Abstract Background The COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted the learning experience of students by limiting their opportunities for face-to-face intercultural exchanges. Given the importance of cultural competence in medical education, there is a need to develop a programme that promotes cultural awareness, but that offers more flexibility in terms of outbound mobility. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an internationalization at home programme and to explore the learning experiences of medical and nursing students from Hong Kong and Indonesia. Methods Students were recruited from two universities in Hong Kong and Indonesia. They attended an online internationalization at home programme designed by members of the research team from both countries. A mixed-methods study was conducted using a concurrent triangulation approach. A pre-test post-test design was used to evaluate the effects of the programme on cultural awareness, and four focus groups were conducted to explore the students’ experiences in the programme. Quantitative and qualitative data were analysed by T-test and reflexive thematic analysis, respectively. Data were integrated and triangulated using joint displays by comparing findings from both sources. Results One hundred and forty-eight students from Hong Kong and Indonesia participated in the study. After the programme, there was a significant improvement in cultural awareness. Three themes were identified: (1) learning process: enjoyable, but a desire remains for face-to-face cross-cultural communication; (2) learning outcomes: gained cultural awareness, developed cultural sensitivity, had an opportunity to practice language and learn about new learning styles; (3) factors influencing learning outcomes: facilitators (micro-movie and active communication) and barriers (language barrier, inappropriate time arrangement, insufficient prior briefing). Conclusion This programme achieved the learning outcomes by successfully enhancing the cultural awareness of students during a time of pandemic when outbound student exchanges were not possible. Further adaptations of the programme are required to enhance different learning outcomes.

As scholars and practitioners endeavour to comprehend the intricate interplay between mental health conditions during this unprecedented time, a growing body of research underscores the profound implications of anxiety, stress, and depression on students' educational trajectories. While epidemiological studies have begun to assess the impacts of anxiety, stress, and depression, there is limited literature specifically addressing the effects on medical students in East Asia, particularly in Indonesia. This study aims to analyse the levels of anxiety, stress, depression, and their impact on the academic performance of undergraduate medical students. This study employs a quantitative, observational, and analytical crosssectional design. The sample size is 405 respondents, selected using purposive sampling. Data collection involves the DASS 42 questionnaires. The analysis was conducted using Chi-Square tests and multivariate analysis with SPSS software. The study reveals a significant correlation between anxiety and academic performance, with a p-value < 0.05 (OR=1.815). Stress also affects academic performance, with a p-value < 0.25 (OR=1.757). In addition, depression significantly impacts academic performance with a p-value < 0.05 (OR=2.009). Collectively, anxiety, stress, and depression significantly influence academic performance, with a combined p-value < 0.05 (OR=5.136). Anxiety, stress, and depression significantly affect the academic performance of students. Implementing targeted programs to reduce these mental health issues can enhance students' quality of life and academic success. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The COVID-19 pandemic that occurred in the late of 2019, has significantly impacted various sectors, including health, the economy, and education. Despite extensive research globally, there is limited literature on the psychological effects of the pandemic in East Asia, particularly in Indonesia. This study aimed to investigate the levels of anxiety, depression, and stress among Indonesian communities during the pandemic, and how these conditions relate to demographic characteristics. Utilizing a crosssectional design, the study employed descriptive, bivariate, and multivariate analyses using the DASS 42 questionnaire. The sample comprised 389 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Analysis through SPSS software, including Chi-Square and multivariate logistic regression tests, revealed that the majority of respondents did not experience significant anxiety (53.7%), while 21.7% and 11.9% experienced moderate and mild anxiety, respectively. Depression was absent in 74% of respondents, though 3.6% to 10% reported mild to extreme levels. Stress was reported by 28.3% of respondents, with 1.5% to 13.6% experiencing extremely severe to mild stress. Significant correlations were found between anxiety, depression, and stress with factors such as sex, age, residential area, and occupation. These findings underscore the need for targeted psychological and financial support, along with collaborative programs aimed at addressing economic, health, and educational challenges exacerbated by the pandemic. This study aimed to assess pre-service teachers' knowledge base of teaching and the extent they perceive and reflect its implementation in a microteaching course. Employing mixed-methods design, the study involved pre-service teachers in a state university in Special Territory of Yogyakarta. The quantitative data were collected from a test on the pre-service teachers' understanding of teacher knowledge base of teaching and a survey of their perceptions towards the implementation of teacher knowledge base of teaching in their microteaching practices. The qualitative data were gathered from the pre-service teachers' reflections. The findings showed that despite the overall good test score average of the pre-service teachers' knowledge base of teaching and the generally positive self-rating perceptions, the pre-service teachers' limited and descriptive reflections did not sufficiently depict their actual implementation of teacher knowledge base of teaching in their microteaching practices.

