In order to investigate the direct relation between confinement and chiral symmetry breaking in QCD, we investigate the Polyakov loop in terms of the Dirac eigenmodes in both confined and deconfined phases. Using the Dirac-mode expansion method in SU(3) lattice QCD, we analyze the contribution of low-lying and higher Dirac-modes to the Polyakov loop, respectively.In the confined phase below T_c, after removing low-lying Dirac-modes, the chiral condensate $< \bar{q} q>$ is largely reduced, however, the Polyakov loop remains almost zero and Z_3-center symmetry is unbroken. These results indicate that the system is still in the confined phase without low-lying Dirac-modes. By higher Dirac-modes cut, the Polyakov loop also remains almost zero below T_c. We also analyze the Polyakov loop in the deconfined phase above T_c. We investigate gluon propagators and the effective mass of the gluon fields in the MA gauge with U(1)$_3 \times$ U(1)$_8$ Landau gauge fixing in SU(3) lattice QCD. The Monte Carlo simulation is performed on $16^4$ at $\beta$=5.7, 5.8 and 6.0 and $32^4$ at $\beta=$5.8 and 6.0 at the quenched level. To calculate the propagators, we adopt a method to extract gauge fields from link-variables analytically in the SU(3) case. The off-diagonal gluons behave as massive vector bosons with the approximate effective mass $M_{\rm off} \simeq 1.1 - 1.2 {\rm GeV}$ in the region of $r = 0.3 - 0.8 {\rm fm}$, and the propagation is limited within a short range. On the other hand, the diagonal gluons behave as light vector bosons with $M_{\rm diag}\simeq 0.3 {\rm GeV} $ and the propagation of diagonal gluons remains even in a large range. In this way, infrared Abelian dominance is shown in terms of short-range propagation of off-diagonal gluons. Furthermore, we investigate the functional form of the off-diagonal gluon propagator. The functional form is well described by the four-dimensional Euclidean Yukawa-type function ${\rm exp}(-m_{\rm off} r)/r$ with $m_{\rm off} = 1.3 -1.4 {\rm GeV}$ for $r = 0.1- 0.8{\rm fm}$. Using SU(3) quenched lattice QCD, we study ground-state and low-lying even-parity excited-state potentials of quark-antiquark systems in terms of the gluon-momentum component in the Coulomb gauge. By introducing UV-cut in the gluon-momentum space, we investigate the "UV-gluon sensitivity" of the ground-state and excited-state potentials and the stringy excitation quantitatively. Even after cutting off high-momentum gluon component above 1.5GeV, the IR part of the ground-state potential is almost unchanged. On the other hand, the change of excited-state potential is more significant by the cut of UV-gluons. In SU(3) lattice QCD, we improve a method to extract gauge fields from link variables analytically. With this method, we perform the first study on the effective mass generation of off-diagonal gluons and infrared Abelian dominance in the maximally Abelian (MA) gauge in the SU(3) case. To clarify the relation between chiral symmetry breaking and color confinement, we investigate the Polyakov loop in terms of the Dirac eigenmodes in SU(3) lattice QCD. In SU(3) lattice QCD formalism, we propose a method to extract gauge fields from link-variables analytically. We analyze the relation between Faddeev-Popov eigenmodes and gluon-momentum components in the Coulomb gauge using SU(3) lattice QCD. In the Coulomb gauge, the color-Coulomb energy is largely enhanced by near-zero Faddeev-Popov eigenmodes, which would lead to the confining potential. By the ultraviolet-momentum gluon cut, the color-Coulomb energy and the Faddeev-Popov spectrum are almost unchanged. In contrast to the ultraviolet insensitivity, the color-Coulomb energy and the Faddeev-Popov eigenmodes drastically change by infrared-momentum gluon cut. Without infrared gluons, the color-Coulomb energy tends to become non-confining, and near-zero Faddeev-Popov eigenmodes vanish. We also investigate the full FP eigenmodes, and find that infrared gluons widely influence both high and low Faddeev-Popov eigenmodes., Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures

Using the eigen-mode of the QCD Dirac operator $\Slash D=\gamma^\mu D^\mu$, we develop a manifestly gauge-covariant expansion and projection of the QCD operators such as the Wilson loop and the Polyakov loop. With this method, we perform a direct analysis of the correlation between confinement and chiral symmetry breaking in lattice QCD Monte Carlo calculation on $6^4$ at $\beta$=5.6. Even after removing the low-lying Dirac modes, which are responsible to chiral symmetry breaking, we find that the Wilson loop obeys the area law, and the slope parameter corresponding to the string tension or the confinement force is almost unchanged. We find also that the Polyakov loop remains to be almost zero even without the low-lying Dirac modes, which indicates the $Z_3$-unbroken confinement phase. These results indicate that one-to-one correspondence does not hold for between confinement and chiral symmetry breaking in QCD.

