55. Highly Sensitive Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering Detection of Hydroxyl Radicals in Water Microdroplets Using Phthalhydrazide/Ag Nanoparticles Nanosensor

Abstract

The spontaneous generation of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) within atmospheric microdroplets, such as raindrops and aerosols, plays a crucial role in various environmental processes including pollutant degradation and oxidative stress. However, quantifying hydroxyl radicals (•OH), essential for H2O2formation, remains challenging due to their short lifespan and low concentration. This study addresses this gap by presenting a highly sensitive and selective surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) nanosensor specifically designed for quantifying •OH within water microdroplets. Utilizing a phthalhydrazide (Phth) probe, the SERS technique enables rapid, interference-free detection of •OH at nanomolar concentrations. It achieves a linear detection range from 2 nM to 2 μM and a limit of detection as low as 0.34 nM. Importantly, the SERS sensor demonstrates robustness and accuracy within water microdroplets, paving the way for comprehensive mechanistic studies of H2O2generation in the atmosphere. This innovative approach not only offers a powerful tool for environmental research but also holds potential for advancing our understanding of atmospheric H2O2formation and its impact on air quality and pollutant degradation.

Abstract

Ti2 Nb 1 0 O 2 9 (TNO) is considered as a potential anode material due to its high capacity/power density and reliable safety. However, its poor electronic conductivity restricts its rate performance, which is important for its application in electric vehicles (EVs). In this study, we fabricated a hybrid of Ti2 Nb 1 0 O 2 9 − x /holey-reduced graphene oxide (TNOx/HRGO) by a two-step method. In the structure of TNOx/HRGO, TNOx microspheres with oxygen vacancies are wrapped by gossamer-like HRGO. The oxygen vacancies of TNOx and the high conductivity of HRGO can effectively enhance the electronic conductivity of the TNOx/HRGO hybrid, and the HRGO holes are beneficial for the transmission of lithium-ion ( Li + ). The synergy effect of above features improves the rate performance of the TNOx/HRGO hybrid. In addition, the existence of HRGO can buffer volume expansion during the insertion processes of Li + , which can improve cyclic stability of the TNOx/HRGO hybrid. Consequently, the TNOx/HRGO electrode has excellent lithium-ion storage capacity, with high-rate performance (242 mAh/g at 10∘C, 225 mAh/g at 20∘C and 173 mAh/g at 40∘C) and excellent cyclic stability (98.0% capacity retention after 300 cycles at 10∘C). This work reveals that TNOx/HRGO can be a potential anode material for high-rate-performance lithium-ion storage. TNOx/HRGO hybrid was fabricated through solvothermal method, annealing, and freeze-drying, and its performance as anode of LIB was investigated. Due to its porous microstructure, the existence of oxygen vacancies and holey-reduced graphene oxide coating, the electronic conductivity and ionic conductivity of TNOx/HRGO were greatly improved, thus obtaining excellent high-rate performance. Abstract

This article discusses a study on enhancing the toughness of the recycled polystyrene (rPS) for use as television backset. The study used ethylene-octylene copolymer thermoplastic elastomer (POE) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) to improve the material's toughness. It exhibited increased impact strength in the rPS/POE binary blends. It also showed a sharp brittle-ductile transition in the recycled polystyrene (rPS) blended with styrene-butadiene-styrene copolymer (SBS).

92. Stress relaxation behavior of 3D printed silicone rubber foams with different topologies under uniaxial compressive load

Abstract

3D printed elastomeric foams present good potential for mechanical application and their stress relaxation behaviors are critical for engineering performance. In this work, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) foams with simple tetragonal (ST) and face-centered tetragonal (FCT) structures were printed and present different stress relaxation behaviors. The ST foam had a similar stress relaxation rate to that of the stochastic foam (15–16%), whereas the FCT foam had a lower stress relaxation rate (10%). The ST foam had high local stress concentrations under compression, because it deformed by uniaxial buckling deformation, leading to high stress relaxation of the PDMS matrix. In contrast, the stress distribution was more uniform in the FCT foam due to its bending deformation under compression. Thus, the compressive deformation mechanism of the printed topology greatly affects the stress relaxation properties. This finding provides an important guide for the design of elastomeric foams with low stress relaxation for high performance applications.

93. High-Performance Single-Crystal Lithium-Rich Layered Oxides Cathode Materials via Na 2 WO 4 -Assisted Sintering.

Abstract

Single-crystal lithium-rich layered oxides (LLOs) with excellent mechanical properties can enhance their crystal structure stability. However, the conventional methods for preparing single-crystal LLOs, require large amounts of molten salt additives, involve complicated washing steps, and increase the difficulty of large-scale production. In this study, a sodium tungstate (Na 2 WO 4 )-assisted sintering method is proposed to fabricate high-performance single-crystal LLOs cathode materials without large amounts of additives and additional washing steps. During the sintering process, Na 2 WO 4 promotes particle growth and forms a protective coating on the surface of LLOs particles, effectively suppressing the side reactions at the cathode/electrolyte interface. Additionally, trace amounts of Na and W atoms are doped into the LLOs lattice via gradient doping. Experimental results and theoretical calculations indicate that Na and W doping stabilizes the crystal structure and enhances the Li + ions diffusion rate. The prepared single-crystal LLOs exhibit outstanding capacity retention of 82.7% (compared to 65.0%, after 200 cycles at 1 C) and a low voltage decay rate of 0.76 mV per cycle (compared to 1.80 mV per cycle). 94. SnO-Sn 3 O 4 heterostructural gas sensor with high response and selectivity to parts-per-billion-level NO 2 at low operating temperature.

Abstract

Considering the harmfulness of nitrogen dioxide (NO 2 ), it is important to develop NO 2 sensors with high responses and low limits of detection. In this study, we synthesize a novel SnO-Sn 3 O 4 heterostructure through a one-step solvothermal method, which is used for the first time as an NO 2 sensor. The material exhibits three-dimensional flower-like microparticles assembled by two-dimensional nanosheets, in situ -formed SnO-Sn 3 O 4 heterostructures, and large specific surface area. Gas sensing measurements show that the responses of the SnO-Sn 3 O 4 heterostructure to 500 ppb NO 2 are as high as 657.4 and 63.4 while its limits of detection are as low as 2.5 and 10 parts per billion at 75 °C and ambient temperature, respectively. In addition, the SnO-Sn 3 O 4 heterostructure has an excellent selectivity to NO 2 , even if exposed to mixture gases containing interferential part with high concentration. The superior sensing properties can be attributed to the in situ formation of SnO-Sn 3 O 4 p-n heterojunctions and large specific surface area.