Green mussel (Perna viridis) is a fishery food that is often consumed by the community because the price is relatively affordable. This animal has the potential to be used because it has a large population, but one of the problems in Indonesian waters, especially Kenjeran Beach, is that it contains Pb metal. Consuming green mussels with Pb levels will interfere with body health, so it is necessary to take action to reduce the Pb metal content in green mussels, one of which is using citric acid. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of soaking green mussel meat in citric acid with different concentrations on the reduction of Pb heavy metal levels. This research is a laboratory experimental with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 different treatments of immersion concentration in citric acid (0 , 0.21 , 0.25 and 0.29 M). The results showed that the immersion of green mussel meat in citric acid with concentrations of 0.21 , 0.25 and 0.29 M had a significant effect on the reduction of heavy metal lead (Pb) after immersion in citric acid at a concentration of 0.29 M is 0.1120 ppm, 0.25 M is 0.1167 ppm and 0.21 M is 0.1160 ppm. Soaking green mussels in citric acid with different concentrations did not affect the yield value of green mussel meat.

Background:Putri Malu plants (Mimosa pudica linn) contain flavonoid compounds that are useful as hepatoprotectors. Putri Malu plants extract can be usefull to prevent problem such as Ibuprofen-induced hepatic damage., but study that focus on this topic remain scarce in Indonesia. Objective: To prove the extracted content of the leaves of the Putri Malu plant (Mimosa pudica linn) as a hepatoprotector of hepatic damage in mice (Mus musculus) induced by Ibuprofen. Method: This randomized post-test control group design was conducted at the Experimental Animal Laboratory, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Airlangga. A total of 28 mice were treated with four condition then underwent SGOT and SGPT blood laboratory tests. Results: Group P1 (placebo) had SGOT and SGPT levels averaging 23.87 mg/dl and 13.45 mg/dl, group P2 (ibuprofen dose 7 mg/KgBW) had SGOT and SGPT levels of 29.13 mg/dl and 19.10 mg/dl, group 3 (Putri Malu extract 35 mg/KgBW) had SGOT and SGPT of 24.05 mg/dl and 13.56 mg/dl, and group 4 (ibuprofen dose 7 mg/KgBW and Putri Malu extract of 35 mg/KgBW) showed SGOT and SGPT levels of 28.23 mg/dl and 18.35 mg/dl. The four groups had different mean SGOT and SGPT levels (P 0,000). Conclusion:Leaf extract of the Putri Malu plants (Mimosa pudica linn) has a chemical effect of heaptoprotector as shown by the decrease in SGOT and SGPT level.

Effective non-native English teachers (NNETs) are essential to facilitate students to develop their English mastery. However, while students are directly affected by teachers’ instructions, they have been limitedly involved in teacher education and development research. The current study aims to explore the qualities of effective non-native English teachers (NNETs) from students’ perspectives in Tanjungpinang, Indonesia. This study was mixed-method research specifically an explanatory sequential design. In the quantitative phase, 380 students were selected using cluster sampling techniques. Meanwhile, in the qualitative phase, six students were purposely selected based on their English proficiency levels and gender. The instruments used were a questionnaire adapted from Park and Lee (2006) and an interview guide. To analyze the questionnaire data, descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were employed. MANOVA test was run to seek significant differences by students’ gender and English proficiency levels. Meanwhile, the qualitative data were coded to identify the emerging patterns. The results show that the qualities concerning teachers’ socio-affective skills gained the highest mean scores compared to those concerning teachers’ subject matter knowledge and pedagogical skills. This study also confirms that there was a significant difference among students in perceiving effective NNETs by English proficiency levels. This study is expected to help various stakeholders to improve pre and in-service EFL teacher education and development in Indonesia.