We investigate the relevant gluon-momentum region for confinement in lattice QCD on $16^4$ at $\beta$=5.7, 5.8 and 6.0, based on the Fourier expansion. We find that the string tension $\sigma$, i.e., the confining force, is almost unchanged even after removing the high-momentum gluon component above 1.5GeV in the Landau gauge. In fact, the confinement property originates from the low-momentum gluon component below 1.5GeV, which is the upper limit to contribute to $\sigma$. In the relevant region, smaller gluon momentum component is more important for confinement. Next, we develop a manifestly gauge-covariant expansion of the QCD operator such as the Wilson loop, using the eigen-mode of the QCD Dirac operator $\gamma^\mu D^\mu$. With this method, we perform a direct analysis of the correlation between confinement and chiral symmetry breaking in lattice QCD on $6^4$ at $\beta$=5.6. We study quark-pair creations in strong color electromagnetic fields. We point out that, for massless quarks, the vacuum persistency probability per unit space-time volume is zero, i.e., the quark-pair creation rate w is infinite, in general homogeneous color electromagnetic fields, while it is finite when the color magnetic field is absent. We find that the contribution from the lowest Landau level (LLL) dominates this phenomenon. We investigate in detail "instantaneous interquark potentials", interesting gauge-dependent quantities defined from the spatial correlators of the temporal link-variable $U_4$, in generalized Landau gauge using SU(3) quenched lattice QCD. The instantaneous Q$\bar{\rm Q}$ potential has no linear part in the Landau gauge, and it is expressed by the Coulomb plus linear potential in the Coulomb gauge, where the slope is 2-3 times larger than the physical string tension. Using the generalized Landau gauge, we find that the instantaneous potential can be continuously described between the Landau and the Coulomb gauges, and its linear part rapidly grows in the neighborhood of the Coulomb gauge. We also investigate the instantaneous 3Q potential in the generalized Landau gauge, and obtain similar results to the Q$\bar{\rm Q}$ case. $T$-length terminated Polyakov-line correlators and their corresponding "finite-time potentials" are also investigated in generalized Landau gauge.

We discuss fermion pair productions in strong electric and magnetic fields. We investigate "instantaneous interquark potential", an interesting gauge-dependent quantity defined from the spatial correlator $<\mathrm{Tr} [U_4^\dagger(s)U_4(s')]>$ of the temporal link-variable $U_4$, in detail in generalized Landau gauge using SU(3) quenched lattice QCD. Using the generalized Landau gauge, we find that the instantaneous potential can be continuously described between the Landau and the Coulomb gauges, and it approximately reproduces the physical interquark potential in a specific intermediate gauge, which we call "$\lambda_C$-gauge". This $\lambda_C$-gauge is expected to provide a quark-potential-model picture, where dynamical gluons do not appear. We study the gluon propagator in the Landau gauge in SU(3) lattice QCD at $\beta$=5.7, 5.8 and 6.0 at the quenched level. The Euclidean Landau-gauge gluon propagator $D(r)\equiv D_{\mu\mu}^{aa}(x)/24$ is found to be well described by four-dimensional Yukawa-type function $e^{-mr}/r$ in the infrared and intermediate region of $r \equiv (x_\mu x_\mu)^{1/2}$ = 0.1 $\sim$ 1.0fm. The infrared effective gluon mass is obtained as $m \simeq$ 600MeV. Associated with the 4D Yukawa-type gluon propagator, we derive analytical expressions for the zero-spatial-momentum propagator $D_0(t)$, the effective mass $M_{\rm eff}(t)$, and the spectral function $\rho(\omega)$ of the gluon field. Remarkably, the obtained gluon spectral function $\rho(\omega)$ is almost negative definite, except for a positive $\delta$-functional peak at $\omega=m$. Since the Yukawa-type propagation indicates a three-dimensional space-time character, we consider a hypothesis of an effective dimensional reduction by generalized Parisi-Sourlas mechanism in a stochastic color-magnetic vacuum of infrared QCD.

