59. Protective effect of polysaccharide from the artificially cultivated Sanghuangporus vaninii against H2O2-induced toxicity in vitro and in zebrafish models

Abstract

PFSV-2 is a purified polysaccharide with good hypolipidemic activity from artificially cultivated Sanghuangporus vaninii. In this study, PFSV-2 was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, X-ray diffraction, zeta potential, thermogravimetric analysis and the Congo red test. To assess the protective effect of PFSV-2, H2O2-induced oxidant injury on L929 cells and larval zebrafish models was employed. PFSV-2 significantly reduced H2O2-induced cytotoxicity in L929 cells by decreasing intracellular ROS levels and cell apoptosis. Furthermore, PFSV-2 had an obvious protective effect against H2O2-stimulated oxidative stress in larval zebrafish by decreasing heart rate and reducing ROS generation and cells death. Additionally, PFSV-2 decreased the production of MDA and increased the activity of antioxidant enzymes SOD and CAT in both L929 cells and larval zebrafish. These results suggested that PFSV-2 may be useful as an antioxidant in the medical and cosmetic industries.

Abstract

Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) based methods have significantly improved the performance of image steganalysis compared with conventional ones based on hand-crafted features. However, many existing literatures on computer vision have pointed out that those effective CNN-based methods can be easily fooled by adversarial examples. In this paper, we propose a novel steganography framework based on adversarial example in an iterative manner. The proposed framework first starts from an existing embedding cost, such as J-UNIWARD in this work, and then updates the cost iteratively based on adversarial examples derived from a series of steganalytic networks until achieving satisfactory results. We carefully analyze two important factors that would affect the security performance of the proposed framework, i.e. the percentage of selected gradients with larger amplitude and the adversarial intensity to modify embedding cost. The experimental results evaluated on three modern steganalytic models, including GFR, SCA-GFR and SRNet, show that the proposed framework is very promising to enhance the security performances of JPEG steganography.

Abstract

In order to find out the change rule of SPAD value in lettuce leaves and the rapid, non-destructive and more accurate detection method of chlorophyll content in lettuce leaves under intercropping mode, the effect of intercropping on SPAD value in lettuce leaves was studied and the correlation model between chlorophyll content and SPAD value was established. The results show that the SPAD value of lettuce leaves increases at first and then decreases slowly with the development of the days of aerosol culture, and intercropping has obvious advantage in the middle and late stages of aerosol culture. At the same time, the results show that the regression equations of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and total chlorophyll content with SPAD value are best fitted by power equation, exponential equation and power equation respectively, and the coefficients of determination are 0.8302,0.6719 and 0.8503 respectively. The models are verified. It is found that the predicted value and the measured value of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and total chlorophyll content have a good correlation, and there is no significant difference, which shows that the regression models have a good prediction effect on chlorophyll content. The results provide a theoretical basis for the effect of intercropping on SPAD value of lettuce leaves and provide a reference method for rapid, nondestructive and more accurate detection of chlorophyll content in lettuce leaves.
