Background: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent endocrine and metabolic condition seen in premenopausal women. A number of pharmacological agents like metformin, oral contraceptives, and anti-androgen agents have been used to treat PCOS and its associated implications, but it has been associated with numerous negative effects like fatal and nonfatal lactic acidosis, weight gain, cardiovascular, and hepatic toxicity.Methodology: This study considered the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta- Analysis (PRISMA) guideline where a vast number of article sources from different scientific databases like Google Scholar (https://scholar.google.com/), PubMed (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/), and Web of Science (https://mjl.clarivate.com/search-results) were screened out.Results: From a total of 154 studies, 24 studies were screened out following the inclusion and exclusion criteria, which reported 24 different plants that were used against PCOS preclinically. Details of various plants used, including their respective families, plant parts utilized, extraction methods employed, formulations developed, animal models of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) utilized, and the geographical locations within India where the research has been conducted are all documented.Conclusion: This systematic review is the first in India to report the pre-clinical studies of medicinal plants against PCOS, and it provides a thorough summary of the application of medicinal plants for the management of PCOS. Nonetheless, molecular level investigations on the plants utilized, their bioactive phytoconstituent responsible for the anti-PCOS activity, the probable mechanism of action and the pathway through which they conserve their effect, the effective dose, and the potential adverse effects are the need of time.

Clerodendrum colebrookianium (CC) is a small shrub belonging to the genus Clerondendrum and the family Lamiaceae that is widely distributed in southeast Asian countries like India and China. The plant generally grows in the wet and arid regions of the globe. It has four angled branches that bear flowers along with heart-shaped leaves. This review aims to provide vast knowledge about the pharmacological activities, ethnobotany uses, and the phytochemicals present in the plant. Additionally, it will advance our understanding of the plant's therapeutic potential in the years to come. Much available literature regarding the pharmacological properties, ethnobotany uses, and phytochemistry of C .colebrookianium was collected from a series of scientific resources including PubMed and Google Scholar. Many Asian countries have a long history of using plants from the Clerodendrum genus for various medicinal purposes. Different extracts of CC have demonstrated a wide range of pharmacological effects, including those that are antihypertensive, hepatoprotective, analgesic, antidiabetic and many more. Phytoconstituents like Steroidsdaucosterol, beta-sitosterol, colebrin-A, colebrin-B, colebrin-C, colebrin-D, colebrin-D and Glycoside- clerosterol 3 beta-O-[beta-D-glucoside], Clerosterol (24S/3) (poriferasta-5,25(26)-dien- 3-ol, sitosterol and octacosanol were reported to be present in this plant. This article offers a summary of the most recent research on the pharmacological, traditional uses and some of the phytochemicals of C. colebrookianium walp. Even though it offers a wide range of medical benefits, many of its traditional uses for health have not been well researched. The entire therapeutic potential of these plants for treating a variety of other disorders could be discovered with the aid of in- -depth research and studies on the phytoconstituents of the plant and their active principles.

A variety of bioactive components present in rice bran and rice bran extract are responsible to exhibit therapeutical potential like chemopreventive, cardioprotective, hepatoprotective, immunomodulatory, neuroprotective, and lipid-lowering activity. Several bioactivity representative compounds like ?-oryzanol, ferulic acid, caffeic acid, tricin, protocatechuic acid, vanillic acid, coumaric acid, phytic acid, isoferulic acid, gallic acid, ?-amino butyric acid, sinapic acid, saturated and unsaturated fatty acids, vitamin E complexes, ß-sitosterol, stigmasterol, campesterol, cyanidin-3-glucoside, peonidin-3-glucoside, quercetin, rutin, kaemferol, ß-carotene, lutein, vitamin B and lycopene are known to display significant health benefits. The bioactive components produced therapeutical effects by regulation of different mechanisms like increasing faecal excretion, reducing oxidative stress, reducing the level of malondialdehyde (MDA), regulation of NF-kb activation, reduction of proinflammatory cytokines production, suppression of SREBP-1, reduction in the expression of anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2, elevated the expression of proapoptotic protein Bax, up-regulating P53 expression and suppressing COX-2. Several research engines like PubMed, google scholar, science direct, etc. were used to collect the data on the mentioned keywords. Recent scientific works were included in this article. In this review paper, we profiled the high-value compounds and focused on their antioxidant, anti-hyperlipidemic, antidiabetic, and anticancer activity with their possible mechanism of action.
