Abstract

Over the last decade, there has been significant progress in the field of machine learning for de novo drug design, particularly in deep generative models. However, current generative approaches exhibit a significant challenge as they do not ensure that the proposed molecular structures can be feasibly synthesized nor do they provide the synthesis routes of the proposed small molecules, thereby seriously limiting their practical applicability. In this work, we propose a novel forward synthesis framework powered by reinforcement learning (RL) for de novo drug design, Policy Gradient for Forward Synthesis (PGFS), that addresses this challenge by embedding the concept of synthetic accessibility directly into the de novo drug design system. In this setup, the agent learns to navigate through the immense synthetically accessible chemical space by subjecting commercially available small molecule building blocks to valid chemical reactions at every time step of the iterative virtual multi-step synthesis process. The proposed environment for drug discovery provides a highly challenging test-bed for RL algorithms owing to the large state space and high-dimensional continuous action space with hierarchical actions. PGFS achieves state-of-the-art performance in generating structures with high QED and penalized clogP. Moreover, we validate PGFS in an in-silico proof-of-concept associated with three HIV targets. Abstract

The authors consider the materials of the excavations by S.E. Zubov, carried out on the Kipchakovo hillfort in 2006. Set of artifacts and numerous surface finds from excavations obtained on the territory of the hillfort under the plough allow to conclude that it belongs to the early stage of the Piany Bor culture and unite it with the synchronous Kipchakovo I barrow – subsoil burial ground into one archaeological assemblage. These objects of archaeology demonstrate the complex ethnic and cultural processes of the Piany Bor culture formation, complicated by the migrations of the population. It is concluded that the fortified settlement is single-layered and chronologically connected with the burial ground and their functioning can be determined by time within the II century BC – I century AD. The sizeable area of the hillfort (40 000 m2) in comparison with other Piany Bor fortified settlements and the large size of the burial ground make it possible to suppose that the Kipchakovo hillfort was an administrative and territorial center of the big importance at the turn of the era. Taking into account the small number of archaeological works carried out on the Piany Bor culture settlements in general and the uniqueness of the Kipchakovo archaeological site in particular, the authors consider it reasonable to publish the study of this new archaeological site, the materials of which significantly supplement the picture of the historical and cultural development of the region in the Early Iron Age.

58. Adversarial Learning of Deepfakes in Accounting

Abstract

Nowadays, organizations collect vast quantities of accounting relevant transactions, referred to as 'journal entries', in 'Enterprise Resource Planning' (ERP) systems. The aggregation of those entries ultimately defines an organization's financial statement. To detect potential misstatements and fraud, international audit standards demand auditors to directly assess journal entries using 'Computer Assisted AuditTechniques' (CAATs). At the same time, discoveries in deep learning research revealed that machine learning models are vulnerable to 'adversarial attacks'. It also became evident that such attack techniques can be misused to generate 'Deepfakes' designed to directly attack the perception of humans by creating convincingly altered media content. The research of such developments and their potential impact on the finance and accounting domain is still in its early stage. We believe that it is of vital relevance to investigate how such techniques could be maliciously misused in this sphere. In this work, we show an adversarial attack against CAATs using deep neural networks. We first introduce a real-world 'thread model' designed to camouflage accounting anomalies such as fraudulent journal entries. Second, we show that adversarial autoencoder neural networks are capable of learning a human interpretable model of journal entries that disentangles the entries latent generative factors. Finally, we demonstrate how such a model can be maliciously misused by a perpetrator to generate robust 'adversarial' journal entries that mislead CAATs., Comment: 17 pages, 10 figures, and, 5 tables

59. Hardware Design and Analysis of the ACE and WAGE Ciphers

Abstract

This paper presents the hardware design and analysis of ACE and WAGE, two candidate ciphers for the NIST Lightweight Cryptography standardization. Both ciphers use sLiSCP's unified sponge duplex mode. ACE has an internal state of 320 bits, uses three 64 bit Simeck boxes, and implements both authenticated encryption and hashing. WAGE is based on the Welch-Gong stream cipher and provides authenticated encryption. WAGE has 259 bits of state, two 7 bit Welch-Gong permutations, and four lightweight 7 bit S-boxes. ACE and WAGE have the same external interface and follow the same I/O protocol to transition between phases. The paper illustrates how a hardware perspective influenced key aspects of the ACE and WAGE algorithms. The paper reports area, power, and energy results for both serial and parallel (unrolled) implementations using four different ASIC libraries: two 65 nm libraries, a 90 nm library, and a 130 nm library. ACE implementations range from a throughput of 0.5 bits-per-clock cycle (bpc) and an area of 4210 GE (averaged across the four ASIC libraries) up to 4 bpc and 7260 GE. WAGE results range from 0.57 bpc with 2920 GE to 4.57 bpc with 11080 GE.