Background and purpose: Plantago major has been applied as a herbal remedy for centuries. However, studies on anti-inflammatory activities and their chemical ingredients are limited. The objective of this study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory properties of P. major in three animal models and its phytochemical contents. Experimental approach: Dichloromethane extract (DCM) of P. major was fractionated with n-hexane to yield the soluble (SHF) and insoluble (IHF) fractions. The anti-inflammatory activities of DCM, SHF, and IHF were evaluated using rat’s paw edema induced by carrageenan, thioglycolate-induced leukocyte emigration in the mice, and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) induced by complete Freund’s adjuvants in rats. The chemical constituents were analyzed using a high-resolution mass spectrometer (HRMS). Findings / Results: The DCM, SHF, and IHF inhibited paw edema in the rats and reduced the leukocyte migration in the mice. At dose 560 mg/kg, the percentage of inhibitory was 47.33%, 55.51%, and 46.61% for the DCM, IHF, and SHF, respectively. In the RA animal model, IHF at 280 and 560 mg/kg reduced osteoclast formation and COX-2 expression compared to diclofenac. Some compounds namely oleic acid, linoleic acid, palmitic acid, and oleamide identified in the DCM, IHF, and SHF may be responsible for these activities. Conclusion and implications: This study showed that P. major has several in-vivo anti-inflammatory activities.

Abstract Hydrothermal modification is a physically safe modification applied in a food product to enhance its functional properties and to extend the starch application in the food industry. Heat Moisture Treatment (HMT) and Annealing (ANN) affect the starch’s functional properties in its crystalline and digestive characteristics. Native starch is modified by HMT with 25% moisture content and 4 hours heating time, by ANN with starch and water ratio of 1:3 (w/w), and 10 hours at 50°C. Modified lesser yam starch by HMT and ANN have different crystalline and digestive characteristics from its native, although the modification do not change its granule morphology. The diffraction pattern of HMT starch is changed from A-type to A+B-type, but not on the ANN starch. Starch content and digestive value decreased, while amylose and resistant starch content increased compared to native starch. Since the past, extension has been seen as a transfer of technology from researchers to farmers. Now the role of extension is seen more as a process of helping farmers to make their own decisions by adding choices for them and helping them develop insights into the consequences of each of these choices. The role of extension workers is clear in bridging and communicating government policies to farmers and business actors who are directly involved in activities to realize food security and independence by utilizing technology and information so that it is easier to get information from various sources that can be accessed using the latest technology and communication equipment. Farmers who tend to master the technological aspect are very dominant seen in those of productive age. The ability to perform good analysis and problem solving is generally often seen in those who tend to be highly educated. In terms of extension activities using information technology media, all farmer groups tend not to have a real role in their members. Almost all farmers have a long experience in farming activities, even though they have quite a lot of knowledge and experience, farmers still need renewable information. While farmers still need additional knowledge and renewable information through information technology media, quite a lot of farmers in Simalungun Regency do not master the aspects of information technology. The majority of farmers stated that extension workers are rarely or sometimes in the field, and extension workers never carry out face-to-face counseling activities or are carried out in the field. Activities with a remote extension model to farmers in Simalungun Regency using information technology media which is very important to support activities. Farmers who tend to master information technology on average have Smartphone communication devices, and farmers who lack technology on average only have ordinary mobile phone devices, which cannot be used to access many functions. The lack of understanding of farmers towards the content of the counseling material presented is enough to explain that the lack of effective extension models for information technology barbasis if the material is presented in the form of visual texts

The ability of forestry extension agents, forestry extension materials to be delivered and the intensity of the extension are classified as effective. In terms of developing farmers ' independence and making extension workers more confident in assisting farmers. effective extension of agroforestry farmers, choosing extension materials must be strictly in accordance with the needs of the target in this case the main actors and agricultural businesses. The development of farmer groups is directed at improving the ability of agroforestry groups in carrying out their functions, namely increasing the ability of members to develop agribusiness. The existence of extension workers is the spearhead in the acceleration of Forestry Development has the skills to invite people to be more advanced and creative. The level of understanding of agroforestry farmers and the number of extension workers is still less effective, because the information and motivation of farmers is still lacking and the number of extension workers is not proportional to the number of farmer groups targeted by extension workers. Self-reliance development of agroforestry farmer groups to be achieved in Bongguron Village, Raya District, Simalungun Regency in order to realize independent and dynamic farmer groups, where farmers have discipline, responsibility and are skilled in cooperation to manage their business activities to increase forestry production, for this reason, a market with a high enough price is needed to market the production in order to restore the costs incurred by farmers in running their farming business and increase farmers ' income by increasing productivity so that it can support the acceleration of Forestry Development.