Using generalized Landau gauge, we study the continuous change of gluon properties from the Landau gauge toward the Coulomb gauge in SU(3) lattice QCD. We investigate "instantaneous interquark potential", which is defined by the spatial correlation of the temporal link-variable $U_4$ and is an interesting gauge-dependent concept. In the Coulomb gauge, the instantaneous potential is expressed by the Coulomb plus linear potential, where the slope is, however, 2-3 times as large as the physical string tension. We investigate which momentum components of gluons induce color confinement and spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking in lattice QCD. For this purpose, we formulate a lattice framework to introduce the momentum cutoff of the gluon field. Using this framework, we calculate the quark-antiquark potential, the color flux tube, the chiral condensate, and the Dirac spectrum. Nonperturbative properties of gluons are studied in SU(3) lattice QCD at the quenched level. The first subject is a functional-form analysis of the gluon propagator $D_{\mu\nu}^{ab}(x)$ in the Landau gauge. We find that the gluon propagator $D_{\mu\mu}^{aa}(r)$ obtained in lattice QCD is well described by the four-dimensional (4D) Yukawa-type function $e^{-mr}/r$ with $m \simeq 600$MeV for the Euclidean 4D distance $r = 0.1 \sim 1.0$ fm. In momentum space, the gluon propagator $\tilde D_{\mu\mu}^{aa}(p^2)$ ($p= 0.5 \sim 3$ GeV) is found to be well approximated with a new-type propagator of $(p^2+m^2)^{-3/2}$, which corresponds to 4D Fourier image of the Yukawa-type function. Associated with the Yukawa-type gluon propagator, we derive analytical expressions for the zero-spatial-momentum propagator $D_0(t)$, the effective mass $M_{\rm eff}(t)$, and the spectral function $\rho(\omega)$ of the gluon field. The mass parameter $m$ turns out to be the infrared effective mass of gluons. The obtained gluon spectral function $\rho(\omega)$ is almost negative-definite for $\omega >m$, except for a positive $\delta$-functional peak at $\omega=m$. The second subject is a lattice-QCD determination of the relevant gluonic momentum-component for color confinement. As a remarkable fact, the string tension is found to be almost unchanged even after cutting off the high-momentum gluon component above 1.5 GeV in the Landau gauge. We analyze which momentum component of the gluon field induces spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking in lattice QCD. After removing the high-momentum or low-momentum component of the gluon field, we calculate the chiral condensate and observe the roles of these momentum components. The chiral condensate is found to be drastically reduced by removing the zero-momentum gluon. The reduction is about 40% of the total in our calculation condition. The nonzero-momentum infrared gluon also has a sizable contribution to the chiral condensate. From the Banks-Casher relation, this result reflects the nontrivial relation between the infrared gluon and the zero-mode quark.

We study the gluon propagator $D_{\mu\nu}^{ab}(x)$ in the Landau gauge in SU(3) lattice QCD at $\beta$ = 5.7, 5.8, and 6.0 at the quenched level. The effective gluon mass is estimated as $400 \sim 600$MeV for $r \equiv (x_\alpha x_\alpha)^{1/2} = 0.5 \sim 1.0$ fm. Through the functional-form analysis of $D_{\mu\nu}^{ab}(x)$ obtained in lattice QCD, we find that the Landau-gauge gluon propagator $D_{\mu\mu}^{aa}(r)$ is well described by the Yukawa-type function $e^{-mr}/r$ with $m \simeq 600$MeV for $r = 0.1 \sim 1.0$ fm in the four-dimensional Euclidean space-time. In the momentum space, the gluon propagator $\tilde D_{\mu\mu}^{aa}(p^2)$ with $(p^2)^{1/2}= 0.5 \sim 3$ GeV is found to be well approximated with a new-type propagator of $(p^2+m^2)^{-3/2}$, which corresponds to the four-dimensional Yukawa-type propagator. Associated with the Yukawa-type gluon propagator, we derive analytical expressions for the zero-spatial-momentum propagator $D_0(t)$, the effective mass $M_{\rm eff}(t)$, and the spectral function $\rho(\omega)$ of the gluon field. We study baryons as Skyrmions in holographic QCD with D4/D8/D8-bar multi-D brane system in type IIA superstring theory, and also in the non-linear sigma model with hidden local symmetry (HLS). Comparing these two models, we find that the extra-dimension and its nontrivial curvature can largely change the role of (axial) vector mesons for baryons in four-dimensional space-time. In the HLS approach, the rho-meson field as a massive Yang-Mills field has a singular configuration in Skyrmion, which gives a strong repulsion for the baryon as a stabilizer. When a_1 meson is added in this approach, the stability of Skyrmion is lost by the cancellation of rho and a_1 contributions. On the contrary, in holographic QCD, the rho-meson field does not appear as a massive Yang-Mills field due to the extra-dimension and its nontrivial curvature. We show that the rho-meson field has a regular configuration in Skyrmion, which gives a weak attraction for the baryon in holographic QCD. We argue that Skyrmion with pi, rho and a_1 mesons become stable due to the curved extra-dimension and also the presence of the Skyrme term in holographic QCD. From this result, we also discuss the features of our truncated-resonance analysis on baryon properties with pi and rho mesons below the cutoff scale M_KK about 1GeV in holographic QCD, which is compared with other 5D instanton analysis., Comment: 7 pages, 7 figures

