In recent years, the prevalence of gambling has been increasing, and at the same time gambling has been shown as leading to serious problems. The aim of this quantitative study was to examine students' perceptions of gambling situation with respect to their gambling habits, characteristics of gambling participants, and characteristics of gambling situation. The research was conducted with students (N = 237) of social work at the Faculty of Law in Zagreb. The vignette method sought to examine differences in the assessment of gambling situations depending on the gender of gambling participants, the source of income of gambling participants, the outcome of gambling, and to examine the correlation of respondents' personal habits and assessment of gambling situations. The results confirmed some of the hypotheses, where gambling was expected to be considered more serious when the source of income for gambling participants was social help rather than salary. Similarly, it was confirmed that respondents were more likely to approve gambling if the outcome was winning. Although only a small number of respondents have experience with gambling, those who gamble more often are also more likely to approve of the same type of activities when assessing the vignette situations.