Abstract Background and Aims This study aims to analyze the relationship between gender, age, occupation, residence, and anxiety in the education environment during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) pandemic. Methods This study used a descriptive‐analytic cross‐sectional design to determine anxiety using the DASS 42 questionnaire given to 181 respondents. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, and the data analysis used was the Chi‐square test and multivariate analysis. Results It was found that 66.7% of teenagers experienced anxiety, while 33.3% of adults experienced anxiety. In addition, the school‐age community (86.2%) experienced higher anxiety compared with the working‐age community (13.8%) who experienced anxiety. Women experienced more significant anxiety (66.7%) compared with men (33.3%). People living on the island of Java (74.7%) have a greater incidence of anxiety compared with people living outside Java (25.3%). Background: Police officers are known for fieldwork shifts, psychological stress, and prolonged physical activity that are associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD). We aim to determine the differences in CVD risks factor and Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP) profiles as a predictor of cardiac events between police officers and civilians in a developing country as an evaluation and strategic preventive measure for CVD. Methods: 978 participants were enrolled as subjects in this cross-sectional study. Data used were obtained during medical check-ups using complete physical and laboratory examinations including blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), total cholesterol, fasting blood sugar, and AIP between 2019 and 2020 at Bhayangkara State Police Hospital Surabaya. Mann-Whitney U test was performed using IBM SPSS version 25. Results: There are significant differences in systolic (p = 0.000) and diastolic blood pressure (p = 0.003), triglycerides (p = 0.000), LDL-C (p = 0.006), total cholesterol (p = 0.000), fasting blood glucose (p = 0.001), and the AIP (p = 0.000) between the police and civilian groups, with the latter showing a tendency of having higher rates. Conclusions: CVD risk was found in both groups. Nevertheless, police officers have higher AIP and overall CVD risk compared to civilians, creating a necessity for aggressive CVD prevention strategies within the population.

Mastitis merupakan radang pada glandula mammae (ambing) ternak perah. Mastitis tipe subklinis sering dikaitkan pada kejadian mastitis di peternakan ruminansia kecil seperti kambing perah (kambing Peranakan Etawah, Saanen, dan Sapera). Patogen utama yang berperan dalam kejadian mastitis ini adalah genus Staphylococcus. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk melakukan identifikasi bakteri Staphylococcus sp. dan Staphylococcus aureus sebagai penyebab mastitis subklinis pada kambing perah dengan menggunakan metode polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Tahapan metode yang dilakukan adalah ekstraksi DNA dengan teknik spin-collumn system terhadap 26 isolat bakteri yang telah dilakukan uji biokimia sebelumnya dan amplifikasi gen spesifik 23s rRNA Staphylococcus sp. dan Staphylococcus aureus, serta methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), dilanjutkan dengan visualisasi menggunakan UV-transluminator. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 12 isolat sampel teridentifikasi Staphylococcus sp. dan 1 diantaranya teridentifikasi Staphylococcus aureus. Isolat yang teridentifikasi Staphylococcus aureus bukan termasuk MRSA.

The aims of research is to find out the analysis of student learning result and interpersonal intelligence through talking chips learning model. The methods of this research is using experiment. The sample used was XI IPA 1 class and XI IPA 2 at SMA N 2 Kudus with sampling technique based on the consideration of the teacher concerned. The data taking is done using validation sheets, cognitive test instruments, observation sheets, student response questionnaires and documentation. The cognitive analysis results of the experimental class 1 pre-test score was 70 and the post-test was 100 while the experimental class 2 the pre-test score was 70 and the post-test was 95. The results of the affective analysis is the highest aspect of the experimental class 1 were aspects of cooperation while for the experimental class 2 is the aspect of curiosity. The indicators of empathetic processing, team building and listening to other owned by the experimental class students are very good, but the indicators for giving feedback and inquiry and questioning are still not enough and need to be improved. It can be concluded that talking chips learning can improve student learning result and interpersonal intelligence and make students more interested and active during the learning process.

