Reaction of dimethyl N-cyanodithioiminocarbonate, NCNC(SCH3)2 (L), and SnPh3Cl led to the formation of [ClPh3SnNCNC(SCH3)2] (1) which crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c with Z=8, a=19.152(2) Å, b=12.8659 (16) Å, c=19.063(3) Å, β=108.608(3) and V=4451.6(10) Å3. The structure of 1 consists of a SnPh3 moiety trans-coordinated in apical positions by one L ligand, N-coordinated, and one chlorine atom involving a trigonal bipyramid geometry around the Sn(IV) atom. To our knowledge, this is the first isolation of a discrete triorganotin(IV) complex with a N-cyanodithioiminocarbonate adduct. The structural characterization of 1 was completed by infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and elemental analysis which confirm the X-ray elucidation.

The title compounds [R2NH2][C2O4SnMe3](R=i-Bu, Cy), in which tin atoms adopt a distorted trigonal bipyramidal configuration, have been prepared and submitted to an X-ray diffraction study. These compounds have been obtained from the reaction of (Cy2NH2)2C2O4·H2O or (i-Bu2NH2)2C2O4 with SnMe3Cl. In both [R2NH2][C2O4SnMe3] compounds, the trans complex has an almost regular trigonal bipyramidal geometry around the tin atom. The SnMe3 residues are connected as a chain with bridging oxalate anions in a trans-SnC3O2 framework, the oxygen atoms being in axial positions. The cations connect linear adjacent chains through NH…O hydrogen bonds giving layered structures.