We propose a new lattice framework to extract the relevant gluonic energy scale of QCD phenomena which is based on a "cut" on link variables in momentum space. This framework is expected to be broadly applicable to all lattice QCD calculations. Using this framework, we quantitatively determine the relevant energy scale of color confinement, through the analyses of the quark-antiquark potential and meson masses. The relevant energy scale of color confinement is found to be below 1.5 GeV in the Landau gauge. In fact, the string tension is almost unchanged even after cutting off the high-momentum gluon component above 1.5 GeV. When the relevant low-energy region is cut, the quark-antiquark potential is approximately reduced to a Coulomb-like potential, and each meson becomes a quasi-free quark pair. As an analytical model calculation, we also investigate the dependence of the Richardson potential on the cut, and find the consistent behavior with the lattice result.

We study three quark systems in Maximally Abelian (MA) and Maximal Center (MC) projected QCD on quenched SU(3) lattice, and also in the monopole/photon part, where only the color-electric/magnetic current exists, using the Hodge decomposition. First, we perform the quantitative study of the three-quark (3Q) potential V_{3Q} and the string tension \sigma_{3Q} in baryons. For MA projected QCD, the monopole part and MC projected QCD, we find that the confinement potential in V_{3Q} obeys the Y-Ansatz and the string tension \sigma_{3Q} is approximately equal to that in SU(3) QCD. The universality of the string tension, \sigma_{3Q} \simeq \sigma_{Q\bar Q}, is also found between the 3Q and the Q\bar Q potentials. We find a strong similarity of the inter-quark potential between the monopole part and MC projected QCD. In contrast, almost no confinement force is found in the inter-quark potential in the photon part. Next, we study the spectrum of light hadrons in MA projected QCD and the monopole/photon part, paying attention to the N-\Delta mass splitting. We find that the N-\Delta mass splitting is significantly reduced in MA projected QCD and the monopole part, where the one-gluon-exchange effect or the Coulomb-potential part is largely reduced due to the Abelianization or the Hodge decomposition. We study baryonic matter in holographic QCD with D4/D8/\bar{D8} multi-D brane system in type IIA superstring theory. The baryon is described as the "brane-induced Skyrmion", which is a topologically non-trivial chiral soliton in the four-dimensional meson effective action induced by holographic QCD. We employ the "truncated-resonance model" approach for the baryon analysis, including pion and \rho meson fields below the ultraviolet cutoff scale M_KK \sim 1GeV, to keep the holographic duality with QCD. We describe the baryonic matter in large N_c as single brane-induced Skyrmion on the three-dimensional closed manifold S^3 with finite radius R. The interactions between baryons are simulated by the curvature of the closed manifold S^3, and the decrease of the size of S^3 represents the increase of the total baryon-number density in the medium in this modeling. We investigate the energy density, the field configuration, the mass and the root-mean-square radius of single baryon on S^3 as the function of its radius R. We find a new picture of "pion dominance" near the critical density in the baryonic matter, where all the (axial) vector meson fields disappear and only the pion field survive. We also find the "swelling" phenomena of the baryons as the precursor of the deconfinement, and propose the mechanism of the swelling in general context of QCD. The properties of the deconfinement and the chiral symmetry restoration in the baryonic matter are examined by taking the proper order parameters. We also compare our truncated-resonance model with another "instanton" description of the baryon in holographic QCD, considering the role of cutoff scale M_KK., Comment: 25 pages, 12 figures