Densified wood technology improves the wood properties such as strength, surface hardness, dimensional stability, and durability. However, the utilization of laminated veneer as densified wood which is used as an armor material, and its ability to absorb ballistic energy has not been researched. The strengthening of the Teak Platinum veneer, which was densified with a hot press, used pre-treatment methods such as partial delignification and self-assembly of bacteria cellulose using Acetobacter xylinum. This research used hybrid and non-hybrid panels. The hybrid panel used epoxy adhesive to combine the laminated aramid fabric and 2 types of densified veneer laminated. Two types of densified veneers consist of the densified veneer with and without stabilizing resin. A ballistic test was carried out on each sample at a distance of 5 m using 9 mm Luger ammunition according to NIJ 0108.01. The ballistic energy absorption was analyzed based on the difference between the initial velocity and the residual velocity of the projectile. The initial velocity and the residual velocity were measured by the chronograph. This result showed that the performance of the hybrid panels was lower than the non-hybrid panels at the same thickness. However, the hybrid panels using aramid and veneer ratio of 2:1 (by volume) and the configuring of fully aramid fabric on the inside was the best combination with a ballistic energy absorption of 78.64% at 354.70 J.

Pematangsiantar City is the second largest city in North Sumatra Province and has many potential tourism objects. Tourism is a strategic sector that improves regional development and the welfare of the local community. However, tourism development practices still need to improve, primarily related to implementing comprehensive strategic planning. The study aims to formulate an effective and sustainable tourism development strategy by assessing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to managing local tourism objects. The assessment uses a qualitative approach through SWOT analysis to evaluate the management practices of ten selected tourism objects. Data and information were collected through focus group discussions and in-depth interviews with 60 key respondents. The SWOT analysis results show that the total score of internal factors is superior to external factors. This condition confirms that the development of tourism objects in the future uses an aggressive and competitive strategy. In addition, an assessment of internal conditions reveals that the strengths are less significant than the weaknesses, but the opportunities outweigh the threats. Therefore, the study suggests adaptive strategies to complement aggressive and competitive strategies. The main recommended action strategies are presented in the conclusion. The implications of these results are significant for policymakers, tourism planners, and stakeholders as these findings provide a comprehensive roadmap for improving sustainable tourism development. The carbon content of biomass waste makes it usable as a precursor in the production of activated carbon. The purpose of this work was to investigate the influence of lignocellulosic composition (i.e., lignin, cellulose, hemicellulose) in biomass waste on the microstructure and dye adsorption characteristics of microwave-assisted ZnCl2 activated carbon. Three biomass wastes with significant differences in lignocellulosic composition (i.e., pineapple leaf, cocoa shell, and coconut shell) were used as model substances. Carbonization experiments were conducted at 500 °C for two hours in a muffle furnace while the activation process was carried out at 600 W for 6 min in a microwave oven. The results showed that the composition of hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin in biomass has an effect on the character of activated carbon. It was also found that cellulose is responsible for the formation of porosity so the high cellulose content in the biomass increases the specific surface area of the activated carbon obtained. It is in contrast with lignin which is responsible for the presence of functional groups and pore size. Activation using ZnCl2 coupled with microwave heating creates a template effect, resulting in uniform pores in activated carbon. As a result, the adsorption of dye increases with an increase in the impregnation ratio. The best adsorption ability was found in activated carbon with the highest cellulose content. Under the conditions of pH 3, an adsorption time of 180 min, and an adsorbent dose of 0.3 g per 50 mm−3 dye solution, the adsorption ability of all activated carbons was the best (adsorption rate reached 99% for the initial concentration of methyl violet dye of 100 mg.dm−3). The aim of this study is to investigate the intricate relationship between social support, self-efficacy, physical activity, personality type, and stress levels among university students. This study employed an analytic observational cross-sectional design, and data were collected from 329 respondents using the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scales-42 (DASS-42) questionnaire, the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), General Self-Efficacy Scales (GSES) to measure self-efficacy, International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) to measure physical activity, personality type assessed using the Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI). Purposive sampling was utilized to select samples based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and