- Abstract
Background: There is no established standard of care for treating central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia (CCCA), and treatment approaches vary widely., Objective: To develop consensus statements regarding the use of various pharmacological therapies in treating adults with CCCA., Methods: We invited 27 dermatologists with expertise in hair and scalp disorders to participate in a 3-round modified Delphi study between January and March 2023. Statements met strong consensus if 75% of respondents agreed or disagreed. Statements met moderate consensus if 55% or more but less than 75% agreed or disagreed., Results: In round 1, 5 of 33 (15.2%) statements met strong consensus, followed by 9 of 28 (32.1%) in round 2. After the final round 3 meeting, strong consensus was reached for 20 of 70 (28.6%) overall statements. Two statements achieved moderate consensus., Limitations: This study included only English-speaking, US-based dermatologists and did not consider nonpharmacological therapies., Conclusion: Despite varying opinions among dermatologists, consensus was reached for several statements to help clinicians manage CCCA. We also highlight areas that lack expert consensus with the goal of advancing research and therapeutic options for CCCA., Competing Interests: Conflicts of interest Dr Barbosa has served as a consultant or advisory board member to the following companies in the last 2 years: Eli Lilly, Pfizer, UCB, and Vichy. - Abstract
Background: Central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia (CCCA) is a scarring alopecia seen primarily in women of African descent but rarely reported in men. The etiology of CCCA is unknown, but genetic variants, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and bacterial infections may play a role., Objectives: We aimed to characterize the demographics, medical histories, and clinical findings of male patients with CCCA with the hypothesis that features may differ from women., Methods: This was a case series of adult male patients with biopsy-confirmed CCCA seen at an academic dermatology department between 2012 and 2022., Results: In total, 17 males had a scalp biopsy and clinical findings consistent with CCCA. The average age was 43 years, and 88.2% of cases identified as Black race. Scalp pruritus was the most common symptom, and few patients endorsed high-risk hair care practices. None of the cases had diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus, but 17.6% had history of latent tuberculosis, and 47.1% had a positive family history of alopecia. We observed 8 patients with atypical CCCA, and 29.4% had an overlapping scalp diagnosis., Limitations: This study is limited by the single center, retrospective design and small sample size., Conclusions: It is important to consider CCCA in the differential diagnosis of alopecia in adult Black males., Competing Interests: Conflicts of interest None disclosed., (Copyright © 2023 American Academy of Dermatology, Inc. - Abstract
Farmers' entrepreneurship is an important engine to comprehensively help promote rural revitalization. Based on data from the China Household Finance Survey (CHFS2019), this paper empirically examines the effect of digital literacy on farmers' entrepreneurial behavior using the Probit model and instrumental variable method; and examines the mediating role of health status in this effect using the mediation effect model, combined with the Sobel and Bootstrap tests. The results of the study showed that (1) digital literacy positively influenced farmers' entrepreneurial behavior at the 1% significant level, and this positive influence showed some differences across gender and age; (2) health status played a mediating effect in the positive influence of digital literacy on farmers' entrepreneurial behavior. Accordingly, policy recommendations are made to foster farmers' digital literacy, encourage farmers' entrepreneurship, and ensure farmers' "digital health" services., Competing Interests: The authors have declared that no competing interests exist., (Copyright: © 2023 Bai et al. - Abstract
Aim: To evaluate the epidemiological, etiological and evolutionary profile of vesico-vaginal fistulas (VVF) in university hospitals in Senegal., Patients and Method: This is a retrospective, descriptive, single-center study, collecting the records of patients followed for VVF between January 2014 and December 2019 at the Urology and Andrology Department of the Centre hospitalier universitaire Aristide Le Dantec, Dakar, Senegal. The following parameters were studied: age, geographical origin, parity, and etiology of VVF. To assess the evolution of the epidemiological and etiological profile of VVF, we compared our results with those of series published by our structure., Results: Forty-five (45) VVFs were identified over a period of 6 years. This represents an annual average of 7.5 fistulas. The average age was 40±15.13 years with extremes of 13 years and 75 years; 17 patients (37.8%) were older than 45 years. The average parity was 3 with extremes from 0 to 12 children. Multiparous women represented 68.8% of the patients. Obstetric VVF (OVF) was more frequent (48.9%) followed by iatrogenic VVF (33.3%). The mean age was higher in the IVF group compared to the VVF group (32 years) (P = 0.0004). Thirty patients were from the Dakar region and its suburbs (66.6%). The etiology of VVF did not vary according to the geographical origin of the patients (P=NS). VVF was frequently associated with the management of cervical cancer in 42.2% of cases. Comparison of our current data with previous series shows a reduction in the annual incidence of VVF. VVFs, although they have decreased significantly, are still predominant. There is a constant increase in the number of IVF., Conclusion: There is an evolution of the epidemiological and etiological profile marked by a decrease in the frequency of VVFs and an increase in that of IVFs. It is also worth noting the frequent association between cervical cancer and VVF., Level of Evidence: Level 4: retrospective study., (Copyright © 2023. Published by Elsevier Masson SAS.)

- Abstract
Background: The emergence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) variants may have contributed to prolonging the pandemic, and increasing morbidity and mortality related to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This article describes the dynamics of circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants identified during the different COVID-19 waves in Mali between April and October 2021., Methods: The respiratory SARS-CoV-2 complete spike (S) gene from positive samples was sequenced. Generated sequences were aligned by Variant Reporter v3.0 using the Wuhan-1 strain as the reference. Mutations were noted using the GISAID and Nextclade platforms., Results: Of 16,797 nasopharyngeal swab samples tested, 6.0% (1008/16,797) tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Of these, 16.07% (162/1008) had a cycle threshold value ≤28 and were amplified and sequenced. The complete S gene sequence was recovered from 80 of 162 (49.8%) samples. Seven distinct variants were identified: Delta (62.5%), Alpha (1.2%), Beta (1.2%), Eta (30.0%), 20B (2.5%), 19B (1.2%) and 20A (1.2%)., Conclusions and Perspectives: Several SARS-CoV-2 variants were present during the COVID-19 waves in Mali between April and October 2021. The continued emergence of new variants highlights the need to strengthen local real-time sequencing capacity and genomic surveillance for better and coordinated national responses to SARS-CoV-2., Competing Interests: None declared., (© 2022 The Author(s).)