We perform the first study for the bound states of colored scalar particles $\phi$ ("scalar quarks") in terms of mass generation with quenched SU(3)$_c$ lattice QCD. We investigate the bound states of $\phi$, $\phi^\dagger\phi$ and $\phi\phi\phi$ ("scalar-quark hadrons"), as well as the bound states of $\phi$ and quarks $\psi$, i.e., $\phi^\dagger\psi$, $\psi\psi\phi$ and $\phi\phi\psi$ ("chimera hadrons"). All these new-type hadrons including $\phi$ have a large mass of several GeV due to large quantum corrections by gluons, even for zero bare scalar-quark mass $m_\phi=0$ at $a^{-1}\sim 1{\rm GeV}$. We find a similar $m_\psi$-dependence between $\phi^\dagger\psi$ and $\phi\phi\psi$, which indicates their similar structure due to the large mass of $\phi$. From this study, we conjecture that all colored particles generally acquire a large effective mass due to dressed gluons.

We study baryons and baryonic matter in holographic QCD using a D4/D8/$\bar{\rm D8}$ multi-D-brane system in the superstring theory. We obtain the chiral soliton solution for baryons in the four-dimensional meson theory derived from the multi-D-brane system. For the analysis of finite baryon-density matter, we investigate the chiral soliton on $S^3$ in holographic QCD, and find the delocalization of the soliton, i.e., the swelling of baryons in dense matter.

We formulate a new framework in lattice QCD to study the relevant energy scale of QCD phenomena. By considering the Fourier transformation of link variable, we can investigate the intrinsic energy scale of a physical quantity nonperturbatively. This framework is broadly available for all lattice QCD calculations. We apply this framework for the quark-antiquark potential and meson masses in quenched lattice QCD. The gluonic energy scale relevant for the confinement is found to be less than 1 GeV in the Landau or Coulomb gauge., Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures

We study the heavy-heavy-light quark ($QQq$) potential in SU(3) quenched lattice QCD, and discuss one of the roles of the finite-mass valence quark in the inter-quark potential. Monte Carlo simulations are performed with the standard gauge action on the $16^4$ lattice at $\beta =6.0$ and the $O(a)$-improved Wilson fermion action at four hopping parameters. For statistical improvement, the gauge configuration is fixed with the Coulomb gauge. We calculate the potential energy of $QQq$ systems as a function of the inter-heavy-quark distance $R$ in the range of $R \le$ 0.8 fm. The $QQq$ potential is well described with a Coulomb plus linear potential, and the effective string tension between the two heavy quarks is significantly smaller than the string tension $\sigma \simeq 0.89$ GeV/fm. It would generally hold that the effect of the finite-mass valence quark reduces the inter-two-quark confinement force in baryons.

We study the heavy-heavy-light quark ($QQq$) system in a non-relativistic potential model, and investigate the quark motional effect on the inter-two-quark potential in baryons. We adopt the Hamiltonian with the static three-quark potential which is obtained by the first-principle calculation of lattice QCD, rather than the two-body force in ordinary quark models. Using the renormalization-group inspired variational method in discretized space, we calculate the ground-state energy of $QQq$ systems and the light-quark spatial distribution. We find that the effective string tension between the two heavy quarks is reduced compared to the static three-quark case. This reduction of the effective string tension originates from the geometrical difference between the inter-quark distance and the flux-tube length, and is conjectured to be a general property for baryons., Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures

