abnormalities. In the current investigation, rare novel variations in genes known to be related to (D)EE-SWAS and not previously reported genes to be related to (D)EE-SWAS were discovered, adding to the molecular genetic spectrum. Ostracized individuals face a series of negative situations and feel social anxiety during their interactions with others. However, individuals with social anxiety may not share their knowledge because of the discomfort they experience in interactions. The aim of this study is to examine the mediating role of social anxiety in learner-learner interaction in terms of the relationship between cyberostracism and knowledge sharing in e-learning environments. A total of 268 pre-service teachers participated in the study. The study determined the relationship between the variables with Pearson's correlation coefficients and used a regression-based mediation test to examine the mediator model. It found that cyberostracism was positively related to social anxiety in learner-learner interactions in e-learning environments and negatively associated with knowledge sharing. There was also a negative relationship between social anxiety and knowledge sharing. Moreover, cyberostracism predicted knowledge sharing in e-learning environments. Finally, we determined that social anxiety in learner-learner interactions was the full mediator in the relationship between cyberostracism and knowledge sharing. Therefore, it can be argued that cyberostracism is not a direct predictor of pre-service teachers' knowledge sharing behavior in e-learning environments and pre-service teachers avoid knowledge sharing due to social anxiety caused by cyberostracism. The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of pre-service teachers' readiness for online learning on their social anxiety in e-learning environments. For this purpose, opinions of 409 students who continue their pedagogical formation education at a university in Turkey were taken, the answers of 369 students were included in the research, and the data of 341 students with standardized scores were analyzed. In the study, readiness for online learning was considered as the independent variable and social anxiety of the pre-service teachers in e-learning environments as the dependent variable, and the data of the dependent and independent variables were obtained from the Online Learning Readiness Scale and the Social Anxiety Scale for E-Learning Environments. In the findings section, correlation analysis was made between the online learning readiness and social anxiety variables in e-learning environments, and then simple linear regression modeling was applied to determine how much the online learning readiness variable had on social anxiety in e-learning environments. As a result of the correlation analysis, a moderate negative significant relationship was found between readiness for online learning and social anxiety in e-learning environments. In addition, with the regression analysis, it was revealed that as the readiness for online learning increased, social anxiety decreased in e-learning environments. Background: The primary objective of this study is to ascertain whether the Expectation Confirmation Model can be expanded by external variables including computer anxiety, social interaction, and self-efficacy to better understand the intention to continue using online learning systems in the post-pandemic era among vocational college students. Moreover, this research argues that the intention to continue using online learning systems among students may be gender-sensitive. Methods: The researchers surveyed 482 students from eight vocational colleges in Jiangxi Province using a structured questionnaire. Partial Least Squares Structural equation modeling is used to verify the research model. Results: The outcomes demonstrate that the proposed model adequately explains the continuous use intention for online learning systems at a 76.6% confidence level. All of the newly introduced variables in the ECM are shown to be significant and relevant to explicate continuous use intention. Our survey results show that gender differences in intention to continue using online learning systems exist objectively, but this difference is not a natural difference. The learning environment usually raises various types of anxiety based on the student's abilities to use technology and their abilities to overcome the negative feelings of an individual being watched all the time and criticized. Hence, learners still feel anxious while using computers and socializing in an e-learning environment. Learners who are faced with computer and AI tools are confused and frustrated. The uneasiness stems from anxiety or uneasiness, which is highly evident in daily interaction with computers and artificial intelligence tools or devices in e-learning contexts. To investigate this phenomenon empirically, a questionnaire was distributed among a group of undergraduate students who are studying different majors. Universities in the Gulf area are among those implementing e-learning systems. In spite of this, recent studies have shown that most students at Gulf universities are still resistant to using