Objective: Elaborate a literature review with recent papers about the radiologist’s role in the pelvic fractures and it complications. Methods: After performing a bibliographical search for the subject, the Medline database retrieved a total of 19 papers with the searching criteria selected. The range period goes from 2005 to 2015. This literature review has been completed with papers from other sources after an indirect search. Results: The reviewed articles point out the high prevalence, the diverse populations groups it affects and the significant morbidity and mortality associated with pelvic ring fractures. The articles focus in the initial management and the correct diagnosis of the injury, emphasizing the image techniques. It should be noted the necessity of using a classification system of the pelvic fractures that allows the orthopedic surgeon to perform a correct treatment. Currently, the most accepted are the Young-Burgess and Tile classifications, based on force vectors. Conclusion: The pelvic fractures are common in polytrauma, and nowadays they continue to be a challenge for clinicians. The image studies, being the plain film and the TCMD the most important techniques, are fundamental to the correct diagnosis the fractures. An efficient diagnosis is fundamental for the correct treatment of the injuries by the surgeon. Therefore, the specialist in Radiodiagnosis must know and manage the different classifications of the pelvic fractures, and the diverse associated injuries they could produce., Universidad de Granada. El Trabajo fin de máster ha sido realizado en el Hospital Universitario de Traumatología Virgen de las Nieves de Granada durante el segundo año de formación médica en la especialidad de Radiodiagnóstico., Aunque en ocasiones el diagnóstico de la patología del tobillo y pie puede realizarse mediante la historia clínica y la exploración física, con frecuencia se apoya en los estudios de imagen. La radiografía convencional sigue siendo el método de valoración inicial, y cada vez más se complementa con la ecografía, que valora la patología tendinosa y de los tejidos blandos de una forma eficaz y precisa. Vamos a presentar una serie de casos, diagnosticados en el Hospital de Traumatología Virgen de las Nieves de Granada, de rotura tendinosa por ecografía y su correlación con las imágenes de TC y RM. Éste es un análisis retrospectivo con 14 pacientes diagnosticados de rotura tendinosa de tobillo por diferentes técnicas de imagen en un periodo comprendido entre 2008 y 2013. De estos pacientes, 7 fueron diagnosticados inicialmente con ecografía y confirmado con RM, 6 fueron diagnosticados con RM inicial y 1 fue diagnosticado inicialmente con TC. Las lesiones afectaron al tendón peroneo lateral largo en 5 casos, al peroneo lateral corto en 6 casos, al flexor común de los dedos en 2 casos, al extensor común de los dedos en 1 caso, al flexor del dedo gordo en 1 caso, al tibial posterior en 2 casos y al tibial anterior en 1 caso. De ellas 4 fueron roturas completas y 10 parciales. Todas se confirmaron con RM o TC y además 4 se confirmaron con cirugía. Teniendo en cuenta los resultados, concluimos que la ecografía es una excelente prueba para el diagnóstico inicial de roturas tendinosas de tobillo debido a sus conocidas ventajas: disponibilidad, rapidez, economía, imagen en tiempo real (dinámica, comparativa). La RM es útil para el diagnóstico preoperatorio. En TC las lesiones tendinosas también se pueden diagnosticar, por lo que los tendones deben de valorarse conjuntamente con el estudio óseo., Universidad de Granada. 55. A Comparative Analysis of International Classification Systems to Predict the Risk of Collapse in Single-Level Osteoporotic Vertebral Fractures.

- Abstract
Introduction: Various classifications for osteoporotic vertebral fractures (OVFs) have been introduced to enhance patient care and facilitate clinical communication. However, there is limited evidence of their effectiveness in predicting vertebral collapse, and very few studies have compared this association across different classification systems. This study aims to investigate the association between OVF categories, according to the most widely used classification systems, and vertebral collapse., Patients and Methods: A retrospective single-center study was conducted involving patients diagnosed with acute OVFs at the emergency department of a tertiary-level academic hospital with a minimum follow-up of 6 months. Vertebral fractures were independently classified by two radiologists according to several classification systems, including those proposed by Genant, Sugita, the German Society for Orthopedics and Trauma (DGOU), and the AO Spine. Associations between vertebral collapse and OVF classification systems were analyzed using bivariate and logistic regression analyses., Results: This study included 208 patients (82.7% females; mean age of 72.6 ± 9.2 years). The median follow-up time was 15 months, with L1 being the most common fracture site (47.6%). The most frequent OVF types observed, according to Genant's morphological, Genant's quantitative, Sugita 's, DGOU's, and AO Spine's classifications, were biconcave (50%), grade 0.5 (47.6%), bow-shaped (61.5%), OF2 (74%), and A1 (61.5%), respectively. All classifications, except for Genant's quantitative system, were significantly associated with vertebral collapse in bivariate analyses. Logistic regression analyses showed a significant association ( p = 0.002) between the AO Spine classification and vertebral collapse, with 85.7% of A4 fractures developing collapse on follow-up., Conclusions: The AO Spine classification showed the highest predictive capacity for vertebral collapse. Specifically, A4 fracture types showed a very high risk of vertebral collapse, confirming the need for non-conservative management of these fractures. Further multicentric and prospective studies are warranted to confirm these findings.

- Abstract
This extended review tries to cover the imaging findings of the wide range of shoulder injuries secondary to shoulder joint instability. Usefulness of the different imaging methods is stressed, including radiography, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance. The main topics to be covered include traumatic, atraumatic and minor instability syndromes. Radiography may show bone abnormalities associated to instability, including developmental and post-traumatic changes. CT is the best technique depicting and quantifying skeletal changes. - Abstract
The aim of this review is to compare the effectiveness of percutaneous vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty to treat pain and improve functional outcome from vertebral fractures secondary to osteoporosis and tumor conditions. In 2009, two open randomized controlled trials published in the New England Journal of Medicine questioned the value of vertebroplasty in treating vertebral compression fractures. Nevertheless, the practice of physicians treating these conditions has barely changed. The objective of this review is to try to clarify the most important issues, based on our own experience and the reported evidence about both techniques, and to guide towards the most appropriate choice of treatment of vertebral fractures, although many questions still remain unanswered.

- Abstract
The aim of this article is to perform a general review of the different radiological percutaneous procedures used to diagnose and treat the many causes of back pain. These procedures can be merely diagnostic, such as discography and biopsy, diagnostic and therapeutic, such as epidural and facets injections, or only therapeutic, such as vertebroplasty, decompressive techniques of the intervertebral disk and tumour ablation. - Abstract
A case of unilateral ball-and-socket ankle joint associated with short limb and hypoplastic sustentaculum tali is reported. We think that hypoplastic sustentaculum tali was the cardinal feature in the anatomical and kinematic alterations of the foot in this patient. We review the embryonic development of hindfoot to ascertain the possible origin of this unusual finding.