We perform the first study for the heavy-heavy-light quark (QQq) potential in SU(3) lattice QCD. The calculations are done with the standard gauge and $O(a)$-improved Wilson fermion action on the $16^4$ lattice at $\beta =6.0$ at the quenched level. We calculate the energy of QQq systems as the function of the distance between the two heavy quarks, and find that the QQq potential is well described with a Coulomb plus linear potential form. Compared to the static three-quark case, the Coulomb term does not change but the effective string tension between the heavy quarks is significantly reduced by the light-quark effect. We also investigate the light-quark mass dependence of the QQq potential using the four hopping parameters, $\kappa =0.1200,0.1300,0.1340$, and 0.1380. We study the five-quark system $uudd{\bar s}$ in the standard non-relativistic quark model by solving the scattering problem. Using the Gaussian Expansion Method (GEM), we perform the almost precise multi-quark calculations by treating a very large five-body modelspace including the NK scattering channel explicitly. Although a lot of pseudostates (discretized continuum states) with $J^\pi={1/2}^\pm$ and $J^\pi={3/2}^\pm$ are obtained within the bound-state approximation, all the states in $1.4-1.85$ GeV in mass around ${\rm {\rm \Theta}}^+(1540)$ melt into non-resonant continuum states through the coupling with the NK scattering state in the realistic case, i.e., there is no five-quark resonance below 1.85GeV. Instead, we predict a five-quark resonance state of $J^\pi={1/2}^-$ with the mass of about 1.9GeV and the width of $\Gamma \simeq$ 2.68MeV. Similar calculation is done for the four-quark system $c{\bar c}q{\bar q}$ ($q=u,d$) in connection with X$^0$(3872).

We study $qq \bar q \bar q$-type four-quark (4Q) systems in SU(3)$_c$ anisotropic quenched lattice QCD, using the $O(a)$-improved Wilson (clover) fermion at $\beta=5.75$ on $12^3 \times 96$ with renormalized anisotropy $a_s/a_t=4$.For comparison, we first investigate the lowest $q\bar q$ scalar meson from the connected diagram and find its large mass of about 1.32GeV after chiral extrapolation, and thus the lowest $q\bar q$ scalar meson corresponds to $f_0(1370)$.We investigate the lowest 4Q state in the spatially periodic boundary condition, and find that it is just a two-pion scattering state, as is expected. To examine spatially-localized 4Q resonances, we use the Hybrid Boundary Condition (HBC) method, where anti-periodic and periodic boundary conditions are imposed on quarks and antiquarks, respectively. By applying HBC on a finite-volume lattice, the threshold of the two-meson scattering state is raised up, while the mass of a compact 4Q resonance is almost unchanged.In HBC, the lowest 4Q state appears slightly below the two-meson threshold. To clarify the nature of the 4Q system, we apply the Maximum Entropy Method (MEM) for the 4Q correlator and obtain the spectral function of the 4Q system.From the combination analysis of MEM with HBC, we finally conclude that the 4Q system appears as a two-pion scattering state and there is no spatially-localized 4Q resonance in the quark-mass region of $m_s< m_q <2m_s$.

Five-quark (5Q) picture of Lambda(1405) is studied using quenched lattice QCD with an exotic 5Q operator of N\bar{K} type. To discreminate mere N\bar{K} and \Sigma\pi scattering states, Hybrid Boundary Condition (HBC), a flavor-dependent boundary condition, is imposed on the quark fields along spatial direction. 5Q mass m_{5Q}\simeq 1.89 GeV is obtained after the chiral extrapolation to the physical quark mass region, which is too heavy to be identified with Lambda(1405). Using the Abelian Higgs model, we study the radial excitations of single vortex and their propagation modes along the vortex line. We call such beyond-stringy modes {\it peristaltic} modes of single vortex. With the profile of the static vortex, we derive the vortex-induced potential, i.e., single-particle potential for the Higgs and the photon field fluctuations around the static vortex, and investigate the coherently propagating fluctuations which corresponds to the vibration of the vortex. We derive, analyze and numerically solve the field equations of the Higgs and the photon field fluctuations around the static vortex with various Ginzburg-Landau parameter $\kappa$ and topological charge $n$. Around the BPS value or critical coupling $\kappa^2$=1/2, there appears a significant correlation between the Higgs and the photon field fluctuations mediated by the static vortex. As a result, for $\kappa^2$=1/2, we find the characteristic {\it new} discrete pole of the peristaltic mode corresponding to the quasi-bound-state of coherently fluctuating fields and the static vortex. We investigate its excitation energy, correlation energy of coherent fluctuations, spatial distributions, and the resulting magnetic flux behavior in detail. We study the baryon in holographic QCD with $D4/D8/\bar{D8}$ multi-$D$ brane system. In holographic QCD, the baryon appears as a topologically non-trivial chiral soliton in a four-dimensional effective theory of mesons. We call this topological soliton as Brane-induced Skyrmion. Some review of $D4/D8/\bar{D8}$ holographic QCD is presented from the viewpoints of recent hadron physics and phenomenologies. Four-dimensional effective theory with pions and $\rho$ mesons is uniquely derived from the non-abelian Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) action of $D8$ brane with $D4$ supergravity background, without small amplitude expansion of meson fields to discuss chiral solitons. For the hedgehog configuration of pion and $\rho$-meson fields, we derive the energy functional and the Euler-Lagrange equation of Brane-induced Skyrmion from the meson effective action induced by holographic QCD. Performing the numerical calculation, we obtain the pion profile $F(r)$ and the $\rho$-meson profile $G(r)$ of the Brane-induced Skyrmion, and estimate its total energy, energy density distribution, and root-mean-square radius. These results are compared with the experimental quantities of baryons and also with the profiles of standard Skyrmion without $\rho$ mesons. We analyze interaction terms of pions and $\rho$ mesons in Brane-induced Skyrmion, and consider the role of $\rho$-meson component appearing in baryons., Comment: 28 pages, 11 figures