online systems; hence, it is necessary to determine the type of anxiety that creates such resistance and their relationship with other external variables such as motivation, satisfaction and self-efficacy. Students would be more likely to use e-learning tools and participate more effectively in their courses using the accessible electronic channels when the degree of anxiety is low. In this study, we have proposed a theoretical framework to investigate the role of social anxiety and computer anxiety in e-learning environments in the Gulf region. Objective: Substance use disorders are associated with significant cognitive impairments causing many individual or social problems besides poor treatment outcomes. The cognitive remediation method is effective in so many neuropsychiatric disorders. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of this method among individuals with opioid use disorder. Method:60 patients diagnosed with opioid use disorder under buprenorphine–naloxone treatment and who accepted the informed consent were included. Seven patients left the study initially. 53 male patients were randomly assigned to receive treatment in the usual control or cognitive remediation–intervention group. The intervention group completed 3 to 4 sessions a week, 8 different exercises in each session, for 4 weeks, a total of 12 sessions, individually. Addiction Profile Indeks, Barrat Impulsivity Scale-SF, CGI, and Delay Discounting scores were measured before and after the 1 month cognitive Remediation practices. Three months later, patients were contacted, and their remission status was evaluated. Results: In the intervention group; 17(89.5%) people had remission and 2(10.5%) people had relapse. In the control group, 7(31.8%) individuals had remission, and 15(68.2%) had relapsed at the end of the 3 months. It was determined that craving, addiction severity, and self-reported and behavioral impulsivity values decreased while the improvement in treatment response was higher in the intervention group. Conclusion: Our results showed that the computer-assisted cognitive remediation method, in addition to buprenorphine–naloxone treatment, improves treatment response, increases remission, and has positive clinical and cognitive effects on individuals with opioid use disorder. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between symptomatology and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, Fourth Edition (WISC-IV) cognitive profiles in Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), taking into account clinical heterogeneity. Method: The WISC-IV was administered to 60 children aged 6 to 13 years with ADHD who had not previously taken psychotropic medication. Conners Teacher-Rating Scale (CTRS-R/L) and Conners Parent-Rating Scale (CPRS-R/L) were completed by parents and teachers. Results: We found a statistically significant positive correlation between the symptoms of hyperactivity/impulsivity and PSI (Processing Speed Index). A statistically significant negative correlation was found between the CTRS-R/L's DSM-IV Inattentive subscale and PRI (Perceptual Reasoning Index). No relationship was found between the inattention or hyperactivity/impulsivity symptomatology with Working Memory Index (WMI). WMI stood out as the most frequently reported weakness among the four index scores. Conclusion: Considering the relationship between the cognitive domains of RDoC (Research Domain Criteria) and dimensions of HiTOP with the ADHD symptom clusters, the assessment of cognitive and behavioral symptoms may be useful for phenotyping ADHD. According to the CHC (Cattell-Horn-Carroll) theory; the positive correlation level between PSI, which is accepted as Gs, and hyperactivity/impulsivity symptoms in people with ADHD may be due to the fact that hyperactivity is one of the narrow cognitive domains of Gps. Introduction: Prospective memory is a robust predictor of functional capacity among older adults. Studies examining prospective memory and aging have suggested that prospective memory deficits are associated with aging. Although the impairment of prospective memory processes is mostly attributed to the impairment of the monitoring process, contradictory findings have been reported in the literature. This study aimed to determine the main factors underlying the negative effects of aging on prospective memory. To this end, we compared the monitoring performances of older and younger adults in time- and event-based prospective memory tasks using the eye-tracking method. Materials and Method: A total of 88 healthy and voluntary participants participated in the experiment. The time- and event-based prospective memory tasks were presented on a computer-screen. Participants were instructed to count the living/non-living objects, and when they saw the prospective memory target on the right corner of the screen, they were asked to press the spacebar on the keyboard. Results: A 2×2 analysis of variance was conducted. We found an agerelated decline in event-and time-based prospective memory. In addition, the aging effect was greater in the time-based prospective Memory task, which requires more executive function than the event-based