statistical analyses, including chi-square and logistic regression tests, were conducted to examine the associations between variables. It was found that 41.9% of students experienced stress, while 58.1% did not experience stress. Notably, higher levels of social support and self-efficacy were linked with reduced stress, with 87.4% of students reporting high social support and 83.2% with high self-efficacy remaining stress-free. In contrast, lower levels of these factors were associated with higher stress incidence. Moreover, good physical activity habits were correlated with lower stress levels (73.8%), contrasting with poor physical activity linked to heightened stress (72.5%). In addition, students with introverted personalities demonstrated higher stress rates (72.5%). Importantly, the study identified a significant influence of social support, self-efficacy, physical activity, and personality type on stress levels (p < 0.05). Fostering social support networks, enhancing self-efficacy beliefs, and promoting physical activity are effective to alleviate stress among university students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sharia economics in Indonesia has great potential to develop. However, one of the main challenges in developing Sharia Economics is the limited number of competent Human Resources (HR) in this field. This research aims to determine the relationship between the role of the Indonesian government in increasing the quantity and quality of human resources in the Sharia economy. This research uses a mixed method research method. Data was collected through surveys using questionnaires and literature studies. The data that has been collected is then analyzed using a regression test using the SPSS program. The research results show that there is a significant relationship between the role of the Indonesian Government in increasing the quantity and quality of Sharia Economic Human Resources. The Indonesian Government's efforts to increase the quantity and quality of Sharia Economic Human Resources have shown positive results, but there are still several factors that hamper these efforts. Therefore, it is necessary to make several policy recommendations to increase the effectiveness of the Indonesian Government's role in increasing the quantity and quality of Sharia Economic Human Resources. Background: Insomnia is a frequent clinical sign of various psychopathological disorders and affects millions of people worldwide. Although stress is recognized as the primary factor of insomnia, the relationship between social media and sleep quality among students remains unclear. Such relationships can have significant implications on the public sleep health that clinicians and researchers have to understand better. This study aimed to explore the relationship between stress, social media usage, sleep quality, and insomnia among university students. Methods: This study was conducted through an observational analysis while using a cross-sectional design of the study which was conducted in 2023. Purposive sampling techniques were used to select 311 students as respondents of the study. The questionnaires used were DASS 42 questionnaire, Intensity of Social Media Usage questionnaire, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and Insomnia Severity Index (ISI). This study used Chi-Square analysis to examine the associations between stress, social media activity, sleep quality, and insomnia using SPSS version 26. Results: The average age of the students were ranging from 17 years to 22 years. There was a lack of significant association between stress and insomnia (p = 0.876) and between social media activity and insomnia (p = 0.402). Sleep quality demonstrated a highly significant relationship with insomnia (p < 0.001), highlighting its importance as a contributing factor to insomnia occurrences among university students. Conclusion: These results highlight the importance of improving sleep quality to reduce insomnia among university students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Along with the growing practice of teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in non-English departments of tertiary education, it is essential to investigate the challenges faced by ESP teachers. It can be a basis for proposing policies for the improvement of ESP practice. This study was driven by the fact that ESP classes in non-English departments are allocated limited credit hours, and the teachers are generally General English teachers with no experience and training in teaching ESP. Thus, this study attempted to investigate the fundamental challenges faced by ESP teachers in one state and four private higher education institutions. The data of this qualitative study were obtained through interviews with five ESP teachers. The interview questions were mainly concerned with the knowledgeability and competence in teaching related to subject-specific contexts, adequacy of ESP training, needs analysis, and classroom condition. The findings reveal that the evident challenges encountered by ESP teachers were: lacking knowledge on students’ field of study, lacking of ESP training, lacking of proper needs analysis, large classes, and various learners’ English competencies. The findings of this study suggest that policymakers (stakeholders) should pay more attention to the practice of ESP teaching, especially in non-English departments, by reforming policy in order to minimize the problems faced by ESP teachers and to improve the practice of ESP teaching.