We study the meson-meson and meson-baryon interactions in lattice QCD. The simulation is performed on 20^3 * 24 lattice at \beta=5.7 using Wilson gauge action and Wilson fermion at the quenched level. By adopting one static quark for each hadron as "heavy-light meson" and "heavy-light-light baryon", we define the distance $r$ of two hadrons and extract the inter-hadron potential from the energy difference of the two-particle state and its asymptotic state. We find that both of the meson-meson and meson-baryon potentials are nontrivially weak for the whole range of 0.2 fm <= r <= 0.8 fm. We study multi-quark (3Q,4Q,5Q) systems in lattice QCD. We perform the detailed studies of multi-quark potentials in lattice QCD to clarify the inter-quark interaction in multi-quark systems. We find that all the multi-quark potentials are well described by the OGE Coulomb plus multi-Y-type linear potential, i.e., the multi-Y Ansatz. For multi-quark systems, we observe lattice QCD evidences of ``flip-flop'', i.e., flux-tube recombination. We perform the comprehensive analysis of the pentaquark (5Q) in J^P=3/2^{\pm} channel using anisotropic quenched lattice QCD. We employ the standard Wilson gauge action at \beta=5.75 and the O(a) improved Wilson (clover) quark action on a 12^3*96 lattice with the renormalized anisotropy as a_s/a_t = 4. A large number of gauge configurations as Nconf=1000 is analyzed, which is found to be essential to achieve a reliable measurement. We study three types of the Rarita-Schwinger intepolationg fields with I=0: (a) the NK*-type, (b) the (color-)twisted NK*-type, (c) a diquark-type. As a result, we find only massive states as m(5Q)= 2.1-2.2 GeV in J^P=3/2^- channel, and m(5Q) = 2.4-2.6 GeV in J^P=3/2^+ channel in the chiral limit. The analysis with the hybrid boundary condition (HBC) is performed to distinguish whether these resonances are compact 5Q resonances or two-particle scattering states. J/\Psi and \eta_c above the QCD critical temperature T_c are studied in anisotropic quenched lattice QCD, considering whether the c\bar c systems above T_c are compact quasi-bound states or scattering states. We adopt the standard Wilson gauge action and O(a)-improved Wilson quark action with renormalized anisotropy a_s/a_t =4 at \beta=6.10 on 16^3\times (14-26) lattices, which correspond to the spatial lattice volume V\equiv L^3\simeq(1.55{\rm fm})^3 and temperatures T\simeq(1.11-2.07)T_c. To clarify whether compact charmonia survive in the deconfinement phase, we investigate spatial boundary-condition dependence of the energy of the c\bar c systems above T_c. In fact, for low-lying c \bar c scattering states, there appears a significant energy difference \Delta E \equiv E{\rm (APBC)}-E{\rm (PBC)} between periodic and anti-periodic boundary conditions as \Delta E\simeq2\sqrt{m_c^2+3\pi^2/L^2}-2m_c (m_c: charm quark mass) on the finite-volume lattice. In contrast, for compact charmonia, there is no significant energy difference between periodic and anti-periodic boundary conditions. We study the manifestly exotic tetraquark D$_{\rm s0}^{++}(cu\bar s \bar d)$ and the scalar tetraquark $f_0(ud \bar u \bar d)$ in SU(3)$_c$ anisotropic quenched lattice QCD with the $O(a)$-improved Wilson (clover) fermion with various quark masses including the idealized SU(4)$_f$ case. For $f_0(ud\bar u \bar d)$ etc., we only consider connected diagrams at the quenched level, i.e., the tetraquark $f_0(ud\bar u\bar d)$ is identical with D$_{\rm s0}^{++} (cu\bar s \bar d)$ in the idealized SU(4)$_f$ case. First, for comparison, we study the lowest $q\bar q$ scalar meson, and find that it has a large mass of about 1.37GeV after chiral extrapolation, which corresponds to $f_0(1370)$. Second, we investigate the lowest 4Q state in the spatial