We show that quantum circuits restricted by a symmetry inherit the properties of the whole special unitary group $SU(2^n)$, in particular composition, algebraic and topological closedness and connectedness. It extends prior work on symmetric states to the operators and shows that the operator space follows the same structure as the state space. The well-behavedness is independent of the symmetry requirement imposed on the subgroup. We provide an example of a permutation invariance across all qubits., Comment: 10 pages, 2 figures

Recent studies on reservoir computing essentially involve a high dimensional dynamical system as the reservoir, which transforms and stores the input as a higher dimensional state, for temporal and nontemporal data processing. We demonstrate here a method to predict temporal and nontemporal tasks by constructing virtual nodes as constituting a reservoir in reservoir computing using a nonlinear map, namely the logistic map, and a simple finite trigonometric series. We predict three nonlinear systems, namely Lorenz, Rossler, and Hindmarsh-Rose, for temporal tasks and a seventh order polynomial for nontemporal tasks with great accuracy. Also, the prediction is made in the presence of noise and found to closely agree with the target. Remarkably, the logistic map performs well and predicts close to the actual or target values. The low values of the root mean square error confirm the accuracy of this method in terms of efficiency. Our approach removes the necessity of continuous dynamical systems for constructing the reservoir in reservoir computing. Moreover, the accurate prediction for the three different nonlinear systems suggests that this method can be considered a general one and can be applied to predict many systems. We report the occurrence of vibrational resonance (VR) and the underlying mechanism in a simple piecewise linear electronic circuit, namely the Murali-Lakshmanan-Chua (MLC) circuit, driven by an additional biharmonic signal with widely different frequency. When the amplitude of the high-frequency force is tuned, the resultant vibrational resonance is used to detect the low-frequency signal and also to enhance it into a high-frequency signal. Further, we also show that even when the low-frequency signal is changed from sine wave to square and sawtooth waves, vibrational resonance can be used to detect and enhance them into high-frequency signals. These behaviors, confirmed by experimental results, are illustrated with appropriate analytical and numerical solutions of the corresponding circuit equations describing the system. In the pursuit of higher critical temperature of superconductivity, quasi-flat electronic bands and van Hove singularities in two dimensions (2D) have emerged as a potential approach to enhance Cooper pairing on the basis of mean-field expectations. However, these special electronic features suppress the superfluid stiffness and, hence, the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless (BKT) transition in 2D superconducting systems, leading to the emergence of a significant pseudogap regime due to superconducting fluctuations. In the strong-coupling regime, one finds that superfluid stiffness is inversely proportional to the superconducting gap, which is the predominant factor contributing to the strong suppression of superfluid stiffness. Here we reveal that the aforementioned limitation is avoided in a 2D superconducting electronic system with a quasi-flat electronic band with a strong pairing strength coupled to a deep band with weak electronic pairing strength. Owing to the multiband effects, we demonstrate a screening-like mechanism that circumvents the suppression of the superfluid stiffness. We report the optimal conditions for achieving a large enhancement of the BKT transition temperature and a substantial shrinking of the pseudogap regime by tuning the intraband couplings and the pair-exchange coupling between the two band-condensates.

Bandyapadhyay et al. introduced the generalized minimum-membership geometric set cover (GMMGSC) problem [SoCG, 2023], which is defined as follows. We are given two sets $P$ and $P'$ of points in $\mathbb{R}^{2}$, $n=\max(|P|, |P'|)$, and a set $\mathcal{S}$ of $m$ axis-parallel unit squares. The goal is to find a subset $\mathcal{S}^{*}\subseteq \mathcal{S}$ that covers all the points in $P$ while minimizing $\mathsf{memb}(P', \mathcal{S}^{*})$, where $\mathsf{memb}(P', \mathcal{S}^{*})=\max_{p\in P'}|\{s\in \mathcal{S}^{*}: p\in s\}|$. We study GMMGSC problem and give a $16$-approximation algorithm that runs in $O(m^2\log m + m^2n)$ time. Our result is a significant improvement to the $144$-approximation given by Bandyapadhyay et al. that runs in $\tilde{O}(nm)$ time. GMMGSC problem is a generalization of another well-studied problem called Minimum Ply Geometric Set Cover (MPGSC), in which the goal is to minimize the ply of $\mathcal{S}^{*}$, where the ply is the maximum cardinality of a subset of the unit squares that have a non-empty intersection. The best-known result for the MPGSC problem is an $8$-approximation algorithm by Durocher et al. that runs in $O(n + m^{8}k^{4}\log k + m^{8}\log m\log k)$ time, where $k$ is the optimal ply value [WALCOM, 2023]., Comment: To appear in CALDAM 2024
