Abstract

Nanofluids have been introduced to improve the thermal properties of phase-change materials. However, stability problems caused by agglomeration and deposition have greatly restricted the use of nanofluids. In this work, paraffin-based nanofluids were prepared under the dual coordination of magnetic stirring and ultrasonic oscillation, the influence of ultrasonic power and time, base fluid volume, particle concentration and type on fluid stability was studied by single factor method, and the influence degree of the above four factors on fluid stability was studied by fractional factor design method. The following conclusions were drawn from the experiment: (1) With the increase of ultrasonic power, the relative absorbance increases within the allowable range of the experimental instrument, and the maximum improvement is 3.06%.(2) The optimal ultrasonic time for nanofluids preparation is 2 h. (3) The sample volume under the optimal state is 45 ml. (4) With the increase in concentration, the absorbance per concentration decreases, and the reduction range becomes slow. (5) The stability of the nanofluid is also related to the characteristics of the particle surface. (6) The coupling effect of ultrasonic power - concentration (PC) has the most significant effect on the overall absorbance change. This study provides a clear improvement direction and basis for the preparation of highly stable nanofluids.

63. Adsorption Characteristics of Soaked Air-dried Coal and Reaction Characteristics of Free Radical Functional Groups in CH4-containing Oxidizing Atmosphere.

Abstract

This paper selects the unsoaked air-dried coal (USC), air-dried coal with 1 month's water soaking (S1), air-dried coal with 3 months' water soaking (S3) and air-dried coal with 5 months' water soaking (S5) as the research objects to analyze the adsorption law of coal to CH4, oxygen, nitrogen, and mixed gas, and the changes of free radical concentrations, aliphatic hydrocarbons, and oxygen-containing functional groups under gas atmospheres with different CH4 concentrations during low-temperature oxidation process by using ESR and FTIR. The experimental results show that the effect of soaking time on CH4 adsorption amount is greater than that on O2 and N2 adsorption amounts. It can be seen by investigating the O2 concentration after the desorption process that there is no significant relationship between the O2 concentrations of three kinds of coals and different soaking time under the mixed gas with 0% CH4 concentration. However, there appears a certain law for O2 concentrations under the mixed gas with 25% and 45% CH4. The oxygen concentration of S1 is obviously higher than those of S3 and S5. Furthermore, there exists an upper limit of CH4 concentration to inhibit free radicals concentration of S1, about 35%. Obviously, the CH4 concentration points of S3 and S5, at which the decrease rate of free radicals concentration slows down, appear earlier than that of S1. The concentrations of -CH2 – and -CH3 of S1 gradually decrease in the initial stage and start to rise once the temperature exceeds 120°C. The change law of aliphatic hydrocarbon of S3 is similar to that of aliphatic hydrocarbon of S1. The concentration of aliphatic hydrocarbon of S5 starts to increase from 25% in the initial stage. The -OH concentration decreases sharply as starting oxidizing, and then the decrease gradually slows down. With the CH4 concentration increasing, the -OH concentration slowly increases, thus the decrease of -OH concentration reduces. Furthermore, the results show that the declining rate of -OH concentration in S1 is higher than those of -OH concentrations in S3 and S5. The -COOH of S1 rapidly decreases in the stage of 40–120°C. But with the increase of CH4 concentration, the decrease rate is obviously smaller. Abstract

With marathon-running grew in popularity, the effect of long-distance running on plantar pressure has been more attractive. It has been proposed that long-distance running influences the deviation in the center of pressure (COP) during standing and the changes to plantar pressure during walking. The objective of this study was to observe the effects on the COP motion amplitude of static standing and the plantar pressure distribution of walking after long-distance running. The influence of a 10-km run on changes to plantar pressure was assessed during standing and walking. Plantar pressure was measured before and immediately after running. In the study, seven males and five females participated in barefoot tests of static standing and dynamic walking. In the static standing tests, COP was measured under the following four ordered conditions: (1) bipedal, eyes open, standing; (2) bipedal, eyes closed, standing; (3) unipedal, eyes open, standing and (4) unipedal, eyes closed, standing. Under each condition, the data was collected while a stable standing posture for 10 s. In the dynamic walking tests, the contact duration and plantar pressure were recorded. The standing tests results revealed no significant differences between males and females while slight differences before vs. after running. Running for a single time had no effect on COP deviation during standing. The walking tests results revealed an initial landing on the lateral heel. After landing on the lateral heel, the females quickly transferred to the medial heel. The movement of the pressure to the medial heel was slower in males than females. After running, the pressure of females was more inward, while that of males was more outward under the metatarsal zones in the propulsion phase.

Abstract

We introduce the $$p$$ -Mawhin-Ureña-Nagumo and $$p$$ -Hartman-Nagumo conditions and apply them to prove the Dirichlet problem for the vector ordinary $$p$$ -Laplacian, $$(\varPhi _p(x'))'=f(t,x,x')$$ , for $$t\in [0,1],$$ has a solution $$x$$ with $$(t,x(t))\in \varOmega \subset [0,1]\times \mathbb {R}^n$$ where $$(\varOmega ,v,p)$$ is a $$p$$ -admissible bounding set. Abstract

Reversibly light-responsive micelles are constructed from an amphiphilic azobenzene-containing diblock copolymer AZO-mPEG-poly(5)25. The copolymer is synthesized via ring-opening polymerization of O-carboxyanhydrides bearing alkyne group, followed by azide-alkyne click chemistry with an azide-containing azobenzene derivative. AZO-mPEG-poly(5)25 can self-assemble to spherical micelles. Light response of the polymeric micelles is demonstrated by UV-vis spectroscopy and scanning electron micro­scopy (SEM). SEM images show that after UV irradiation, the micelles are partly dissociated, which is ascribed to swelling of the hydrophobic chain because of hydrophobicity change during the trans-cis isomerization of the azobenzene group. Abstract

The aim of this study was to assess the impact of different sports on hip joint anatomic parameters in athletes. This was a cross-sectional study of eight male trampolinists, eight male weightlifters, and eight male volunteers enrolled in July 2014. Hip joint anatomic parameters were measured from plain radiographs taken at the level of the lesser trochanter center. Data were compared between groups using the χ-test or one-way analysis of variance with the Bonferroni post-hoc test. There were no significant differences among groups in age, height, or weight. Compared with the controls, trampolinists showed higher pelvic width, femoral neck length, metaphyseal width (T0), width 20 mm above T0 (T+20), width 20 mm below T0 (T-20) and center edge (CE) angle, and lower head-trochanter ratio, joint space, neck-shaft angle, and articular cartilage angle (P<0.05). Compared with the controls, weightlifters showed lower pelvic femoral index, joint space, length of femoral neck, eccentricity, neck-shaft, and AC angle, and higher pelvic width, femoral head radius, and CE angle (P<0.05). Compared with trampolinists, weightlifters showed higher head-trochanter ratio and femoral head radius, and lower pelvic femoral index, femoral neck length, eccentricity, T0, T+20, T-20, neck-shaft angle, CE angle, and articular cartilage angle (P<0.05). Long-term high-intensity training causes adaptive changes in the hip joint structure that differ between trampolinists and weightlifters.