- Abstract
Farmland abandonment, as a manifestation of the low efficiency of the rural economy, has a profound impact on the process of agricultural and rural modernization. This study uses the 2016 China Labor Force Dynamic Survey data based on 8116 samples from 104 cities, constructs the Tobit model and IV Tobit model to analyze the land abandonment quantitatively from the perspective of environmental pollution. The results show that (1) environmental pollution can significantly increase the probability and area of land abandonment, (2) there is significant regional heterogeneity in the impact of environmental pollution on land abandonment, (3) the impact of environmental pollution on land abandonment varies significantly with different family sizes and land management scales, but the land management scale is relatively more sensitive. This study provides a deeper understanding of the relationship between environmental pollution and land abandonment in China and provides a basis for formulating relevant policies to strengthen the treatment of environmental pollution to solve the dilemma of land abandonment, which is of great practical significance to sustainable development of rural economy and the guarantee of food security in China., (© 2021. - Abstract
Primary rhabdomyosarcoma of the adult prostate is rare and associated with an aggressive clinical course. Combined modality therapy has resulted in marked improvement in survival rates and reduced surgical morbidity for children with these tumors. However, in adults the prognosis remains poor.We report on a case of prostate rhabdomyosarcoma in an adult approached with combined-modality treatment, with the administration of 9 courses of doxorubicin, vincristine and endoxan, and, subsequent radiotherapy to the prostaticbed. The patient remained free of progression of disease for about 1 year., Competing Interests: The authors have no conflicts of interest to declare., (© 2021 The Authors.)

- Abstract
The purpose of this study was to assess outcomes of radical prostatectomy in patients with prostate cancer. We conducted a retrospective single-center study in the Department of Urology and Andrology at the Aristide Le Dantec Hospital in Dakar from June 1, 2010 to May 31, 2016. We collected data of 60 patients undergoing radical retropubic prostatectomy associated with dissection of the iliac and obturator nodes. After radical prostatectomy, prostate specific antigen (PSA) levels were undetectable (<0.1 ng/mL) in 20 patients (33.3%). Eleven patients (18.3%), who had biochemical relapse, received complementary hormone therapy. Patients achieved a response after initiation of treatment, and total PSA became undetectable again after an 8-month follow-up period. Mean overall survival was 17.5 months, with a median of 9.49. Cumulative overall survival rates at 1 year, 3 years and 4 years were 42.4, 13.6 and 6.8%, respectively. Mean relapse-free survival was 17.3 months, with a median biochemical relapse-free survival of eleven (11) months. The mean duration of specific survival was 8.1 months, with a median of 3 months. Seven patients had positive resection margins (11.6%). Four patients had lymph node involvement. Radical prostatectomy, suggested in some patients with prostate cancer in our practice, has been shown to be an effective therapeutic method leading to good outcomes., Competing Interests: Les auteurs ne déclarent aucun conflit d´intérêts., (Copyright: Ndiaga Seck Ndour et al.)

- Abstract
Mali, like the rest of the world, has seen a rapid spread of COVID-19 since the first report of imported cases. Despite being a low-income country, Mali has leveraged scientific research resources via coordinated approaches to enable public health emergency planning and response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mali's approach includes the harmonization of research activities; leveraging of research laboratory capacity of the University Clinical Research Center, Mali International Center for Excellence and three other in-country laboratories for community COVID-19 testing; strengthening relationships amongst local and international stakeholders; and collaboration with the Ministry of Health to integrate scientific evidence into public policy and emergency management of COVID-19 through a platform of consultation and open communication. The country has implemented national coordination of its COVID-19 response by establishing a COVID-19 Scientific Advisory Committee and a COVID-19 Technical Coordination Committee, both within the Ministry of Health and working collaboratively with other stakeholders. Members of Mali's COVID-19 Scientific Advisory Committee also serve as leaders of its principal academic and government clinical and public health research entities. This centralised approach has enabled the prioritisation of COVID-19 control activities, informed allocation of resources, evidence-based public health practices and timely decision-making in the pandemic setting. Though challenges remain, lessons learned from Mali's harnessing of clinical research capacity to guide and support its COVID-19 response can be applied to future global health research challenges and illustrate the power of building public health-responsive research capacity in resource-limited settings through international collaboration.