Abstract

In this paper we consider dynamical systems generated by $(3,2)$-rational functions on the field of $p$-adic complex numbers. Each such function has three fixed points. We show that Siegel disks of the dynamical system may either coincide or be disjoint for different fixed points. Also, we find the basin of each attractor of the dynamical system. We show that, for some values of the parameters, there are trajectories which go arbitrary far from the fixed points.

Abstract

The detection of fraud in accounting data is a long-standing challenge in financial statement audits. Nowadays, the majority of applied techniques refer to handcrafted rules derived from known fraud scenarios. While fairly successful, these rules exhibit the drawback that they often fail to generalize beyond known fraud scenarios and fraudsters gradually find ways to circumvent them. In contrast, more advanced approaches inspired by the recent success of deep learning often lack seamless interpretability of the detected results. To overcome this challenge, we propose the application of adversarial autoencoder networks. We demonstrate that such artificial neural networks are capable of learning a semantic meaningful representation of real-world journal entries. The learned representation provides a holistic view on a given set of journal entries and significantly improves the interpretability of detected accounting anomalies. We show that such a representation combined with the networks reconstruction error can be utilized as an unsupervised and highly adaptive anomaly assessment. Abstract

We consider a family of $(2,2)$-rational functions given on the set of complex $p$-adic field $\mathcal{C}_p$. Each such function $f$ has the two distinct fixed points $x_1=x_1(f)$, $x_2=x_2(f)$. We study $p$-adic dynamical systems generated by the $(2,2)$-rational functions. We prove that $x_1$ is always indifferent fixed point for $f$, i.e., $x_1$ is a center of some Siegel disk $SI(x_1)$. Depending on the parameters of the function $f$, the type of the fixed point $x_2$ may be any possibility: indifferent, attractor, repeller. We find Siegel disk or basin of attraction of the fixed point $x_2$, when $x_2$ is indifferent or attractor, respectively. When $x_2$ is repeller we find an open ball any point of which repelled from $x_2$. Moreover, we study relations between the sets $SI(x_1)$ and $SI(x_2)$ when $x_2$ is indifferent. For each $(2,2)$-rational function on $\mathcal{C}_p$ there are two points $\hat x_1=\hat x_1(f)$, $\hat x_2=\hat x_2(f)\in \mathcal{C}_p$ which are zeros of its denominator. We give explicit formulas of radiuses of spheres (with the center at the fixed point $x_1$) containing some points such that the trajectories (under actions of $f$) of the points after a finite step come to $\hat x_1$ or $\hat x_2$. We study periodic orbits of the dynamical system and find an invariant set, which contains all periodic orbits. Moreover, we study ergodicity properties of the dynamical system on each invariant sphere. Abstract

With the change in the social role of horses and the development of veterinary medicine, their average life expectancy has increased, so the problem of the quality of life of geriatric horses has become relevant nowadays. The purpose of the study is to determine the main approaches to the assessment of the quality of life of horses in old age. The study employed the following methods: analysis, synthesis, comparison, graphical presentation of data. Five main ways to improve life expectancy and QoL indicators and reduce mortality of old horses were determined: full and sufficient feeding; ensuring optimal ADL performance; creation of comfortable housing conditions; conducting cryotherapy maintenance vibrotherapy, manual therapy, horseshoe therapy, therapeutic and preventive exercises, magnetotherapy, phototherapy, shock wave and ultrasound therapy; use of modern methods of early detection and treatment of oncological diseases. It was found that the most common causes of death were diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, followed by diseases of the musculoskeletal system and reproductive system, and oncological diseases. Among the latter, tumours of the pituitary and thyroid glands, melanoma, sarcoidosis, lymphoma, squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) prevailed – up to 60% of oncological sick horses. It was summarised that quality of life assessments, including evaluation of factors related to health, activities of daily living and mental well-being, are useful in informing decisions regarding management, health care and euthanasia. The results of this study can be used by equestrian professionals, farmers or veterinarians to help them choose the safest and most beneficial care for horses

