Background: Angiolipoma is a benign neoplasm mainly composed of adipose tissue and proliferating blood vessels and is relatively rare in the gastrointestinal tract. And among them, gastric angiolipomas are extremely rare and tend to be small. Case Presentation: We report the clinical and imaging features of a patient with a huge angiolipoma in the stomach and an episode of hematemesis and melena, caused by the ulceration of the gastric mucosa overlying the gastric subepithelial angiolipoma revealed by the endoscopic evaluation. The patient was anemic, and the anemia resolved after local surgical resection of the tumor. We also reviewed the imaging and histological features of the presenting gastric angiolipoma. Conclusion: Radiologists should be aware of this rare benign gastric tumor that may present with gastrointestinal hemorrhage.

Background: Benign lesions cause ovarian torsion more commonly than malignant ovarian tumors. Further, Krukenberg tumors have rarely been reported to cause ovarian torsion. Case Presentation: Herein, we present the case of a patient with an incidentally discovered ovarian mass, which was finally diagnosed as a Krukenberg tumor accompanying ovarian torsion with primary stomach cancer. We further review the clinical, imaging, and histological features of Krukenberg tumors. Conclusion: Radiologists should be aware of Krukenberg tumors that may present with ovarian torsion.

In this study, carbon-coated porous nanofibers were prepared via electrospinning and the performance of Li[Ni0.93Co0.07]O2 (NC) synthesized by electrospinning (E-NC) and co-precipitation (C-NC) was compared. E-NC had a discharge capacity of 206 mAh g−1 at 0.1C (17 mA/g), which is 10% higher than that of C-NC (189.2 mAh g−1). E-NC shows a high-rate performance of 118.32 mAh g−1 (61.7%) at 5C (850 mA/g), which is 50% higher than that of C-NC (78.22 mAh g−1 = 45.7%). Charge transfer of the carbon-coated porous nanofiber E-NC decreased by 35% compared to C-NC after 20 cycles as observed using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results of this study show that the nanofiber structure with carbon coating shortens the Li-ion diffusion path, improves electrical conductivity, resulting in excellent rate performance.

Ascaris lumbricoides causes one of the most common soil-transmitted helminthiases globally. The worms mostly infect the human small intestine and elicit negligible or nonspecific symptoms, but there are reports of extraintestinal ectopic ascariasis. We describe a rare case of biliary ascariasis mistaken for biliary stent in a 72-year-old female patient with a history of liver resection. She visited our outpatient clinic complaining of right upper quadrant pain and fever for the past week. She had previously undergone left lateral sectionectomy for recurrent biliary and intrahepatic duct stones 2 years ago. Besides mildly elevated gamma-glutamyl transferase levels, her liver function tests were normal. Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography revealed a linear filling defect closely resembling an internal stent from the common bile duct to the right intrahepatic bile duct. A live female A. lumbricoides adult worm was removed by endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). Despite a significant decrease of the ascariasis prevalence in Korea, cases of biliary ascariasis are still occasionally reported. In this study, a additional case of biliary ascariasis, which was radiologically misdiagnosed as the biliary stent, was described in a hepatic resection patient by the worm recovery with ERCP in Korea.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine whether gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist treatment is effective in preserving final height in patients with central precocious puberty (CPP) or early puberty (EP).Methods: The medical records of 40 patients with CPP and 206 patients with EP who completed GnRH agonist treatment following diagnosis were analyzed retrospectively. Height and height standard deviation (height SDS) scores based on bone age (BA) were measured and calculated at baseline, after treatment completion, and at final follow-up to compare changes within and between groups. Predicted adult height (PAH) was estimated by the height corresponding to height SDS for BA in girls at 18 years 11 months of age based on the growth chart.Results: PAH at baseline did not differ significantly between the CPP group (153.67±4.95) and the EP group (154.77±3.72). In the CPP group, PAH significantly increased at treatment completion (156.01±4.61) and at final follow-up (158.52±6.04) compared to baseline. In the EP group, PAH significantly increased at treatment completion (157.7±3.60) and at final follow-up (159.31±4.26) compared to baseline. The increase in PAH at all timepoints compared to baseline did not significantly differ between the CPP and EP groups.Conclusion: Both CPP and EP groups had significantly greater PAH after treatment, with no difference in the amount of increase between groups. These results show that GnRH agonist treatment can help increase final height even in patients diagnosed with EP after the age of 8 years.

In the face of aging, it can be difficult for the elderly to accept and cope with changes. During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, changes in the medical service market for health care such as non-face-to-face treatment implementation, education and counseling, seminars, and camps have accelerated. Changes in medical use through mobile phones, tablet PCs, wearable devices, etc. were inevitable. It is important to study how the current early elderly population maintains change in daily life and the extent to which elderly people living alone can participate in such change. This review aims to answer the question, “What should we consider when treating and consulting patients regarding use of the vastly changing medical environment?” In particular, the study focuses on digital healthcare and community care and related health and welfare policies with consideration of aging and increasing chronic diseases.

