Cobalt phosphide has excellent electrical conductivity, metallic properties, and thermal stability. However, its application is limited due to the few active sites exposed in electrochemical reactions and poor structural stability. Herein, we adopt the strategies of material compounding and structural design to construct CoP@Ni(OH)2 bilayer nanosheets. The bilayer nanosheet structure can provide abundant transport paths for electrons and ions while also exposing more electroactive sites. In addition, the close contact and mutual support of the bilayer nanosheet structure can significantly alleviate material morphological collapse during charging/discharging processes, improving the cycle stability. The advantages of multiple components were combined in CoP@Ni(OH)2 to provide multiple valances for the faradaic redox reactions. The CoP@Ni(OH)2 manifested a specific capacity of 1697.8 C g−1 at 1 A g−1 and maintained a high rate capability of 35.0% even at 20 A g−1. Moreover, the electrode, had great cycling stability, retaining 83.9% of its capacity at 6 A g−1 after 7000 cycles. Purpose: To evaluate the clinical utility of serum luteinizing hormone (LH) level in predicting frozen embryo transfer (FET) outcomes among the patients with an ovulation induction (OI) cycle. Methods: A total of 250 patients who underwent OI cycle frozen–thawed embryo transfer from January 2018 to June 2020 in Drum Tower Hospital affiliated with Nanjing University Medical School were retrospectively analyzed. The primary outcomes were clinical pregnancy rate and the live birth rate. Results: The results showed that a significant difference in Serum LH level on the day of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) administration was observed between the clinical pregnancy group and no clinical pregnancy group (p = 0.002), while there was no significant difference between the live birth group and no live birth group (p = 0.06). Multiple logistic regression analysis of factors related to clinical pregnancy showed serum LH level on the day of hCG administration was related to improved clinical pregnancy rate (OR was 1.02, 95% CI: 1.0–1.03, p = 0.02), while serum LH level had no significant effect on live birth rate. The ROC curves revealed the serum LH level was significantly correlated with clinical pregnancy rate and live birth rate; the cut-off point of serum LH level on the day of hCG administration was 8.46 miu/mL for clinical pregnancy rate (AUC 0.609, p = 0.003). Conclusion: In patients with OI FET, serum LH level on the day of hCG administration might be a biomarker for the prediction of clinical pregnancy. The prediction that patients who underwent OI cycle frozen–thawed embryo transfer with serum LH levels below 8.46 mIU /mL might be pregnant appeared to be meaningful. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a kind of neurodegenerative disorder associated with age. Investigations suggest that amyliod‐β (Aβ) is implicated in the pathogenesis of AD. The accumulation of Aβ in the brain causes oxidative stress and synaptic toxicity, leads to synaptic dysfunction and neuronal death. Previous investigations suggest that melatonin an endogenous hormone can counteract Aβ‐induced neurotoxicity. However, the molecular mechanisms of Aβ‐induced toxicity and melatonin treatment remain elusive. Studies indicate that microRNA‐132 is crucial for neuronal survival and plays a key role in the pathological process of AD. Moreover, PTEN and FOXO3a two key targets of miR‐132 are upregulated in the AD brain. Here, we exposed the primary cultured cortical neurons with Aβ25‐35 and treated with melatonin. Our investigations demonstrated that Aβ25‐35 exposure significantly decreased the expression of miR‐132 and elevated the expression of PTEN and FOXO3a. Whereas, melatonin treatment could rescue the expression of miR‐132 and downregulate the level of PTEN and FOXO3a. Moreover, melatonin blocked the nuclear translocation of FOXO3a and thereby suppressed its pro‐apoptotic pathways. In addition, our investigations suggested that the over‐expression of miR‐132 could block Aβ‐induced neurotoxicity. We also found that VO‐OHpic (PTEN inhibitor) could counteract Aβ‐induced neuronal damage, and LY294002 (AKT inhibitor) suppressed the protective effect of melatonin. Schizophrenia is a devastating mental disease with social deficit as its core component of negative symptoms, which could be induced in rodents by dizocilpine (MK-801), a noncompetitive NMDA receptor antagonist. NMDA receptors are highly expressed during the postnatal period. However, less attention has been paid to the effects of postnatal MK-801 administration on social interaction. In this study, we evaluated the effects of postnatal administration of MK-801 on social interaction and explored the possible mechanisms. Postnatal day-7 mice were intraperitoneally injected with MK-801 twice daily for 5 days, and their social interaction repertoire was monitored by a computerized video in the 10th week. The contact event, relative position event, stop-state, and dynamic event were analyzed with MiceProfiler automatic idTracker system. The results showed that MK-801 reduced the number of the contact events, relative position events, and stop-states, while increased the number and duration of dynamic events. These changes implied that MK-801-injected mice had indifference and lower motivation in social interaction and could be a useful model for studies on the social