Abstract

The Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences has been actively cooperating with scientific centres and universities of the Republic of Uzbekistan since 2022. One of the fields of cooperation is the implementation of the scientific and educational project "Bolgar International Archaeological School". The support of the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (Samarkand, Uzbekistan) and the successful implementation of the scientific and educational project served as the beginning of closer and fruitful cooperation. In March 2023, jointly with Termez State University, an interdisciplinary study of the archaeological heritage site "Palace of Termezshahs", dating from the XI–XII centuries, was carried out. In May-June 2023, archaeological studies were conducted together with the Nukus State Pedagogical Institute named after Ajiniyaz on the Khaivan-Kala fortified settlement of the VII–X centuries. Within the scientific and educational cooperation at Termez State University, specialists of the Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov RT implemented an additional professional training programme "Geoinformation technologies and non-destructive methods".

As the adoption of cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin (BTC) continues to rise in today’s digital economy, understanding their unpredictable nature becomes increasingly critical. This research paper addresses this need by investigating the volatile nature of the cryptocurrency market, mainly focusing on Bitcoin trend prediction utilizing on-chain data and whale-alert tweets. By employing a Q-learning algorithm, a type of reinforcement learning, we analyze variables such as transaction volume, network activity, and significant Bitcoin transactions highlighted in whale-alert tweets. Our findings indicate that the algorithm effectively predicts Bitcoin trends when integrating on-chain and Twitter data. Consequently, this study offers valuable insights that could potentially guide investors in informed Bitcoin investment decisions, thereby playing a pivotal role in the realm of cryptocurrency risk management.

Abstract

The article presents the results of research on the selection of a transmission shaft of an optimal design for a small-sized, simple-constructed crushing device and theoretical determination of its parameters. According to the analysis of rectangular, trapezoidal, oval, tubular and conical transmission rods, trapezoidal rods have an optimal construction. Such rods ensure the convenient transmission of the stalks to be crushed, as well as compression of the material from both sides, accumulation and transmission. For this reason, we adopt a trapezoidal transmission line to the blue stem feed shredder. Based on the results of the theoretical research of transmission rods, it was determined that the stalks transmitted from the rod to the crusher depend on the shape of the rod and some parameters. According to theoretical studies, in order to transfer the crushed feed to the device and its supply channels with a comfortable and low resistance, the length of its transfer chute should be 65 cm, the width of the front part of the chute should be 40 cm, the width of the part connected to the supply chute should be 20 cm, and the slope of the chute should be 27°.

This article is based on the modeling of the operating mode of the membrane electrolyzer in the production of caustic soda through a neural network. In the course of work, a neural network model of the operation of the electrolyzer element was developed. Neural network software was used to create and train neural networks. The purpose of this work is to create an accurate model of the electrolyzer element using the following tasks was to create: the process of designing optimal structures of neural networks and their training, creating an electrolyzer model by training neural networks, as well as processing the modeling results. As a result of this work, a neural network model was developed, which allows to quickly and accurately calculate the result of the operation of the electrolyzer under any initial conditions.

Abstract

The outcomes of experimental investigations into ascertaining the hydraulic resistance of a vortex apparatus, featuring swirling gas and liquid flows under diverse design and operational conditions, are showcased. These examinations on pressure loss in vortex-type apparatuses facilitate the estimation of energy consumption for activities such as dust removal, contact heat exchange, gas absorption purification, and other processes conducted within gas-liquid systems. Notably, it has been observed that the hydraulic resistance of the scrutinized vortex apparatus is markedly lower compared to the pressure drop encountered in nozzle-type and plate-type apparatuses. Furthermore, it does not surpass the resistance exhibited by high-efficiency vortex-type apparatuses of alternative designs. The hydraulic resistance of hollow vortex apparatuses, equipped with tangential swirlers, is contingent upon variables such as gas phase velocity, liquid flow rate, apparatus design parameters, and the physical properties of the working media. Through the meticulous analysis of experimental data, calculation dependencies have been derived to determine the resistance coefficients of both dry and irrigated vortex apparatuses. These dependencies prove to be practical and convenient from an applied standpoint.