prospective memory task. The eye-tracking findings suggest that there is no monitoring deficit among older adults in either prospective memory task. Conclusion: We conclude that aging deficits in prospective memory tasks may not be due to monitoring deficits. Instead, executive functions other than monitoring are discussed as possible mechanisms underlying older adults' reduced prospective memory performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study explored the association between flipped learning readiness (FLR), engagement, social anxiety, and achievement in online flipped classrooms among 200 freshman university students enrolled to an information technology course. The relational screening model was applied in order to reveal associations between variables. The study was conducted in two Turkish state universities. The students were sampled using the convenience sampling method. The data collection tools employed were a demographic data form, the Online Student Engagement Scale, the Online Learners' Interactions and Social Anxiety Scale, the FLR scale, and also achievement tests. Structural equational modeling was employed in the testing of the hypothesized model. Results from the structural equation modeling revealed that engagement and FLR were positively associated with student achievement, whilst there was a negative association revealed between social anxiety and achievement in the online flipped classroom. Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) is an important patient-reported outcome. However, HRQOL research in pediatric patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in developing countries is limited. This cross-sectional study involved children with CKD who attended Dr. Sardjito General Hospital between January 2017 and September 2018. In total, 82 child-parent pairs were enrolled. Total HRQOL scores were significantly lower in children with Stages 3a-5 CKD than in children with Stages 1-2 CKD in the child (69.89 vs. 82.12, P = 0.004) and parent questionnaires (72.26 vs. 81.20, P = 0.02). The scores for the physical, school, and social function domains were significantly decreased. This study showed that children with Stages 3a-5 CKD had significantly lower HRQOL scores compared with children in the Stages 1-2 CKD group. Accurate assessment and early identification of gifted children is of great importance in terms of providing them with educational programs tailored for their abilities in specific areas. Individually administered intelligence tests are widely used to identify gifted children, and an above-average level of intellectual capacity is generally accepted as the main criterion for giftedness. This study aimed to investigate the utility of the Turkish version of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Fourth Edition (WISC-IV) to distinguish gifted children from non-gifted children. For this purpose, 201 gifted children and 201 non-gifted children were included in the study. To be able to determine the predictive power of the WISC-IV index and subtest scores, logistic regression analyses were performed. Results indicated that the Perceptual Reasoning Index, Working Memory Index, and Processing Speed Index ​​scores (except Verbal Comprehension Index score), and all subtest scores significantly predicted giftedness. Furthermore, correct classification rates among gifted children were 93% for index scores and 97% for subtest scores. The findings of this study suggest that intelligence scores obtained from the WISC-IV have a diagnostic utility and provide valid and reliable results in identifying gifted children. During the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, over 1.5 billion students worldwide have been deprived of access to traditional learning. This situation has necessitated the use of social distancing-based educational methods; consequently, a tremendous shift towards e-learning has been observed. This study assesses medical students' social anxiety levels in e-learning environments. The study was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, the original Turkish Social Anxiety Scale for E-Learning Environments (SASE) was adapted in English and tested for validity and reliability. This instrument has two subscales: social anxiety in learner-learner interaction and in learner-instructor interaction. In the second stage, we explored the associations of gender, age, and perceived academic performance with medical students' social anxiety levels in e-learning environments. A total of 325 responses were analysed. Consistent with the original version, the adapted scale is a reliable and valid measure of social anxiety in e-learning. Social anxiety in e-learning was related to gender (p = 0.008) and age (p = 0.013). Social anxiety levels were higher in students with lower perceived performance during e-learning compared to students with enhanced performance, but the difference was not significant. The SASE is a useful instrument for evaluating social anxiety in e-learning environments across English educational frameworks. The aim of this correlational survey-based research is to examine the relationships between the attachment styles of