- Abstract
Background: Although several experimental therapeutics for Ebola virus disease (EVD) have been developed, the safety and efficacy of the most promising therapies need to be assessed in the context of a randomized, controlled trial., Methods: We conducted a trial of four investigational therapies for EVD in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where an outbreak began in August 2018. Patients of any age who had a positive result for Ebola virus RNA on reverse-transcriptase-polymerase-chain-reaction assay were enrolled. All patients received standard care and were randomly assigned in a 1:1:1:1 ratio to intravenous administration of the triple monoclonal antibody ZMapp (the control group), the antiviral agent remdesivir, the single monoclonal antibody MAb114, or the triple monoclonal antibody REGN-EB3. The REGN-EB3 group was added in a later version of the protocol, so data from these patients were compared with those of patients in the ZMapp group who were enrolled at or after the time the REGN-EB3 group was added (the ZMapp subgroup). The primary end point was death at 28 days., Results: A total of 681 patients were enrolled from November 20, 2018, to August 9, 2019, at which time the data and safety monitoring board recommended that patients be assigned only to the MAb114 and REGN-EB3 groups for the remainder of the trial; the recommendation was based on the results of an interim analysis that showed superiority of these groups to ZMapp and remdesivir with respect to mortality. At 28 days, death had occurred in 61 of 174 patients (35.1%) in the MAb114 group, as compared with 84 of 169 (49.7%) in the ZMapp group (P = 0.007), and in 52 of 155 (33.5%) in the REGN-EB3 group, as compared with 79 of 154 (51.3%) in the ZMapp subgroup (P = 0.002). A shorter duration of symptoms before admission and lower baseline values for viral load and for serum creatinine and aminotransferase levels each correlated with improved survival. Four serious adverse events were judged to be potentially related to the trial drugs., Conclusions: Both MAb114 and REGN-EB3 were superior to ZMapp in reducing mortality from EVD. Scientifically and ethically sound clinical research can be conducted during disease outbreaks and can help inform the outbreak response. - Abstract
Introduction: Endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) is the mainstay for treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis versus maximal medical therapy. We propose a more economical option, by using steroid-impregnated Gelfoam instead of Nasopore post ESS, as it is less expensive and has showed effectiveness in preventing post-operative bleeding., Materials and Methods: A randomised, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial was carried out in eight patients with chronic rhinosinusitis or nasal polyposis who were planned for bilateral endoscopic sinus surgery. A Peri-operative Sinus Endoscopy (POSE) Score and Lund-Kennedy Endoscopic Score (LKES) were recorded. The use of hydrocortisone-impregnated Gelfoam dressing versus normal saline-impregnated Gelfoam dressing were compared. Scores were repeated post-operatively at one week, three weeks and three months interval., Results: For LKES, at the end of three months, 50% of the patients had the same score difference, 37.5% had better results on the study side while 12.5% had better results on the control side. Meanwhile, for POSE Score, at the end of three months, 75% of the patients had better score difference on the study side while 12.5% had better results on the control side., Conclusion: Gelfoam can be used as nasal packing material to deliver topical steroid after endoscopic sinus surgery. Steroid-impregnated nasal dressing after endoscopic sinus surgery may not provide better long-term outcome.

- Abstract
Penile strangulation is a clinical condition requiring emergency management. Several metallic or non-metallic objects can be placed around the penis to improve sexual performance or for auto-erotic purposes. We report the case of two schizophrenic patients aged 25 and 33years hospitalized in the Emergency Department due to penile strangulation by metal ring. The ring was placed at the level of the glans foreskin groove 3 days before in one case and at the level of the root of penis 2 days before in the other. There was no urinary disorder in both patients. Ring ablation was performed with taxis under local anesthesia in one case and under sedation followed by double ring section using an electric saw in the other case.

Bilharzioma are inflammatory pseudotumors, which often pose the problem of differential diagnosis with neoplastic processes. Using the keywords "testicular" and "schistosomiasis", there are only 14 cases of testicular bilharzioma identified on PubMed. The authors report two new cases in a 6-year-old child and an adult of 38 years, collected over a period of 5 years. In both cases, orchidectomy was performed and histological analysis of the surgical specimen was allowed to diagnose testicular bilharzioma by Schistosomia haematobium. The authors emphasize the need to evoke a bilharzioma before any testicular nodule in a patient living in an endemic area., (Copyright © 2013 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.)