Abstract

In this paper we investigate pre-derivations of filiform Leibniz algebras. Recall that the set of filiform Leibniz algebras of fixed dimension can be decomposed into three non-intersected families. We describe the pre-derivation of filiform Leibniz algebras for the first and second families. We found sufficient conditions under which filiform Leibniz algebras are strongly nilpotent. Moreover, for the first and second families, we give the description of characteristically nilpotent algebras which are non-strongly nilpotent.

We show that any $(1,2)$-rational function with a unique fixed point is topologically conjugate to a $(2,2)$-rational function or to the function $f(x)={ax\over x^2+a}$. The case $(2,2)$ was studied in our previous paper, here we study the dynamical systems generated by the function $f$ on the set of complex $p$-adic field $\mathbb C_p$. We show that the unique fixed point is indifferent and therefore the convergence of the trajectories is not the typical case for the dynamical systems. We construct the corresponding Siegel disk of these dynamical systems. We determine a sufficiently small set containing the set of limit points. It is given all possible invariant spheres. We show that the $p$-adic dynamical system reduced on each invariant sphere is not ergodic with respect to Haar measure on the set of $p$-adic numbers $Q_p$. 79. Improving Chemical Autoencoder Latent Space and Molecular De novo Generation Diversity with Heteroencoders

Abstract

Chemical autoencoders are attractive models as they combine chemical space navigation with possibilities for de-novo molecule generation in areas of interest. This enables them to produce focused chemical libraries around a single lead compound for employment early in a drug discovery project. Here it is shown that the choice of chemical representation, such as SMILES strings, has a large influence on the properties of the latent space. It is further explored to what extent translating between different chemical representations influences the latent space similarity to the SMILES strings or circular fingerprints. By employing SMILES enumeration for either the encoder or decoder, it is found that the decoder has the largest influence on the properties of the latent space. Training a sequence to sequence heteroencoder based on recurrent neural networks(RNNs) with long short-term memory cells (LSTM) to predict different enumerated SMILES strings from the same canonical SMILES string gives the largest similarity between latent space distance and molecular similarity measured as circular fingerprints similarity. Using the output from the bottleneck in QSAR modelling of five molecular datasets shows that heteroencoder derived vectors markedly outperforms autoencoder derived vectors as well as models built using ECFP4 fingerprints, underlining the increased chemical relevance of the latent space. However, the use of enumeration during training of the decoder leads to a markedly increase in the rate of decoding to a different molecules than encoded, a tendency that can be counteracted with more complex network architectures.

Abstract

The authors discuss the chronological positions of eight-shaped clasps originating from 17 burials of the Pyany Bor culture. Clasps were found in both male and female burials. There are 10 skeletons identifed as male burials, and six ones as female. It is not possible to determine the sex of person in one burial. All clasps are made of bronze. The length of the clasps varies from 1.9 to 7.6 cm. The frames of the clasps are decorated in the form of round or oval rings directly adjacent to each other. On a number of clasps there are protrusions-"pins", some of which are decorated in the form of a stylized animal head (bear?). The largest number of clasps was found in the Kipchakovo I burial mound. The authors come to the conclusion that the eight-shaped Pyany Bor clasps by themselves cannot act as chronological markers of the initial stage of the Pyany Bor culture. However, it is impossible to completely deny the dating capabilities of eight-shaped fasteners. The authors suggested that clasps have a dating value when combined with quivers containing bronze arrowheads and, possibly, with epaulet-shaped clasps of simple shapes.

Abstract

Learning to detect fraud in large-scale accounting data is one of the long-standing challenges in financial statement audits or fraud investigations. Nowadays, the majority of applied techniques refer to handcrafted rules derived from known fraud scenarios. While fairly successful, these rules exhibit the drawback that they often fail to generalize beyond known fraud scenarios and fraudsters gradually find ways to circumvent them. To overcome this disadvantage and inspired by the recent success of deep learning we propose the application of deep autoencoder neural networks to detect anomalous journal entries. We demonstrate that the trained network's reconstruction error obtainable for a journal entry and regularized by the entry's individual attribute probabilities can be interpreted as a highly adaptive anomaly assessment. Experiments on two real-world datasets of journal entries, show the effectiveness of the approach resulting in high f1-scores of 32.93 (dataset A) and 16.95 (dataset B) and less false positive alerts compared to state of the art baseline methods. 86. Use of food additives in bakery products.