Latar Belakang : Diabetes melitus di Indonesia merupakan salah satu penyakit tidak menular dengan kematian tertinggi. Diabetes melitus tipe 2 ditandai dengan kerja insulin yang tidak efektif, sehingga tidak berfungsi optimal dalam mengatur metabolisme glukosa. Penyakit ini dapat disebabkan dari beberapa faktor salah satunya adalah gaya hidup yang tidak sehat, diantaranya latihan fisik dan pola makan yang tidak baik. Tujuan : Untuk mengetahui pengaruh pola makan dan aktivitas fisik pada penurunan kadar gula darah pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2. Metode : Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan analitik Cross sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta yang mengikuti Prolanis di Klinik Aulia Jombang. Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah purposive sampling. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah peserta yang mengikuti Prolanis di Klinik Aulia Jombang, yang juga merupakan pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah data primer berupa kuesioner dan data sekunder berupa rekam medis pasien. Hasil : Hasil analisis dengan mann-whitney test menunjukkan signifikansi pengaruh pola makan dan aktivitas fisik terhadap penurunan kadar gula darah (p kurang dari 0,05). Kesimpulan : Menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan polaimakan dan aktivitas fisik terhadap penurunan kadar gula darah

Background: The birth rate by caesarean section method is getting higher. Risk data for 2013 shows the method of birth with the operation method of 9.8 percent of the total 49,603 births during 2010 to 2013. Being in practice the mother must be given anesthetic before the surgery begins. This anesthesia will later affect the pain that will occur after SC. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between regional anesthetic drugs and the smoothness of breast milk in women born in sectio caesarea at Muhammadiyah Gresik Hospital. Method: Method with Cross Sectional approach. The population in this study mothers who gave birth in a caesarean section at Muhammadiyah Hospital Gresik in December 2019 to January 2020. The sampling technique in this study is probability / random simple sampling. The sample in this study was a portion of mothers who gave birth in a caesarean section at Muhammadiyah Gresik Hospital. The instrument used was primary data collection in the form of questionnaires and secondary data in the form of patient medical records. Result: The data obtained in this study were processed using spearman correlation statistics. From the statistical test the Correlation coefficient value was 0.807, and obtained P-Value equal to 0,000 this value is less than 0.05. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that there is a correlation between the administration of a regional anesthetics and the smoothness of breast milk in mothers of post partum caesarea at Muhammadiyah Gresik Hospital.

Electronic Task Based Learning (e-TBL) is learning by giving assignments to students assisted by electronic media so that students are more active. In SMPIT Izzatul Islam (SMPIT Izzis) Getasan e-TBL is not yet available to analyze critical thinking skills and problem solving on learning substance and characteristics. This study aims to develop a valid and reliable e-TBL to analyze critical thinking skills and problem solving in learning substance and characteristics and to find out the responses of users after using e-TBL as a result of development. Type of this research is the research and development of the 4D model. The subjects of this study were students of grade 8 SMPIT Izzis. A limited test was conducted to determine the readability of e-TBL, the feasibility of e-TBL, and user responses to e-TBL conducted with a questionnaire sheet that tested its validity and reliability. The data analysis technique used in this study was quantitative descriptive. Based on research results, the development of e-TBL is feasible to use because it is valid and reliable. Responses from users also show that the development of e-TBL is feasible to be used to analyze critical thinking skills and problem solving on learning substance and characteristics.

IntroductionThe COVID-19 pandemic has caused disruptions in educational institutions across the country, prompting medical schools to adopt online learning systems. This study aims to determine impact on medical education and the medical student’s attitude, practice, mental health after 1 year of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia.MethodsThis study utilized a cross-sectional design. An online questionnaire was distributed digitally to 49 medical schools in Indonesia from February–May 2021. A total of 7,949 medical students participated in this study. Sampling was carried out based on a purposive technique whose inclusion criteria were active college students. This research used questionnaires distributed in online version among 49 medical faculties that belong to The Association of Indonesian Private Medical Faculty. Instruments included demographic database, medical education status, experience with medical tele-education, ownership types of electronic devices, availability of technologies, programs of education methods, career plans, attitudes toward pandemic, and the mental health of respondents. Univariate and bivariate statistical analysis was conducted to determine the association of variables. All statistical analyses using (IBM) SPSS version 22.0.ResultsMost of the respondents were female (69.4%), the mean age was 20.9 ± 2.1 years. More than half of the respondents (58.7%) reported that they have adequate skills in using digital devices. Most of them (74%) agreed that e-learning can be implemented in Indonesia. The infrastructure aspects that require attention are Internet access and the type of supporting devices. The pandemic also has an impact on the sustainability of the education program. It was found that 28.1% were experiencing financial problems, 2.1% postponed their education due to this problems. The delay of the education process was 32.6% and 47.5% delays in the clinical education phase. Around 4% student being sick, self-isolation and taking care sick family. the pandemic was found to affect students’ interests and future career plans (34%). The majority of students (52.2%) are concerned that the pandemic will limit their opportunities to become specialists. Nearly 40% of respondents expressed anxiety symptoms about a variety of issues for several days. About a third of respondents feel sad, depressed, and hopeless for a few days.ConclusionThe infrastructure and competency of its users are required for E-learning to be successful. The majority of medical students believe that e-learning can be adopted in Indonesia and that their capacity to use electronic devices is good. However, access to the internet remains a problem. On the other side, the pandemic has disrupted the education process and mental health, with fears of being infected with SARS-CoV-2, the loss of opportunities to apply for specialty training, and the potential for increased financial difficulties among medical students. Our findings can be used to assess the current educational process in medical schools and maximize e-learning as an alternative means of preparing doctors for the future.