deficit of schizophrenia. The prefrontal cortex is the key region for social interaction behaviors. Slice patch clamp was performed to analyze the cellular excitability of prefrontal cortical neurons after postnatal treatment with MK-801 in mice. The results demonstrated that MK-801 injection reduced the frequency and amplitude of action potentials, but increased the frequency of miniature inhibitory postsynaptic currents. These data illustrated that the excitability of neurons in the prefrontal cortex was inhibited. Finally, immunoblotting data demonstrated that MK-801 significantly decreased the levels of sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) and phosphorylated protein kinase B (p-PKB) in the prefrontal cortex (both P < 0.05). Taken together, our results indicated that administration of MK-801 to postnatal mice induces social interaction deficits possibly due to inhibiting the neuronal excitability and decreasing the levels of SIRT1 and p-PKB in the prefrontal cortex. As an attempt to increase the resistance to Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV) and so further reduction of its risk on the poultry industry. This work aimed to build the eukaryotic gene co-expression plasmid of neuraminidase (NA) gene and myxo-virus resistance (Mx) and detect the gene expression in transfected mouse fibroblasts (NIH-3T3) cells, it is most important to investigate the influence of the recombinant plasmid on the chicken embryonic fibroblasts (CEF) cells. cDNA fragment of NA and mutant Mx gene were derived from pcDNA3.0-NA and pcDNA3.0-Mx plasmid via PCR, respectively, then NA and Mx cDNA fragment were inserted into the multiple cloning sites of pVITRO2 to generate the eukaryotic co-expression plasmid pVITRO2-Mx-NA. The recombinant plasmid was confirmed by restriction endonuclease treatment and sequencing, and it was transfected into the mouse fibroblasts (NIH-3T3) cells. The expression of genes in pVITRO2-Mx-NA were measured by RT-PCR and indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA). The recombinant plasmid was transfected into CEF cells then RT-PCR and the micro-cell inhibition tests were used to test the antiviral activity for NDV. Our results showed that co-expression vector pVITRO2-Mx-NA was constructed successfully; the expression of Mx and NA could be detected in both NIH-3T3 and CEF cells. The recombinant proteins of Mx and NA protect CEF cells from NDV infection until after 72 h of incubation but the individually mutagenic Mx protein or NA protein protects CEF cells from NDV infection till 48 h post-infection, and co-transfection group decreased significantly NDV infection compared with single-gene transfection group (P<0. 05), indicating that Mx-NA jointing contributed to delaying the infection of NDV in single-cell level and the co-transfection of the jointed genes was more powerful than single one due to their synergistic effects. Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a fatal clinical syndrome. The most common cause of secondary HLH is Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. EBV-HLH is a common clinical disease with high mortality, easy relapse, and poor prognosis. Therefore, treating EBV-HLH with T and B lymphocyte involvement is challenging, and selecting an appropriate treatment regimen is critical. Moreover, research on how to evaluate the recurrence index after remission is scarce. In this study, we reported a case of EBV-HLH successfully treated with programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) inhibitor in combination with rituximab. The regimen had a good curative effect, and we successfully detected the trend of early recurrence. Our findings indicated that PD-1 inhibitor in combination with rituximab may help to treat EBV-HLH and maintain EBV-infected T and B whole-line lymphocytes.

Research Question: Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is one of the most used endometrial preparation protocols for frozen embryo transfer (FET) due to the convenience of its administration and stability of pregnancy outcomes. There are several HRT cycles accompanied by the development of dominant follicles. However, the relationship between dominant follicle development and clinical outcomes in HRT-FET cycles remains unclear., Design: We carried out a retrospective cohort study of 13251 cycles at our reproductive medicine center from 2012 to 2019. Total cycles were divided into two groups according to whether there was dominant follicular development. In addition, we conducted a secondary analysis that used propensity-score matching to reduce confounding variables. A univariate and multivariable logistic regression model was further employed to analyze the effect of dominant follicle development in HRT cycles on clinical pregnancy outcomes., Results: There was no significant correlation between dominant follicle development in HRT-FET cycles and the clinical pregnancy rate (adjusted OR = 1.162, 95% CI: 0.737-1.832, P = 0.52). In addition, there was a positive correlation between the basic follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) level and the development of dominant follicles, while there was a negative correlation between antral follicle count (AFC), menstrual cycle length and the development of dominant follicles in HRT cycles., Conclusions: The development of dominant follicles in HRT-FET cycles does not affect the clinical pregnancy rate, early miscarriage rate and live birth rate.