periodic boundary condition, and find that it is just a scattering state of two pseudoscalar mesons, as is expected. Third, to extract spatially-localized 4Q resonances, we use the Hybrid Boundary Condition (HBC) method, where anti-periodic and periodic boundary conditions are imposed on quarks ($c$,$u$) and antiquarks ($\bar s$,$\bar d$), respectively. By applying the HBC on a finite-volume lattice, the threshold of the two-meson scattering state is raised up, while the mass of a compact 4Q resonance is almost unchanged. In HBC, we find a nontrivial 4Q resonance state about 100 MeV below the two-meson threshold in some quark-mass region. Its chiral behavior largely differs from a two-meson scattering state. The scalar tetraquark $f_0(ud\bar u\bar d)$ is found to have the mass of about 1.1GeV after chiral extrapolation, and seems to correspond to $f_0(980)$. Then, the manifestly exotic tetraquark D$_{\rm s0}^{++}(cu\bar s \bar d)$ would exist around 1GeV in the idealized SU(4)$_f$ chiral limit. Using SU(3) lattice QCD, we perform the detailed studies of the three-quark and the multi-quark potentials. We study the narrow decay width of low-lying penta-quark baryons in the QCD string theoryin terms of gluonic excitations. In the QCD string theory, the penta-quark baryon decays via a gluonic-excited state of a baryon and meson system, where a pair of Y-shaped junction and anti-junction is created. Since lattice QCD shows that the lowest gluonic-excitation energy takes a large value of about 1 GeV, the decay of the penta-quark baryon near the threshold is considered as a quantum tunneling process via a highly-excited state (a gluonic-excited state) in the QCD string theory. We perform the detailed study of the tetraquark (4Q) potential $V_{\rm 4Q}$ for various QQ-$\rm \bar{Q}\bar{Q}$ systems in SU(3) lattice QCD with $\beta=6.0$ and $16^3 \times 32$ at the quenched level. For about 200 different patterns of 4Q systems, $V_{\rm 4Q}$ is extracted from the 4Q Wilson loop in 300 gauge configurations, with the smearing method to enhance the ground-state component. We calculate $V_{\rm 4Q}$ for planar, twisted, asymmetric, and large-size 4Q configurations, respectively. Here, the calculation for large-size 4Q configurations is done by identifying $16^2 \times 32$ as the spatial size and 16 as the temporal one, and the long-distance confinement force is particularly analyzed in terms of the flux-tube picture. When QQ and $\rm \bar{Q}\bar{Q}$ are well separated, $V_{\rm 4Q}$ is found to be expressed as the sum of the one-gluon-exchange Coulomb term and multi-Y type linear term based on the flux-tube picture. When the nearest quark and antiquark pair is spatially close, the system is described as a "two-meson" state. We observe a flux-tube recombination called as "flip-flop" between the connected 4Q state and the "two-meson" state around the level-crossing point. This leads to infrared screening of the long-range color forces between (anti)quarks belonging to different mesons, and results in the absence of the color van der Waals force between two mesons., Comment: 17 pages, 23 figures

Dynamical chiral-symmetry breaking in QCD is studied with the Schwinger-Dyson (SD) formalism based on lattice QCD data, i.e., LQCD-based SD formalism. We extract the SD kernel function $K(p^2)$ in an Ansatz-independent manner from the lattice data of the quark propagator in the Landau gauge. As remarkable features, we find infrared vanishing and intermediate enhancement of the SD kernel function $K(p^2)$. We apply the LQCD-based SD equation to thermal QCD with the quark chemical potential $\mu_q$. We find chiral symmetry restoration at $T_c \simeq 100{\rm MeV}$ for $\mu_q=0$. The real part of the quark mass function decreases as $T$ and $\mu_q$.