Abstract

The influence of various food additives including emulsifiers (mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids (E471), lecithin (E322), sodium stearoyl-2-lactylate (E481) and preservatives (potassium sorbate (E202), sodium propionate (E281)) on the quality and shelf life of bakery products was investigated. The study was conducted on the basis of the enterprise in Gulistan (Uzbekistan) in order to improve organoleptic characteristics of products and extend their shelf life. To conduct the experiment, test batches of bread with the addition of the specified food additives in various combinations were made. The effect of additives on such parameters as softness and elasticity of crumb, porosity, moisture, as well as resistance to microbiological spoilage (yeast and mould) was analysed. Microbiological analysis showed that the addition of preservatives significantly reduced the number of colony-forming units (CFU) of yeasts and moulds in bakery products. The control group reached 500 CFU/g by day 7, while the combination group had the lowest levels of only 50 CFU/g on day 7, which confirmed the effectiveness of the preservatives. It was also observed that the use of the combination of emulsifiers E471 and E481 resulted in a significant improvement in bread texture, increased bread volume and improved crumb porosity. The addition of lecithin (E322) contributed to moisture retention, which slowed down the staling process. The addition of potassium sorbate and sodium propionate significantly increased the shelf life of the bakery products, preventing the development of mould and yeast during 7-10 days of storage in a climate-controlled chamber. Thus, the use of combinations of food additives in conditions of industrial production allowed improving the physical and chemical properties of bakery products, increased their shelf life and ensured microbiological safety of products. Abstract

The paper features the results of studying a new Bronze Age site discovered in 2019 in the Volzhsky District of Samara Oblast. The site is located between two oxbow lakes on the left bank of the Volga. The ceramic complex is represented by two cultural and chronological groups. The first group of ceramics is associated with the Srubnaya culture. Of interest are fragments of three pot-shaped vessels with a high curved neck, smoothly transitioning into a rounded body, originating from pit 23. Complexes with similar ceramics located in the Samara Volga region have not been sufficiently studied. Analogies of such ceramics have been traced both in the steppe Ivanovka culture and among the forest and forest-steppe Maklasheevka culture at its early (Atabaevo) stage. A technological analysis of the ceramics identified differences in pottery traditions among the bearers of the Srubnaya culture and the bearers of the cultures of the final stage of the Late Bronze Age. The continuity of pottery traditions from the end of the Bronze Age to the early Iron Age has been traced.

Abstract

The research activities of the Institute were carried out in four fundamental and three applied fields. Significant territories of the Republic of Tatarstan were studied to identify cultural heritage sites in 2021. In the framework of the implementation of the state program of the Republic of Tatarstan “Preservation of the National Identity of the Tatar people (2020–2024)”, work was carried out in the Astrakhan, Volgograd, Ryazan and Saratov Oblasts, and the Republic of Kalmykia. In addition to studies in the Russian Federation, two reconnaissance field trips were made by the Central Asian team of the Institute to the hillforts of the Chüy Valley in the Kyrgyz Republic. The Institute annually publishes two academic peer-reviewed journals: The Volga River Region Archaeology and Archaeology of the Eurasian Steppes. The defenses of theses at the Thesis Board under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan in the field of History and Archaeology were important events in 2021.

Abstract

Background. Of great importance for bumblebees is the availability of a food base in two significant periods of life: at the beginning of flight activity after leaving wintering and at the end of flight activity in the period before wintering. The purpose of the work was to analyze the interacting groups of the interspecific association of bumblebees of Omsk forest-steppe at the beginning of flight activity after leaving wintering. Materials and methods. Field determinants are used in the work; the taxonomy of bumblebee species is given by Williams P. Results. Taking into account the timing of summer of each species included in the interspecific association, we identified the period of the beginning of the flight activity of bumblebees – from the 1st decade of May to the 3rd decade of June. Depending on weather conditions during the period of leaving the winter, the timing of flight activity may shift. Conclusions. At the beginning of the flight activity of bumblebees of the interspecific association of the central forest-steppe of the Omsk region from the 1st decade of May to the 3rd decade of June, the main forage plants are 28 species from nine families. The interspecific association of the central forest-steppe of the Omsk region at the beginning of flight activity, after leaving wintering, consists of several interacting groups, which at certain periods are formed from a different number of bumblebees.