Objective: Describe the epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of vesicovaginal fistula (VVF)., Patients and Methods: We conducted a retrospective descriptive study of all cases of VVF secondary to hysterectomy. The following parameters were studied: age, parity, indication for hysterectomy, risk factors, the consultation period, the anatomical type of VVF, the paraclinical, the surgical approach and results of the cure., Results: Fourteen cases were identified over 10 years. All hysterectomies were performed by laparotomia. The average age of patients was 54.3±13 years. Hysterectomy was performed in view of a uterine leiomyoma in eight cases, a cancer of the cervix in four cases, a menometrorrhagia in one case and a choriocarcinoma in one case. Four patients had received neoadjuvant radiotherapy. The mean time from injury was 13.5±18 months. Examination under valve was allowed to find 11 VVF type 1 and three type 2 VVF. IVU was normal in seven patients and allowed to find an ureterohydronephrose stage III in one patient. VVF was addressed by high in ten cases including 5 by transperitoneovaginale and 5 by transvesical pure. The postoperative course was uneventful in 11 patients (78%) but marked by vesicocutaneous fistula, parietal suppuration and one failure., Conclusion: In this short series of post-hysterectomy VVF treated by laparotomia, we observed a rate of cure satisfying in spite of an important psychosocial morbidity., (Copyright © 2013 Elsevier Masson SAS. And then to compare them to those of laparoscopic procedure and identify what can be considered now as the indications of the open procedure., Patients and Methods: It was a retrospective study on 30 cases of ureteropelvic junction syndrome managed by Anderson-Hynes open procedure. The clinical, biological and radiologic characteristics of the patients as well as the surgical technique and its results were taken into account. The patients were classified, according to Valdeyer and Cendron classification as type II in eight cases (26.7%), type III in ten cases (33.3%) and type IV in four cases (13.3%). There were also eight cases of giant hydronephrosis (26.7%). The operating time, the length of hospital stay and the outcomes were studied and compared with those of the laparoscopic pyeloplasty found in the medical literature., Results: The mean operating time was 115 ± 33.4 minutes (90-230 min). The mean length of hospital stay was 10.4 ± 5.1 days. Six patients (20%) had postoperative complications. After a mean follow-up of 28 ± 13.7 months (13-48 months), our first-hand success rate was 90% (n=27)., Conclusion: Anderson-Hynes open pyeloplasty reached good results but nowadays its indications can be limited to laparoscopic contraindications, severe hydronephrosis (grade IV or giant hydronephrosis) and second-hand cases. The two latter indications depend on the surgeon experience in laparoscopic surgery., (Copyright © 2012 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.)

- Abstract
The asymmetric unit of the binuclear title compound, [Sn(2)(C(2)O(4))(C(6)H(5))(6)(CH(4)N(2)S)(2)], consists of one half of the organotin(IV) mol-ecule. The remainder is generated by a twofold rotation axis passing through the mid-point of the oxalate C-C bond. The Sn(IV) atom exhibits a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination environment with the phenyl groups in equatorial positions and the thio-urea and the monodentately bridging oxalate anion in axial positions. The mol-ecules are linked through N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the amino group of the thio-urea ligand and the uncoordinating oxalate O atoms, forming layers parallel to (001). Weak C-H⋯O inter-actions are also present.

- Abstract
The title salt, [(CH(3))(2)NH(2)][Sn(C(6)H(5))(3)Cl(2)], was obtained as a by-product of the reaction between bis-(dimethyl-ammonium) oxalate and triphenyl-tin chloride. In the stannate anion, the trigonal-bipyramidal coordination environment of the Sn(IV) atom is defined by the phenyl groups in equatorial and the Cl atoms in axial positions. The cations are connected to adjacent anions through N-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, leading to a chain motif parallel to [100].