Bi2Te3-based alloys have been extensively studied as thermoelectric materials near room temperature. In this study, the electrical, thermal, and thermoelectric transport properties of a series of Co-doped n-type Cu0.008Bi2Te2.6Se0.4 polycrystalline alloys (Cu0.008Bi2−xCoxTe2.6Se0.4, x = 0, 0.03, 0.06, 0.09 and 0.12) are investigated. The electrical conductivity of the Cu0.008Bi1.97Co0.03Te2.6Se0.4 (x = 0.03) sample was significantly enhanced, by 34%, to 1199 S/cm compared to 793 S/cm of the pristine Cu0.008Bi2Te2.6Se0.4 (x = 0) sample at 300 K, and gradually decreased to 906 S/cm for x = 0.12 upon further doping. Power factors of the Co-doped samples decreased compared to the 3.26 mW/mK2 of the pristine Cu0.008Bi2Te2.6Se0.4 sample at 300 K. Meanwhile, the power factor of the Cu0.008Bi1.97Co0.03Te2.6Se0.4 (x = 0.03) sample became higher at 520 K. The lattice thermal conductivities of the Co-doped samples decreased due to additional point defect phonon scattering by the Co dopant. Consequently, the zT for the Cu0.008Bi1.97Co0.03Te2.6Se0.4 alloy at 520 K was 0.83, which is approximately 15% larger than that of pristine Cu0.008Bi2Te2.6Se0.4, while the zT of the Cu doped samples at 300 K was smaller than that of the pristine Cu0.008Bi2Te2.6Se0.4 sample. Electrical transport properties of the Co-doped Cu0.008Bi2−xCoxTe2.6Se0.4 samples were analyzed by experimental phenomenological parameters, including the density-of-state, effective mass, weighted mobility, and quality factor.

OBJECTIVE Thalamotomy at the nucleus ventralis intermedius using MR-guided focused ultrasound has been an effective treatment method for essential tremor (ET). However, this is not true for all cases, even for successful ablation. How the brain differs in patients with ET between those with long-term good and poor outcomes is not clear. To analyze the functional connectivity difference between patients in whom thalamotomy was effective and those in whom thalamotomy was ineffective and its prognostic role in ET treatment, the authors evaluated preoperative resting-state functional MRI in thalamotomy-treated patients. METHODS Preoperative resting-state functional MRI data in 85 patients with ET, who were experiencing tremor relief at the time of treatment and were followed up for a minimum of 6 months after the procedure, were collected for the study. The authors conducted a graph independent component analysis of the functional connectivity matrices of tremor-related networks. The patients were divided into thalamotomy-effective and thalamotomy-ineffective groups (thalamotomy-effective group, ≥ 50% motor symptom reduction; thalamotomy-ineffective group, < 50% motor symptom reduction at 6 months after treatment) and the authors compared network components between groups. RESULTS Seventy-two (84.7%) of the 85 patients showed ≥ 50% tremor reduction from baseline at 6 months after thalamotomy. The network analysis shows significant suppression of functional network components with connections between the areas of the cerebellum and the basal ganglia and thalamus, but enhancement of those between the premotor cortex and supplementary motor area in the noneffective group compared to the effective group. CONCLUSIONS The present study demonstrates that patients in the noneffective group have suppressed functional subnetworks in the cerebellum and subcortex regions and have enhanced functional subnetworks among motor-sensory cortical networks compared to the thalamotomy-effective group. Therefore, the authors suggest that the functional connectivity pattern might be a possible predictive factor for outcomes of MR-guided focused ultrasound thalamotomy.

This study aimed to relieve the stress on outdoor stone cultural heritages that undergo frequent re-conservation treatment owing to the surface change and discoloration of treated areas. To this end, we selected and prepared 19 types of silica fillers as research samples. Half of the surface of each sample was processed, and the accelerated aging test was conducted in accordance with KS M ISO 4892-2. Changes in chromaticity, luster, powderization, pore and crack formation, and roughened surface bluntness depending on the type of silica powder and surface processing applied were determined before and after the test. Comparative studies revealed that the roughened surface of the filler sample made of high-quality amorphous silica (A1), which was mixed with angular and spherical particles, had excellent color and luster stability, with a ◿E*ab of 0.54 (Mean: 9.91) and ◿GU of –0.07 (M: 25.10) respectively; changes in its other properties were negligible. The results of this research indicate that the sustainability of treated areas can be extended by applying favorable conditions during conservation treatment.