children aged 60–72 months and their senses of loneliness and social dissatisfaction. The participants consisted of 103 children of this age who were attending a preschool institution supervised by the Ministry of National Education in Tokat, Turkey. The data was collected through a personal-information form, the Incomplete Stories with Doll Family Scale, and the Loneliness and Dissatisfaction Scale. Data analysis indicated that fewer than two-fifths of these children were securely attached, with nearly half (46.6%) exhibiting avoidant attachment, and the remaining 16.5%, negative attachment. Significant negative correlations were found between secure attachment style, and senses of loneliness and social dissatisfaction. It also revealed that the mean loneliness and social dissatisfaction of those children who had been cared for by their mothers between birth and the age of two were lower than those of their peers who had not been cared for by their mothers at those ages. However, mean loneliness and social dissatisfaction were higher among children whose mothers were aged 20–25 at the time of the survey than among those whose mothers were 26–30. Although trichotillomania (TTM) is classified in the obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD) chapter of the DSM-5, several studies showed that it has several differences. The aim of this study was to examine the phenomenology, comorbidity, and family psychiatric characteristisc of childhood TTM and OCD. This study compared youth ages 6–17 years with a primary diagnosis of TTM (n = 63) to those with primary OCD (n = 65) on clinical and familial psychiatric characteristics. In our study, the findings showed that family history of schizophrenia (42.3%) was higher among patients with TTM than the OCD group, while the history of OCD (55.8%) in the family was significantly higher among the OCD group (p < 0.001). The behaviour of plucking eyebrows was significantly higher among patients with TTM comorbid OCD than patients with only trichotillomania. TTM patients with comorbid OCD had one-dimensional symptom distribution than the presence of the OCD-only group, and the severity of OCD was lower. The incidence of pathological doubting was higher among the TTM group with comorbid OCD, than those with only OCD diagnosis. These findings support significant differences between OCD and TTM. Differences between OCD and TTM may reflect differences in underlying psychobiology, and may necessitate contrasting treatment approaches. We aimed to compare the trichotillomania in itself and in the presence of OCD with the OCD group. Even if OCD accompanied trichotillomania, OCD symptom dimensions and severity were found to be lower than in the OCD-only group. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, most tertiary teaching and learning activities, including hospitality programs, have shifted to online platforms for an extended period. This is probably the first time that hospitality institutions have implemented mandatory synchronous online classes. While this has been deemed the best available solution, various issues and hurdles have hindered the learning process and harmed students' learning experience. Drawing mainly on qualitative data from a large-scale qualitative survey and seven focus group interviews involving 44 students, this study identifies factors that cause students anxiety and frustrate their learning process. These are categorized into interaction barriers, technical barriers, psychological and emotional barriers, perceived learning outcomes, lecturers' experience, class and course administration, and physical discomfort. Introduction: The aim of this study was to determine the developmental stages-specific normative values of Trial Making Test (TMT), Enhanced Cued Recall Test (ECRT) and Clock Drawing Test (CDT) which are commonly used in adults for the evaluation of cognitive functions affected by psychiatric and neurological diseases and developmental disorders for a healthy Turkish sample between 6-18 years of age. Method: A total of 249 primary and secondary school students between 6-18 years of age and living in Ankara and educated in public and/or private schools participated in the study. Primary analysis was conducted by appropriate ANOVA and/or MANOVA for 2 (Developmental Stage: Middle-Late Childhood (6-11 years) and Adolescence (12-18 years)) x 2 (Gender: Female and Male) factorial design. In addition, another group of ANOVA and/or MANOVA analyses for 3 (Adolescence Sub-Stages) x 2 (Gender) was also performed for the adolescence stage that was sub-grouped as early (12-13 years), middle (14-15 years) and late (16+ years). Results: Normative values were determined both for two different developmental stages and for the adolescence sub-stages. Comparisons indicated that main effect of gender and interactions were nonsignificant for all tests. On the other hand, the main effects of the developmental stage and adolescence sub-stages were significant for many of the test scores. Conclusion: As a result of the study, three neuropsychological tests and their normative values for children and adolescents were presented as available for use in future research.
